CAGiversary!
$5 off $25 or more coupon that might work:
http://img20.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tru5o251hz.jpg

Immense gratitude to Shrike4242 for updating this thing while I was away!!!

This is an odd one.....

Basically the gist is that Toys R Us is reducing its inventory by 20% by marking down over 6,000 skns from it's inventory, most of which are toys. There are however roughly 300 or so video games/accesories that will be a part of this clearance. As of 7/11 all have been marked down from 30-50%. TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Everything that is a part of this sale is on a 3 week cycle, meaning that every three weeks any items remaining in the stores will receive another price drop. Seeing as how these prices went into effect on the 11th of July we should be seeing them all drop again on the 1st of August.

The only caveat here being that retail is an odd beast that can be subject to change. So basically there is another price drop coming that in all likelihood will happen on the 1st so check back on the than to see what's up.

*****CONDENSED VERSION FOR THOSE OF US THAT ARE NOT SO GOOD WITH THE READING*****

a.) TRU marked down a shiton of inventory.

b.) Inventory will continue to be marked down if they do not sell.

c.) Prices may vary between store.
it's been that price at my TRU in Tampa Bay
Wow, you're getting better at this, too bad there are 3 or 4 TRU's in and around Tampa Bay.

Awesome!

I guess from now on I'll just rely on the people in the Tampa Bay thread for regional info on this sale.
Toys "R" Us contracts with a company called SVG distribution, basically this distribution company buys up a bunch of older games and than redistributes them to stores at a budget price. These games can be distinguished by a sticker UPC label that is affixed on top of the normal UPC code and by a sticker on the front of the package that reads "Great Games, Great Prices".
Ah, okay, I get it. I also was being dumb, and thinking of Blood Money instead of Contracts, that's where I got confused. ^_^;;;

ATTN: all fellow R-Zone associates.

the first part of the price drops for your particular store should be included with today (monday, July 10th) price drops. I was informed by my boss that there may or may not be additional price drops for R-Zone. I am going to post what is clearance as of today from my particular store (according to the list I got)

once again, this sale is extreme YMMV. if your store has not sold well on a particular item, it may or may not go clearance.

JetSetMario. is that list for all TRU stores? a lot (if not most) of the games on that list have sold really well at the particular store I work at, why would they go clearance. The price drops will be by region and only on items that sold poorly on their expected sales. For example both Psychonauts and Castlevania-Double Pack, sold tremendously well at our particular store (we are sold out), so they shouldn't appear on our clearance list.

San Rafael, California (as of 7/10/06)

Went to my TRU and everything was the same price, while some were tagged with a piece of paper showing the price as if on sale. I guess they were trying to trick the little kids and unknowing parents into thinking it was on sale to get them to buy.
I also saw an Coby 128 MP3 player for $15. I don't think that was a very good deal, but was really considering picking it up since I hardly see MP3 players that cheap before, is it worth it?

That Coby mp3 player has actually always been $15, since we got them in stock. Personally, I think you should hold off until something a little larger than 128MB drops in price.

Thanks a lot OP and all other participating members! I've been watching this thread very closely.

I'm looking forward to picking up these games (Albany, NY and surrounding regions):

GBA: Fire Emblem Sacred Stones

GC: Sonic Mega Collection/DX Double pack, Baten Kaitos w/ soundtrack, Prince of Persia Two Thrones, Mega Man X Collection, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, Donkey Konga w/bongos, DK Jungle Beat w/bongos

PS2: Romancing Sagam, Dragon Quest 8, Soul Calibur 3, Suikoden Tactics, Taiko w/ drums

Keep up the good work and investigation!

If it hasn't been listed, Halo 2 CE is $4.98

The cashier at the local TRU also showed me the current lists and said to check back just about every day as the price drops keep coming. The games not as much as the electronics, but some games have dropped twice... Destroy All Humans! (Xbox) dropped to $14.98 and then to $9.98
I hope Shadow of the Colossus gets 50%-offed.
Isn't that already going to be Greatest Hits soon anyways? Well at least according to the 4 or 5 threads that show the pic of it on Gamestop or EB with the sticker/packaging on it.

Just stopped by my local TRU and found for PS2 Onimusha 3 Demon Siege tagged at $9.99 but the display price tag label said $4.98 and sure enough it was $4.98 at the checkout!

Most of the games on there only appeal to me with a 50% off. Not that they are not good games, but because that discount would make them $20-$25 and $10-$15, which is what I would pay for them. :)

I just came from my TRU and here's what I picked up:

Final Fantasy XI PS2 = $39.98
F-Zero GP GBA = $4.98
Final Fantasy Tactics PSX = $4.98
Death Jr. PSP = $19.98
Destroy All Humans Xbox = $9.98

There were a few other games that I saw and here's what I remember.

Time Splitters Future Perfect PS2 = $34.98
Baten Kaitos GCN = $14.98
Castlevania Double Pack GBA = $19.98
Doom 3 Collector's Edition Xbox = $9.98
Serius Sam II Xbox = $9.98
Fire Emblem GBA = $14.98
Fire Emblem GCN = Don't remember if it was $19.98 or $29.98, sorry.

There were a bunch others but I just can't remember that many. The rest of the PSP games were behind the glass and I didn't remember anything that actually interested me so I didn't ask for more price checks. Hopefully this helps others. I know that Roufuss has been asking people to name where they found their games. I found mine at the TRU in 163rd Street and 6th Ave in North Miami, FL. Hope this helps others.

You are awesome, I hope your location does help some other Miami CAG because I know we have a few of them :D

F-Zero for $5 would be pretty nice.

Interesting that they green tagged the GC version of TS: FP almost a year ago, and yet the PS2 version is only 30% off.

If Baten Kaitos was $10 or under, I might just get another one for the soundtrack and dump the duplicate game.

I suppose I can check all this out at my TRU since I'm going to be at the Bed Bath & Beyond next door being not-so-cheap with a $60 bistro table ;)

 *raises hand*

I'll swing by the one on 88th to see if similar stuff ahs happened. I'll probably have them ring up the items and then I won't pay for them... >_

Is that the first Fire Emblem for the GBA or is it the 2nd one which is called The Sacred Stones?

Anybody who missed snagging Taiko Drum Master for $10 at Target might want to check their local Toys R Us. The TRU in Milwaukee (6035) has a few copies marked down to 19.99. It's not ten bucks cheap, but it's still kinda cheap.
Is that the first Fire Emblem for the GBA or is it the 2nd one which is called The Sacred Stones?
its the 2nd one.. Everyone in fort wayne RUN all the games are marked down.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the remainder of the list went active today and I will be updating the OP with prices.

Another bit of good news....prices should be the same at all locations. There may be a few that vary from store to store, but most will be the same.

edit: Slidecage beat me to it.

I went to ebay to look at the pics of the 2 and it's the second one, The Sacred Stones that's $14.98.
Is that the first Fire Emblem for the GBA or is it the 2nd one which is called The Sacred Stones?
Would you be willing to update the PSP list first so that I can see which ones I want to go pick up. I'm interested in adding to my PSP library as some of those games are really nice.

Thanks for the miami tips. I went to the Toys R Us on 163rd and 6th ave, but the sales person didnt know about anything being marked down. I didnt have a list with me so I couldnt really search for anything I may have wanted. Oh well, thanks for the posts.

Patience is a virtue. Who wouldn't want Jet to update his/her prefered console list first. There is no point hurrying Jet up, he said he'll update the list whenever he can, how would you feel if you're in Jet's shoes updating the list?

Good price on Hulk for GC, but I've learned my lesson... it'll be $20 everywhere eventually and I can save a few bucks used or with GGC.

*****updated op with all prices and a few new details******

TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Thanks jet, appreciate the updates and the work you've done. :applause:

Picked up Psychonauts today and have to get Kingdom of Paradise price adjusted since I bought the last one last week anticipating a drop.

Thank you Jet. I didn't think you were going to get to the entire list that quick. I along with a bunch of other CAG really appreciate it.

Man, not as cheap as i was hoping it to be. Probably a blessing in disguise though since too many damn sales. At least it's out of the way now. Thanks for the updates JetSet.

Finally! This deal came through!
Thanks for everything you've done, jet. Looks like I'm off to pick up Psychonauts, Destroy all Humans, and Fire Emblem-SS.
Besides, now I know what to look forward to in a month or so.

Fifa 06 for $15....I bet it will still be there next month...I'll wait. Besides, NCAA comes out next week and I already don't have any money for it.

I was thinking the same thing. My want listed was shortened significantly. But the good news is that I won't spend as much as I normally do on these TRU sales.
I might pick up Suikoden Tactics...for collection purposes.
I'm sure there are alot better SRPG's you could buy that are actually fun, and not just to sit on a shelf.

yea, a lot of the prices are pretty lame. Even 14.98 seems like too much after all that CC 8.96 goodness. Hopefully the next round of drops will even it out a bit.

I picked up the Castlevania Double Pack at $19.98. While this isn't as good a deal (by any stretch) as the FF1 and 2 Double Pack at CC for $8.98, I doubt there will be any left around for another price drop.
I'm sure there are alot better SRPG's you could buy that are actually fun, and not just to sit on a shelf.
Namely Fire Emblem: PoR, easily worth $30.

I know this game sucks.....but in the strange chance that one day I want to play this game, I know it'll be there on my shelf. I guess most of all, I just want to know the story of this Suikoden, even though I heard there's nothing much (of anything).

As long as you know that doesn't make much sense, more power to you ;)
Namely Fire Emblem: PoR, easily worth $30.
yea, it makes me cry that a game this good is still around for these clearance sales.
As long as you know that doesn't make much sense, more power to you ;)
I think my brain tarded out while typing that :whistle2:x

Hmmm.... I'll be all over Tokobot, Legend of Heroes, and Suikoden Tactics - at the next drop.

I hear Suikoden Tactics is decent - not the most challenging game, but a good starter SRPG. I've played through Fire Emblem PoR, but no others, so maybe I could run through ST before Disgaea/Disgaea2 and all the others that I already have :D.

Basically I agree with others here - $14.98 (and above) is a bit hard to take after the CC $8.96 sale and now the Best Buy drops (I just got Death Jr for $5 after coupon, thank you very much). Maybe on the next drop in a month or so these will become good CAG-level deals :D.

Bloomingdale, IL TRU Prices:

Picked up Baten Kaitos & Doom 3 CE, but I'm thinking about returning them - should I keep them instead? I've only read reviews, but the prices convinced me... now I'm having second thoughts. I'd probably go back and pick up FE: SS and the Castlevania Combo instead. Thoughts?

Oh, and also snagged a cooler/radio for $4.98 ($39.99) regularly - holds 16 cans.

Baten Kaitos is perhaps not for everyone, but if you like it you'll love it. (Turn off the voice acting.)
Baten Kaitos is perhaps not for everyone, but if you like it you'll love it. (Turn off the voice acting.)
Exactly. I picked it up used from GS and have really liked it. It's just hard to get into because it's rather unique.
Oh, and yeah, the voice acting is bad. And (I don't know if this is only on my game or a universal issue) it seems to have a sort of echo. Weird.

your going to end up hating it in the end. The final boss is a cheating SOB. his move takes hP off your people and adds it to his own hp. the final boss is almost impossiable to beat . I put in around 50 hours into it and gave up when i couldnt beat the final or next to final boss

his attacks confuse your people and takes their hp and adds it to his own

Ended up picking up Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Champions: Return to Arms at mine in Burlington, NJ. FE was 30 as mentioned and Champions was 9.98, which was cheap enough for me to give it a try. I almost picked up FE:SS also, but decided to wait, since it was only 5 dollars cheaper than everywhere else.

Wow, thanks for the awesome thread! I'm all about the 9.98 Destroy All Humans!, and 4.98 for Hitman: Contracts?! Holy shit! But, I gotta know, what is "budget packaging"?

I'll be checking my TRU tomorrow for Doom 3 CE, Psychonauts & Onimusha I think. Is this pretty much the final list or is it possible stuff will be added later? I want to avoid driving out there 5 times like I did for the CC sale because TRU is a good 10 miles away.
