Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

While again, glad you guys are happy about the F2P for Fable, but I personally am not.

I honestly hate games going F2P and to me it largely ruins the game. I really really really miss the days where I could go to the store, pay for a game and have everything that game has to offer and not be told, well hey spend even more money and you can get even more.

Just beat the first episode of revelations 2. Was pretty fun, seems like it is gonna be a great story. The Gun play did seem a little limited like the first was, just doesn't handle great but it is still fun.

I knew I should of waited on the the retail (or at least until all episodes are out) because now all I want to play is the second episode! Left it off on a cliffhanger and the preview to next episode looked great.
I don't really understand this episodic release if they stick to the "episode every week" plan. It doesn't give them any extra time to develop anything, so whats the point? I'm just waiting for the disc or at least all parts to be out.

No offence but you really should've read the link before saying something like this.

Oh I did. I wouldn't post about it if I hadn't that is just dumb hah.

History has shown us though that no matter how pure one's intentions originally, F2P models do get effed MUCH more often than they are done right. If they actually achieve what they are hoping to do with the model great, I just do not have much faith in it seeing as there are SO many F2P games and such a very select few who actually do it right.

I am hoping the F2P model works for the game.  My thought is that it has a real chance to be good because MS is looking for ways to get people to buy a Xbox One.  Having good free games is one way to do that.  They own the IP so I think they are using it as more a hook rather than a big money making opportunity. Could be wrong though and it ends up a pay to win situation so many F2P games turn into.

I hope you are right! Would make sense too. Having the W10 compatibility to just launch either version and have all the stuff loaded up does sound great and would be another reason they want this to do well and be accessible so that more games launch with that cross functionality.

I have been having issues adding 1 year of prepaid to my Xbox Live membership. Now I just got received the 1 month for the Halo MCC issues. That expires at the end of June. It will not let me add that as well. I did an online chat with Customer Support. They told me I had to wait til my current subscription ends in 10/16 since I have auto renewal off. The reason I have it off is cause I only use prepaid codes. It makes no sense to me why I cannot add to my membership as long as it is not over 3 years at once. They did give me a new code for the 1 month that never expires. But I just rather add it now vs having to wait over a year.

Seems strange but I also had difficulty adding a 1-month code last weekend. I had to try several times before it finally went through. I know it's a pain, and it doesn't make sense, at least to me, but assuming the CSR is correct, why not set your acct to auto renew, redeem the two codes, and then turn the auto renew off.

If it expires in 10/16 and you're adding a year, you should be good since you're not going beyond the 3 year window. You might need to add a CC to your account, even though you're using pre-paid codes, to allow it to go through.

The reason I have it off is cause I only use prepaid codes. It makes no sense to me why I cannot add to my membership as long as it is not over 3 years at once. They did give me a new code for the 1 month that never expires. But I just rather add it now vs having to wait over a year.
If it expires in 10/16 and you're adding a year, you should be good since you're not going beyond the 3 year window. You might need to add a CC to your account, even though you're using pre-paid codes, to allow it to go through.

The F2P model has done really well in the MOBA scene (look at how successful Dota 2, LOL, Smite have been) so I don't know what you are talking about. Since they are doing it in the same format with weekly hero rotations, they are just going ahead and copying the same formula that has worked.

I've seen Oman mentioned before on this thread. What was it - a glitch on Xbox Live or a sale where credit was being given out for free?
Sometimes a game will show up as free in another country's marketplace, accessed by changing the locale part of the URL. Some countries have a marketplace presence despite not being officially supported by Microsoft as an Xbox territory. Oman is one such country.

Back around Sept 2013, someone had found that the Oman locale had a number of free games available, Injustice and Rayman Legends among them. Many people created a new account in that region, or did a region migration on an existing account, to download the free games. Microsoft banned a lot of accounts and consoles, which included a number of CAGs. I think they also updated their TOS to explicitly state that changing one's region to exploit the marketplace was a bannable offense.

There have been times in the past when games would go free in one country, but I don't think MS banned anyone for those, which is probably why people thought they were safe. Back in 2011, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime and D&D Daggerdale were briefly free on the Taiwanese marketplace, and I never heard of anyone getting banned for those. But Taiwan is an official Xbox region, unlike Oman, and those were XBLA games, not full retail ones.

That's Microsoft. I had the same issue when trying to re-up last year. The night my Gold expired, I just waited until ran out and redeemed my code.

If you don't want to attach a credit card or PayPal to your account, there are a couple other options. One is adding a pre-paid card to your account. You might need to activate the card for online transactions first, though. Another is creating a virtual credit card that tied to a main one. Different banks may call it different things, Bank of America calls it ShopSafe, but you are issued a new number with a different expiration and CVV, and you can set a spending limit. I created one with a limit of $5 and attached that to my XBL account. No problems using a Gold code this year, and can queue up demos and GwG titles from the web. Only mistake I made was accidentally buying Dead Island Riptide through the web when it was on sale for $3.99, since the web marketplace (still) won't let you use your XBL credit on 360 purchases. So now I have $1.01 of available on that number, which I can raise if I want to.

Is anybody else thinking of pre-ordering the retail version of RE: Revelations 2 from Microsoftstore.com?  Supposedly, Xbox Live Rewards members will get back 15,000 rewards credits (which equates to $15 in MS funny money).  So, assuming that you're definitely going to spend $15 on the marketplace, it's kind of like getting the game with free release date shipping for $25.

I was also thinking of using a $5 or $10 Microsoft Store gift card from Bing Rewards, but I'm not sure if it would combine with the Xbox Live Rewards offer then.  I thought that maybe I could even use multiple gift cards to whittle the price down (like you can do on Amazon), but the fine print at Bing Rewards seems to state that you can only use one per purchase.

The odd thing is I have Paypal connected to my account. But the rep from what i gathered was claiming that since I had auto-renew turned off when I entered the last 1 year code I cannot turn on that option til that year expires. Which seems odd. I have a $10 pre-paid Visa rebate rewards card that I can always add if I need to.

Shit, sounds like a great deal. It says you get a $10 XBL code for pre-ordering on the store too. I'm definitely going this route since it works on 360 too.

Yeah, I'd be getting the 360 version too. I'm seriously considering it, since otherwise, I'd probably just be waiting for it to drop to $20-$25 on Amazon. It would probably be a better idea to just get it this way, since I'll probably actually play the game pretty soon after buying it, as opposed to 95% of the games that I buy which end up in never-ending backlog limbo.

My only concern is that I hope there's no issue with getting the rewards credits, since Xbox Live Rewards can be a little wonky sometimes when it comes to giving you credits that you rightfully earned. Like I said, I'd also like to use a gift card from Bing Rewards but I'm not sure if that would affect the eligibility of the offer.

Beyond that, I'm still pretty pissed at Capcom for not bringing Alyson Court back as the voice of Claire, but that's another story. :nottalking:

I pre-ordered DoA two weeks ago and I got my 15,000 credits added yesterday. Just check the fine print. I don't remember exactly, but the game has to ship by a certain date or the offer is invalid.

Well, yeah, I know how to read the fine print. I'm just concerned that I won't get my credits even though I'm supposed to because Xbox Live Rewards is like that sometimes. For instance, sometimes I get my 1,000 credits for playing the GwG title for more than 10 hours and sometimes I don't. In January, I wasn't even able to get my 250 credits for completing that month's survey. No matter how many times I did it, the survey never showed as having been completed.

Like I said, I just do not have faith in them honestly that it will be as seamless as in the mainstream MOBAs. I am rooting for this game though and I want it to be great so I of course hope it works out I just do not have faith in them unfortunately and so I will not really be excited until I see explicitly how it all works out in the game specifically.

fucking awesome lineup for GWG in March. Bought Infinite on sale a while back, but I actually have never gotten around to Tomb Raider or Rayman Legends and I definitely want to play both.

Good news about Fable Legends.  One thing that concerned me was this line "You’ll also be able to buy gold with real-world money, which can then be used to purchase many of the items that are also available for Silver"

I would prefer that the only things that can be purchased with real money are appearance based items and characters and not weapons/armor or other things than can give someone an advantage in game. Hopefully i'm wrong though, and it isnt anything that really affects gameplay.

I really loved Revelations 1 so I'm fine with paying $40 for 2. I might have waited at $60 but even then there aren't that many games coming for the next few months I want. Pretty much this and Splatoon.

I was looking at just buying the season pass but it doesn't give the Raid maps, Wesker, or costumes and it costs more than the disc to buy them separate. Doesn't say anything about the two side chapters that focus on other characters either. I'm upset about Court being gone but I've expected it for years. At least mai waifu's face didn't get too messed up, or become presumed dead for years. Nothing like the rough patch Jill went through.

This is the best month for GwG ever. I already have Bioshock, but am super excited to see them putting good games for free on the 360 still.
Yeah I think this is the best overall month between 360/One. Although they've had good games come out whether I owned them or not come to 360. Rayman Legends combined with Tomb Raider/Bioshock Infinite for the month is pretty good. Shame I already own Bioshock Infinite (haven't played it yet) and already played Tomb Raider but still wonderful games. It makes me hesistate now to buy any games on sale for 360 because of it possibly being free. That and my backlog is a mile long.

You are leaving out an important fact.

The Oman region marketplace never existed. There was a glitch you could to in order to see games on the marketplace, which involved you searching the game up on an account in a different region, then selecting the game with the Oman account. Otherwise there is no way to get to the game because the XBL marketplace was never active in that country.

Traditionally, doing that glitch would just make every game come up as 99999999999 microsoft points. Which is waaaay more than any sane person would spend. When Microsoft switched to real world currency. 99999999999 microsoft points was accidently converted to "FREE".

TL:DR
Microsoft has *NEVER* banned someone for downloading something for free off another region marketplace. They only banned people for the oman incident, because it required a *VERY* specific glitch in order to even access a marketplace that didn't even exist in the first place.

Yeah, I'm really excited to see what April has in store. 6 free games sounds good to me, and if this month is any indication I'm hoping we'll be getting some more quality titles.

That is what got me too. Red flags always go up when things go f2p, but that line made me worry more. Hopefully it all works out though!

yeah april has me excited for sure, rayman legends opens the floodgates to potentially see games that finally arent shit indie titles
I'm just surprised rayman is the first retail game. I figured it would have been dead rising or ryse. Hoping DR is the next one since I have yet to finish it.

They reissued DR and Ryse in the "complete" packs though in the past 6 months or so. So they aren't going to be GwG for a long time.

Yeah : /

I really wish they would though. Got them both on release but never beat either fully and have since sold them both assuming I could get them for dirt cheap later. Unfortunately after Titanfall's release I have decided to go completely digital and so I am pretty much at the mercy of MS as to when I will get a chance to beat them finally haha

I don't mind waiting another year for DR3, as long as it's free one day. I'm not even half way finished and I have the season pass downloaded that I got for free due to BB BF and AMZ TIV.

Yeah, it seems like a no-brainer to go physical over digital on this.

To me, changing Claire's voice is worse than anything they've ever done to Jill. The being presumed dead thing didn't even bother me since it was resolved in the same game in which it was introduced. And any change to her face or voice was never a big deal to me, since she (like almost all RE characters) has been ever changing since the series began. Claire has been the only constant, and it just won't feel like the same character without Alyson Court voicing her. I probably should have expected this from Capcom, but I really never did because Court seemed to have such a good relationship with them for so long (well over a decade).

Honestly, I think that's the only reason I doubted my decision to get the game at release for full price. Even without Alyson Court, the return of both Claire and Barry in the same game is hard to resist. But if it was the real Claire, with her normal voice, I probably wouldn't have thought twice. I guess it's the long-awaited return of Barry that's pushing me over the edge. I know a lot of people don't like his new design, but I personally love it. Other than his eyes looking too Asian, it's much closer to his original design than REmake Barry was. That's the one I always hated. They practically stripped him of his beard, which was his defining physical characteristic.
