Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Ended up buying Ghost Recon Wildlands. After hearing Wombat talk about how much he likes the game I realized this is a great game for me when I want to just de-stress. Glad xbox put it on sale because it was in the UBI store sale but they wanted $20 but $10 shipping for a standard copy. $23 and tax is worth it.

My external is pissing me off. Every time I disconnect power completely from the Xbox, it wont recognize the drive and I have to do a whole workaround on the laptop to wipe it and then reconnect it again.

What does this have to do with this thread? Well, I like downloading a bunch of games from game pass that I wont play anyway :whistle2:
Like you unplug the console from the wall? Is it a USB powered drive? Are you leaving the drive connected until you unplug the console?

I find it funny that Hunter Call of the Wild developers got a pretty huge amount of backlash for saying they won't do a 4K patch for the X at launch, but now have the 4K patch and are on gamepass. I am so petty right now.

It's probably the only game I'm not gonna try either on Gamepass. Everything else seems to have a 9/10 on Steam (and obviously not Sacred Citadel, since it was GWG already).

Well what I said earlier was:

Any thoughts on Necropolis? Didn’t get such hot reviews but looks like the kind of game I’d probably like.

Also didn’t realize that the update for Resident Evil 7 for
Xbox One X enhancements with 4K and HDR came out a few days ago. Have it on PS4 but hmmmm....might have to double dip!
I picked it up and played it a bit yesterday. The combat animation seems a bit sluggish to me. The game play itself is fun. Running around and fighting a bunch of enemies, collecting loot, crafting items...

Got a forced update just now, thankfully I had returned to town in MHW a few minutes before and it didn't pop while fighting Black Diablos.

I recently did a very bad thing and fired up Geometry Wars 3 after buying it a few weeks ago. I was totally addicted to it on my Vita a few years ago, and have been hooked all over again. Last night I got the remaining achievements I actually think I'm capable of (3-stars on every level seems far too much for a few of them) but one of them awarded points, unlocked 20 minutes later, and then subtracted it from the total earned for the game even though it shows it at 100%. I'm guessing this will fix itself on its own eventually?

Either way, I think I feel like I can stop playing it now.

If you haven’t done co-op yet it’s a blast.

Since the current sale ends April 9th but some items (not sure if they are the weekly ones), go off sale on date night, any chance that there is a week 2 of this spring sale?  Anyone know?

Yes, I move the console around from time to time. It is a USB powered drive just plugged into the back of the console and it is left connected until I unplug the console.

Got Resident Evl 7 with the X update. Looks good but not as impressive as some of the other upgrades. Need to put it on my PS4, maybe I’ll see the differences more.

Then again, after Far Cry 5, it’s hard to compete. I do think Ubisoft has done the best with the X in general. RE7 is a dark game too.

I'm not saying the game's not worth buying, it still appeals to me greatly and has had decent reviews at times. Just every time I consider caving at $7.50 I wind up getting put off by that.

Maybe try unplugging the drives while the console is off but plugged in? There's no option I can see to actually eject them though. Never had an issue doing it that way when I've needed to rejigger cabling. Small thing but might make the difference since the drives are getting power from the XB1 even when it's off.

yep. Wildlands, Far Cry 5, and AC Origins are mouth watering on the X. They've set the standard for 4K/HDR enhancements. Gears Of War 4 is right there with them, too. But Ubi knows how to properly harness the power of the console.

It's worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

Finished Far Cry 5 this morning, really enjoyable playthrough.  If you enjoyed 3, 4 or Primal, I think you'll find a lot to like here too.  FC3 may still be my favorite one, but this is close behind.  Ubi is on a roll lately, so kudos to them.  That said, I hope they incorporate feedback from this game into future ones, such as offering an independent music volume slider, multiple save slots, and avoiding competing button bindings. [In FC5, it's way too easy to swap your weapon with some random gun on the ground since that function and 'loot' are both mapped to X. Arg.]

Quick word of caution to anyone picking this up for co-op: it doesn't support both players making simultaneous mission progress.  Only the host's game progresses, so the co-op partner is like a playable NPC.  Quite a disappointment for some.   Not sure why Borderlands/Gearbox again nailed this perfectly but other studios can't.

Solid 8/10, likely moving up to 8.5 if Ubi patches a few things.  Looking forward to rebuying the Gold edition on digital sale someday.

Yeah, I watched the Far Cry 5 Digital Foundry comparison and they were going on and on about how amazing they did with the X. 4K and rock solid frame rates with gorgeous HDR colors for an open world game on console. That’s what I dreamed for the X and Ubi is delivering the goods.

It's not as mind blowing as Halo 5 or Gears 4 were with jumps that's for sure. Halo 5 on X vs Halo 5 on the OG XBox 1... lmao.

I actually fired it up to finish the DLC. The DLC is mostly disappointing but it was nice to play the game again. Think Not a Hero took me an hourish and End of Zoe around 2 hours because of the boss.. The DLC/season pass was just disappointing.

Speaking of X enhancements, Agents of Mayhem is rather disappointing to. I've been chipping away at it and the FPS goes from 30fps at one point and 60fps at other points. Plus graphically just underwhelming. But It was fun for the small price I paid anyways.

The co-op is a hilarious mess. While my brother and I are having so much fun that we are literally in tears at times, it has some extremely frustrating issues. Among the ones you already mentioned, the joining player doesn't earn some of the story achievements, the netcode is buggy as hell, the game breaks at times for reasons I believe is that the other player did something that the game didn't expect and you can't move on until you both die and try again...and so on and so on.

It is frustrating that they came out last year and said you could play through the game together but it honestly feels like an unpolished rush job a lot.

That's dissapointing to hear about RE7's DLC. I think I might just buy a $10 copy at Redbox and forget about the DLC until the season pass gets a huge discount.

Disappointing to hear for me as well. I decided to get the gold edition. But guess for $7.50 more for the SP stuff it still isn’t too bad.

The RE 7 DLC situation was always kind of wonky, I was holding out hope they were actually going to add the PS4 only VR version since it's oddly a play anywhere title on the Windows 10 store.  Perhaps that's the reason why they never bothered since it would be mean nothing playing on Xbox.

Thanks for the warning. I was looking forward to playing another co-op game with my girlfriend. I'm not buying Monster Hunter World either because its co-op is also a joke.

The glitches makes for some extremely hilarious scenarios though. I don't think my brother and I have used the record feature on the Xbox as much as we have with Far Cry 5.

Is the non-host in co-op a stand alone character or if I join another persons game does my skill tree transfer over?

EDIT: I misread your post and it seems like it doesn't transfer. Sorry.

Can’t say from experience since I’ve only used it with 4K but from what I’ve heard it gives a significant boost even on 1080p. Definitely has a performance boost for loading times and frame rates.
As somebody with a 1080p TV and an Xbox One X, this isn't really the case. It's kind of all over the place, but most games don't get much of a boost naturally from the power of the Xbox One X to make any sort of difference. I tried out Defense Grid 2, which has extremely long load times on Xbox One vs the PS4 and that didn't really change at all. Even games like Hitman that did get an update didn't see an improvement to load times like it did on PS4 Pro, which is weird.

That said, there are games that stick out for looking quite nice with their update (Forza Horizon, Crackdown, Gears of War 3).

Just got back from Ready Player One - it's an AVX big-screen must if you're a fan of the book and/or 80's pop culture scene.

Also, my two cents is to read and enjoy the book first if you plan on reading it.  The movie changes a few things, but also spoilers a lot of the book's plot points.  I really enjoyed both.  It's amazing what movies can do these days.

One of the trailers was for Avengers Infinity War.  I had to close my eyes to stop the reveals, but what I did see was EPIC.  A multi-year crescendo of comic heroes come to life - pinch me I'm dreaming!

So I got a Xbox One X from the ebay deal last week and with all the 4k talk I checked out some tv prices tonight and ended up getting the TCL S405 55" for $370 on Amazon. Seemed like a really good price. I can't wait to check out some stuff in 4k HDR. It is amazing how much 4k set prices have dropped. Anyone have 4k content recommendations? Certain movies or series? Also how is Netflix in 4k? Is it worth the additional cost?

For recent movies, Mad Max Fury Road, Kong Skull Island and the Jumanji reboot look amazing IMO. Didn’t think The Last Jedi looked all that great. Older movies can also see a huge difference. Got The Princess Bride and it looked like a new movie. Even something like Office Space looks crystal clear.

I like having Netflix in 4K because all of the Marvel series and pretty much every other originals are UHD. Worth it for me at least.

Well this is kind of a bummer:

So those of us who can't use Microsoft Rewards due to region issues are basically screwed ?

Had just seen that on their site and was about to post it. Hopefully they restock the Gem items before the switch, since, if the FAQ is correct, the Gems are worth a lot more now than they will be later.

One MyVIP Gem will convert to one Microsoft Rewards point.
One Microsoft Rewards point is equal to one Xbox Live Rewards Credit.
Right now, if they were in stock, 500 Gems could be redeemed for 10k Rewards credits, which is $10. 500 Gems converted to 500 MS Rewards points is roughly 50 cents. Though 10k Rewards credits converted to 10k MS Rewards points could be worth ~$14.29 if held out for a Hot Deal on $5 XBL credit for 3,500 MS points.

The April mission is related to pandemics. The FAQ hasn't updated yet with the full list of games, but the page shows a number of items that are part of the spring sale. Spend $40 on games / movies / shows, $2 on avatar items, pop 5 achievements for a total of $14 worth of credits back.

For those interested in 4k TVs to pair with their shiny new Xbox One Xs, TCL's new 6-series will be released "by May 1st."

Just when they really started expanding it and adding gems and such. Guess I won't hoard gems until I can get an X.

It only specifies "in the US". I presume you're not in the US if you can't use Microsoft Rewards.

Here is a list of the stuff for the Pandemic Mission. Not sorted or anything but slightly easier to read than the rewards site. A lot of it seems to be on sale.

I'll probably be picking up Dying Light The Following and The Division Gold. I would grab Resident Evil 7 to play in VR on PC if they ever announce that's happening.

That's a lot of Resident Evil, I never knew it was played this much - for so many games to be out.

Which pick can you guys steer me to? Is there a clear superior between 4, 5, and 6?

4 and 5 are my favorites outta those 3, played a little of 6 because of game pass but couldn't really get into it

Lol, I feel like I just barely learned what the gems are and how to use them.

Not sure if it's out on xbox, but I see PC players are streaming it on twitch already.

So guess all the people that have been banned from Microsoft Rewards for exploiting it will be missing out on rewards from their XBL going forward.

4 >>>>>>>> 5 > 6

That being said 6 was Capcom's best ever selling game before MonHun took that title. 5 and even more 6 deviated greatly from the RE formula to become more just shooters. Doesn't mean they don't have their moments but they're not great examples of what people mean when they talk about RE.

Lol, I feel like I just barely learned what the gems are and how to use them.
They emailed me the other day that I got one, I have no idea what they are still.

Shall be intersting to see what they do with emails that are banned from MS rewards that are associated with the actual Xbox Live account and Xbox Live rewards accounts. They brought the ban hammer hard on MS rewards accounts back in the day. If they fuck me over Phil can bite me ;)
