No one who gets a new Xbox One has any choice but to buy that stuff full price though. You're early adopters and your system isn't backwards compatible. Why discount the few things you have available for sale and hope you move enough to make more than if you just sold them at full price? It doesn't make business sense economically as the other poster said. It's the same reason why there hasn't been a sale on the $20 XBLA games that have sold well. They may move slightly more units but they really don't need to. They're moving units with no discount just fine.
I don't know. Sell very few copies of Crimson Dragon or Lococycle at full price or get a spike in sales for a day or two. Some is better than none, IMO. You make a good point, though. I'm just being optimistic.

I guarantee you both those games are selling very well at $20.

Major Nelson also confirmed there won't be any xbone content during the Holiday sales.

So, Forza Horizon... is it open world kinda', or are the circuits just meant to look like it?  Can I just... drive around wherever?

I now nothing about racing games outside of Burnout.  I suck at racing.

It's basically a Forza-themed Burnout Paradise. A bit more serious than BP and a bit more light-hearted than the typical Forza game.

You can just drive around wherever. You unlock races, but otherwise the map is wide open from beginning.

Online isn't terrible, but not great. Cool thing about online play, you win cars and $$ by leveling.

Well, crap. Major Nelson put up a blog post that Forza Horizon is the sale for tomorrow. I was really hoping it would be a Forza day and both Horizon and FM4 would get sales. One game and it's overpriced season pass (though a good discount on the pass) is pretty lamesauce compared to the last couple years' end of the year sales where they had more items each day.

I dunno. I'd say they would make a good killing off of season pass sales on all the new Xbox Ones from Christmas if they did a sale on them on Christmas Day.

Exactly. There aren't many games/DLC to buy for a launch console so recently released so it will sell regardless. Think of all the season passes that will be bought at full price on Christmas Day.

Like he said, I'll add on that it's open world set in Colorado with a variety of environments as there is a country town, a more built up town, desert, mountains, flatlands, farmland, dirt roads, country roads, freeways a golf course for a good amount of variety in the areas. However, you are fairly contained to the roads except at the golf course, farmland area and a few other areas. Basically, there are often areas you can explore around in, but you can't literally drive anywhere as a lot of roads have fences/natural barriers that you can't drive through. When it comes to races, some are circuit type races while others are more open and allow some flexibility in pathfinding although the checkpoints you have to hit constrain your options. Also, the rally expanson included in the season pass does not provide a new area to explore and is not free roam. It's just races.

Oh, no. Is Zer0 that bad? I just started playing BL2 the other day since it was free on PS+, and I picked Zer0 because he's an homage to Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe (and he can even look like the spitting image with customization). If he's that bad, I'll just start the game over and pick a new character.
Yes, Zer0 is THAT bad. Restart and play with Axton or Maya. You'll be glad you did.

Nah. No he isn't. It just depends on your gameplay style. I like to snipe and be support. So Zer0 is perfect.

When you get a high enough level, you get mad bonus Crit Damage with Snipers.

Terraria....Bad Graphics? the game has perfectly fine graphics there supposed to be like that, unless your expecting super mega next gen Battlefield 4 or Ryse graphics on a game that's supposed to be like Minecraft. I payed full price at launch and the game has more than enough content to justify the $15 price tag. Microsoft throwing it on sale for $5 is a steal.
Mentioning Battlefield 4 graphics compared to this game is as stark as the difference between Keystone Light and Duvel.

The Forza season pass is tempting, but only because the Rally Pack has never gone on sale.  I really couldn't care less about anything but the Rally Pack.

So am I SOL or is there a way to purchase items (mainly the Horizon season pass) online using your current account balance? I'm away on vacation and not near my Xbox so I can't purchase it anywhere else but the website. I know you used to be able to use your MS points (before the conversion to real money) but they must have changed it?

Only thing on my wish list is a Double Dragon Neon deal. No idea why it has never been on sale before, especially because PSN give it away right when it came out for free. It has certainly been around long enough.

We're at the point in the 360's life span now where I pretty much have everything I want. But that one is still out there.

If the balance is from old ms points that were converted, then no you can't use existing balance from the website and only directly from the console. Note that this applies to the points that were converted only. If you applied new credit now I believe you could use that from anywhere.

Thanks for the feedback on Forza Horizon, guys.  The Colorado setting kinda' bums me out, not exactly the setting I'd want.  Ah well.

Coincidentally, I just recently got around to playing Forza Horizon after I ordered it last Black Friday. I'm not really a fan of racing games but this one has my undivided attention. I can't put my finger on what exactly, it's just DAMN FUN. It's incredibly easy to get in and get going (and restart if you want a better time) which appeals to my casual gaming needs. You earn experience just for driving around and doing things like drifting and nearly missing other cars, among other things. Little things like that keep me entertained. The driving line that it gives you that goes red when you should brake and green when you should hit the gas make me feel like I can actually succeed in a genre that usually seems too hardcore for me. And the soundtrack is exactly what I love to listen to in the music scene. This game just makes me feel good and I find myself wanting to play it over other games I should actually play like GTA5, The Last Of Us and Assassin's Creed 4.

Zer0 is fine through normal mode and True Vault Hunter, but once you hit Ultimate he becomes incredibly gear-dependent. In a support role I assume he would still be effective, but soloing UVHM with him would be awfully tough.

I got the GoD version of Horizon during the last sale (I believe it was $15) based off the praise in this thread and it's been a blast so far. Offline and online modes have a good amount of gameplay variety. I've never won an online race as I'm not the best when it comes to racing games but I love going online and racing others. I rarely come in last place either (big accomplishment huh? lol). Let me put it this way: You know in racing games there are people who actually brake when they turn and some just crash into the walls and hope it helps? I'm the latter. I don't have racing skills but I can say Horizon is a very good game.

I've never heard of that issue of the disc error or else I might've passed on the GoD version but I've been lucky so far not to have seen it. Maybe I don't have enough hours in to it yet. I'm probably between 10-15 hours combined. I just use it as my 'in-between' game when I want a break from other games.

I'd highly recommend the game itself but the season pass should be dependent on whether you're going to play it casually like I do or put heavy time into it. I'm passing simply because I don't play it enough to care about rally racing or some extra cars.

Horizon is the best 360 game I've played this year (to completion). Really want to play the Rally Expansion but honestly paying $15 for the pass is not saving much since that is all I'd use it for. I love racing games but I've never seen the point in buying DLC cars. I had a couple of the free ones with the 1000 Club and deleted them all after beating it because each one took up so much space. I never use every car so it's lost on me.

I wanted to finish Forza: Horizon so I got the season pass when it was 25% off in September. I'm so F'ing happy I did that. $22...

Forza Horizon is fun but... it was on sale at 15$ exactly 2 months ago, so i'm joining the lackluster wagon of this year's countdown. I still haven't bought anything, while a year ago at this moment i have had bought like five or six games.

And the season pass... look, you have enough cars in the main game to enjoy. The treat is the overpriced rally expansion a.k.a. the class car cut from the main game to squeeze profits. If you love rallying you can buy 1 or 2 full games with that money. All fresh tracks, cars and progression. I dont know, Dirt saga for instance.

Not really. There's actually a whole forum section on the Gearbox site that proves otherwise and can help with that. To be honest, everyone becomes relatively gear dependent in UVHM because of the dependency on slag. But I'm getting a bit OT, just go to the gearbox forums to see what builds can work for you.

Man, I just want to see the rest of the deals already. Getting yanked around like this isn't good for the mind.

Get tdu2 you would enjoy. Forza hormeh is awesome at first then you notice content is like an expansion pack...

Well I ended up passing on Terraria, hope I don't regret it. My reasoning is that I bought Minecraft (disc version) over the summer and didn't open it before trading it in last week....my backlog is just too great.

Regarding Forza, I got it last BF for $15 and had a good experience with it but ended up trading it in well before finishing it. For a causal racer I still prefer burnout.

I'd like to see a good deal on Saints Row 3 GonD. Would be very weird to see Ducktales discounted because CAPCOM is such a bitch, but it would be perfect.

I am pleased with the season pass sale. Haven't cracked open my free copy of Horizon, but now when I do I will have a plethora of cars. It'll probably be the closet to feeling like Tony Stark in a videogame ever so long as Sega makes Iron Man games.

I just bought a used retail copy of bad company 2. Expect it to be in this sale or the next gwg game lol

Oh well they better discount the DLCs, I loved it when I played it years ago but I never bought Vietnam, onslaught mode or the custom guns (spec something?)

Apparently, T10 is addressing the Horizon GoD problem as of the tenth. From the forums as posted by a T10 employee:

We have received reports from some users who have encountered an error when attempting to launch the Games on Demand version of Forza Horizon. Under specific conditions, users may see a message stating that the disc is unreadable. This occurs when a player attempts to download and play the title on additional Xbox 360 consoles.

If you see the ‘dirty disc’ error message when attempting to launch the Games on Demand version of Forza Horizon, you may attempt to address the issue with this workaround:

1) Transfer your licenses to the console. For information on license management, please refer tohttp://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/downloadable-content/download-content.

2) Re-download the Games on Demand version of Forza Horizon from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

3) Launch the title. If the problem persists, continue to step 4.

4) Delete the Games on Demand version of Forza Horizon from your Xbox 360 hard drive.

5) Re-download the Games on Demand version of Forza Horizon from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

6) Launch the title.

When following these steps correctly, players have been able to successfully launch and play Forza Horizon from Games on Demand after encountering the error stated above.

I know people who have tried this and it didn't work, but maybe they didn't delete and redownload the game.
this makes me sad, especially coming from a t10 team member. yes, i have it shared with another 360. yes, i have the disc error, but only if i try to load my save file(from the disc version). if i choose to start a brand new game, i can play the game perfectly fine.

i probably would have bought the season pass, if i could actually play the game without starting over. i bought the demand version back in july during that sale, and the problem still hasn't been fixed. if they don't want to make saves work across digital/physical that's fine, but they need to put a huge warning on the description so people don't buy it. i would have kept my disc if i knew i would be unable to play the game for months/years/decades.

I decided to bite on Terraria at the last minute. Hope it's good! Definitely waiting for Forza to be cheaper, it's been at this sale price several times. I really want it though. Hopefully the rest of the week is better! I'd love a lego sale actually if they hit $10.

That new Max and the Magic Marker game is coming to the Bone tomorrow for $15.  At least it's not $20 for you guys.

No sales are jumping out at me since a) I own most of the games, and b) I'm still downloading stuff from Cyber Monday. After Red Dead Redemption, I still need to DL L.A. Noire.   If Amy really goes on sale, I'm going to laugh so hard.

And I beat Gears of War on Hardcore last night. I'm convinced some of the enemies have X-Ray vision - particularly the last moments at the Fenix estate and that torrent level at the top of the train which is a pain in the ass (worse than my 3 attempts fighting General Raam). It sucks when I'm moving around and get shot in the neck with a Torque bow.

I bit on the UMvC and Shuma/Jill last night.  Skipped the costumes, didn't much care for most of them.  Oddly, in the Sales and Specials area, the actual game doesn't show up, only the DLC - I had to find it through normal means.  I know it's been asked before, but I have had trouble finding an answer, does the download entitle you to use of Shuma and Jill on MvC3 (which I already had) and UMvC3 (which I bought)?

Oh and I also got Castle of Illusion since my son loves Mickey Mouse and I loved the old game.  Fantastic graphics, terrible control.  Reminds me of a less precise Little Big Planet, and LBP is VERY floaty.  The sound is nice, but the narrator is annoying and just doesn't sound right.  Disappointed since the original was a very playable game to this day (although a bit simplistic).

I solo'd GoW a week ago and yeah some parts were just unfair ( the part where you first encounter Theron's in particular was a bitch). But nothing compares to trying to beat the Lambentzerker on Insane in Gears 3. I would never do that again even if you paid me, fuck that.
