Wow I didn't see enough of responses here for it. But it baffles me that Microsoft has pulled the plug on the 360 yet Sony is still making PS3s.

But perhaps Microsoft is a bit more inclined to pull the plug on the 360, especially if the rumors are true that the XB1 has only sold around 20 million, as the PS4 is probably at 36+ million at this point. One way to increase sales is giving people less options: and that is to offer the X1 at a exciting price: while removing the ability to buy new 360s.

I am hoping someone has a good clearance/big markdown on the latest 360 model. I'd love to score a new 360 for $99-$129. I can not believe that the 360 is still retailing for $199. It seemed like yesterday that I was able to score a Gamecube for $79 with Zelda Wind Waker and Metroid Prime 1+2 (though I think the second game was just a demo... foggy memory here).

Anyways...

End of a fucking era. Outside of the god awful hardware reliability pre-slim model, the XBox 360 was my second favorite console of all time. I'll never forget the days spending countless nights playing Rainbow Six Vegas or Gears of War on XBox Live. I lost a lot of sleep thanks to the many great games that took advantage of XBox Live. Microsoft was real leader pushing the storefront and online infrastructure and taking second place really gave Sony a run for their money.

The party system was pretty revolutionary for consoles at the time. Also the reason why in game chat is pretty much dead today lol.

One thing I miss on the XBox one is the ability to play a timed trial/demo of every single 360 arcade game. Reviews tend to either be overly harsh and/or massively bias these days and I liked the ability to play a game for a few minutes to get a feel for it.

The only thing Microsoft can do now is continue to work on BC and *PUSH* publishers/developers to get their shit on the BC storefront. From AAA games like Skyrim, to shooter heaven games like Deathsmiles. I want to be able to play my entire 360 catalog outside of the obvious Kinect/Peripheral games that can't work due to system limitations. Get on it Microsoft!

Also for love of all that is holy: KEEP THE 360 SERVERS UP FOR A BIT LONGER! 360 BC is amazing and I want a few more years to play some MP online. Do not sour the experience by turning off the 360 servers in a few years!*

*I realize the chances of this happening are low thanks to XBox Live Gold; why turn off servers when people are still paying for a year of Live? I'm sure the chances will go higher in say 3-4 years...

Apologies for this long ramble as I am on little sleep and a bit grumpy over the 360 news. But again, it was only a matter of time.

Pretty sure PS3 is done too. Amazon hasn't had new PS3 shipped from Amazonllc in many many months (only jacked up 3rd party systems)

Maybe they are still in stores (I mostly shop online) but they have been pretty much not in stock with any major retailer for a long time.

I think its the exact opposite, that its baffling that Sony is still supporting the PS3 when the PS4 is doing so well. MS's move makes much more sense as that is normally the way consoles are phased out, once you have a solid base with the new iteration and sales start dropping considerably for last generation hardware, which is exactly what were seeing right now, for both PS3 and the 360. As well as the PS4 is doing, contining to suppport the PS3 will only take that many more sales away from the PS4. Were almost 3 years into the new consoles. Its time to retire last generation and move 100% into this generation. Of course, that is much easier for MS now that they have backwards compatibility. And as nice a backwards compatability is, I never sell my games and I own just way too many 360 games (over 400 retail games and roughly 350 digital games) to rely on MS making all of them backwards compatible so I just purchased the blue 500GB Xbox 360 COD bundle yesterday. I still have a 360 that is working, but its going on 4 years old so I don't know how many more years it has before it starts having problems. Better to have one on standby, ready to go in case the one I own breaks down.

And the one thing that people fail to realize is that the XBox One is still outselling the XBox 360 at the same point in its lifespan and the Xbox 360 went on to become one of the most successful consoles of all time.. So while it may not be selling as well as the PS4, the Xbox One is still selling extremely well and has broken pretty much every record in the book for MS up to this point. When you read a lot of posts on gaming forums....well, you start to see a lot of the same kinds of posts and in regards to this generation, there seems to be a LOT of gamers (mostly PS4 supporters) that seem to think that you have to be #1 in hardware sales to be highly successful in the consoles market. If last generation taught us anything, its that first place in hardware is really not important at all as the Wii trounced both the 360 and the PS3 in regards to hardware sales, at least for the vast majority of the generation, yet the 360 and PS3 were FAR more profitable overall as most of the money in the console industry is made on games, not hardware, and the PS3 and 360 trounced the Wii in regards to total software sales.

The PS4 will unquestionably win this generation. At this point, thats pretty much a given. That being said, MS and Xbox One are still doing extremely well and the xbox division is highly profitable right now. This mindset that you have to be #1 to have a highly successful generation in regards to consoles....well, it couldn't possibly be more incorrect. At the end of the day, both the PS4 and the Xbox One will have highly susccessful generations this time around. In fact I expect this to be the single best console generation to date in regards to overall sales and total profits, both for Sony and MS. Again, if the Wii and last generation taught us anything, its that getting #1 in hardware sales is really more about bragging rights than anything else.

Seriously. When I saw the news the first thing I thought was I hope there are clearance sales. I still play 360 more often, but I have so much of a backlog still it's crazy. I would love to grab an extra console or 2 bc of this.

Though I fear it's more likely there won't be sales/clearances and stores will just sell of the systems at regular price until they are gone.
 
I have serious doubts there will be a sale

the rest of the systems in stock are going to go to people buying backups and systems to sell later at jacked up prices

still a strong demand and I don't see them getting much less than 199

Amazon is already sold out of the 199 and peggle bundle (shipped from amazon llc) and only a few left of the COD bundle

I bet the rest of stock is going to go quick at all retailers with no real deals

What's the best price for a year of Live Gold right now? One of my coworkers just bought an Xbone and he wants to make sure to subscribe right away and grab the April GWG games.

 
I could see a price cut by like $50, but even that I doubt. I don't think a ton of people like us are buying new 360s at this point unless they skipped it the whole generation and there some exclusives they want to play that and they don't have an Xbone or they aren't BC. But plenty of parents buy the cheaper consoles for their kids still for various reasons.

I doubt Microsoft is dying to sell these as fast as possible. Even with a sale Xbone is still $100 more than the 500 gig 360s out there, they'll still sell. The only thing people buying for their kids seem to worry about is the low amount of new games still coming to last gen. Though it is mostly kid friendly stuff these days, sports, licensed games, Skylanders/Infinity, and Lego.

 
Target will clearance them out at some point.  They have with all the prior consoles that get discontinued.

They'll probably only end up with 50% off at most stores though.

 
Mirror's Edge : Catalyst delayed 2 weeks. Releasing June 7 in NA and June 9 in the UK. Delay is cause of closed beta feedback regarding social stuff like time trials, leaderboards, etc......I view this as a good thing since EA is making an effort to not ship a broken game. May is already PACKED with games like The Park, Battleborn, Superhot, Doom, Homefront Revolution, Overwatch & TMNT Mutants in Manhattan

As others have mentioned, have your coworker just check to see if there is a free month available on the console. Just have them make a regular account and usually there will be ads giving a free trial.

Looks like that $1 for 1 month promo is still going on as well.

I'm not sure that Sony is churning them out at this point either but MS probably more wanted to make it clear that the bros should stop playing BLOPS 2 and move on to next gen already.

I'm rooting for the underdog, hopefully smrnov passes him. At the very least it would be interesting to see some back and forth. Also I wouldn't count out #4 RedmptionDenied, he is a ways behind but if you saw what he did in GTASC last year then you know why he could put himself in the running.

 
You guys following these achievement hunters like they are athletes is awesome. Instead of living in mansions having tons of groupies like athletes do, these guys probably have a sweet dungeon in their mons basement with full size anime body pillows

in which case they upgraded mom's house to a mansion and they have solid 5/10 cyber groupies that like to dress up as non humans

Cannot speak for the other people at the top but Stallion83 has done pretty good for himself in many ways. Plus I hope you are not saying people who play video games for a living cannot do really really well.

I never did get around to picking up the Beatles dlc I wanted. . Tempted, but think I'll pass at this point.

Wish that the Beatles: Rock Band was exportable and/or backwards compatible.

I've bought four different consoles (Day One, Halo 5, Pick Your Free Game from Best Buy, Pick Your Free Game from GameStop) and they all had a code for a two week trial in them. In fact, the last time I saw a one month sub was in the :360: console I opened to trade in about a month ago.
