What is Your Job and Do You Like It?

I've always had no passions or interests in life. My dad suggested I go into architecture because I used to play with Legos all the time. Now that I'm studying architecture, I'm increasingly getting the feeling that if I get into this field I would just be overworked, underpaid, and hating it. I'm unsure about getting into anything else, because I don't like anything. What is your job, and do you like it?

I'm in school for architecture, right now I work as a draftperson at a very small place. I don't mind the career choice but I mind were I work at now.

Supervisor of the Tire and Battery Center at a Sam's Club. Love the fellas and ladies I work with. Starting to wonder why I've been there so long.
More important question:

Who is your daddy, and what does he do?
Too slow munch, too slow :rofl:But I like the way you think.

Job #1: Research Associate at UCSD doing brain and tongue surgery on mice. Fun job, a little boring at times though. Definitely underpaid (but that's the down side of working in academia instead of industry).

Job #2: Manager at Blockbuster. Eh... it's got it's good days and it's bad days (bout a 50/50 ratio, even).

Currently I'm an electronics guy at Costco. The guys I work with are awesome, pay is $11.75 after only working there about 2 years, and I love chatting to people about electronics and educating them.

Not the best job, but it works, and pays the bills, and there are certainly worse jobs within the company.

Just working part time as a Grocery Store as well as working at the Hospital......kinda like an internship within the radiology department.

And I love both jobs, but I always always hate the drive to both.
Male prostitute and I hate it :bomb::bomb::bomb:
Pimp, someone better change their attitude or they're going to get smacked.

cashier @ Rona Home & Garden, quite enjoy it. Although starting monday I will once again be a labourer for a roofing company lol which will suck probably as much as it did last year.

I create interactive applications for remixing music for major artists working with wireless carriers to let fans remix (or mash) songs and send their version to their friends. Like BEP, Green Day, JT, and right now I'm working on one for the Projekt Revolution tour (LP, MCR, TBS, HIM) for both the web and at the events themselves. As well as a DDR-like game for the recent JT tour (which will be continuing soon). It's fun stuff, even if the bands aren't always my cup of java.

:D I totally didn't see your post. Otherwise I would have quoted it. :applause:

Station Operator for 4 small market radio stations (all owned by the same owner). Been there for about 3-4 weeks and love it. Before that when I was in high school, I worked as an assistant in the local public library in the reference department. It was ok, but my new job is much better.

I help urban students find community services (I've done this over 5 years at various places). I like it so much that I'm working on a school counseling certificate so I have some job security if I ever move.

Advertising sales. Really enjoy it. I love meeting people and of course the money is why you get into sales in the first place. ;)

Starting Monday, I work in the online department of the Weather Channel (weather.com).

My actual job will likely be pretty boring (deals with adserving) but the salary is good and the company is strong.

I deal cards at a local casino.

It definitely is a job that helps pass the time, and I don't feel like shooting myself daily going to/coming home from it. ;)

I'm in Electronic Engineering. When I was in High School, I was told that it was a great job with great money. Haw. Haw haw. How wrong I was. Electronics is shit, I hate it, and I'm trying to get into medicine.

Currently I work in contracting for the US Army. It's definitely interesting. I deal with both ends (contractor and customer) and spend lots of the Government's money. But I will be coming up on my one year anniversary in the job next month and I still don't know if I like it or not. All the negotiating and such takes a lot of getting used to for me, not being much of a people person myself. I'm more of a numbers guy. Ah well it beats my old job, and I'm making more than I was then even as a lowly rookie intern and with far less stress on my body.
I'm a doctor and notwithstanding the headaches with insurance companies, I love it.
I thought you were a nurse. Now I feel like a butthead.

Sorry OP, I don't have a job to contribute to this thread. I am a college student and an accounting major, for what it's worth.

Blackwater? If not, your cool factor is in the negative.

In school for biology right now, heading to become a Doctor... have the exact same feeling. But, I love what I do so work through the pain of crying at night ;-).

"My job consists of basically masking my contempt for the assholes in charge, and, at least once a day, retiring to the men's room so I can jerk off while I fantasize about a life that doesn't so closely resemble Hell."

Just graduated from college. I had an internship as a level designer/scripter at a game company my second year of college, which was awesome. It only lasted 5 months, but it was fun while I was there. Currently working on my portfolio so I can get a level design job in the game industry.

I'm the lead of the IT support at a customer location. Basically, I'm using this as just my middle-management stepping stone. I spend most of my time in meetings, on con calls and watching my department get cut and then having to explain to the client why we're behind and try to explain that they cut us.

I do some other things, but nothing that pays yet. I need to scratch that creative itch.

I just remind myself that they pay me to be there...

Yep, I am the antithesis of cool! I work for the DoD directly. The horror! I'm not a contractor, though I technically could deal with them it would be extremely unlikely, considering the department I'm in. Though I COULD volunteer to go to Iraq and do my job there they can't make me go and despite the gigantic amount of pay to do that, the long hours, bad conditions, and chance of exploding aren't high on my to do list. I just sit at my desk, and try to keep from being "that guy on the news that bought the $50,000 toilet seats". Heh.

American Beauty, right? I love that freakin' movie.

To the OP: I'm a district manager for Hot Topic. I love it. Pay's great, company rocks, excellent benefits and perks.

How great?

My job usually consists of listening to music and reading books. Too bad it doesn't pay better.

Tech support for an ISP.

I like the company, the pay is alright, and the benefits/perks are pretty good.

Do I like what I actually do at my job? No, not really. You can only walk idiots through opening up Internet Explorer so many times before it becomes redundant. That and I'm reminded every day of how stupid people can be.

English Teacher! High School! Going to start my PhD. in a year. Not sure where! Hell freakin yeah I love my job. I work 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, and I get December and summers off! Oh and I shape lives and stuff!

Professional student thanks to the GI Bill. Before that, Marine. It was fun sometimes but living in the barracks sucked at times.

I design covers for audiobooks. For an entry level job, the pay is pretty decent, but there is little chance for promotion, and my bosses are two brain cells above riding the short bus. Overall I like my job, but hate my bosses.
