Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

Here's the list, prices are before discount(NOW COMPLETE!):
I dont know if it means anything to you, but that Ultra Bust a Move is at regular price. It came out as a budget title. I have it, and it is very good, worth the money, IMO.
Great game...but I got it for $5 from Circuit city during the buy 2 for $10 deal. :)

yay for $6 R-type Final and $35 Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne!

sorry, I was gonna trade SMT...but i put it on ebay...my gamecube died, I need a new one so i can finish K7...dats da breaks.

Honestly, this newest green tag sale has been a "bust" for me! Three (3) local TRU's didn't have crap! Oh well, I guess you can't score on every cheap ass deal!

Nothing but a bin with 20 GBA crap games.
Where is the SALE?
Where are the games on this List on Page 1?
I went to 2 TRUS.
They looked at me like @##$%:bomb:

Im going to try and pick up SMT: Nocturne on Friday since im broke until then. Hopefully my TRU still has a few copies of it. They had a bunch a few weeks ago.
Wait a sec... I didn't see Gradius V on the master list in the OP. Is it green tagged? If so, I'd really love to get it, and I live very close to Zon's store.
Yeah, I saw a copy at my local TRU as well for $29.99 greentagged.. Didn't really dan on me to try and grab it now... I figure the I'll gamble and wait for 50%.
New Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne $60 - $75ish on EBAy
Seems like a lot of them popped up because of this sale-- I think it'll go down to like $55-60.
Yeah, I saw a copy at my local TRU as well for $29.99 greentagged.. Didn't really dan on me to try and grab it now... I figure the I'll gamble and wait for 50%.
Zon was cool enough to let me and my friend buy the Gradius V copies he had stashed at his TRU. My buddy also bought R-Type Final for $7 after discount and Onimusha 3 for $10 after discount.
Phantom Brave is $20-$5 off $15 at Bestbuy, EB and GS ;)
very true, but i just wanted to make note of it

The TRU here has multiple copies of several things I want (Metroid Zero Mission, Mario Golf Advance); so I'm planning to wait until they go 50% off.

They also had some copies of the original Tomb Raider (PS1). Have any of you played this recently? I wonder if it still holds up. I actually never played it and wanted to see if you think it's still playable (and worth $7).

can you grab these at 30% and take them back within 30 days to get the 50% off. THey got a bunch (around 12) gallop racer 2004 they are 34.99 now they would be 24.99 at 50% off...

if my SMACKDOWN vs RAW would fetch at least 20 tonight I will probally buy it cause it would cost me 12 bucks to swap this game out for gallop if they ever had it (What they never would)

Just picked up Rallysport Challenge 1 PH XBOX for $5.98-30% ( around 4.20). Two copies left at Downers Grove, IL 75th st.

My Toys R Us sucks.

I only managed to get R-Type Final and tomorrow I'm going back to get Soul Calibur 2. Gradius V was sold out.:bomb:
Is Mega Man X7 or X8 worth picking up? My TRU has a few of each.
X7 sucks.

X8 is pretty decent.

Went to the TRU in Lombard, IL (Butterfield Rd) last night and they had nothing worth mentioning. If anyone sees Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (GC) or Golden Sun (GBA) still in stock at any TRU in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago, please let me know.

I got Metal Slug 3. Had to exchange the one I got at one store for one at another cause the manual was pretty beat. One TRU also had Medal of Honor Rising Sun for $0.98! My dad suggested that we get a bunch for cases alone. They had like 6 left after we took 5 and the guy said there were a shitload more under the counter. I might go back and get a couple more cause I need some more cases.

I am just curious what your Dad "suggested" you do with the games. BTW do you have a dog or something that eats the cases for your games ??? LOL

my Nocturne auction is good, that it'll make you forget that you couldn't find it at the TRU sale....okay, not really...but you do get a free game and free shipping with it. Just thought I'd let people in this thread know, in case anybody wants a sealed copy.

Use the cases...

I bought preowned games at Blockbuster during the B2G1F promotion and need the cases. There were 45+ so I don't think they will miss mine.

If anyone still looking for SMT Nocture and lives near Monrovia in Southern California. I just picked one up there and there is one copy left.

My closest TRU still has one copy left of Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X Command Mission for PS2. I hope they are still there when 50% off starts...

Do we know when 50% is going to start now that the dates are different than initially reported? Planning on price adjusting Time Splitters 2 as I got it at 30% off and there were over a dozen copies left..

I still haven't gotten to my local TRU, but I plan on heading there this weekend. Not that I'm worried that someone has cleared them out. :)

Heh, went back the next day and found several copies of Gradius V, so I left happy. I'm going to go back and pick up Katamari Damacy today as there were TONS of copies of those. I don't think I'll go back for the 50% sale though as there wasn't anything worthwhile in my store, but I think I might check another store.

Get paid tpday, so after I foot my car repair bill (OUCH) I'll go go back and nab River Sity Ransom and maybe a few other things. I'm basically waiting for the 50% of though. I already Splurged 35 on SMT and it's just sitting unopened on my shelf.

*edit*Katamari is on that list? Sweet, I think ym store had about 2 left.

If you wanted Shin Megami for $35. Just call your local TRU customer Service Desk (ask them if any store near them have this game instock or NOT). If they do have the game instock you can ask STORE transfer.....and pickup at your local TRU.

All TRU stores in MO is OUT OF STOCK for this game but I ask them transfer 1 copy from Colorado to my local store (it on the to my local TRU now and i'll pickup later this week).

:)

I picked up 4 copies of SMT but decided I only needed 2 (one for me and one for a friend), so I returned the other 2. Didn't think it was worth hoarding to make a $10 profit. So, those of you in NYC should be able to snag one if you want :)

I went to TRU today because I needed to pick up a bday gift for my nephew. I picked up Onimusha 3 and Medabots Infinity (bro wanted it). I saw a bunch of other stuff I wanted but I can wait for 50%. Anyone in the Bay Area know a location where I can find SMT?

I wish they kept better stock of stuff at these places! I was able to grab SMT (the last copy :/) at Willow Grove, PA last night.

They also happened to have a very nicely organized stock and almost all of the green tag items were *GASP* actually tagged as green tag! The other TRU I had been to was badly organized and I think had about half of green tag items actually labeled.

edit: thanks OP for excellent post and list

the lack of labeling can pose to be a good thing down the line when the prices drop even more. Since we have the list of games, it shouldn't matter if their labeled or not.

Pv =)

I picked up the last copy of Samurai Warriors Xtreme Legends for $20.99. I also found a copy of Terminator: Dawn of Fate (PS2) and it was a penny! A questionable choice indeed as far as quality goes, but who am I to turn down a penny game? :)

I am on vaccation in Portland, Maine and I just got back from the TRU here. I got the last copy of Metal Slug 3 and at that store they did the weirdest thing where they just turned the cases of the games around when they were sold out (maybe thats normal but I've never seen it). I was wondering if there is a way I could get all the empty SMT cases and MS3 cases? They seemed to have at least 6 of each. If someone that works at a TRU would like to inform me on this that would be awesome!

Murrieta, CA
I picked up a copy of SMT yesterday and was happy because God didn't hate me. The USPS destroyed my computer over a month ago and yesterday I finally got the insurance claim check and it was for on $388....for my like $800 computer I built myself...bastards

I picked up Katamari Damacy and the PS2 version of Demon Stone, along with War of the Ring (which was also green taged) for $13.9X each. I also picked up a XIII and a Prince of Persia WW guide.

Ok, I have a question: does the game have to physically have a green tag on it, or are the prices reduced in the computer?

I ask this because I want Shin Megami, but it doesn't have a green tag on it. I asked the lady for the price, and without scanning it, she said $50 (that was the tag that was on there.)

To save me a trip back, does anyone know?
