What was the last concert/show you went to?
Nine Inch Nails
w/ Deerhunter

Thursday, August 7
Mohegan Sun Arena
Uncasville, CT
They had to cancel the Friday night show 'cause Trent's throat was bothering him.
You wouldn't happen to remember what The Melvins played, would you?
Just off the top of my head, I known they played a few cuts off A Senile Animal and Nude With Boots and then some older stuff like "Hooch" and "Boris." They also did a cover of the Who's "My Generation" as well as the national anthem.

What was the playlist like? Were there some things from Year Zero?

That sounds like a nice set list. I gotta see if I can track down a rip of them doing "My Generation", that sounds interesting.
awesome! how awesome was it?
It was a killer show...I've seen NIN live 30+ times and this was certainly one of the best "modern era" Nine Inch Nails shows I've been to. Great setlist, very energetic performances, technically amazing presentation.
They had to cancel the Friday night show 'cause Trent's throat was bothering him.
He had also canceled last Saturday's show in Minneapolis (the night before I saw them at Lollapalooza). He acknowledged that he was having voice problems at both of the shows I went to last week but I didn't notice it during his performances.

He rescheduled Worcester to sometime in November, right? I may have to go to that.

He didn't go too deep into the NIN back catalog, which (as a longtime fan) was a bit disappointing...he seemed very intent on finding the balance between greatest hits and new stuff. There was also a neat little 4-song Ghosts instrumental set in the middle of the show, which segued into a very cool, semi-acoustic version of "Piggy".

They did a lot off of Year Zero, actually. Here's the setlist:
999,999
1,000,000
letting you
discipline
march of the pigs
the frail
the wretched
closer
gave up
the warning
the great destroyer
1 ghosts I
5 ghosts I
19 ghosts II
piggy
the greater good
pinion
wish
terrible lie
survivalism
the big comedown
only
the hand that feeds
head like a hole
echoplex
god given
the good soldier
hurt
in this twilight
zero sum

It was sick. Both Dale Crover and Coady Willis sang all the lyrics while doing ridiculous drum fills between lines. So good.

Oh, and Jared Warren is fucking hilarious.

Damn, poor guy. Yeah, Nov. 9 is the new date. Can't wait.

I've yet to see them with the Big Business guys (last time I went, they had a fill in guitarist and were just later joined by Jello Biafra). I kinda feel bad for the BB guys though, having to do an entire set of their own, then go right back out to do the entire Melvins set. Gotta be tough.

That's a fuckin' great setlist. I really hope he plays The Good Soldier at my show.

I saw The Killers last week... I was pretty impressed...

I love their first album, and the songs live don't sound as good... almost, but not quite...

Their second album I hated and those songs sound 100 times better live... I was really digging 'em...

Great show.

Was that at that new MGM Grand Arena at Foxwoods? I wanted to go but we were in Chicago for Lollapalooza that weekend. How's the venue?

They're opening a House of Blues at Mohegan next year so I'm really thinking that Connecticut is going to start getting some really amazing shows over the next year or so.

Yeah Foxwoods... the venue is awesome.. free parking, cheap alcohol, casino right outside the theater, which is small so all the seats are good...

it's a home run!

I see you like IAMX.... any word on a new sneaker pimps album?

Black Cobra, damn I'd like to see them again.
What's on Tour EP III? Is it really good or something?
Features three new songs, you can only buy this EP at their shows. Should be like $5-8 at the show.
And I'm sure it's rare, liq.
Makes sense.

Now that's a price I'm willing to pay for merch at a show. I'll definitely grab that when I go.
Black Cobra, damn I'd like to see them again.
Never really checked out Black Cobra's music, looking forward to seeing them and Weedeater. Now if only Buzzov*en reunited.
Janelle Monae and Gnarls Barkley at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA on Monday night.

It was rocktacular.
Did Gnarls do the "Reckoner" cover?

Mayhem Fest. Saw Slipknot for the first time live ever. The singer is looking a bit more...emo than he used to. Still, I was blown away.

I think only because his mask and overall look is more slimmer as opposed to...Fat faced. Though far from emo, don't believe any emo vocalist can put half as much energy as Corey does on stage (or really the band as a whole).

The Men of Porn
Big Business
Melvins
Just got back from Delta Spirit and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. It was a really good show, plus it was free!
How is Delta Spirit live? They're coming around here in October with Dr. Dog and I've been thinking about the short trip to see it.
