This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Runner 2? Wasn't that just on sale in the Ultimate Sale?
Yes it was $1.89 or something like that. I picked it up then, still worth the price they have it for if you missed it though. Amazing little platform rhythm game but I lose patience doing all the levels on easy, normal and hard with perfect+.

I finished SoulCalbur IV and almost anything in V (even the online stuff) and have to say IV is much better! But hell for that price I can onyl recommend it! I got V when it was 7,99€ (retail) and it was worth that price too.

I still have SoulCalibur on Dreamcast, SoulCalbur II on Gamecube and SoulCalbur 3 on PS2 and have to say that II and IV are my favorites!

I Thought Soul Calibur II was the last good Soul Calibur mostly because IV and V punish the players for playing defensively and it's so goddamn annoying.

I think your prices are off there a bit Bloomy. Should be $4.99 for Bit Trip Runner 2 (not surprised, it's on sale on Wii U currently), and it should be $7.49 for RCR.
Guess XBLDB is getting more tweaks, what I posted is a copy/paste from the sharable summary section. Looks like the BBCode section has the correct prices, though.

It seems my hopes for a fighter week are dashed again. (´・ω・`)

I don't really play SC and already have SCV on PS3, so I'll probably pass on this week's deal, as good as it is.

Not weird at all, like I said SC is known for its single-player, so plenty of people play tons against the CPU.

SCV is not so great for CPU fighting, unfortunately. The story mode and arcade mode are lacking, and the only other big CPU mode is "Quick Battle" which has 240 CPU characters for you to fight (one at a time), with varying degrees of difficulty. Unfortunately, some of them are a joke, and some are just outright fucking broken.

It's not fun. Only did it for titles in-game and the related achievements. If you need pointers, I'll post them though.

I got it for $30 from Newegg, the CE case (resembling a book) was worth price of admission on its own. Was very well done. I wish SCIV had a cheaper CE, would have gotten that one too.

That said, I liked how SCV's CE cut out the bullshit SCIV's CE had (a fucking t-shirt? Really?).

Retro City Rampage - $7.50

SCV - $3.75

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - $5

Foul Play - $5

Capsized - $5

SCV and UMvC3 are completely different beasts, no worries. SCV is a 3D fighter like DoA5U, correct.

The singleplayer is lacking because as I said above, the only SP modes are "Story", "Arcade" and "Quick Battle". Quick battle is terrible and tedious (240 AI opponents with different names that you beat to get titles for your person online). Arcade has NO character-specific endings and no story whatsoever, though it does have branching paths that you can choose from.

And story just feels unfinished (because it is), with uncoloured storyboards galore meant to serve as cutscenes, on top of the story being short and mostly terrible.

You really do need a friend in-person or online to fully appreciate the game. But it has $3.74 of value otherwise, I think.
I think I will bite after all, though I gotta look at my budget a bit. Was debating Galaga Legions DX if there was nothing good this week, but SCV seems to be good enough. I'll probably find a way to get both. Thanks for the info!

I like IV better overall, but I can't deny that the gameplay in V is superior.

I have SC for 360, SC2 for Xbox Original, PS2, Gamecube. SC2HD for 360, SC3 for PS2, SCIV for 360 and SCV for 360.

2 and 4 are my favourites as well.

I Thought Soul Calibur II was the last good Soul Calibur mostly because IV and V punish the players for playing defensively and it's so goddamn annoying.
That's just nostalgia talking (trust me, I've succumbed to it as well). There were a number of broken things about 2. To say III, IV and V are not "good" is silly.

No problem. Get both if you can.

Giana sisters and Sanctum 2 are tempting :whistle2:k Have to check some videos on youtube to decide if I get any of those. My main problem with SCV (I'll get it for sure), is ALL the space it requires. My HDD is crying.

Why is it that when there's stuff I want on sale I never have money in my account but when I have the most in there I've had in a while there's nothing at all I want?

Sanctum 2 is really fun, but might need more than 1 person to finish some of the later levels.

Ditto. I'm going to snag SCV, and cross my fingers for some other good deals.
Thought about SCV for the nostalgia factor of having played the very old games... but I'm just not a fighter kind of guy. Here's hoping but watch me spend what I've got on something else then there's going to be a sale with around 5 or 6 items I want so I have to add more.

Yeah, so it seems... at least this week the online community will be plenty of gamers if I purchase it (at least I hope so).

edit: watched some videos and Sanctum 2 gonna be a pass, not my kind of game.

If they refuse to do either (which they most likely will) for the sake of the premise, then they have to understand that it'll a decent story, but a subpar "game".
Personally, to me a great game is one that A) excels at everything it sets out to do, and B) does something original or refines an established mechanic to give me something new. I thought Gone Home nailed both of these, as it told a superbly written story that touched on subject matter that has been basically ignored in the medium, and did it in a way that fit the sort of experience they wanted to create.

Obviously if you're comparing it against what most people consider a game, it probably seems to be lacking gameplay or mechanics; stuff most would associate with being a game. I just think that's a bit narrow minded, as the medium is broadening a lot and new sorts of games are going to come out of that. They won't be for everyone, but I believe there is a place for them and they are just as deserving of being called games as stuff like Call of Duty or Forza.

Think I'm going to grab SCV just for the customization.. Was watching some videos online and there are some pretty awesome character creations.. Wish they let you download other peoples so I wouldn't have to do it myself lol

Looks like XBLDB has picked up all the stuff mentioned in the thread, as well as a couple other things (Doodle Jump, Hexodius).  OP is updated.

Will give a try to Hexodius demo. Other than that...SCV is a buy at current price, even though i'm not a big fan of these games.

Capsized looks good but that's all about it. It's really buggy with clunky controls and have two glitched achievements (270G is only possible).

Cool. I was hoping Soul Calibur V would one day get a 50% sale. This is even better. It's just too bad Xbox Live Rewards pushed back it's next deposit date to March 26. I have $5.75 ready to cash out, so I could have bought the game with just Rewards credit. A couple days ago their site said the next deposit date was March 13. Maybe it will still happen. About two weeks into the month is when they used to normally do deposits.

I agree with what I've quoted, disagree with the rest (I don't think Gone Home did anything really original aside from the subject matter (we've had adventure/point-and-click games, and games with collectable diaries in the past), and I don't think devs doing what they fully intended to do guarantee that a game is great if the premise is lacking to begin with). Either way, you make a good argument and I respect your opinion, as always. Agree to disagree.

Try to make sure to mention that Capsized has 2 big unobtainables they've yet to patch (worth 130G of 400G).

I picked up Foul Play. I like the visual style and have no idea about the game play.....yes I am shallow like that.

Seeing SCV for sale under $4 makes me pretty sad. It is the only 360 game that I bought on launch for full price. It was fun and all, but if you don't have SC 4 then pick that one up instead. It's a much better game.

As for the others, I am contemplating Giana Sisters. I have a bad feeling that it will be a purchase I will regret making later on, so I still have to think about it. I picked up the Steam version last week via the HumbleBundle sale, so it's the perfect way to take a test drive.

But of course, I didn't mean to say just because a dev accomplishes what they intend to it automatically makes it a great game, that was more to say that what was there all works and there aren't broken mechanics/stuff that shouldn't be there. I think the subject matter was what made the game unique, and for me personally was enough to carry the experience which I overall highly enjoyed.

But it's fair to point out I'm about as pretentious an indie game loving hipster as you could find, so the stuff I enjoy is generally far from the norm. I can totally see why some/most maybe would dislike stuff like Gone Home, and I'm totally cool with that. Different games appeal to different people, and that's one of the things I love about the genre: there's something for basically everyone.

And likewise I respect your opinion even if I don't always agree with them. I always find it refreshing when people are capable of not bashing the other person when they don't agree with them, so thanks for that ^_^

Wish these arcade titles would have been 67-75% off. I just can't justify spending $5+ on arcade games anymore after getting so many for $1-3 in the last few months.

Hah so you saw the same! I was sure the next deposit is on March 13 I only have 4,41€ left on my accoun too so I could need some more (have 7300 credits right now) I hope we will get the deposit on March 13 instead of March 26...

Not a problem. I appreciate the discussion, how could I bash someone who so thoroughly enjoys one of the best game series of all time? (You already know what I'm referring to.)

This week, I'm looking at Foul Play (missed it/passed it up the last time it was on sale), and Hexodius.

Conflicted on Giana Sisters and Sanctum 2 because they've been in the $1-tier of Humble Bundles. We'll see.

I'd get SCV but I have 2 copies physical. Just can't justify it unless I find a $20 on the street or something.

It looks like $5 and under is now the norm for XBLA title sales. Getting $15 titles for $10/$7.50 seems to not be worth it any more because by the time you play it, it'll have been on sale for $5.

Edit: Foul Play was $7.50 during the Winter sale. Perfect example.

if youre a child of the 80s/90s, id say yes. og gameplay, chock full of funny references. for the price you cant go wrong.
Exactly. Technically, the DX version for the 3DS is the definitive version right now (aside from visuals). But even still, it's worth the $7.50 on 360.

Does anyone know if any other versions are going to get patched to the DX version, or did Nintendo make some sort of deal?

Also, Sanctum 2 just had a $5 DLC come out last month, if you're interested after picking up Sanctum 2.

Probably not due to the challenges of patching on the other systems. The developer actually did a talk and mentioned how difficult it was working with so many organizations to get the game out in the first place.

Who cares about these sales this week? The Warface beta is out!
Ahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahah. The devs lost their chance. Ain't nobody got time for that. fuck em.

Might be interested in RCR. Also, is insect Armageddon any good? I heard it wasn't compared to the other ones in that series.

EDF 2017 and 2025 are orders of magnitude better than Insect Armageddon. IA is severely grindy, with overly long stages and bullet sponge enemies who take way too long to kill. The story is awful and the voice acting is atrocious, and not in a good way. That said, it's still fun for a bit - till the boredom sets in.

If you do buy Insect Armageddon on the cheap, don't hold the game's issues against the rest of the series. Did I mention EDF 2025 is super good?

Could not agree more. Do not get IA, you can get 2017 for cheaper, or just get 2025 (best one so far imo). If you must get IA, the disc version is pretty easy to find sub-$20. $20 for the GoD is not a deal.
