  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Heads up: only the demo of After Burner Climax is still on XBL, and it appears that it was already pulled from PSN in advance of the 24th because it's not showing up there now.

Except that it's not only Ubisoft, MS put out a broken MCC, DA:I was patched by EA, albeit the game was playable and the patches mostly occurred under the radar. I agree Ubisoft has been one of the biggest culprits so far this generation but I worry that this is the new norm - release Alpha or Beta grade products and patch after release. I guess I'm probably just dating myself but this makes me want to retire my gaming hat. Maybe I'll just leave my BF XB1 sealed in the box, and finish off my 360 backlog until the publishers start to behave themselves.
I'm in the same boat, 100%. At first, I loved the concept of patching console games, because it allowed developers an opportunity to solve problems that somehow got through QA, or to add features. Now they're using it as a crutch to release unfinished games and essentially have gamers pay to bug test for them.

Yep, that's one of the factors that almost killed off PC gaming many years ago. Customer would buy a game off the shelf and couldn't get it to work out of the box so would get frustrated and switched to console gaming.

But my biggest concern is not having the bandwidth to download these patches, I'm using the fastest internet available in my area and I get about 1GB per hour max assuming I'm not downloading anything else on my PC or 360. And even buying disc games isn't a solution as they need to be patched out of the box to be able to work. No one wants to buy a game and then have to wait several days before they can actually play it.

I really want to do the EA access pass but I don't think I have the bandwidth to be able to do it.

Kind of sort of related as it's in this sale, although I didn't get it there. Just a couple of hours into the Evil Within and pleasantly surprised it really feels like a survival horror game, it even brings back memories of some early ones. Strangely the opening chapter made me think of Clocktower (the original game). Didn't look like it, but it reminded me of the game play. Run like a  fuck and hide.

My 12 year old nephew did this. For Christmas my Sister in law bought him the AW Xbox One bundle. Went to midnight release to pick it up and he was overly excited. He even talked her into staying up all night and playing (he's home schooled and promised to do school on Saturday instead)

Of course she didn't realize he had to download the game. So they get home and in the boondocks of West Virginia they have crappy internet. He set his alarm every hour to check on the download progress. Took him about 30 hours to download the game. He was so disappointed. Although the only redeeming quality of this was current gens download the game in segments so after about 6-8 hours he could start the campaign while all of his friends were on MP.

Taken from the PSN thread:

Really craptacular. I was going to buy it before it got delisted but was going to wait until closer in case we got a last minute sale. Guess not.

I honestly didn't find Outlast that scary. I think people are overhyping that aspect of the game. I beat the game and DLC back when it launched on PS4 and while I thought it was a decent game the scares really start to go away after about 20 minutes when you pretty much can guess what to expect from the rest of the game.

Plus, it gets incredibly repetitive (one of the biggest complaints people had). However, That free PT teaser demo that Hideo Kojima put out scared the living crap out of me and it's just a teaser for a game. PT is more psychological horror while outlast is like 'oh no guy chasing you' or 'oh no something popped out!'.
I couldn't agree more. I played through Outlast and PT around the same time. Started Outlast first, and thought it was pretty scary. Played PT, almost shit my pants. Went back to Outlast, and it was nothing. I did like Outlast though, definitely worth the playthrough. Still a great game, but man I can't wait for Silent Hills!

Halo CE playlist is up.
Played like 20+ matches. The only thing it's lacking now is dedicated servers, the host advantage destroys me and forces me to rage quit when nothing registers. At least the game is finally working on a consistent basis now.

So the next Telltale episodic adventure game collaboration is... Minecraft. For serious.

Not to derail the thread, but it's been mentioned in the Kroger 12 Days of Gift Cards thread that people can add a digital coupon to their Kroger grocery store cards to use today only, 12/18, to purchase a 3 multi-pack of $10 Xbox Live cards which is regularly $30 to get it for $25 today only. Good if people need extra credit for these Live sales.
Bitchin, I'm heading in there now anyway. Gonna need some more monies before all is said and done with these sales.

I started telling people to disconnect their Xbones when installing games, or to have their kids do it. Since some (or all?) games download the whole thing without actually installing from the disc. At least you can play campaign or whatever after a bit instead of waiting for a 50 gig download.

Is this for real? What a stupid design decision, why wouldn't the Xbox take the data off the disc that is right there instead of hours and hours of DL, DL limits, etc. Can anyone else confirm that this is true?

It might depend on the game. I don't have an Xbone so can't confirm. But my co-worker took 3 or so days to "install" Halo because it downloaded the 45 gigs that's supposed to be on the disc AND the 20 gig patch.

Ah yea, but H:MCC had a known day one update, so it's hard to say. That just sounds like such a stupid idea.... then again we are talking about MS here so I guess I wouldn't put it past them. I just can't see the benefit to doing it that way?

No, it installs off the disc. The problem some people have is that it downloads the patch before installing from the disc. So if it's a 12 GB patch and you have crappy internet, the install % will take forever because it's downloading the patch first.

The workaround to that is that you can go into network settings and press "go offline". Install the disc first, and then go back online and download the patch. It's rumored to be faster that way but I don't know, I just install the normal way.

The 12/16 XB1 deals have expired, but the 360 deals are still live.  All 12/17 deals are still live.

XBLDB hasn't picked up any new deals yet, guess MS decided to stop posting the 360 deals by 10:30 am Eastern.

This way would at least allow you to start playing the campaign and what not while the patch downloads, right?

Any opinions on the State of Decay DLC?. I have the game but haven't got very far into it but I really like it so far.
My wife and I are big fans of State of Decay. The DLC is more of the same from the base game, a few tweaks to the formula but nothing earth-shattering, which suits us just fine.

Telltale throws these Flash games together in no time and sells them for $30/pop. Seems like a good business model for them. Still have no interest in them til they make some interesting game mechanic.

I wouldn't quite go that far. I am however worried about Telltale skimping on quality because of their current load and also becoming an eye-roll to the gamers.

I mean I enjoyed all their modern offerings and was skeptical of but will dive into their Borderlands and GoT series as well, but I don't want them to not improve and just play safe.

All in all Minecraft means nothing to me but that's ok.

For those of you in the xbox one preview program...I just read the latest update and it says we get early access to the halo 5 beta starting tomorrow.

Shouldn't all of us who have put up with the MCC's bullshit since day one get first crack at that beta?

Gatling Gears,eh?  Not bad. Shoot some enemies, collect the gears, level up. I'd say it's worth the $5 and is the best daily deal so far.

I see this as a good sign of better sales starting tomorrow.
