http://img20.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tru5o251hz.jpg

Immense gratitude to Shrike4242 for updating this thing while I was away!!!

This is an odd one.....

Basically the gist is that Toys R Us is reducing its inventory by 20% by marking down over 6,000 skns from it's inventory, most of which are toys. There are however roughly 300 or so video games/accesories that will be a part of this clearance. As of 7/11 all have been marked down from 30-50%. TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Everything that is a part of this sale is on a 3 week cycle, meaning that every three weeks any items remaining in the stores will receive another price drop. Seeing as how these prices went into effect on the 11th of July we should be seeing them all drop again on the 1st of August.

The only caveat here being that retail is an odd beast that can be subject to change. So basically there is another price drop coming that in all likelihood will happen on the 1st so check back on the than to see what's up.

*****CONDENSED VERSION FOR THOSE OF US THAT ARE NOT SO GOOD WITH THE READING*****

a.) TRU marked down a shiton of inventory.

b.) Inventory will continue to be marked down if they do not sell.

c.) Prices may vary between store.

MS Xbox remotes, at least at my TRU in Sunnyvale, are $4.98. Some discounted controllers, PSP and DS accessories, etc.. At another local TRU, I came across a 7.1" Intec LCD screen for the Xbox for $39.99. Just a few random examples, but the accessory deals are out there.
Are videogame accessories on sale at TRU???
I just picked up an Intec PS2 sound system for $16 that comes with 3 speakers and a subwoofer.

some accessories are like on SALE or Clearance. could be because they wanna make room for PS3, or Wii, or new stuff to come in.

My CUSA had a few GBA players for the GC for $19.98 each. I may go back and see if they're still there, and if they're eligible for the B2G1.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Intec screens for Gamecube?

I'll search around in the thread but if someone here knows, I'd appreciate it.

the Long Island City, NY TRU had a bunch of 3 month XBL kits left (w. communicator) i wonder if they are still 9.99 or if there was any further drops

i should've had them price checked when i was there :(

If you pick one up, make sure you get one that says "Xbox 360 compatible" on it, which are the ones that expire 03/31/07. Otherwise, you'll get an older kit, and the 3 month code might not work, since they expired in 2005. I know 12 month codes don't expire, or they can be changed to new ones on the phone, though not the case for the 3 month codes, AFAIK.

Yesterday, I picked up multiple 3 month kits and all of them except 1 had the xbox 360 compatible on the front for 9.99 each. The one that did not have the xbox 360 compatible logo on the box rang up as 19.99 and it's box said it expired on 9/30/05, but the cashier marked it down to 9.99 since all of the other ones came up for 9.99.

Also I just plugged in the expired number into Live and it worked, so I guess it's YMMV on the expired ones.

Unfortunately, I missed out on a wireless PS2 dance pad for $9.98, down from $49.98. But, I also found the PS2 HDD and FF 11 set at a local Toys R Us for $39.99. I've still got the old $5 off any purchase over $25 coupon....thinking...thinking...

The image quality is a bit muddy, the brightness inconsistent and you need a GC power supply if you want to use it in the house. It does come with a car adapter with a splitter for the screen and the GC.

I wish I had the PSOne screen instead. I hear that has a good quality image. This GC screen is passable and alright for $30. But, never worth anything more.

Well at that price it's just the same as a Greatest Hits game.

Yeah -- I noticed my TRU reduced the price of a few accessories -- but that was it -- tha games were pretty much the same price. They had a copy of Doom 3 CE for $10 -- but I'm not a fan of FPS games (Case in point, my Halo 2 CE is still unopened) so I didn't grab it. The collector in me though wanted to snag it. May be some other day.

Everything is still too expensive, IMO -- or at least not CAG level yet. They did have hoards of DMC2 for $5 -- which, sadly, is still too much for that game.

I'm not sure if anybody else has mentioned this yet, but I'm 99% sure 700 new SKNs will be added to this deal Monday. And I'm about 50% sure that the discounts will drop to 50-70% off.

Two useful facts to have. Thanks for the update.

700? Damn, we're probably looking at a massive GC/PS2/Xbox blowout. Makes sense I guess since they're going to need shelf space for Wii/PS3.
so should we create another new thread for Aug 2006? this one was from July.
Honestly, we should, once the SKN's are semi-confirmed, plus it'll make for a new thread without clutter.

Thank you for the update. Appreciated.
I jut saw tonight, just before closing:

Dig Dug: Digging Strike (DS) for $9.98 at my TRU (east san jo)
I can confirm this as well...my TRU reduced the Dig Dug DS game to $9.98. I picked up a copy and they had one left still.

I went to TRU by work and I saw Dig Dug for DS for 9.98 as well. I also Meteos for $14.98. Castlevania GBA two pak for $19.98. I went to see if they had cameras for 360. Im going to try the TRU by my house tonight. Any good penny guides at TRU?

Keep in mind, I'm assuming the majority of the new items being added are just toys.

You should be more interested in seeing if any further drops happen on Monday. I know we received new signage for this deal, except it didn't reveal anything in terms of % off.

Hmmm...I was going to return Spartan Total Warrior this week, but maybe it is worth holding on to it a little longer...

Thanks for the info!

Finally, a price drop... or a 50% chance of one... should those prices drop, the time to grab Donkey Konga with the bongos has arrived at last. Maybe find a GBA or GC Fire Emblem somewhere... let's see Prince of Persia Two Thrones is almost sure to drop down under $10 at some store, so we'll pass on that, and probably Romancing Saga. There would've been more, but I'm just not counting on finding them as I've probably been to more TRUs than 99% of other CAGs thanks to travel for work.

The next line of drops could be interesting too, TRU doesn't have a lot of time to continue dropping games before the next Gen systems (Wii & PS3) come out, so I expect some good games to be added to the list.

colonial heights, va store, metal gear acid was priced at 29.99 and i had the store clerk check and it was still coming up at 29.99, just a heads up

Thanks for the info. I plan on going to TRU next week and checking around.

Yeah, I assume they're going to want to have some kind of display for both these systems up and running by mid-October, so they've got a month and a half to clear the crap (and gems) off the shelves. Maybe the magic 90% will hit at the end of September!

Fire embelem was still $29 at the TRU in Alaska.
The only real 'price slash' I saw was F Zero legend for the GBA for $4.99 think this is worth it? I like arcade racers sometimes. Nothing else was priced that low, aside from a bloodrayne for ps2.

Oh for the love of god, if there's a new crop of price drops PLEASE start a new thread this one should have died weeks ago.

the price drops has been slow lately. they just price cut on titles that usually been sitting on shelves and no one was buying.

either they put it in a clearance bin or the conventional shelf price sticker with the lowered price.

so if you see something on $9.98, grab it!

I saw at my tosrus the TAIKO Drum MAster set for the PS2 new for 19.99. Picked up a Beyond Good and Evil for the GC for 9.98 too :)
so if you see something on $9.98, grab it!
Hate to say this, but $9.98 is still more than I want to spend on Sprung. I'm waiting for it it hit around $5.

Oh, and the price drops hitting on Monday? Damn! I go back to school on Saturday. No car = suckage for a CAG.

Exactly -- 9.98 is low, but the fact is unless you're gung-ho crazy about games (which I guess some of us are), it's still a lot to pay for something you'd probably never play.

I picked up Sprung for 1.99 at Bestbuy a while back and still have yet to open it yet. From what I hear 1.99 is still too much to pay for this game.

At 1.99, it would still make a reasonably priced coaster, plastic "pigeon" for skeet shooting, or something like that.

Not a bad price if you're in need of a coaster and a replacement game case :bouncy:

i still got 2 sealed copies of sprung i got at best buy. picked up 4 total. the other 2 im using the cases for other ds games.

Man I just wish Fatal Frame III would drop to a decent price. Seems like its getting harder to find, and my local TRU has one with my name on it if it drops enough.

Totally with you -- I have the first two on Xbox -- kinda saddened that Tecmo never brought the last one over to finish the trilogy. The XBOX ones are better, IMO, than both the PS2 versions.

Sprung is $1.99 from KMart, as well. Picked it up yesterday because...well, what if every other DS game in the world simultaneously exploded? I'd be happy to have a new game.

But until then, it will remain sealed...
