Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Made some progress in ReCore, and turns out HD platforming does a great job invoking my fear of heights. The first time you really use Seth (the spider-crawler bot), it's wayyy high up in the air. This never bothered me back in the N64 days (or in any Mario game, for that matter), but the sense of height/depth is much greater and phew. I can't be the only one with this problem.
Don’t feel alone I’m afraid of heights too. Surprisingly it doesn’t bother me as much as it should in VR games but any game or movie with someone hanging from a cliff for example easily makes my damn palms sweat every time lol

(Finally) Completed the Just Cause 3 campaign. Now time to do the DLC missions.

Just wanted to point that Naughty Dog has nothing on Avalanche. Every single cutscene, without exception, ended with Rico turning his back to the camera. That's art at its finest right there  :whistle2:

I Beat Life is Strange and enjoyed it enough to want to play the prequel...in a few months or so. Though it took awhile getting over playing a game that didn't involve someone getting stabbed, punched or shot repeatedly in the face or crotch, Now onward to a game where I will probably stab, punch or shoot someone in the face or crotch.

I just finished the prequel and I will say it was enjoyable because I like the original but the lack of a superpower and that it was more soap opery wasn’t my favorite part.

Yep. I played Tales from the Borderlands and finished it this weekend to take a break from exploding things, but now I need a break fro TellTale. I enjoy their games but even at 2 hours per episode / 5 episodes, they feel too long unless the story is super engaging. The puzzles feel tedious and I'd rather it just be an interactive movie with decisions to make, given how poorly the characters control when walking.

The 'push left to make character do thing' was way more unnerving and interesting in TWD when you were doing things like cutting off limbs. Come to think of it, everything was more interesting in TWD. TftB was still good, though. I'm surprised they gave TTG so much liberty with the canon, since it really shakes things up for the inevitable BL3.

How is Shantae: Human Growth Hormone....guessing what HGH stands for?
I played it on 3DS and it was fun. The series is a pretty consistent modern 2D throwback Metroidvania style game. It felt occasionally tedious, but if you're a fan of the genre, you'll probably like it.

I don’t necessarily have a big fear of heights, but I know what you’re talking about. I had a few of those moments in my first Assassin’s Creed 2 playthrough.

Always aim for the midline. Nose. Chin. Throat. Sternum. Gut. And crotch.

I Think I'll probably enjoy the prequel than. Wasn't a huge fan of it basically going all "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" near the end and basically the last 20 minutes felt, kinda out of place. Though I am curious what season two will be since that last episode, regardless of ending, left on a pretty conclusive note. Also save file doesn't matter for the prequel, right? I Got the prequel during that Amazon price glitch for PS4 so it looks like I'll be playing it on different consoles and hope no decisions kinda carry over in anyway.

I Wish the game just had Kinect voice commands so I can just yell my decisions and just break the flow of all these over slowly moving characters talking to other characters on how they're doing. That and I wish there was a shake character you're talking to violently command in all these games, because there tends to be a shit hits the fan moment where I feel it necessary.

Also no Pinball FX 3 sale still, XBox? Now you made buy Pinball Arcade season 7 for that sweet, sweet price glitch on PS4. I Mean, I was going to buy it regardless, but now you're making me play pinball on what basically amounts to the mistress of my current gen console! See what you made me do??

Just download Zen Pinball 2 three times on your 360s.

This is why I'm banned from every carnival. Those people in dunk tanks just can't abide by my rules of life.

What the hell do you take me for? A sad man with nothing, but free time who just downloads random free crap? Of course I did that already! I Did that weeks ago, you think I wouldn't have? But I want new hotness dammit! I Want extra frames on those paddles and bumpers or whatever.

I started season 1 of Telltales Batman last night. After one episode it's good but isn't interesting me as much as game of thrones or walking dead. It seems like button prompts don't matter as much either. I've pressed the wrong button during quick time events and nothing negative happened. The only visible jank was during one scene Batmans head ddidnt know which way to face and would pop in all directions, including backwards.

played ep1 of TT batman and ep 1 of TT GoT and will not play the rest as they're not engaging or interesting enough (QTE's don't count for engaging), with actions that feel like even though they might be 'remembered' by some char, they don't carry any weight. to be fair, some of TWD was like that as well. also, creaky TT engine is creaky and no excuse for that this late in its life. i could deal with dropping frames early in its life, but not after 7 or so years on.

Tales From the Borderlands, though, had so much character (not nearly as dark as TWAU) and some goofiness as well as some really heartfelt moments... i played thru twice 'cuz i had to be the good guy and also try being a super-dick. excellent both play thrus. really liked the two main characters and ability to play from both perspectives.

on the topic of DwG, since Jan 1st, the 360 deals have been phoned in. roughly 7 total games on sale in two weeks. i realize there was the big new years sale, which i believe was a copy pasta of the black friday sale, but now there's almost nothing. if this continues week after week with only three games on sale, the best one of which i already own, they're going to be saving me a lot of money. what with all the crap games i won't be buying... i'm looking at you 'faery' and 'rotastic'.

another Sims 4 DLC is out for the CAG who's been buying them all so far. $20 or $18 with EA access.

Started Gears of War 4. I wish Judgement was like this: Flashbacks first, then advance the present story. Honestly, I had more fun with the DLC in Judgement than the main campaign.

No complaints so far. Typical Gears goodness.

Damn, 98GB update for Halo 5.
Have you played recently? I just booted it up and it's just a 1101.1 MB update. Keep in mind the updates tab on the games and apps screen is completely broken so maybe it just popped for you but unless you've tried starting the game (the only surefire way to see if there is an update) lately that must be from a ways back.

I keep being tempted by Blood Bowl. I see in the description that there is a single player campaign which is all I care about. Can all the new races in the expansion be used in the campaign?

This game was bomb bruh! Great return after my Gears of War hiatus.

The base campaign is a tutorial for the humans, but the expansion adds solo tournaments that you can use any race in. I already had the base game and picked up the full upgrade with DLC packs, and I like that the different races fit differing playstyles. I haven't played a whole lot because I'm trying to knock out some cheevos in Little Nightmares for the rewards points.

That game is bullshit btw. I like the art style and stuff, but even in the first level it's really easy to walk off ledges and have to replay sections. It saves every couple rooms, but I had to replay a long climbing part quite a few times.

So, regarding the Life is Strange talk, my favorite part of the first is
where you can smack the dude's food on the floor at the diner. I WAS EATING THOSE BEANS
. I laughed so fucking hard. Reloaded and did that way more times than I should have.

Generally solid advice except for the "gut" part. That's the one level where you're better off going to one side or the other for a kidney or liver shot. But more likely, just go a little lower to the crotch.

Wait...we're talking about fighting, right?

I guess "go a little lower to the crotch" is good advice either way.

save file doesn't matter.

another Sims 4 DLC is out for the CAG who's been buying them all so far. $20 or $18 with EA access.

I bought the Big Ol' Exploitative Sims DLC Pack during the daily sale but I'll be waiting on this newest one until it drops quite a bit. I feel like if I make another purchase like that, I could be banned from CAG for good, especially at full price!

Started Gears of War 4. I wish Judgement was like this: Flashbacks first, then advance the present story. Honestly, I had more fun with the DLC in Judgement than the main campaign.

No complaints so far. Typical Gears goodness.
It seems like a lot of people didn't really enjoy the Gears 4 campaign, but I really dug it. Honestly, I really enjoyed all four of the main Gears campaigns (never really played Judgment). I didn't mind JD like some people did, either. Let's be real; Marcus was probably a pretty shitty dad, lol.

Well, you are aware that there are a few dads in this thread. :whistle2:

So, regarding the Life is Strange talk, my favorite part of the first is
where you can smack the dude's food on the floor at the diner. I WAS EATING THOSE BEANS
. I laughed so fucking hard. Reloaded and did that way more times than I should have.
Mine was "shoot that bumper!"

Not me!

Not really the right thread but pretty sure I saw it here initially. Hey does anybody ever know that happened with the whole free $10 code thing from Best buy for picking up an order in store?

I haven't seen any mention of it and honestly when I was selecting in store pickup it gave me no indication that I would get any incentive.

Thanks in advance.

On SD it says "Savings codes will be emailed starting on 1/14/2018 w/ expiration date of 2/3/2018. Limited to 3 savings code per customer."

So we have a little bit of time left to wait. :)

Thank you I'm wanting to pre-order UFC 3 but would definitely prefer to knock $30 off. Looks like the timing should be nearly perfect. Thanks again

Sorry for the delay everyone! My constant giveaway is still going on and I have some new codes for it(Fallout 3, Victor Vran Overkill Edition DLC), I've just been working 16 hours a day for the past week. Hoping with the morning off tomorrow I should be able to get it started up in full swing again here in the new thread. But this time it's going to be a little different!

Hope everyone is staying warm and safe out there!

Sorry to hear you're working OT. I'd like Fallout 3, please.

You're right about the end of the first season, it did get kind of wonky but the time manipulation kept me feeling like I was playing/manipulating the game. The prequel felt more like a walking simulator with few real impactful choices (except for the ending), which is okay because I like walking simulators just maybe not ones centered on teenage girls so much. I get in the prequel where Chloe is coming from but it's kind of not in my emotional wheelhouse. In the end, it's more Life is Strange which I think is good. Looking forward to the bonus episode upcoming with Max.

If you still have a Fallout code, I wouldn't mind taking it off your hands

Would love a Fallout 3 code also if you have it. Thanks!

Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but in addition to the games I already knew about (Transformers and Korra), there seems to have been a mass delisting from Xbox 360 games on demand. Maybe this happened earlier and I missed it but most games are from Activision. These include the Cabela’s games, Walking Dead Survival Instinct, etc. and some non-Activision games such as Darkest of Days. I can’t find official news of this anywhere.

TA posted an article about the delistings https://www.trueachievements.com/n31098/update-eight-xbla-delistings-bring-in-the-new-year

Not to burst your bubble but I think you can only use one savings code per transaction. At least that’s what it says in the terms. So you’ll only be able to knock off $10 from UFC 3, unless you’re buying Xbox money to preorder it digitally.
