Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Got D4 from last week's deals and so far nothing jumps out at me for this week's deals.

Hoping they have a great bunch of stuff I want in the coming weeks :D

For external HDD does it have to have separate power supply or can it with Xbox one power(USB)
It doesn't have to, I'm using one powered off the USB right now, but it should be a little better. Mainly it's that a lot of unpowered drives have a lot of power saving stuff that doesn't always play nice.

What this guy said. During the preview, the USB-powered drives were kind of a "buy at your own risk".

Plus, as far as I'm aware, the biggest USB-powered drive is only 2TB. I ended up going for an external powered 4TB drive, with a 7200rpm drive inside. I get anywhere from 2 seconds to 15 seconds of faster load times out of it.

Yeah I think they currently top out at 2TB because of the size/power consumption of the drive. You also won't find one that's 7200RPM.

Yeah, I'm only buying discs for Xbox One games that are available in stores, and I'll only download the digital stuff from here on out.  At the moment, I have Chariot, Crimson Dragon, Super Time Force, D4 and Pinball FX 2 on the system.  The next digital release I'm waiting for is Cuphead, and no one seems to know when or if that game is coming out in 2014.  And, I haven't quite filled the 250 gb hard drive inside my 360, but I'm sure it will happen sooner or later.  Does anyone know if you can swap out the internal hard drives on a 360, or does Xbox Live recognize which hard drive you're using and limit you to one?  I have the old slim, not the new slim, so I'm assuming that it only uses a specific type of hard drive.  I saw a 320 gb hard drive at Walmart that included Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Ms. 'Splosion Man, but I don't know if that one can be used on my slim.

Isn't that just the first episode on Xbox? Went free earlier today on PSN. Still worth grabbing so you don't have to buy it separately when the season pass goes on sale again.
Yeah, I noted it in my post in the freebies thread, and updated the post in this thread, lest anything thinks they're getting the whole thing for free.

I'm pretty sure there are some here that bought the season pass the last time it was on sale and holding out hope that the first episode would go free like season 1.
I'm one of those. Actually I bought it when it was on sale a long time ago, not even the most recent time it was on sale. I'm glad they finally made the first episode free.

Sad. I can't view this topic on mobile safari because of "too many redirects." Just this topic. No idea if it's date/time related. Tried that and clearing cache :(
You guys having redirect issues should just download Tapatalk, I think it's a better mobile forum experience anyway.
Hey folks, it's not necessarily Safari's problem, since IP.Board shouldn't be redirecting so much because it wants to reflect the URL as closely to the subject as possible. By removing "piñata" from the subject, then IP.Board wouldn't redirect from a UTF-8 to Unicode URL unnecessarily. Therefore, a simple subject change by Bloomy will fix it! :)

There are no new or old slim models, there's just the phat ones (anything from launch to the appearance of slims a couple years ago) in multiple colours, manufacturing series and all but essentially being the same, and the slims. All "old" HDDs work with the old phat X360's, however the new slim HDDs will not work on them - the largest official HDD is 250Gb for the old X360, anything beyond that is for the slim. You can use a transfer cable to get the data from an old HDD to a new X360 slim but it can't be used for actually playing or loading games: it's only for transfering. Licenses are stored on the HDD, so the moment you remove a hard drive from the console and insert another one, it's as if you have a new console. You have to download all the updates again, download your profile again, and in order to have full access to all your content you should do a license transfer - which is something you can do every 4 months if I'm not mistaken. If you want to switch between multiple HDDs, license transfering is obviously not very useful, but nothing really stops you from having 5 different 250 Gb HDDs that you switch whenever you like, as long as you remember that most stuff is stored on the HDDs so you'll likely have to redownload a couple things from time to time (and install the same updates many times as well). Anyhow, logging in to your profile grants you rights to your games library that is linked to your profile, no matter what console or HDD you're on - however, most games will stop working if you log off unless you're on the console/HDD that actively has your licenses. If you're always on the Internet this should cause you no trouble. Only on your "main" HDD (the one with the licenses) you can play fully offline with your digital games. Also, stuff that comes pre-installed on HDDs (like Hexic on the brand new consoles or NFS and Ms Splosion Man on the new HDD) is not linked to a profile, and therefore I believe it only works on said hard drive: transferring that content to another console or HDD would not get you any result as you'd need the license on the original HDD to play it, which can't be transferred since it's not tied to a profile.

Welp I hate Halo and are regretting this purchase still.  I guess I was expecting a bit more than a Halo 2 remake that happened to come with some other old games.  Probably going to try and beat the campaigns and then get rid of it.

Thanks for explaining all this, and I appreciate how much time you put into it. The specific 250 gb that I bought apparently can only be bought new from Amazon or refurbished used from Gamestop, so I'm hoping that I won't need another one soon. I've got quite a while before I would need to get a new one, but I always wonder what will happen if the 360 Xbox Live storefront ends up going away like the original Xbox Live storefront did. I just want to make sure that I can get everything that I want to own that's only available digitally, but these cheap game sales on titles like the Burnouts, Need for Speeds and Fallouts aren't really helping me to reserve space. As long as I get all the shmups, Saturn and Dreamcast titles that I want before the 360 storefront goes kaput, I suppose I'll be OK.

Subject's updated. I thought the problems people were having had to do with the site's change to https last week.

Looks like Titanfall is back to regular price on the XB1. Can someone check that the pass went back to regular price as well? I don't have an XB1 one, but I still bought the pass when it was on sale (though at the $8.25 price rather than $6.25), so I can't see the price on the web site.

I'm actually impressed by it so far. I was expecting all of XBL to be shutdown so we wouldn't be able to even co-op. Matchmaking issues on launch day isn't a deal breaker for me.

I have the same issue. Don't know the cause, but I found a workaround:

1. Push and hold on the topic link in the board list, and select "copy"

2. Open the notes app, and paste the copied link.

3. Remove the end of the link, specifically this part: ?view=getnewpostgetnewpost

4. Copy the newly edited link

5. Paste the link into Safari, and go it. Should now open.
Thank you! That's definitely a work around alright. Chrome seems to work fine. Testing if it'll remember my log in since it's not doing that either. Last time I update iOS on a whim. Ran perfect before.

Anyways, will this be the year the dedicated xbl holiday sales kick the bucket? I don't think so since they're still selling and pushing the 360 bundles and wanting to give people stuff to buy. Also I highly doubt there'll be enough xb1 stuff to just put on sale on its own.

Testing if issue is resolved. It still redirects to original link when a post is made, so opening the saved link after posting is required. Annoying, but works.

EDIT:
Looks like it's working/fixed now...

I'm one of those. Actually I bought it when it was on sale a long time ago, not even the most recent time it was on sale. I'm glad they finally made the first episode free.
count me as "one of those" as well. had the season pass for prolly 4 or 5 months waiting for this to be half off or better. can't complain about free. i just hope they've cleaned up the engine and gotten rid of all the stuttering/juttering, frame drops, and whatever else season 1 had issues with.

It's fairly cleaned up. There's a lot less stutter and frame rate drops this time, most likely because all that moved to The Wolf Among Us. The only thing TWD 2 did for me was managed to freeze up the game a few times, where I had to go back out dashboard before I could play again.

hey fellas apologize if this has been answered but fuck it YOLO

Ok so I got the email from XBL Rewards asking me to pre-order Dragon Age for the 15,000 points back bonus. However on MS' site I dont see the option to use the $24 I have in MS credit to apply towards my purchase. How can I do this? Do I have to call them and have it done manually?

If buying from MS store, you can't use your MS credit unfortunately. Has to be Paypal, credit card, or whatever other payments but not MS credit from your account.

Honestly I don't know what I'll do if the store goes boom. Finding HDDs for a phat X360 nowadays ain't easy, obviously eBay, Amazon and such have it but they aren't manufactured from a few years so the chances are getting lower. I kept seeing the 250GB ones around 80 Euros here in Italy, so no wonder that when I've seen a 250GB Limited Edition X360 with Final Fantasy XIII and 2 controllers for 99 Euros, I preferred buying a new console altogether, given that mine is 5 years old, I need more HDD and 2 more controllers are very welcome too to make sure I don't have to buy those in a while too (also I didn't have Final Fantasy XIII yet). I have 2 250GB drives and I lent my old 120GB to a friend, but even when I get it back I'll have 620GB (make that 600 since the system files steal a couple GBs on each HDD) available. My total game collection is around 400 games right now, many of them being On Demand games, plus tons of DLC around (the ones for the Battlefield games take up A LOT for example). Not even this is enough, in fact I have like 80 or so big games I don't currently have installed and also tons of DLC currently not on my consoles. If MS pulls the plug on downloading, that sucks, however I want to be optimistic and believe that maybe they'll keep the option to download your stuff long after they stop letting you use other online services. Let's keep in mind how the Wii online features have been nuked, but you can still buy and download the games on it, so hopefully this will be the case with the X360 as well for many years to come: if not else, for Gold members at least. Otherwise I'll have real big trouble in trying to find enough room for all my stuff, unless ultra-cheap X360s start popping up and I actually will have many consoles (at this point it's practically cheaper to buy the console).

You can stick a slim HDD in a fat drive holder/case(you have to take the hard drive out of the slim case first) or do a firmware mod on select retail hard drives to make them work with the 360.

I am really loving the Master Chief Collection. So far I have only played the Halo 2 remaster, and multiplayer, I can't believe how gorgeous the game is, literally some of the scenery is breath taking. Usually I don't really care that much about graphics, but these graphics are simply amazing.

I can't believe that 343 was able to remaster all four games, include all the multiplayer DLC and price it for only $60. I think it is safe to say that my backlog for the next few months is going to be screwed, because I will be spending all my time playing Halo.

Outstanding job 343  :applause:

Haha months, more like year....at least....:p

They only remastered Halo 2. The other games they just set to 1080p and made compatible with the Xbone.
Still it's an impressive deal considering it all runs through the same hub so you can play anything from any major Halo (even from the DLCs and the PC versions) without even quitting the game. Considering the kind of "upgrades" they give us nowadays for full price (Dead Or Alive 5, Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, GTA 5, etc.), this kind of value for a remake is really amazing. They could have just given us Halo 2 Anniversary for full price and call it a day and it would still have sold a lot.

It's still a good deal if you like Halo and want to be able to play it on le 'Bone.

I just don't remember Halo being so slow, damn COD
Yeah, I keep throwing grenades trying to use iron sights. In the way that Wolfenstein was fun for that sort of throwback shoot all the bullets kind of action the campaign has been fun so far. When you get off the ship though it's holy old game game Batman. I'm against how much hand holding there is in games today but it still conditions you so effectively that when you go back to stuff like the original Halo it's a bit of a shock.

If it was only the multiplayer for all the games, I'd still buy it at full price. fuck it I'd pay $60 for just Halo 2 multiplayer alone. I don't remember any bad H2 maps. I think they were all either great or meh.

I'm a bit worried about how slow it will feel now thanks to Titanfall's non-stop, gotta go fast sanic, leave the tent at home, fast style combat. Call of Duty and Battlefield feel really slow and if Halo feels slower than that, like a few people mentioned before this post, then I might be on the struggle for awhile.

I really enjoy the speed of recent FPS games, Titanfall and the new COD among others. I've grown up on the original Doom and Quake games, Heretic, Duke Nukem 3D, later on with Unreal and spent a lifetime on the Unreal Tournament series... seeing that kind of acrobatic and speedy gameplay finally "catch up" with console FPSs is awesome for me, but it also means that I'll probably kinda hate Halo 2 at first because it'll feel like a snail game. I last played it like 7-8 years ago and I really liked it, but it'll feel so weird...

While I appreciate the amount of time that Baboy took to write that response, some of the info in it strikes me as incorrect or incomplete. I'll try to address each point.

There are no new or old slim models, there's just the phat ones (anything from launch to the appearance of slims a couple years ago) in multiple colours, manufacturing series and all but essentially being the same, and the slims.
This isn't exactly true, there are two different slim Xbox models, the S and the E. However, they use exactly the same hard drives, so from the perspective of the hard drive it doesn't matter.

All "old" HDDs work with the old phat X360's, however the new slim HDDs will not work on them - the largest official HDD is 250Gb for the old X360, anything beyond that is for the slim.
It's true that the hard drive cases for the fat and slim models are different. However, there's nothing different about the hard drives inside them, and it's pretty trivial to pop open a slim hard drive case and transplant the hard drive into a fat case. So if you want to use the new 500GB HD on a fat Xbox, it will work just fine if you move it to the old enclosure.

I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. The licenses are tied to your Xbox console hardware, not the hard drive. The only reason you should need a license transfer is if you replace the console itself, not the HD.

The bottom line is that's is fairly easy to use a 500GB hard drive on a fat Xbox if you want to. You have three options:

1. Purchase the official 500GB slim drive from Microsoft and move it into your fat HD case ("official" but expensive).

2. Purchase a Western Digital 500GB drive then hack it yourself and put it in your fat HD case.

3. Purchase an already hacked 500GB drive from a third-party seller on Amazon/Ebay (probably won't support original Xbox game emulation).

As I explain in my post above, it's relatively easy to put a brand-new 500GB drive on a fat Xbox 360.

I know these things can be done but I never experienced them myself, so in my explanation I preferred to skip the "unofficial" ways.

EDIT: As for the final part of your other post regarding license transfer, I personally had to do it when I switched to a brand new HDD a while ago, so I believe it's HDD-related. Might be wrong but I definitely did it because I had stuff not working well prior to that on the new HDD.
