I didn't care for Tropical Freeze and I used to love the original trilogy. I'm stoked these got released because I've been wanting to replay them for a while now.

where's kirby's return to dream land for $10???? i really hope nintendo release donkey kong ultimate collection on wii u. includes donkey kong country 1/2/3, jungle beat 1/2, donkey kong n64, donkey kong returns, and extra donkey kong classic 1/2/3 and donkey kong land 1/2/3 come with limited sound track msrp $49.99, lol

I don't think the sale is that good unless you were waiting for the classic games. If you weren't you only really save $7 while getting an SNES bonus.

pretty lame the color DKs are on Wii U and the black and white ones are on 3DS.  I'd rather play country1-3 on 3DS than wii u, makes it easy to pass on both I guess.

I got digital 3ds DKC i think from club nintendo last year?

I guess I am not alone in not caring for Tropical Freeze. Got to the last world, but it never felt as good as others make it out to be. IMO it was average at best. Rayman is the new go to game for me if I need 2D platformers (and Mario obviously). Tempted to get the old DKC games, but $8 feels to high for me.

i'm considering the donkey kong country games, it's been 20 years since i played them but they were so awesome in those days, never played the 3rd one because i moved on the N64 when it was released

this might be an off topic question, but if our wii u crashes do we permanently lose our downloaded games?  or is it like the other consoles where it's tied to our account (as it should be)?

It's tied to the account.

I agree with the other folks who don't like Tropical Freeze.  I bet I dislike it more than they do, and I would go so far as to say Tropical Freeze is critically broken.  It's designed from the ground up to be multiplayer, but it drops the ball on every level.  The camera is spastic and all over the place; Donkey Kong himself is completely useless alone, so the first player gets to suck without help, and the second player gets to do nothing while Donkey Kong constantly needs you on his shoulders.

It's not fun because it's frustrating.  How they ended up making a worse multiplayer game than the original trilogy, I'm not sure.  I'm sure it got playtested to death, so I guess they intended it to be this way.

I really can't understand all the praise Tropical Freeze has gotten.  Sad use of $50 or $60 or whatever dollars for me.

its tied to account but in case your wii u (or 3ds) dies or is stolen it requires calling into nintendo, providing stuff like the serial number / nnid, and then waiting 3-20 days for them to reattach the licenses to that NNID.  You can only have one wii u and 3ds per nnid too

upgrading to a new system when you still have your old is easier though, have to just use the system transfer tool over wifi and it is done in a few minutes to a few hours

I completely disagree. I haven't experienced any of these issues you say you have. It's been an extremely fun game. Yes, it gets frustrating at points, because you have to have exact timing, but, that's been the case with all of the games in this series.

Who are you playing with? I bought it to play with my fiancee (she enjoyed the SNES ones). She always gets the characters that are actually good, and I'm stuck with the gamepad playing Donkey Kong, who is only good when someone is on his shoulders. :) Meanwhile, one person falls in the water, and the camera flies to them. It's difficult keeping everyone on screen which blows my mind. There are only two players, and meanwhile, one of the players has a screen in their lap attached to their controller, so why does it have to be an issue to keep both on-screen?

We did not have a good time with it. She's not good enough to really power through, there were camera issues all the time, and I'm not good enough to do very well with just Donkey Kong.

I'm not sure if delay from my TV was a factor. I think it would be with the SNES Donkey Kong Country games, as it is with Mario World and so many other retro games, but I haven't noticed it being an issue with modern games (which I guess are built with darn laggy TVs like mine in mind, but maybe that is contributing to the frustration factor with Tropical Freeze for me--it certainly was a problem with NES Remix, but that is built on retro games, so it makes sense there since the retro games have issues on my TV)

If anyone wants to split the cost of Mario vs. DK with me, PM me. (When you purchase the game, you get a DL code for the other version. So instead of paying $20, we'd each pay $10.) Also include which version you'd prefer to have.

Just purchased OlliOlii, and despite that it says you get the other version free only if you pay full price, you do in fact get both at the "special introductory price" ($8.49 instead of $9.99). Glad Nintendo got this one right!

Seems kinda pricey for yet another MvDK game..... but I am glad Nintendo is taking another small step into finally joining us in the 21st century with cross buy. It is safe to assume you can transfer saves between both versions..... right?

Anybody play Falling Skies? Looks like an Xcom clone. Haven't watched the show.
Why would you play the game without watching the show?

And FWIW the show isn't anything special either. Season 4 was really the first time it became even remotely worth watching..... if the game's story is half as crappy as the show I can't even imagine.....

You never know with Nintendo. I'd say no, not transferable...because that's how they roll.

But that kinda defeats the purpose of cross play doesn't it?

I mean I'm still happy we have cross play but damn I can't believe they'd be incompetent enough to not let you transfer saves.

Cross Buy and cross play are not the same thing. Even on Playstation cross play is not the standard.

I think you mean this:

Completely disagree about the show. I started watching it on Amazon Prime a few months ago and I'm about to finish the 4th season. It's like Walking Dead except with aliens instead of zombies. The special effects and production values may not be on the same level but I find the story and characters more interesting. It has gotten a little out there at times but for the most part I find the show very engaging and at the end of every episode I want to move on to the next one right away.

What I've read about the game hasn't been particularly good, sounds like it has pretty bland graphics, decent but unoriginal gameplay, and that the story, which should be a highlight, is meh.

I am aware of the difficulties in cross save or w/e you wanna call it. I wouldn't have thought that would be much of an issue for a game as simple as Mario vs Donkey Kong. Then again I guess they are including a level editor so what do I know? It still feels like a major oversight but I'm happy it's included all, it's about damn time.

Opinions I guess, to me it feels like a show about a family of Mary Sue's

one of which actually becomes President of what's left of the world

If that whole family died off and the rest of the cast was left to carry the show I think it'd make for a much better experience.

I also like how they keep comparing their war to the American Revolution as proof that they can win it when a far more apt analogy would be to compare it to the slaughter of the Native Americans.

This looks pretty interesting, will probably grab it for $5.
Just finished it. It looks great but has the Kirby and the Rainbow Curse problem of you having to stare at the touch screen the whole time so you don't get to see it in it's full glory on the tv. Not really much to it other then it's artstyle. No real story (other then a couple haikus) and the few puzzles are barely puzzles. For $5 it was ok for the hour or so it took me to finish it but I don't think I'd recommend it.

I remembered to buy it last night. That's basically what I'm expecting out of the game though, a short, nice experience with some great art.

Was there any word about us getting Zero Mission soon since it didn't drop this week like in the EU?

So the eShop has no cart system? I had to buy the MSF games in separate transactions, kinda silly.
Nope, neither does MS though.

Having just bought them Thursday, I relaly like them though they seem a bit short based on the number of levels displayed at the level select.

It's not too often you see a puzzle platformer that leans toward the old school traditional playformer. Itn has jumping and shooting enemies but the main part of it is figuring out how to save the innocents. And there's a timer with a goal to beat so it's the type of game that you're expected to play over and over.

Thanks ... at $3.98 US for both, it seems a steal
