Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.
If it worked at all, I think it would only work the first time (they write on your receipt to show that you adjusted the price, and I doubt they'd adjust an already adjusted receipt).
Some stores, like CC, will continue to adjust the price as many times as needed, as long as it falls within the stated period. For instance, I had them adjust the GTA Double Pack three times last year. Not sure if this is the case with TRU, though.

You guys are awesome. Many thanks goes to the TRU employees that fill us in. Ben, zon, and tubtub esp.

Thanks!

Hey Everyone, I Live In Long Island New York & Just Called 2 Toys R Us Stores Both Told Me They Aren't Starting A New Green Tag Sale And They Just Recently Destroyed There Green Tag Inventory! If Anyone Lives On Long Island And Has Heard Different Please Post Which Stores. I Spoke To The One In Westbury And Freeport!!

Stop Typing In All Caps Please Thank You.

Most TRU employees are clueless idiots, I'd rather take tubtub and Zon's word over theirs any day of the week. Most people that work in R-Zone know squat about video games and even less about TRU.

You spoke to me, I picked up the phone since the real employees were still trying to count my change of 53 cents.
What!

I went to class, came back, still no list =/

The anticipation is killing me.
Patience is a virtue my friend! :D A virtue which will save you from great disappointment.

I guess since no one else posted this yet, I'd post it. I wish I had better news, but TRU didn't send stores the list today. They added info on the sale, but that was about it. The sale will ring starting on Sunday. The only list stores are likely to get before then is the official list of items that are being carried over from the earlier green tag sale(about 200 items are being carried over). They said stores will receive an e-mail of the official list on Monday. Then starting Tuesday they will be deleting and adding items to the sale(much like last year). So it looks like there is going to be a lot of people randomly scanning stuff Sunday to see if it's on sale.

Tomorrow the list of carried over things should be up. The list I saw today contained about 40 R-zone items, which I believe is an incorrect list and is probably being adjusted(especially since almost all of them were long gone in the first green tag sale). Items such as I-ninja, Rayman 3, and XB R Racing Evolution were on it, but I think they probably haven't edited the list for this years sale yet. Hopefully there will be better news from one of us tomorrow(me, benboxer, or zon).

That's horrible.

So basacially the sale starts Sunday but no one has an official list until Monday, and then Tuesday they are going to further revise the list?

My store dosen't even have a price checker in the R-Zone, and I'm pretty sure the one employee dosen't have time to scan through 50 random items for me.

This totally sucks, hopefully some of you people with price checkers in the R-Zone can come through.

Thanks for the info tub. Seems like an odd way to do things, but oh well. The list issue is likely due to the fact that they moved the sale date up, eh? It's more fun to randomly find stuff on sale though. ;) I just wish I had more time to scan through stuff and get it checked.

Yeah that was all over the intranet today. Just said that the sale was moved up and it said the list would follow today but nothing ever showed up.

So, we're saying that TRU is having a sale starting on Sunday, but nobody knows what titles are included (and they probably won't be marked either). Thus, it will be a complete crap shoot then.

Like the $5 CC sale last year.;)

So, how many people are going on Sunday without a list just to get stuff randomly rung up? I am thinking about it, but I am not sure if it's worth the time for only 30% off. There might be a few gems, but I am not sure.

Good news for me, since I'll be out of town (and nowhere near a TRU) until Wed.

I'll probably stop by TRU and scan some random stuff just for the hell of it since it's right by Circuit City ;)

My store still has tickets for all the games that ain't $20 or less so they are pretty easy to do price checks on & this store dosen't have an enclosed R'Zone either so I can do price checks. The only thing that is a pain is alot of the games in clamshells I can't get to scan depending on where the UPC is on the game's case. My store never got any of the newer Altus games though.
QUESTION! Could I buy green tag items now, and return them within 45 days...rebuy them, and continue until they get cheaper? Just a thought.
HAHAHAHAHA! YES! That is the greatest thing I've heard today. (hmmm, and not really anything illegal about it either, hehehe)

I won't... no price scanner in R-Zone, and having the employee ring up a few games that probably aren't 30% off dosen't seem worth the hassle or time.

OK, first of all this is one really long list. I stopped in to get my check and the new list was now available. A few of you had mentioned Metal Slug 4/5, it is part of the list. I do not have a ton of time to post everything, but I will say the list is quite interesting. Most of the stuff is 19.99 0r 29.99 games. I have the dubious task of green tagging all of these games tomorrow so they are ready for Sunday. I am an R Zone World Leader so I get the fun jobs....I will have the entire list posted later this evening. If I do not get it posted quick enough, feel free to ask about specific titles and I will be glad to answer....

Weird that it's already on green tag (I assume it's clearance?) after only a month.

I paid full price on launch day though, don't really regret it. Seriously, at least throw us some of the highlights of the list to hold people over.

But this kind of goes against what tubtub had said, about how the list won't be out until Monday with revisions being made on Tuesday?

That's awesome... I have a few specific games in mind... what about these?

Resident Evil 4
Devil May Cry 3
God of War
Guilty Gear Isuka (It's 20 at EB right now)
Smash Bros Melee (I WILL not buy it until it's below 30 :) )

Also, are there any games that you found particularly interesting? Thanks!

He was correct, except that corporate moved the sale up to Sunday. We do not have to have every game tagged until the end of the week, but as a courtesy to the CAGers, my store will have everything tagged by Sunday morning-one of the Michigan stores....Also for those Alias fans, Alias is part of the sale.

Throw out some of the more shocking and interesting games now, if you can, for each of the systems.

I think that's what people are most eager to see, stuff that hasn't been clearanced out by other stores or that isn't generally garbage.

SMT:Nocturne perhaps? if DDS is, then N, must be....and that would be so kick ass.

How much does TRU sell GG: Isuka for?
Since I'm curious if it will be the better deal over Ebgames.com $19.99

I'll definitely have to pick up DDS.

Probably 39.99.

I'm glad to hear Metal Slug 4/5 is on the list, because I definitely want that game.

I wonder if Karaoke Revolution Volume 3 is on the list, because I was about to get the game, although my TRU only has a few.:(
i'm already pitching a tent... in my pants.
For some reason, I thought that was hilarious.

Anyhoo, I loved the sale last year. Hopefully this year will be good too. Unlike the previous CC sale I was actually able to get in on it and got quite a few diamonds in the rough.
Probably 39.99.
It's 50 bucks online.. haha

Oh, Sren, I meant Devil May Cry 3, not digital devil saga, thanks :)

I'll get MS 4/5 when it's really cheap, but there is no sense paying over $20 when I'm going to get it for Xbox :). I'll try to get Fatal Frame 2 too.

If you get time, could you post what you remember at least? I know I'm not the only CAG who wants to go prepared on Sunday. Hopefully my TRU won't be wiped out by the time I get a break at my job.

I don't know what that other guy is talking about, there is NO list and there is absolutely NO way of getting a list at the moment. So it's easy for me to call BS on his saying what's on the list and what isn't.
