Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.
I'm calling bullshit here...on you actually having 2 left. The bundle is more than a year old unless you had them hidden which I doubt.

You've given *some* reliable information here. But your information about the Buy 2 get the 3rd free "glitch" being fixed was wrong and some of your other recent information has been really sketchy.
Hear ye, hear ye.

Found a copy of Midway Arcade Treasure 2 promotion version and got it for $0.01... yay! Does anyone know if this is the full game(s)? Also can it be traded in to EB games (i.e. is it PO)? Thanks!

It's the full game, has a different UPC that the retail version but it can be traded in if they enter it manually
Ahh, do you still have parallel aisles too? Like 14 or so gigantic aisles running from one end of the store to the other? That layout was bliss...such good memories, the older styled stores were so much better. I hate the new (relatively new) layout of X-shaped aisles everywhere...it just seems so...hollow and shallow.
The old layout was awesome. I also liked how the video game consoles were in the glass case across from board games that you could walk right up to and see the systems.

I hate the R-Zone how you have to stay in that section of the store and can't walk out of there with a game if you want to look for other stuff non game related especially because most games are in the plastic case anyway

yeah, I love our store layout, the only trouble with it is with the busy season bearing down on us, the lack of stockroom and floor space is KILLING us. Takes us three days to unload a truck because of the lack of space to put everything.

I bet a lot of CAGs would find interesting hiding spots for GT games if that was allowed... heh.
My store looks very strange today. All of the 50% OFF GT sign has been taken off. Hopefully something good is coming...
They took all the green tag signs off the front of my store a week or so ago, not sure why.

I went into TRU the other day to return hitman contracts and I picked up tron 2.0 since it was the same price but when it rang up I got an extra 5.00 off. The receipt says $5 off select game. Anyone know anything about this? I'm thinking about going and picking up a few more.

I went to TRU today and saw these games with a green tag. Metroid Fusion 34.99, Mariol Golf: Advance 34.99, Feel the magic (DS)19.99 and retro atari (ds) 19.99.

I just picked up Airforce Delta Strike for ten bucks today, i was asking about Gallop Racer but they didnt have any.

If anyone has a Midway Arcade Treasures tehyd like to trade for Yager from the BB sale, please PM me

We have one copy of GR 2004 sitting on the shelf at @49.99GT. I could pick it up for ya if you need. It's been our only copy since I started and it's apparently not going anywhere.

After receiving a PM asking the details of the GT Glitch, I decided to just post it into this thread. I know it's been told numerous times, some people just aren't catching it (probably due to the size of this thread).

----------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much, the way the TRU system is working is it's basing the B2G1 or B1G1 sales on the original cost of the items. Say you have a two Green Tag games that are stickered at 19.99 and a non green tagged game stickered at 19.95.

While the GT games will ring up at the end of the transaction as 50% off (roughly $9.99), the free game calculation is based on the original prices, the least expensive being the free one.

In the end, you will end up paying 9.99(GT game #1 -19.99 @ 50% off) + 9.99 (GT game #2 - 19.99 @ 50% off) = 19.98 for all three games, the regular priced 19.95 game being free.

I discovered last night that this is holding true for the B1G1 board games as well, although finding a decent green tagged board game is gonna be the challenge. I picked up Trivial Pursuit 90's Edition ($29.99GT) and Star Wars monopoly($29.99 regular price) and ended up paying $15.00 total for both items.

The green tag glitch WILL work with equal priced items, like my board game example. However, the cashier MUST ring up the GT items FIRST, else it won't work. The last item scanned in the set would be free.

If you check Intrant you will see there are at least 30 stores that still have the Metroid bundle in stock. I was unable to pick mine up, yet, and my Director is picking his up tonight during the Friend and Family event. Yeah, no discount, but he wanted to have something to pick up tonight. As for the glitch, I logged a trouble ticket, yes I am a jerk, and was told that the glitch would be fixed by the next business day. As usual TRU did nothing. The reason I still have the bundles is one was a return in the last couple of weeks and we had one transferred in from a smaller store with the rest of the GT stuff we get from them every week. According to GT additions list hard drive went GT today. I was too busy to scan it but I will see if Tubtub can confirm later. Call BS all you want, I have two bundles sitting on the top right shelf as you walk in my booth. They will not be there tomorrow....I will even be nice and scan my receipt from tonight. Any other TRU employees receive 60 copies of Call Duty for PS2?-damn GT!

Sorry if mentioned but I don't feel like reading through this huge thread, but is Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne Deluxe Edition GT'd or not. It doesn’t specify which version it is in the list.

Yes, it's the edition that comes with the soundtrack.

Yes, TRON 2.0 (Xbox) is only $5 after GT and the $5-off coupon. It's a good game, too. Not sure how valuable it is as trade fodder, though.

I asked the guy and apparently Disney games have this $5 off coupon. TRON is a Buena Vista games product (Buena Vista is a long time "alternate" company name for Disney they use sometimes when they don't want something to have the Disney Brand and all the connotations that go with it. It also used to be the name of their distribution arm, anywhoo..)

So if you haven't picked up TRON yet, go get it. I'm not sure if any of the other GT games are Disney or not, but they might also be $5.

When did they start this $5 off thing? Are you supposed to tell the cashier about this or is it automatic at certain stores? I would like to know because i can use tron for GR trade fodder. It still gets $13.50. That along with Powerdrone(CC) getting $12(xbox version) means a new game for a combined $8.

Going to have to go check out TRU tomorrow to see if they have any metroid bundles left. I told myself I would grab one if I could get it for $50 new.

Don't know if its been mentioned but Xenosaga 2 has been GT'ed at my local TRU
Found a copy of Midway Arcade Treasure 2 promotion version and got it for $0.01... yay! Does anyone know if this is the full game(s)? Also can it be traded in to EB games (i.e. is it PO)? Thanks!
Does anyone have the UPC for the game, there's a bunch of them at my TRU, but I can't tell if it's promotional.
Thanks!

I bought Tron 2.0 for XB today. Rang up $9.99. Is the $5 off Disney an actual coupon or should it automatically deduct? (I went through the whole check out process, including paying for it).

It was automatic at my TRU, in fact I asked the employee to explain why it had the extra $5 off and he said "it must be a disney game".

Either YMMV or it ended Sunday. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply. It could be YMMV, the TRU that I went to started the 90% off (last year's) a day later than all the other ones around the area so they may just be late in updating their systems. Others should still try to get in on this!

It will say "promotional copy, not for resale" in a small box on the front (by the ESRB rating on my xbox one)

I agree that you, sir, are a jerk. Please leave the site and never come back. :D

Cool. So when it drops to $20 on Oct. 20, it'll be $10. Just like Dead to Rights 2.

$10 near me too, damn.

Remember, this is coming from the same guy that said the glitch had been fixed weeks ago and recently stated that the PS2 HDD went GT, both of which are not true.
Picked up Polarium today for 14.99

ebgames.com had it cheaper, but the couple extra bucks wasn't much of a problem for me.
$14.99 used ($11.24 a/c)

$12.99 new

You could've used the extra money for lunch..

Right now I'm thinking KOF2002/2003, CvS2EO, and CFE for free all for Xbox. What does anyone think?

Good luck finding a store that has all three in stock?

even then, I hesitate to buy it. Can't believe I paid 49.99 when it first came out...I made it to the begining of disc 2 before i quit in disgust.

Hopefully the DS version will be better.

Hard drive is on the list but it is not ringing correctly. As for the glitch it was to be fixed. Obviously it is not and will not be. Everone have fun with the buy 2 get 1 free next week. Only at TRU can you get 3 49.99 games for only 49.99...

I checked the GT additions list today and there's no sign of the HDD anywhere on there...? Not that it mattes much. I have a slim PS2, so I can't us it anyhow.

I remember someone saying the Metroid/Zelda GC bundles were GT'd. Anyone know if the Super Smash Bros. one is too (since it's fairly old)?

Please reply ASAP since my store has one but I didn't want to have him scan it if it came up as $99.99.

CFE? why not just save time and make it at home, Think of a bad game like rouge ops or birtney's dance beat and take a crap on it and put it in the blender, then crap on it again, and then you have CFE. I am a hardcore capcom fighting fan, and just pains me to see that game in my collection.

They're $29.99. RUN!
Dude...the Sma sh Bros. version came out in August.
Yep, the Metroid bundle has been out for well over a year. SMB bundle is fairly new, so no way it's GT. Our store has a ton of them left.

I went in today to pick up Tron and CoD... I had scanned CoD for Xbox Monday night, and it came up Green Tag (we're on the old ticket system at the shittacular store in Montgomery). When I went to the register today to get it, it doesn't come up GT anymore. It was really damned weird. They also never received Capcom Collections at all. Of all the TRU's I've been to in my life, this one has the worst staff and worst inventory management of all. They never check ticket prices and update them (which, as a CAG, works to my advantage), but worse yet... they have a shitload of stock in their security room that they never put tickets out for. So you have to go to the pickup counter half the time and ask for a game.. and look through the glass wall and point out the game that you're looking for due to an incompetent staff.

I dont understand what's so terrible about it. I don't care that its all recycled and that the graphics suck...I'm mainly interested in the Red Earth/WarZard characters, and the Darkstalkers ones.

And I did make one at home, on MUGEN. But there aren't any Warzard characters for MUGEN, and very few working Darkstalkers ones (there's no decent Anarkis or Morrigan!).

So there you go.
