  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Kind of a weird and lackluster sale this week. Was hoping for something better given the recent talk of MS worrying about low 360 sales figures, and the fact that we've had some pretty decent sales lately (besides this past week, which was still alright if you didn't have Borderlands or wanted to go digital). Ah well. One more week to push through Fallout 3 and maybe start up Far Cry

Valiant Hearts is tempting, but nearly all my XBLA purchases can wait for the 60% off or more pricing since backlog is taking shape and want to finish more on 360 before fully committing to new consoles.

Not to be an ass, but I think you're doing something wrong. The game isn't really that difficult...at all. I've beaten 2033 three times and never used the currency bullets, just used them for purchases. The enemies don't have too much health and humans die from a single headshot. The only "difficult" part is making sure you purchase enough filters for the last half of the game, if you like to take your time and explore like I do.
I'm fully aware of how to play it, but maybe I'm just not far into it yet. I also don't find the game hard as much as I have tedious. It just seems like since I went the action route there would be more ammo lying around and I might as well have just gone the original survival route.

Yeap no X1 deals yet unless It's from EA acess and/or games I already own as I'm not seeing any prices. Guessing those will go live a bit later. It's still showing Worms and Watch Dogs on sale.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. I haven't used "money" bullets AT ALL so far after 2 playthroughs of Metro 2033 Redux and 1 playthrough of Last Light Redux.
Actually I went a different route I beat the game buying nothing but filters and rarely even noticed what bullets I was using. The game is flawed but has an interesting story.

Monkey Island is finally on sale yes!! Now if Telltale's earlier works ever get a sale I'll be happy.

Metro 2033 for five bucks is a goodass deal. If you like that special eastern-European kind of depressing, check it out.

i wouldn't touch either metro for this gen, except on pc. they are fun games but the graphics are so muddy and bland on ps3/360. get the redux versions, even if you have to wait a few years.

I have $9.25 in my account. I'm pretty sure that's what I had a couple weeks ago when I bought Shadow Complex WTF IS THIS SORCERY

So now I can actually haz both Monkey Island games with money left over. Score!

That disney universe Peter Pan dlc is so random, and why only that one. Im still getting it, just wish they wouldve put nightmare before christmas on sale to.

Thought on both Monkey Island games ? At 2.49 and the fact that it is the lowest it has been, i'm tempted to blind buy them, but still...

Pretty much a perfect blend of crazy humor, whacky situations and tons of puzzles. They're worth even if you have no nostalgia strings attached and, while I didn't fancy the new graphic style, it quickly grew on me. If you like point-and-click adventures, or games in general, you cannot miss 'em :)

Graphics are not going to make a game more fun. Everyone enjoyed them back before X1/PS4 came out but now since they added fancier graphics the 360 version is not good... I'm sure this will be said as well whenever Sleeping Dogs get rereleased on the X1/PS4. Why pay $40 when you can pay less than $20 for them right now.

Valiant Hearts is actually the only XBLA title left that I want and haven't picked up, so this is great. I am picking up the Pacman game for the hell of it.

Never thought I'd see the Monkey Island games on sale again. Great titles for those who don't have them.

I think I'm going to pick up both metro games.  Lego pirates could go cheaper so I'm going to hold off on that.  And I've played the monkey island series at least twice on my computer as a kid. I'm going to be out of microsoft space bucks!  Another sale for those needs to happen.

Major Nelson posted.  According to him, Valiant Hearts is also supposed to be on sale on the XB1, though only at a 33% discount vs. 50% on 360, and the web site hasn't updated the price yet (so maybe Major will remove it from his post).  BF4 Engineer Shortcut Kit on sale for both systems, XBLDB picked up the 360 drop last night.  Also the Killer Instinct Retro Costume Pack on XB1.

I'm sure this will be said as well whenever Sleeping Dogs get rereleased on the X1/PS4. Why pay $40 when you can pay less than $20 for them right now.
the redux version contains all the dlc, adjusted gameplay for the first metro, higher resolutions, better fps, updated graphics so it the game isn't so intentionally muddy and bland due to the limitations of the hardware. I got metro 2033 LL on pc and on ps3 through ps+. the difference in quality is worth waiting. if you want to buy it now do so. sleeping dogs is a totally different game. but do you want. it's called an opinion. durrr

Last night's date had a few tricks up her sleeve. Things I haven't seen since like 2011(Monkey Island) and new stuff that's less than 3 months old(Valiant Hearts). Glad I had the cash to enjoy myself

Dunno when I'll get around to them as I'm playing "scarier" games leading up to Halloween. i.e. Dead Space 2, ZombiU, Dead Island, Costume Quest, etc. Yeah, Costume Quest ain't scary, but it's one of those games that I gotta play every time during Halloween/Fall. Such a great game. Need to play that before Costume Quest 2 comes out October 7th

Huh. No non-gold sales. They're out to get me!

I'll bite on Monkey Island but will wait on Valiant Hearts. That and Child of Light will be on sale again probably, maybe for a good discount for this winter.

I keep waiting for a sale on Costume Quest because I really like the demo for it. I figured they'd have it on sale around Halloween last year, but was disappointed.

Have you started Dead Island yet? Be mindful of hackers online; they can ruin your save files.

Wait until CQ2 is released. Who knows they may offer a discount if you buy CQ2.
For Steam, I know that you can get the Costume Quest bundle for $19.99. This includes Costume Quest 2, a pre-order dlc bundle that includes four costumes, Costume Quest 1 and the CS1 dlc add-on Grubbins on Ice. Not bad considering CS2 will be $14.99. I am VERY tempted to get the bundle on Steam though I have the 360 version.

Thanks for the heads up. I plan on playing solo or with a coworker online. I recall people mentioning something about settings in that game, where you can ensure no strangers can join your game? Like Dark Souls I think?

Good idea. Hopefully they'll do it for hype for the sequel. Hopefully...

Under the settings you can set it to friends only. To be fair, I have played with many randoms online, and only once did I encounter a hacker. I immediately got out of the match, and had no issues with my saves. I played through a bit of it solo, and it's a lot more fun in cooperative. You can even go after different side quests while playing together, which is pretty nice if you're looking to maximize your time.

Also, and this is kind of important - the early part of the game make you almost entirely dependent on melee weapons. It's weird, and might deter you from continuing with the game, since it would be like playing Half-Life with only the crowbar. Near the end of the first half you'll begin to get firearms, and that's where the game gets better. If you find the game to be off, the black woman, Puma, can generate a revolver for short use when her rage meter is high enough (you hold B to activate it - the game doesn't explain this well). She's the only character that can do this, so it's a good idea to have you or your friend play as her to blast away the bigger, mini-boss zombies that can be almost resistant to melee weapons.

So was it never this way or did it change? I'm trying to download Halo Reach from the website and it's telling me to input a payment option.

You need a payment method to purchase anything off the xbox.com web site, even free stuff.

You don't need a payment option to purchase free stuff, and you can use money in your account when using an xbox 360 console.

Well that's rather awful when there shouldn't be any differences besides the box it's on. And yet I'll still probably buy it on Xbone because I'm far more likely to play it there.

valiant hearts still showing full price on the xbox any place to let them kno other than major nelson cause he never responds to anything that guy

I'd expect a sale on CQ soon. Honestly, though, it's one of the best experiences I had on the 360 and I love the game for a bunch of reasons. It's just charming and fun and simple. I've said before that it's the last great JRPG style turn-based combat system that I've played (for real).

I am freaked out excited for Costume Quest 2. I'm loving Destiny right now and I'm a big Dragon Age fan, but CQ2 is my most anticipated game. Steam says it's coming October 7th, but no confirmation anywhere else. There is also a graphic novel coming out next month that looks fun, too.

Thanks dude. Will keep this in mind when I play this/next month.

I too am SUPER hyped for CQ2. Definite Day One for me. As I said before, need to decide what platform I'm going to get it on. Also, every press release I've seen that says it's coming to Steam Oct. 7, also says it'll arrive on consoles in time for Halloween. So you are correct, Oct 7th on consoles is a guess date. Latest it could come out I imagine would be Oct 28th then(last Thursday of October). Thanks for the clarification for Costume Quests 2's release window for consoles

Costume Quest was fun with the dlc. that was a good sale with Stacking and it's dlc too. I wish they had more complete sales like that. You know what else hasn't been on same since 2011, the Mass Effect dlc. Maybe that will be on sale next week.

I wanna get another game

eternal sonata or tales of vesperia?
Vesperia is definitely the better of the two if you're only getting one, but I'd recommend either game. Vesperia is way more balanced and I found myself more involved in the story and characters and the combat system should be pretty familiar and involving for fans of action games and other Tales games.

Eternal's fighting system is more interesting as far as I remember since its constantly changing and evolving (its turn-based, but you control the characters for a limited amount of time each turn) , but the story would be pretty forgettable if it wasn't for the Chopin involvement, and I found myself not giving a fuck what the characters had to say at times in the long ass annoying unskippable cutscenes. I really enjoyed seeing what restrictions the game would put on the combat system as the game went on.

Can anyone tell me if Microsoft is still offering Minecraft for 5$ for people who have played it online? A friend of mine was going to let me borrow his disc, but I won't bother if it's dead.

And PSN does NOT have Valiant Hearts and Pac Man on sale so Xbox gets my money. Two games for under $15 plus free Hulu Plus (have another month or so left) just for being Gold this week. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Wait wait wait. What do you mean multiplayer hackers? This is the first time I am hearing about this.

Seems like no matter what I try, I can't shut off multiplayer. It doesn't happen often, but I'll have random people join me in a game. I just leave the session and I can continue. It would be more enjoyable playing with others if everyone stayed together instead of trying to get to the same point on the map thru a different path which causes some graphics glitches.

I know what you mean. The reverse happened to me when they had LocoCycle on 360 for $10 but on sale for $5 on Xbox One only.

What is the difference between Metro 2033, Metro Last Light, Metro 2033 Redux, and Metro Last Light Redux? Is it like GOTY with added DLC? I have Last Night from PS+ but am I better off getting the Xbox versions now instead of waiting for Sony to discount the other game(s)?

First two are original and sequel then graphical updates. Think there's some gameplay stuff too.

Metro 2033 was rebuilt with a new engine on XB1/PS4 so it is much better. They also added all the dlc for both games to Redux.

Metro 2033 is not available on PS3 so buy it now if you want it. Beat it on 360 then go on PS3 and beat Last Light.

Forza Horizon 2 demo on X1, so good. I think it was 10 GB, so if you're at work, just get it through Smartglass and your xbox should download it.

here's some clips I saw:
