I think it is safe to assume that Witcher 2 is free because they know how terrible the January list is. Soften the blow a bit.

And I like this new "release them when they are ready" approach versus the monthly thing.

Good to know they are listening to the people... all 277 of them.

yeah, Space Giraffe was hotly anticipated back in the day but many people hated it, although it did have a dedicated fanbase.

Aegis Wing is a naturally free game since it's release many years ago.

As pointed out before By EldritchOnRye for Witcher 2, it's not a mistake, Major Nelson states at the bottom of his BC update:

IIRC Aegis Wing was always free. It was an indie game created in-house by some MS interns.

 
What external drives do you guys recommend for the Xbone? I thought I could survive on 500GB but it's been two years and I can't download anything without having to delete three other things now.

I think they have realized that their BC big announcements are probably going to backfire most of the time unless they get extremely popular blockbuster games on the list every month. They probably figure they may as well not create a monthly build-up and then have a bunch of let down with lesser known titles. If they release them sporadically, they probably don't lose anything and will still get good PR when a big name game does show up.

Wow, I did not know that Rocket League was even coming to Bone. Thought it was pretty locked down on :ps4:. I keep hearing about how fun it is though.

With m$'s track record for power supplies, I'd avoid usb powered devices. Although, I haven't really heard much as far as x1 hardware failure, definitely less than previous gens.
 
I'll vouch for that WD 4TB - Good stuff. 

And I love how easy it is to install and format these drives. Sony really needs to get their lead ass in gear in regards to making external drives usable on the PS4. 

Christ, even the Wii U enjoys external drive support. 

 
I wonder if there's any shot in hell they make Rocket League GWG next month, since Sony gave it away at launch. I know the scenario now is completely different (launching much later after becoming very popular vs. being an unknown game), so I'm assuming that's not going to happen. I'm fine with that though, I plan on getting it either way.

 
I played for rocket league in pc (on sale of course). And ps4 (missed it on ps+) and I'll still pay msrp for it on Xbox one. It's that much fun.

Don't mention this in the PSN thread or you'll get a lot of responses about how it's so much better to be able take apart your machine and install new parts (all the while limited to 2TB) rather than plug something into a USB port and not have to lose/transfer data, etc.

EDIT: I'm sort of joking with my comment here, but there are some staunch defenders of Sony's methods. A lot of people would agree that both internal and external upgrade options are best, but PSN thread would have you believe that both Sony's and Microsoft's upgrade methods are equal.

The Rocket League devs said they somewhat regretted being a PS+ game at launch, so I doubt it on Xbone unless MS paid them a lot for it. Though who knows if the game would have gained as much ground if it was free.

I hope they add more Soul Calibur. I'd love V to become BC. Glad Konami wasn't able to fuck over Skullgirls here too.

Right?! I mean there are things that the PS4 does better, for sure. But 30-second USB plug-and-play external HDD vs. having to actually take apart the console? Microsoft 100% destroys Sony on this specific thing, and it blows my mind that people on this very message board can argue otherwise with a straight face.

 
I already own Witcher 2, but I'm glad its backward compatible now and I'm glad Microsoft made it free for those that don't own it.

Every one of these BC batches I've just been hoping that there are two or three fun titles that I will actually play.  This month delivered that for me.  That - coupled with the announcement that games will be released when they're ready rather than once a month - makes me reasonably happy right now. O:)

The funniest defense of preferring an internal hard drive upgrade for PS4 is that it won't use up a USB port. The low number of USB ports is another oversight on Sony's part and an internal upgrade to help address lacking USB ports isn't a proper answer. That's just saying two wrongs makes a right.

 
Just finish chapter 1 in The Bridge for 23 points. You can do it in five minutes. It's a fun game, too.

Now that I own both systems my biggest complaint is the battery life on the PS4 controller. It needs to be charged every other day it seems. Say what you want about needing "batteries" in the X1 controller but I charge the dang thing like once every 8-10 days or more.

 
I am happy The Witcher 2 is BC also but honestly I will most likely just play The Witcher 3 when I finally do play a Witcher game.

I used to be jealous that ps4 has a serviceable internal hard drive. I like the idea of not having to plug in an external hard drive. Then I brought my Xbox external drive over to my friend's house to play my games. That's a huge benefit.

PS4 controller's battery life is atrocious, I am basically always wired when playing because you can't change the battery. XB1 and 360's option to replace the batteries are so much better than having it built in, that, for whatever reason, is what most people wanted.

As an owner of both, I concur 100%. The battery life is atrocious on PS4. The no external hard drive is a major bummer, too. My XB1 has 7.5 TB storage (two externals, plus the 500gb internal). I constantly have to delete/reinstall shit on my PS4.

I hate the PS4 controller, have actually considered that Cronus thing so I could use my X1 controllers. but swapping out the hard drive took me less than 5 minutes. If you're gonna have your PS4 long term it's basically necessary to do, and really not even worth batting an eye over
