This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

1000/1000'd Guacamelee on the Xbone today.
Very nice. Not sure will be able to run through the game on hard mode. I started at about 4 on Sat and played most of the day today and I was able to get about 2/3 up the temple to Calaca before I had to stop. My hands still hurt. I am not a great platformer and there are parts that tested my skills and patience. I know there is an infinite life trick though so maybe someday. Since I do not actually own an Xbox One yet I am not sure when I will get back though. Definitely like the game but now the PS3 version I have will most likely go unplayed after this long session.

yeah but i feel if there's one system that needs BC its the Xbox1 because i feel that there's many people who would benefit from being able to keep, store and play all Xbox 360/Xbox1 games, including Arcade/Downloadable games, all from one system without worrying about storage space due to the announcements of the Xbox1's storage capabilities and them not reaching out to Xbox 360 owners in anyway in that regard.

So Guacamelee STCE seems like it is different from the one on PS3?  Looks like there is no Intenso ability and the world switching power? Is is worth playing the original?

I think there's a lot of data that suggests that backwards compatibility is one of those features people always say they want during a console transition, and then never actually use. They're hesitant to upgrade hardware, but then once they do, they invariably want the new stuff rather than a way to keep playing their old games. So the manufacturers' challenge is to pay lip service to backwards compatibility in an effort to coax people into making the jump, while not actually spending a lot of resources on a feature no one will really use.
That was true in the past because no one had such large digital libraries and indie games. It sucks that once I do buy an xbox one they will want to repackage and resell me all those arcade games. If they really want an all digital "steam" type model then I need to be able to keep my digital library from old xbox to new xbox like I can my pc library from old computer to new computer.

I don't think so, unless you want to do it for the trophies. STCE should have everything the original version had plus more.

THIS.

You guys are just doing it to yourselves. I'm broke anyways, so I won't be buying whatever is on sale regardless, but that doesn't mean I don't like seeing a fresh sale. Y'all are sadists.

I'd buy Torchlight, Strider, Radiant Silvergun and/or Ikaruga. Well, or Batman Blackgate at 50% or more (I did not have enough with the last 33% off).

So if MS doesn't put on sale some of them, I'll keep my money to myself for the time being.

Iiii'mmm baaack...lol. Had trouble with comcast so had no internet most of the week...

That being said now that I have access to xbox online again I'm completely underwhelmed by this past weeks sale, and free gold game. Won't be downloading it, since I don't like motorbike/sports games. Here's hoping this week will have Anything worth buying...

I know this is old, but I don't understand why people think adding backwards compatibility will lead any console to win the war. I don't even know why it is really demanded much either. I have a huge library of last gen games, so it is not that I don't see the appeal to having one box that can play it all. [...]
It would drag the competitor users. If a ps3 owner knows a xbone can also launch 360 games (those games he refused when buying a ps3) that would win him over. Same thing with changed names, perhaps even more clear: if a ps4 could run ps3 games i'd fckn jump into it without second thought. Add to the mix the PS+ gimme free games program (or the watered-down GwG) as topping: four or more free games a month for your only console.

As others pointed out: the gen gap this time is way more smaller than xbox-360 or ps2-ps3 so a 360/ps3 library doesnt feel dated at all compared to new released games. And the ps4/xbone library isn't precisaly very large so far. Concluding: BC is a winner.

Reeally hope'n for something good this week

Dont think i ever seen Bayonetta on sale

and im gonna keep up the positivity and hope for a Toy Story 3 sale still

I had awaken to an Xbox Live in crisis. The Xbox Rewards program was in a state of deep neglect. A great drought of indies had ravaged XBLA supplies. And our last sale was called "ass" ... and that's all it was for a whole week.

That's not true and you know it.

I do feel sorry for those who had the audacity to be born on August or told Microsoft that. I recall a year ago the Xbox Live rewards program gave everyone else $0.25 for their birthday, yet the August babies were the first to receive that cake instead. Fortunately, I was brought into this world on a Microsoft/ePrize blessed month. Now the survey disappeared (for a month or two) and the reward for a Gold membership renewal disappeared as well this month. A shame, since my Gold membership is set to expire in a week (I still have a couple cards for renewal, but I want to wait until there's a good Deals with Gold or someone actually wants to play online with me, more likely the former to happen). Leaving only the Binge Watch and Play offer and MyAchievements as the only options I have for refunds.

I have been hard at work these past 8 months to fulfill my New Years resolution (finish 2 Xbox 360 games) and gain at least 5001 gamerscore so I can get almost 3% in MyAchievement refunds, and I must say, I have no clue how you people do it. It is so difficult for me to get achievements (I normally do not play for them), everyone else on this thread seem to have amassed 100s of thousands of gamerscore with ease, so I really have to get games off my backlog. I am getting close, so I look forward to almost 3% back for my Xbox marketplace purchases.

At least there were good sales before which brought me close and I purchased some Otomedius Excellent DLC (hey, I waited so long for a Deal with Gold to feature them and it doesn't seem likely to happen by now) along with a random SD video to give me $4.20 back ($5 from Binge, $1.20 from my 2% based on achievements, minus the $2 for the SD video). Since this past week didn't offer me much for discounted content, it will be that much harder for me to spend the required amount for the Binge offer.

I felt this past week of EA titles and content offered on discount for Deals with Gold was a missed opportunity. Given the diverse selection of EA content can offer, a wider variety would have encouraged me to buy and help me along the way for the Binge rewards. I mean, I would have given actual money towards the DLC for Mass Effect (2,3), Dragon Age (the gear sets for 2 specifically), Overstrike, Bulletstorm (missed out the only time its DLC was discounted), Need for Speed series, Skate games, Mirror's Edge, Deathspank: Thong of Virtue, Crysis, Brütal Legend, or Burnout Paradise [and on a side note, literally a couple days ago, I used my 360 to play Burnout 3: Takedown so backwards compatibility is important to me] had they been discounted appropriately. However, I have learned my lesson, years ago, when I kept wanting a SNK XBLA Deal of the Week (that's what Deals with Gold was called in my day) and when I finally got it, I was the only one elated, every other post on the Xbox deals thread were complaints, so I know what I want no one else wants discounted on this thread. Doesn't stop me from desiring the content, but I'd like to think a larger span of genres or content type would improve Deals with Gold to appeal to more people like I with strange tastes.

Time for my prediction for the upcoming date night. I think to bring attention towards a certain pre-sequel which is due for release in the near future, the games and DLC of prior releases may be discounted. It would certainly fit the bill for something I do not want on Deals with Gold for the upcoming date night, so more people would appreciate it. All the negativity aside, I do recognize we do have a rewards program which is more than what Steam offers and there still are great upcoming XBLA games I am hyped about like Pier Solar HD, Mighty No.9, and The Legend of Korra! Oh yeah, I at least appreciate the Games with Gold offerings on Xbox One a lot. Monday Night Rehabilitation will be on soon!

[EDIT: Almost forgot to give thanks to Bloomy for maintaining the OP, and those giving a like towards my previous post ... encouraged me to try this posting on this thread once again ... see what you unleashed =P]

Yea, what the crap for xbox rewards?  Looks like I'm not going to get my monthly stipend of xbox points since the survey is gone.  And since sales have been so bad, I'm not going to get any points from buying anything.  But, It did tell me I got 325 gamerscore last month.  So there's that.

Keep on posting Crono!

I would love a Burnout Paradise sale, as I've mentioned many times. Something other than the usual suspects would be great.

I still haven't got the refund for the XBL Ultimate Game Sale purchases but they credited me the 1150 credits I had before that. I spent 30€ and have like 60k gamerscore so I should get like.. 0.60 €?

I recall a year ago the Xbox Live rewards program gave everyone else $0.25 for their birthday, yet the August babies were the first to receive that cake instead. Fortunately, I was brought into this world on a Microsoft/ePrize blessed month.
Sometimes I feel sorry for the person who came out with the idea of the paper cake. I mean, i'm sure he/she had good will when proposed it, thinking it was cute or something. Not that he/she was being sarcastic sending a fuck message to rewards members. Of course these ain't no kids and we brought the shitstorm to it. But next time we mock of the paper cake, think of that person dealing with a depression all high on anxiolytics, who shakes uncontrollably everytime his/her birthday is near.

Black Flag and South Park: SoT showing as on sale at XBLDB. $29.99 for Black Flag, and $39.99 for South Park. Kind of lame. You'd think those two titles would've hit the $20 mark by now.

Going to have to wait and see what XBLDB puts up for weekly sale tonight, otherwise I'm prolly just gonna' bite on NHL14.  I've been wanting an NHL digital game anyways so I don't have to mess w/ disc anymore.  Man, I just hate disc games now... who has time for that?

It's digital, can't really expect much.

My guess is that those are price drops and not temp sales.

Ack, again my fault for being so awful with English.  Sorry, at least this is better than mobile double/triple posts ^^.  So for clarity [sorry for music choice, thought it's representative of my relationship with Xbox deals]:

Avenger772>  Yeah, the survey I read is now a 2-3 month affair.  I can only hope the reward points for taking a survey increase in a prorated amount due to the infrequency.  It did seem like a survey would be a good tool to gauge Xbox owners' sentiments on potential programs, even as some form of feedback dialog between MS and the end users.  I mean, if not for a whopping $0.25 in the US, I question why my Gold membership still displays all those ads on my dashboard for (sorry, about a month ago, I am unable to block ads on my 360, ad servers seem to have changed).

shivan128>  Sorry, I meant it was my filler content to the high requirement of $60 spent in order to trigger a Binge Watch and Play reward offer.  Between discount MS fun bucks and rewards, it's the closest I can get to a discount on the DLC.  I have been begging for all the DLC to Otomedius Excellent, Rumble Roses XX, and Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate to get a discount for a long while (as I did with the SNK XBLA items at one time).  I just find the combined prices of all the DLC to be many times greater than just the purchase of the base game, and the sad part is that I legitimately want to own all the extra content, but I seriously find the current prices unfairly prohibitive.  Yet, as mentioned, I'm sure if these were to be a part of any Deals with Gold, it would be met with immediate derision on this thread as was the NBA bling.

Darby27>  As soon as I find a cheap and brand new Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Burning Earth, I will actually play it because I unironically like the TV series.  Also, I'm scared off of used games because kids around my area's Gamestops have booger-covered fingers, they are poopoo-heads.  Besides, I am really hyped about the Korra game it doesn't look special, but I just find the concept of Platinum working on a game based on the series ... delicious.  [in fact, Avatar (Ang) S2-ep8 "The Chase", was my choice SD video throwaway $2 for Binge rewards, standalone with great character dynamics and interactions, in a well paced episode arc]

rlm2112>  Yeah, I didn't get Paradise because I had Original's 3:Takedown and 360's Revenge, didn't see the need for Paradise in its day.  Then they gave the movie cars pack (in honor of the Ghostbuster passed away) for free recently, and with the lack of a new title in its series not named Need for Speed I gave the game a better look.  Now, I feel like I really missed out when they did have the DLC on sale.  I had thought I missed out due to its age, but the somewhat recent giveaway shows they've not forgotten and I respect that!  I keep calling for more diverse sale/discount lineups, they are just allergic to my money =(.

shulamm>  Or another possibility, the person is an irredeemable dick.  As I've learned from many post-apocalyptic (robot, zombie, nuclear, cat, etc.) the world will still never be short of assholes, and boy when deals are no good, it sure feels post-apocalyptic in my household (I should start strapping on various pot & pans to myself to get ready for date night).  I can't say for sure, but just keeping the possibility in mind.  =P

Metalepic>  I knew I forgot one when I listed off EA content!  I wouldn't mind some of those costumes Dead Space (1 & 2, I've yet to start 3) has up for DLC at a lower price.  Since MS and EA share the same bed often lately, I would prefer they lube me up properly first ... maybe whisper in my ear ...before trying to take my wallet away in the most painful way.  I want to be a willing partner.  Thus, why I keep trying every date night to make it work.

I realize I forgot another title I am looking forward to, which I am not sure if it is going to be on XBLA, it is part of that ID@Xbox so definately will be on X1: Hyper Light Drifter.   I also hope in time, ID@Xbox can get Freedom Planet over to XBLA too, because my hype for it was so intense I bought it at full price (missed the kickstarter), and I'm willing to get it again on a platform I spend the most time with if they'd only release it here, I kinda fail at being CAG sometimes.

Hope date night turns out well, I'm already ironing up my clothes to get ready ^^.
