New Update:

I have been fully refunded. I'm glad to see that Moatezhab is not a scammer- just a middleman trying to fix things.

So I spent $415 on $520 worth of amazon gift cards.

Do not purchase them- I see many CAG members have already have unfortunately.

All of the credit I obtained was zero'ed out by Amazon.

Hopefully, he will explain and resolve the issue.

EDIT: I purchased these around 10am today, redeemed, and I received the email at 2:36pm the same day.

Thanks for posting Demix. I was thinking of snagging one, but after looking at his feedback I started to wonder how anyone had so many $25 Amazon giftcards.

I was tempted to buy $300 worth of GCs.. I want to hear moatezhab side, and how he got the GCs in the 1st place..
Thanks for posting Demix. I was thinking of snagging one, but after looking at his feedback I started to wonder how anyone had so many $25 Amazon giftcards.
I was wondering the same thing thats why I didnt try to purchase his GCs
Ohhh shit....

Did you find out after you tried using the credit or before?
Before. I redeemed earlier today and went out. Came back, found he lovely email sitting in my inbox.

Hopefully we can work this out.

If you were affected, dispute the amount with Paypal now. If the money is still there, you might have a chance of getting it back.

If this is all an innocent misunderstanding, the dispute can be dropped - but better safe than sorry.

Thank you for the advice pookymeister. It seems no one else has had this issue with their amazon gift cards

I wholeheartedly hope this can be resolved.

I purchased 9 from him...used 4.

So, what should I do with the other 5? should I redeem it?
I'd never thought I'd be cought up in a possible scam like this....

I purchased a few amazon gift cards moatezhab too.
My amazon balance went to zero as well.
dang it.
seems like we were scammed.
:whistle2:(

yeah. I spent $180 on these GCs.

So should I redeem the other 5 I purchased?...to know if they will be canceled out or report it to paypal?

I doubt this will be worked out quickly, or at all.

As Pooky pointed out, if you've paid via Paypal, which seems like with the CAG in question being in Canada, do a Paypal dispute immediately. If you did payment via CC, bring your CC company into the mix.

Also, Paypal may or may not be able to do anything with getting money out of an emptied Paypal account, so I'd suggesting working with IC3.gov about this situation. The USPS may have issues trying to do anything with a non-US person.

Might as well try, do it like 2 at a time.. redeeming a whole lot of GCs might trigger a red flag for amazon.

do you guys agree with this? I mean with redeeming the other 5 to see if it will be emptied out.
I have already filed a dispute thing on paypal (I didn't buy the 9 GCs at once. First I bought 2, then 2 again another day, then 4 another day, and 1 hours later).

I purchased 6 GCs but have only redeem 3 of them and my balance is zero.

If the GCs are illegtimate, there is no point in redeeming them.
(it just doesn't feel like the right thing to do)
Might as well try to get the money back from paypal.
Good thing I used my credit card and can file a charge back if necessary.
(paypal won't be too happy thou if I follow that route)

I ordered two from him today. Redeemed both immediately, both worked (had $50 in my Amazon account). I got the "illegitimate means" e-mail a few minutes later, and it only affected one of the GCs. I called Amazon and told them exactly what had happened, and they told me that the gift card looked normal and there was not a hold on my account. They could not apply the gift card to my account, but the agent spoke to her supervisor and said that there will be an additional $25 deposited into my account within the next 48 hours. I would like to hear what moatezhab has to say about the situation, but it is disconcerting that this is more than an isolated incident.

Here's my story with moatezhab...

First thing I saw this deal, I purchased 2 (separate paypal transaction). Then I decided to buy 2 more (again, separate paypal transaction) after selling a few of my stuff for it and I think this was on the same day, but hours later. then the following day (I think it was yesterday) I purchased 4 more for $80 (different paypal transaction) so right now, I've purchased 8 for $160, then I bought 1 more....so overall I bought 9 which equals to $180.

Now...

Two of the first 4 GCs I purchased from him, I used to buy the red Alert game (decided to buy 2, so I used 2 GC code.), and I got an email from JR that my games have been shipped and I still have about $5 remaining on my GC balance so I'm guessing that the 2 I redeemed were legit...right?
The other 2 from the first 4 purchase I sold to someone for the same price I bought it for. I'm currently contacting him to know if his GC balance was emptied out as well. If they are, then of course I will HAVE to refund him of his money. If they are not and he says it's still there, then I'm also guessing that they are also legit...right?

The other 5 (the recent ones) I still haven't used/redeemed. And just now, I sent dispute on paypal about those 5 purchases.

So, my concern now is to FIRST find out if that guy I sold the 2 GC was emptied out. If it was emptied out, then I'll report a dispute again, and refund his money.
My second worry is about my other 5 purchase. I would really want a refund instead of keeping these 5 or maybe 7 GC codes that may or may not work.....

Any thoughts on this guys?

So so far, 2 GC code has worked because I still see the REMAINING money in my balance. The other 5 or 7 (from the guy I sold the 2 to) I'm uncertain.
I still have the other 5 GC codes un-used, and I have no problem sending them back or not using them, as long as I get a refund for them because I don't know if they will work or not, and I don't want to find.

Well no one knows what set off the amazon alarm. Its suspected something illegitimate is going on, but I'm waiting for an explanation.

If you've used your gift cards without any problem, don't just randomly do a chargeback... Thats just wrong.

I haven't used the gift cards yet.

Has anyone else who got the e-mail contacted Amazon yet? I would like to know whether they are telling everyone the same thing that they told me.

I purchased two gift cards from him and tried redeeming them earlier today. I also got an e-mail from Amazon stating that they've retracted the amount that I redeemed.

I've already filed a Paypal dispute.
I haven't used the gift cards yet.
yeah. sorry, mean to point my response @ you, just the other people that have ordered previously and redeemed without issues (seeing how I'm the first person to come up with this complaint).

moatezhab contacted me and told me everyone will be refunded. He's in the process of disputing with the guy he bought them from.
I opened disputes right now. I'll be calling PayPal tomorrow to notify them of the situation. Can you post in the thread about me and post my PM to you please. In no way do I plan on running from this and I will make things right as soon as I get in contact with PayPal tomorrow.

Thanks
Good to hear that you plan on making things right.

I would dispute it with paypal ASAP - if he's emptied the account then it will pretty hard to get your money back after that.

Might want to post on that forum too, to stop anyone else from being scammed.
I cannot post and right now am busy disputing everything with the guy I bought them from, so Im gonna kee this short.

Everyone will be refunded, no exceptions.

That is my supplier, moeman is my screen name there. I have many emails proving I bought from him. If you have any advice on how to get the paypal money back im all ears!

Thanks

So it only took 1 day for Amazon to empty out your balance for those that got their accounts emptied out? Maybe we'll all get that email, although I certainly hope not.

Looking at moatezhab's feedback, it definitely say that he's legit. The only problem is he made a deal to purchase these Amazon GCs from a scammer, but I don't believe that he's a scammer himself. I just want this to be resolved and his reputation not ruined because of this.

humm...
interesting.
hopefully, moatezhab can get his money back.
i wonder how many times the giftcards were sold before reaching us...
(ie. did the guy that moatezhab brought gift cards from buy it from someone else?)

Reading the thread i linked, the guy he bought from looks like he would be the source.

It would seem like he would be it.

you may want to post about this issue on here on the other forum so know one else gets screwed. Though you may wish to try contacting the person first. As far as paypal, hope you paid with credit card. I would dispute with paypal immediately without contacting the person in hopes that the person still has funds in their account.

Wow. I was looking at this thread earlier and was tempted to buy a couple, but then thought about how much I've been spending on other deals and decided to hold out. I'm glad I did now. I hope everyone gets there money back.

If you were affected by this, PM moatezhab to work it out.
Again can you post this on the forums. Currently i've recovered over half of the money by playing dumb with the seller. In response to everyone, I am not a scammer and everyone that has been affected will be refunded. Im calculating that even after the guy I paid for the gift cards refunds as much as I can get back i'll still be at a lose of $300-$375 USD. So I will constantly keep this updated and will be refunding to anyone thats giftcards do not work. Please be honest with me though so I can minimize the loses. If you bought 5 gift cards and 4 did not work, please ask for a refund for 4 at the moment.

This has not been easy on me at all, never did I think I was getting sucked into something this bad, I knew the deal was great but the seller had feedback from other people on the forum I linked to and they didn't have problems. I guess I jumped in to fast.

I know I shouldn't ask anything of you, but I hope you can be patient and forgive me for this problem. Im currently contacting paypal, the seller and admins on CAG and the other forum for advice/help/anything to possibly do.

My ultimate goal is to get this all sorted by tomorrow. Anyone with a dispute please keep it open as I am steadly recovering as much money as possible from this scammer.

I'll update this as soon as anything happens. As for the mods, can you unban me or at least give me posting rights again, it would be better if I can work this out with everyone that has been affected on the forums directly and so I can answer questions as soon as I can.

Thank you everyone, and again, I am EXTREMELY sorry about all this.

I certainly hope he provides us the name of his seller so we can steer clear of that bastard and shove him right onto the blacklist

Sounds like he may be in some deep shit with Pay Pal and Amazon. I am glad he is sorry about it and is attempting to work this out.

If it's too good to be true, you either found it in the deals section or it's a scam. Hard to tell these days.

Well that's the thing. It wasn't to good to be true.
$21 for a $25 gift card doesn't seem that bad.

But it depends on how good of a deal he was getting that also would have made it too good to be true for him ;P. But yeah, $25 for $21 is not that spectacular of a deal. If it was like $15, that woulda been a steal, but of course that would have been hands down a scam most likely, lol.
