This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

No - I DID NOT buy AC. Now I wish I had. Could have gotten the first 2 games for $5 total.
Sorry I misread your original post. All I can say is what were you thinking?! If you didn't own Batman Arkham City prior to that sale I doubt you could ever have imagined grabbing it for any cheaper. And it's probably one of the best games to come out for the system. For $5 it was a total steal. Remember the policy of CAG when things are on sale - "buy now think later"

Yes there is, it's called Ninja Gaiden III - that game bit the big helium dog (not sure what the re-release was like, had to be better)
What? That game was not easy. They maybe toned down the difficulty alittle in three, but it was the worst and most frustrating gaming experience ive had to date. I loved two, but I could not await the day I could finally say, " I beat Ninja Gaiden 3, and will never ever!!!! have to play this shit again".

Yeah - I did a last minute run since the weekly sale was so shitty and ended up getting Oblivion instead. Just didn't want to start the trilogy with the second game... Now we know why it was on sale. :) Of course, it doesn't matter anyway, since I can't stop playing Bejeweled... It's Video Game Crack...

I remember when I was really, really into Bejeweled a couple years ago. I kid you not, when I closed my eyes I would see those coloured gems everywhere. A nightmare, I tell you, and I'm doing my best to avoid this route again.

However, I did not resist buying Bejeweled 3 again for Xbox 360, despite having completed it multiple times on PC (along with any other Bejeweled game ever, on PC, on mobile and on X360). I got myself into it just enough to have a 200/200 from it, now to other less-crack-effect games.

The game was easy in the sense that it was the first game in the series where I can just keep mashing X and win majority of the fights. Though it was an awful, awful game.

Well if the GwG really turn out to be Batman and Ninja Gaiden then it looks like its another month were I won't need to buy Gold since I already played those games.

I really question the validity of that poster on x360a. He provides no proof other than saying he knows they will be the GWG freebies for March. Meanwhile a quick search on google finds this thread with Batman AA and Ninja Gaiden 2 being predicted as the March freebies which was posted Feburary 13th. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/927749-xbox-360/68566559?page=0

I am just saying, don't get your hopes up too high. It could be another King Kong/Just Cause 2 rumor. Or heck it could be like Dead Island how that random post on slickdeals with no source turned out to be true. So who knows *shrugs* We'll know for sure when Major Nelson posts tomorrow or Friday

Would like those GwG Games but Ninja Gaiden is AGAIN not available here so if these ARE the games for MArch we will most likely get a substitution like Lost Planet 2, Shadowrun, Metro 2033 and Halo Wars before...(all games we got instead of Games like Dead Island or Dead Rising 2, Crackdown or Gears 1)

As someone mentioned before you could just mash X and win. The AI on the enemies was just horrid. It was Dynasty Warriors bad. They just often popped out for you to kill them, but they did so in so many numbers that it was overwhelming, but if you could manage that you could basically just breeze through the game. You didn't need to worry about balancing different swords as you just got upgrades with game progression instead of deciding what you'd like to upgrade at any given point based on what swords worked for you. Also you could just play the game in Hero mode which does a lot of the evasion and blocking for you automatically.

I agree it's frustrating and annoying and awful. But not because it's difficult, but because it's bad. It's constantly about walking into a new arena having 30 boring guys jump out at you for you to kill and then moving on to the next arena. Rinse wash repeat. Yuck.

I think Razor's Edge improved it a bit, but not enough to bring things back to where NG II excelled.

Burnout Paradise Legendary Cars pack is free right now (normally $4.99). This is the pack with the homage cars to famous movies and shows like the DeLorean from Back to the Future, Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, KITT From Knight Rider and the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard.

And I own the game on disc, but I wouldn't mind if it was the GwG for next month.
Thank you! I would LOVE for this to be next month's game. It's one of the last games I really want digitally, that I haven't bought yet. Rockband 3 is another. I was hoping for sales on both of them.

Hey guys, I recently got myself an Xbox One and this is my first foray in the Xbox ecosystem. So, I'm here to introduce myself and post my gamertag, WoifHound81, so you can add me. I plan on getting Titanfall and so those that are too, are even more welcome. Thanks in advance! :bouncy:

3k, 5.5k, 11.5k and 25k gold is on sale.
Oh gheeze.

Also, Zoo Tycoon dropped to $29.99 on the 360 $39.99 and X1. I'm assuming permanent price drop with Best Buy and Amazon taking pre-orders for $39.99 for next week when Wal-Mart's exclusive deal runs out on the disc version.

Edit: Price is cheaper actually on the 360, and listed next week for disc release info.

I'm assuming the $3.99 is $39.99? Otherwise that's one steep ass price cut.

Interesting that we were just all speculating on what MS might do if they ever turn off the online functionality of the Xbox 360 and it looks like Nintendo has announced plans on doing just that to the Wii. Considering that it looks like they have the ability to turn off servers will still allowing access to buy things Wii Shop this might bode well for what MS might do for the 360 when it gets to the end of its life: shut off online capabilities but still allow access to buy DLC/Games. Which does make sense as I'm sure they'll still be able to make some money off the end of the cycle from DLC/Games sales, so why not keep that part of the marketplace open for people who want to purchase things and redownload their old games. Anyways, just thought I'd mention this Nintendo news as we were just speculating on all this yesterday.

Yeah, reading that made me think as well. Basically the online gaming and leaderboards are on, but the markpetplace, the browser and such are still on, which means you can still access the servers and buy content, only no more online. And it makes sense, while mantaining tons of servers for multiplayer games that are barely even played anymore is a useless expense (though the 3DS and Wii U did not come out THAT long ago - and deactivating for example the last Mario Kart and Smash Bros on Wii when the new episode on the Wii U is not out yet does not sound so smart), managing the marketplace ain't no big deal, and they can still cash in on products on the long-run. It is rather sudden, however, they basically gave a 3 weeks notice that DS and Wii will have multiplayer no more. Online tournaments and gaming communities will be pissed, no doubt.

Interesting info. I wish we had some numbers to work with to see whether the goodwill was worth the cost to MS. I mean does Nintendo expect sales from the Wii's eshop and the good will generated to be worth keeping it online? I would feel better having a hard example of how MS has treated a situation like this before but there was no online shop for the original xbox, which they did shut down somewhat recently? 3 years ago?

Yes it's really not all that much notice considering how well the Wii and DS have sold. If it was some lesser system it would make sense. But there are like hundreds of millions of these things out there (something like 153 million DS systems over all the various types and like 101 million for the Wii) so it does suck for Nintendo to just cut it like that, especially when the Wii U is not really doing all that well. But the Wii was never much of an online system. I wonder if there will be an uproar and if Nintendo will be forced to push that date back as I think happened with the original Xbox or maybe some EA game server closures, or something.

What this all got me thinking is that we should be sorta extra grateful for the whole Games with Gold promo because companies might be less willing to pull their online servers and kill part of a game if they can still make a few extra bucks off the GwG promo as I will assume that MS will never give away a game where the servers are switched off. So even when they do give away a game you have just stop and think that that means that that game is likely safe for a little while. It also means we likely will thankfull never see a give away of some really old lame games that have had their servers die ages ago.

I agree, the fact they're throwing so much digital content on us between GwG and sales makes me think they're in this for the long-term (would be a dick move to announce "oh hey we're pulling the servers in 3 weeks, make sure your 600GB stuff is downloaded and stored kthxbai"). The DS and the Wii (especially the Wii) were hardly used for online gaming, though there were people, it's small numbers compared to XBL and PSN surely. Most people I know don't even have their Wii connected to the Internet, if not occasionally for downloading something. Unlike PS3 and X360 which have a massive online community, thanks to the fact pretty much every game has some kind of online element by now. We're used to the farewell of multiplayer with developers continously pulling the servers for their games, so if there was a general off it would suck, but we could survive - especially us CAGs would at least stop screwing around playing multiplayer games and would work on finishing our backlog. Pulling off every other online aspect (part chat, marketplace, re-downloading, etc.) would effectively change the point of Xbox 360 however, so I hope that won't happen for many, many years. But yeah, as someone pointed out, Xbox 1 servers were pulled off only a few years ago, and the Xbox 1 was nowhere near as popular or used online as X360, which was essentially the ultimate step into the online gaming world for many. Despite the fact games may not be released on it after 2016 or so, there's reason to believe our servers won't go away until at least 2020 and beyond. We have time to put our content in a safehouse until then.

Honestly, when M$ announces the end of 360 online servers and such, they should also announce a patch to make any external drive work - otherwise, a lot of us are gonna have to buy a shit ton of thumb drives. Not me specifically, but I'd have a to have a couple...

I would not mind have Batman AA for he GWG deal

especially since i just bought Arkham City on the sale and havent beaten Arkham Asylum in years

Does nobody but me just buy hard drives designed for the 360 (like the link below) and just use a transfer cable to get their downloaded items on/off their main hard drive? Seems lots cheaper to me than a bunch of 32 GB sticks, not to mention more consolidated.

I do, I currently have 3 hds - 2 strictly for storage and one for everything else.

I'd hate to be part of the group who waits until the announcement to redownload their games. Servers would be hit hard and take forever to dl.

Until now I believed Dirt2 had the best soundtrack for a racing game, and it's great indeed, but that honour has jumped to Driver SF without a doubt. I'll try to download it from somewhere. Besides, the game is superfun, awesome driving mechanics, wtf story and humour. Grazie per raccomandare il gioco Baboy.

RIP Harold Ramis.  Unfortunately I was too slow to be able to enjoy the free content that was provided as a response to the shedding of your mortal coil.

What the fuck?  Your mystical comedy powers couldn't make the sale last more than a day?

Du sollst wir nur Deutsch wissen sprechen.

EDIT:
Grammar is probably a little off
Not only the grammar...I have no fuck ing idea what you were trying to say lol...and translating back to english seems even worse lol

EDIT: If you leave it like this in German it would translate to: "You should we only German know speak." in english, it doesn't make sense in either language. You probably wanted to say: You know we shall/should speak German only. which would translate to: Weisst du, wir sollten nur deutsch sprechen.

RIP Harold Ramis.
Saw this pic online earlier today and started having that feel (is that what the kids call it?).

The illustration someone did of him going into the trap with the other three Ghostbusters waving? Yeah... Who would have thought that Ghostbusters and "Teh Feelz" would go so well together. That was a gut punch... especially if you grew up in the 80s.

Solid try on the Italian there :D/

And yeah, the soundtrack is so funky and fitting, it's a great game overall. The thing that surprises me the most is how smooth it is: 60fps, minimal loading times, even online takes you to the game in like 3 seconds from the menu. It's just a damn well built game, there's barely any technical or design flaws I can think of. Maybe repetition after a while.

You cannot translate it word for word because of crazy German grammar. I was trying to say "You should know we only speak german." Up to German 102, sentence structure is mainly Subject Verb Noun Any other verbs. For example: "I want to play Titanfall" would be "I want Titanfall to play." I hate it and wish secondary language wasn't a requirement.

This is the problem; the Xbox has never been profitable. Sure, some years it's been in the black, but in the history of the brand, Microsoft has lost more money than it's gained. They're not even making money on the Xbox One, as this link illustrates:

http://bgr.com/2013/11/26/xbox-one-profit-estimate/

People like to rub their crystal balls and predict that Nintendo will be forced out of the console business, but their losses pale in comparison to the money pits that are the Playstation and Xbox. Nintendo is conservative and (usually) makes a modest profit. Microsoft and Sony spend extravagantly and get little return on that investment. Which is the better way to run a business?
I know this is a fairly old post, but I feel it needs a response.

There is nothing to brag about with respect to Nintendo's business practices. Since the Gamecube, their hardware has been poorly-designed, feature-lacking, gimmicky junk.

-- The 2nd screen on the DS was mostly a joke (that effectively decreased the overall quality of that handheld). Had they opted for just one screen, it could have been higher resolution, better battery life, better CPU/GPU, etc., but the 2nd screen drained resources from those other areas.

-- The Wii was solely based around a terrible waggle gimmick (tied to a very inferior console, for its time) and full of mostly junk shovelware. It was a HUGE success due to the fad nature of the waggle gimmick, but the console itself fizzled out much sooner than it otherwise should have, especially when people realized it had very few good games on it, and even the good ones were gimped by the lousy waggle controls.

-- The 3DS was (once again) gimped by an unappealing gimmick ("glasses free 3D" which sucks unless you have just the right angle of view, most people just turn it off), and again this primary "feature" (which is just a gimmick) caused the overall handheld quality to be decreased.

-- And finally the Wii U with its over-sized, awkward "gamepad" that distracts from play more than it improves it (and often serves no other purpose than "off screen play", and AGAIN features a woefully inferior attached console). Released in December 2012, yet so many features were inadequate or just plain missing! 2GB RAM (with only 1GB available for games), no internal HDD or even a bay for one, no ethernet port (really, they couldn't pay a few lousy bucks to include this?), weak (by the standards of that time) CPU and GPU, no blu-ray or even DVD support, and ancient (slow) USB 2.0 ports, when USB 3.0 had been out over 4 years prior! Could they really have left any more features out of this console?

And lately, Nintendo isn't making a "modest" profit anymore, they've had losses for the last two years! Both the Wii U AND the 3DS are failing to hit their target sales amounts buy huge numbers, and the company is losing money consistently. That really should say a lot about how far this company has fallen, from what once was the single best gaming company in the world.

I still have all my old Nintendo systems (NES, SNES, N64, and GBA SP) and hundreds of games for those, but starting with the Gamecube I skipped literally everything they offered; they truly have lost their way. I think their home console market is finished, they really can't design good hardware anymore, which leaves them with just the handheld market. Even that has been severely eroded by mobile games on Android and iOS. They really need to go back to the drawing board and change the way they operate, because under Iwata, Miyamoto, etc. this company has been run literally into the ground.

Why would you need a transfer cable? You get 500 MB of Cloud space w/ your account. I just got a new 320 GB HD, moved saves, etc over to the Cloud, redownloaded my games, and then let my console CloudSync everything for me. If you exceed 500 MB of stuff I guess maybe, but... that's hard to do with most game saves and whatnot.

Not everyone pays for gold.

how do I download the seperate Ms. Pac Man DL for Pac man Museum?
If you have an alternative method of payment tied to your XBL account (credit card, PayPal), you can get it through the link in the OP. You can also find it under the Extras for Pac-Man Museum on the console. Was the first game under Games -> Browse Games -> Arcade -> Newly Released when I got it last night.

That's not an original MS hard drive, so no backwards compatibility partition (original XBox) and the quality is far from guaranteed. The hard drive inside might be complete junk. I wouldn't want to rely on something like that, prefer to just stick to the original Microsoft drives. I got a bunch of cheap 250gb fat HDDs a year or so ago, when they were being blown out cheap; I guess those cheaper ones are hard to find these days.

The other big issue is that while you can have multiple HDDs for one XBox (as backups or for extra games that don't fit on one), if your original console dies, those become pretty useless. I was thinking of setting up a 2nd 360 and re-downloading all the digital games I bought (as a backup unit), but I think MS only allows you to have ONE 360 available for offline play, isn't that right? If so, the backup system would require online connection to play, unless you "transfer licenses" to that one, making it your primary.
