Hey eastx, those Zune links worked great to get the Star Wars games.

Any idea if there's a similar way to get Project Sunburst or the Fast and the Furious?
Highly unlikely (especially for Project Sunburst), but of course I'll post if anything turns up.

MeatWad, agreed that the trolling reviews are especially annoying. I hope MS goes through and cleans them up some day.

I was just able to download and buy Hoth via the zune links. You might want to try it again if you want the games.

Fable Coin Golf was an easy $3 for me to spend I was beginning to get a bit worried after that super monkey ball disgrace that was the DotW last week.

I just got a Windows phone. I'm picking up Fable Coin Golf and thinking about ilomilo (grr missed the sale).

How different is the phone version of ilomilo from the XBLA one? Are the puzzles/story different or is it just a port?

Welcome to WP7!

I could be wrong, but I think the main levels are all the same. The bonus levels are probably different (they're definitely less complex than some of the XBLA version's bonus levels). The WP7 version is excellent and controls great. For me the levels being the same didn't matter because I don't have them all memorized, but it may be different for you.
How are the achievements for Fable Coin Golf? Are they annoying or hard to do?

EDIT: Just looked it up, gold rank in all holes? Sounds too brutal.
Nothing unobtainable or too hard. Some holes are more of a trial and error before you get a gold medal. I got the full 200 gamer score and I bought the game yesterday. Not as challenging as you think once you get the hang of the puck

I'm not 100% positive, but I think most of the levels are different from the XBLA version. They're a little bit simpler but still a lot of fun.

Thanks! (i'm still figuring out a bunch of non-game stuff on this thing. Just gotta find a good forum for that. Lol)

With ilomilo I just wanted to make sure that it's not the exact same game since already have it for xbox.

Well, Tyler's probably right then. I'm sure I played at least one of the same levels on both versions, but it sounds like they're different enough.

You should check out WPCentral (whose links I pimp frequently) as it's the best site for WP7 news, etc. We have a good forum there and it'd be great to have you join us.

If you haven't had a chance to try it yet, the "Mango" update is also ridiculously awesome. It improves just about everything, while only ruining one aspect (the way the back button functions in IE).

Imo its good I wouldn't call it awesome though. Sadly my work forces me to carry mine or else id have android or iPhone. It will be better once the apps have the multitasking feature built in but mango just makes it what it should have been on launch.

Android and ios were the first smartphones from google and apple. Microsoft has been in the game for years and should have done better. We'll see a year from now if they are any different but I seriously doubt it. People will still be making excuses for it ans why there is still a lack of apps and prices are still more expensive.
When ios came out it was better than most phones on the market even though it was missing features. Android lacked major apps but the updates were frequent and the level of customizing was good. I don't see much making wp7 to stand out except the ability to get achievement points and it being pretty stable.

What?

Just because WP7 isn't MS' first smart phone, doesn't mean they don't have to find their way. WP7 is a vastly different from their previous attempt.

No one is making excuses, but if the other companies got a year to greatly improve their phones, why shouldn't MS? Honestly, it sounds like you're the one making excuses for reasons to rag on it.

Competition is good. Even if you don't like one of the smart phone companies, you should WANT it to do well, so the company you do like has reason to improve.

I agree mango isn't as great as people are making it out to be. I don't care to go back to premango though since everything is a bit better. The new application menu with letters in between all the apps annoys me though. I don't have that many apps on the phone to care to quick jump by clicking the letter and it just makes it take longer for me to scroll through my apps. I wish you could disable it. I can't wait until spotify though. I don't think its available yet or if it is I can't find it. If you don't like your phone from work and pick the one you like and sign up for your own plan. Or if you are on ATT just buy one outright and put your sim in it. As long as it isn't a blackberry, iphone, or 4G phone it shouldn't make you change the plan ever so your work most likely will never know if you don't tell them. Unless they have some app that has to run on wp7.

Anyways back on subject of the Deal of the week. Can't make up my mind on it so far I'm leaning to skipping. I hope something good is on sale this week. Most the thing that have been sale recent have glitches according to the reviews so I skip most of them. I haven't bought a game since parachute panic.

Aww Sleepy, I think Fable's great. Very high production values for a WP7 game with awesome graphics, sound, and a silly and well-written story. But I guess it's not for everybody.

I agree with Sean that Countrygurl is being too hard on WP7. Not that it doesn't have problems (launching without custom ringtones was so lame!), but of course it will take time for it to catch up to iPhone and Android. The platform isn't going to leap forward and have 1 million apps just because somebody stomps their foot and says it should. Microsoft is continuing to improve the OS, perhaps not as fast as we'd all like, but it will get there.

What about it didn't stack up to other phones for you? Saying its late doesnt really detract much for me when it still has so many features that arent on other devices or poorly implemented on said devices.

Ok stupid stupid question:

I got charged tax for the WP7 games I got. As far as I know, Illinois doesn't have a tax on digital downloads. (No tax on XBLA purchases, for example.) Is this normal? Is there a way to avoid it?
You're correct, you can't use custom ringtones before Mango.
When is Mango getting released? Also how do you do the custom ringtones in it?
When is Mango getting released? Also how do you do the custom ringtones in it?
I dont know specifically, and if its like past updates, it will depend on the carrier and sometimes the phone. I had heard that the new batch of WP7 phones coming out in the next month or two will have Mango on the natively. If youre really itching to try it, there are ways to update now, but it involves unlocking the phone.

There have been articles that talk about how the custom ringtones are implemented in Mango, but as I mentioned, Mango is in the wild so people have had a chance to use the custom ringtone feature. Unless it gets dropped before the update goes live, it will be in there.

This month supposedly. Can't wait.

I'm not sure I'll upgrade to another WP7 device though.
I love it as a phone and love the interface, but I'm just so attached to the iOS marketplace, and have missed a lot of apps that I don't have when my iPad isn't around.

I'm just chiming in to say the Fable Coin Golf achievements were pretty easy for someone looking for an easy 200. It was also quite fun and I didn't know about getting all the money and unlockables for Fable 3 either.

That is why I have an iPad, and my phone is win7. Best of both worlds, wife has an andriod phone too.

Edited: not sure I am a fan of iOS store however and the free content. I think the illusion of free has hurt developers and spoiled people to think all games and apps should be free

Yeah I'll probably give it a go, do you know what new game we're getting Eastx ?

BTW I finally registered for WPCentral and will start commenting.

I just got a WP7 on Sunday (Samsung Focus) and so far I am loving it. I downloaded Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja so far along with the free Sodoku, Minsweeper and Flowerz. Free games with Achievements! Gotta love that!

Any suggestions for other games I should buy? I am thinking about Flight Control.

GODS I can't wait till I get a Windows Phone 7 after the new Mango phones are out... I am going to buy the whole game marketplace!

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to share the same copy of a game across two WP7 phones in your household???

Also, is there a way to buy the games in advance without having the phone? (So I can get deals while I wait for Mango phones)

And yes, I know they are upgradeable, but a new batch of phones is coming out with Mango on them. Might as well have the latest tech!

Thanks man, that will definitely help.

Here's tomorrow's game. (We usually announce it by Thursday of the previous week.)

http://www.wpcentral.com/gravity-guy-flips-xbox-live-september-7

TealPavinski, you should get Fable Coin Golf tonight, while it's still on sale. If you like Flight Control, you might consider Harbor Master, which is a bit better IMO though the Achievements are much harder.

ElektroDragon you can buy games through Zune on PC, but only *after* you've associated a Windows Phone with your Zune account. Wish it was otherwise. And no, nobody but the purchasing Xbox Live account can use your purchased games. The only way to share would be to have the same account on both phones. You can only have 1 Live account per phone.

If you go to a store with live demo phones you can master reset the demo and put your live info in. That's what I did when they came out and art was giving ilo Milo away for free. Just be sure to master reset it again before you live.

My Fight Game: Rivals review

Gravity Guy lands on the Marketplace

And this one's cool...

Minesweeper updated, sheds excess mines

If you haven't finished Minesweeper yet, it's definitely time to give it another shot,

I tried Pocket God on iOS and WP7. I never really understood the point of it. Is it a game or do you just screw around with it?

At $2, I picked it up today. What the hell, right? :)

Pocket God has some little minigames you can discover, and I guess the overall goals are just the stuff that makes up the Achievements.

BTW Hoffer, did you read the Beards & Beaks interview? I asked them about some of the stuff you mentioned a while back.

Pocket God is interesting. Screw around with the natives while you're bored. There are definitely worse games out there for $2, and some easy achievements.

I just tried the Gravity Guy demo, but that seemed really good.

I bought Pocket god too. Haven't played it yet, hoping for easy cheeves. Gravity seems good though like you said.

Bejeweled Live is really fun, not a big fan of that genre but I really enjoyed it. You probably missed Fable coin golf for DOTW, but that is quality. Ilomilo and max and the magic marker are quality titles. I like OMG. It is short, but fun and easy achievements. The Harvest is also good, but expensive. Good feedback from friends on ionballx, tentacles (loved the demo), Sally's Salon Luxery, Plants Vs Zombies.

Some free/low cost non-live titles I like are Flow, 3d paperball, ninjaboy, piggybounce, Swipyman, Unite. Too many to mention really. Hope those recommendations help you get started. :)

Try Sally's Salon. I put more hours into that game than any others. Tentacles gets ridiculously hard later I wish I never purchased it. Plants vs Zombies is always a good choice.

Looks like Collapse! is the game for next week for 2.99. I got it free on android from amazon when they started giving away an app a day and really liked the game. I'll download the trial and probably get it but I might wait. I'd buy it right away f it was a sequel or if I hadn't beat it on the other phone os all ready.

I think eastx posted before that a patch is coming for Tentacles soon to make it easier.

Gravity Guy gets pretty hard too, but I'm still digging it. Kind of reminds me of a horizontal Doodle Jumper.
