Anyone with a PS3 can get Dragon Dogma : DA free with plus if you didn't know. Save your money.
I believe that ends on December 3rd. I wouldn't recommend getting an RPG for a few days. Definitely should pick it up during this sale if you want to play it without rushing.

is there a way to pay with my credit (or whatever the new name for microsoft points is) on Xbox.com, or do I have to go through the console?

because I unfortunately keep getting this error code on my xbox:

"Your console can't connect to Xbox Live. Do you want to exit this session and test your network connection? If you are playing a game, you will lose any unsaved progress.

80151901 "

every other device on my network connects without a problem, and my console was working fine/connecting fine up until today. I've tried resetting my router, etc etc, it just wont connect.
Just try again a little later, had the same problem with both consoles yesterday...seems that Xbox Live has some slight issues again... and no you can't use your balance on xbox.com...I asked the support about the issue and it doesn't seem that they want to resolve that anytime soon..I even doubt they will change it back again *sigh* will be hard when traveling in the holidays..

That's not the way ps+ works. Once you get a game, you keep it for the remainder of your membership.

that's hugely disappointing, bought a couple points cards specifically to grab a couple games for the one day sale today. typical microsoft.

Can anyone recommend BattleBlock Theater to someone who doesn't really play multiplayer?  Would I enjoy it as a purely solo experience if I'm a fan of 2D platformers?

I haven't played it but I researched and asked a lot about as I don't play multiplayer either. Everything I heard was the same stuff about how the game felt flat for solo and you could always see that multiplayer was intended as a focus.

I played this game Solo and did enjoy it, it can be hard sometimes (not Super Meatboy Hard but hard lol) Still need to do co-op on normal and insane for 2 achievements though...but I could enjoy the gameplay and Story for myself until now =)

EDIT: Speaking of Multiplayer and Co-op, I still wish there was an option in some games to get some achievements when you do Singleplayer OR co-op not Singleplayer AND co-op seperated...and any games that don't NEED multiple playthroughs and could be done with the 1st playthrough except the second playthrough offer more than a harder difficulty...)

Haha, I'm sorry but I laughed out loud at this. I wonder how many people actually think this is how it works. I'm always surprised to see how many Playstation owners don't have or want Plus.

But Xbox does do this better - the digital games are usually much smaller for some reason. For Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, it's only 7.79GB compared to Playstation's 11GB. I think Hitman Absolution was also 11GB - on Xbox, it's only 7. And you really need double the space to create a temporary iso so you can actually install it to your Playstation. A lot of wasted bandwidth there.

Still trying to budget out what I want from these sales. Good news is that nothing for today excited me

Was thinking Dark Souls, Battleblock, and Blood Dragon for Monday. But I think I'm going to pass on Dark Souls because I don't have the time or the patience for it. Will probably sub in LA Noire since I've never picked it up.

Grabbed Wolfenstein 3D and Motocross Madness so far.

This is because the 360 uses DVD's while the PS3 uses Blu-ray. A shame that compression couldn't be better on the PS3 but some games like Metal Gear Rising and SSFIV Arcade Edition are huge.

Anybody else notice the magic 2014 expansion is supposed to be half off? There's a tile for it in the games section that says "Magic 2014 & expansion both 50% off" I selected it and the expansion is still $4.99. There's also a "free" expansion with the exact same name that I'm going to assume is just like a compatability pack, but downloaded it anyway.

I would definitely endorse it. I bought it last time it was on sale, have really only played solo, and was really surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Must have put in 10 hours the first weekend I had it.

Same here.

I was jumping back & forth on whether I should get Shattered Dimension, but I'm pretty sure I don't need another superhero game. Arkham City is more than enough for now. Maybe if they go on sale again, I'll think about it.

So my final list (I hope) is Skyrim (because I stupidly sold the game), Witcher 2 and Rayman Origins. I'm on the fence about grabbing RDR again since I have $50 in my account but I don't know whether I should just wait and maybe grab a used copy much cheaper. I've already played through the story, I just want it to roam around the world and start Undead Nightmare which I bought years ago.

P.S. I highly recommend grabbing LA Noire. It's not a full open world like RDR or GTA, but it's not completely closed off like Max Payne 3. It's a nice mixture of both, with an amazing story. Though you can say the gameplay gets sort of repetitive, but I really enjoyed the story so it never felt like I was doing the same thing over and over again for the hell of it. I don't know if the DLC is on sale as well, but if they are, I suggest grabbing them as well because they add more to the over-arching story/theme throughout the game.

I bought and started downloading Dragon's Dogma at 8 in the morning today, its 2:38 in the afternoon here in California. And the download is just nearly 60 %

I got the solution for both of you: why don't you play it together? XDD

Jokes apart, the game is still a blast playing solo, and a must if you like platformers. Of course coop is very well implemented and genuine fun. Honestly its a no brainer at that price. The level editor alone worths it. Demo it if you have doubts.

Add me for some coop if you want ;)

I played the demo for sacred citadel. I can see he it's comparable to castle crashers, but the movement seems a little slow. Do things pick up as you level?

Never knew that, thanks. Makes getting ps+ much more appealing, especially with the BF sales.

Bikini Squad impressions? The price is nice, but I haven't heard anything about it.

It's essentially Dynasty Warriors style gameplay with a different setting, so if you like games like Dynasty Warriors or Ninety Nine Knights it's definitely worth it for that money.

Regarding Dark Souls, this is one painful game to play.

I have never thrown my controller across the room in frustration except for this game.  It does not care if you are enjoying yourself it's only goal is to see how often you can die and how creatively it can make that happen.  If you play games for fun, this game is not it.  It is a really twisted game.  If you like Super Meat Boy, Alien Hominid or Ninja Gaiden brutal type games and have lots of hours to spare, then this game is for you, otherwise, it may not be worth you money.  Every victory makes you want to stand and fist pump.  I was only able to play in short burst because it was very frustrating.  I play for fun and as alternative to TV or in social settings.  I finished this game but would never ever play a second round.

I am not a hard core gamer, but many of you guys are and in that case it is recommended.  It is definitely not for everyone.

I felt the same way about Dark Souls. I can definitely understand why some people love it but that's not what I'm looking for in a game.

Dark Souls is definitely a game for patient gamers.
Meh. I don't consider myself impatient but I prefer games where I can grind to make the game easier if I'm being patient. Dark Souls really doesn't provide that option. Materials have such a low drop rate and require so much to get. Soul grinding is slower than anyone's patience. So you're back to, if you like the challenging gameplay and learning patterns and things then it's for you. But patience isn't really all that's required. It's more drive to prove yourself or be competitive in multiplayer. Neither of which appealed to me.

Yeah, after thinking about it, reading the various opinions of people on this forum and other and re-watching some videos about it (HunterStarcraft's awesome walkthroughs in particular), I've decided to skip Dark Souls.  I really like the story/lore of the game and the overall look as well, but I think mechanically it would be just too frustrating to attempt myself.

I miss turn-based RPGs.

Web of Shadows is the only one I've played, but it was awesome. I bought Shattered Deminsions years ago, but have yet to play it.

Ended up getting Metro: Last Light, DD: Dark Arisen, and The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. I might pick up Rayman Origins as well when it goes on sale Monday.

Does anyone know if Target stores carry different denominations of Xbox Live Gift Cards (or whatever the hell MS Points cards are called now)?  Do they have $5, $10, or $15 cards?

Yea they should have the $15 ones. They also carry those at my grocery store now actually.

Speaking of grocery stores, the funny thing is that my Publix still has 1600 MSP cards. They haven't switched over to the regular currency cards yet.

But as far as you know, Target doesn't have anything below $15?

Everything I've seen from Giant Bomb's Load Our Last Souls series of Dark Souls videos is that patience is a core factor in Vinny's success throughout the bosses he's beaten, as he learns the enemy placements and the patterns of their attacks to figure out the best way to get to where he's headed. He has the most difficulty when he's trying to rush through areas, getting swarmed by enemies, and putting himself in unnecessary situations that makes it harder for him to progress. I never said that patience is all that's required, but those that aren't willing to slow down and take their time to explore are going to have a bad time because they're just pushing against what it's trying to teach them.

I've never seen one anywhere less than $15 besides Gamestop's digital only codes. Never seen a physical card that low

Kinda surprised to hear many are skipping Dark Souls at that price, which is one of the best games for these consoles. It's not that challenging if you don't rush like a mofo. If you really have a hard time, choose pyromancer class, which makes most of the bosses quite easy with the magic.

There are three kinds of gamers: those who haven't played Dark Souls, those who tried and rage quit and those who persevered and prevailed. You are missing an incredible journey of exploration and accomplishment if you belong to the first group.

To bad they made way easier after few months after release... I beat it then they make ai to easy imo.. To many whined and they said they would not make easier but to many cried to ignore it. I dare u to remove update and play to the end by scratch. lol

^ This is the case with most games these days. People want to hold ''Up'' to beat the game.  I recently finished GTA V and they not only have added tons of checkpoints, but also give you option to skip action scenes if you die 1-2 times. -_-

Sorry for the off topic.

I agree that games are much easier now, than say 2 or 3 generations ago. But for those "middle-aged" gamers (like myself) out there with limited gaming time, extra checkpoints and such make games much more friendly to our schedule. With work and family, gaming time can be limited. So having the ability to play in 1-2 hour chunks is a huge plus. I'm not up for skipping hard sections, but more frequent checkpoints means I can tackle games that I otherwise wouldn't have the time committment for.

I am in your situation as well. Especially when you have kids it is really hard to find some free time play.

I was a Kickstarter Contributor for Shadowrun Returns because I was a big Shadowrun fan. The initial game had such very long checkpoints that you could not just leave, take care of the kids then come back. Many complained for and against this aspect of the game. The authors did not patch the original, but the next chapter of the game will have more frequent checkpoints. It took me a long time to finish the game because I needed to do it late at night when everyone was asleep so I can just make it to the next checkpoint.

I finished Dark Souls before the patch. A lot of people including a few from the IGN, 1UP and Gamespot complained at the time and even had articles talking about if it was fair given the money people pay. This prompted From Software to patch the game to make it easier. Dark Souls game play inspired a lot of game designers as to what a game could be.

There is an excellent article in Forbes Magazine right now about how Dark Souls inspired the designers for the PS4. They consider Dark Souls and its predecessor Demon Souls one of the most important games of its generation among the who is who of the gaming development world. It is a nice write up of how it influenced other games and Shuhei Yoshida talks about how it inspirted him.

All that said, it is not a game for causual gamer.

I do not mind a hard game, just wish they have a setting to adjust how hard it will be. That is all. Many of us do not have that much time to play. Although, I will give Thanks to my wife for taking the kids and herself to her parents house to give me today Saturday to play all day long.

FYI: For your non-XBL Gold Member friends, Amazon has Dark Souls download code for $5.99

My only complaint with dark souls is the multi-player. I love the difficulty, I just want some true coop

Contemplating la noire, but I've been holding out for the complete edition since I've missed those dlc sales back in August.

You don't need Gold for this sale. Most of the big holiday sales don't.

What do you mean? I was going to pick this game up with a friend to play co-op and now you've given me pause. In Demons Souls it was fairly easy - you just had to drop your sign somewhere your friend would see it. Is it different in Dark Souls?

I picked up the only game of relevance in this sale, Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad. I have high expectations going into this one.
