This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Dumb plan when people bitched enough about Kinect for two generations to cause the Kinect-less bundle to be a thing in the first place. If you were on the fence enough about the Kinect to opt out, a higher price isn't going to help down the road. Hardware sales generally take a hit on cost to push more available software.
People buy Xbox One without Kinect, hear all their friends using Kinect when talking in a party or game chat, try to add voiceovers to Project Spark, try to add motion capture to Project Spark, and then finally go out and buy $150 Kinect.

I hope NFS Rivals being on sale doesn't hurt chances that it will be added to the vault soon. I'm hoping for by the end of the year. Maybe around the holidays when a bunch of people get X1 and are looking to spend moneys.

Yeah... Damn... Forgot about the possible EA addition to the vault. That would be a better deal at $30 for a year... I'll hold off for Ryse or somethign that I want to play a little more.

I guess, who knows. I'm fairly sure Kinect 2 is doomed to casuals and uninformed parents. People that dedicated to getting creative in Project Spark are going to be few in number, and Kinect as a chat device has never been a selling point in my experience. Catches the whole rooms audio and privacy isn't an option.

Tempted on TMNT OOTS, Ridge Racer Unlimited, and Guardians of Middle Earth...

With GoME, I realize it's a MOBA game - but is there a single-player campaign? I'd be more interested in the game itself with that (yes, I know it's counter-inuitive, but I am not big into MP competetive gameplay).
There is a game mode that allows you to play with real people on your team against the AI - and in any mode, save the one that requires real people on both sides, always starts as 5 on 5, with AI filling any spots necessary. There were many times I played solo with AI, against AI.. Somr achievements require the mode where you play against other players or AI, but if you are careful about the updates you choose yo download, you'd easily only face AI. But you need yo play against teal players for the achievement of hitting each character, as the AI simply won't pick many characters.

If anyone is on the fence about Spec Ops: The Line, my opinion is that it's a really good game and that price makes it even more appealing.  As far as shooters go, it's a little above average, but has a pretty damn good story.  And the walk up at the beginning of the last level is gorgeous.

Isn't it about time for the rampant speculation about next month's Games With Gold titles to begin?  Or have we cooled on that?

There's a power line down behind our house. Happened yesterday and they're saying it probably won't be fixed before Friday night.
Everytime it rains you lose power it seems like. It got really dark out yesterday but we never lost power.

Be glad you don't take 23. I got stuck on it for 4 hours during target flips on monday.

I'll have to pick up NFS for $25.

How's the online community for nfs rivals on Xbox one? Is it still active and is any (or all) of the dlc worth purchasing? Thinking of getting the game for the sale price but think it'll be added to ea access soon so I'm hesitant.

Microsoft should bring out the big guns and give us a couple retail GWG x1 games. Lego marvel and tomb raider.

Major Nelson, make this happen!!!!

Dead Rising 3 would be great, highly unlikely though.  Outlast would be the best bet if that counts as a retail game.

Also where do I find the Walking Dead table.  I purchased it on the SmartGlass app and I didn't see anything install nor was it available in the full game on XB1.

I downloaded Crysis 3, finished the campaign (some of you might remember the problems I had with the disc version), and popped into MP. Mind you, it's 2:30 AM EDT, but I looked at the population for Team Deathmatch, and it's at 77 players over eight matches. Ouch.

Go to the game and press the menu button and then press manage game and it should then show the dlc.

Til November huh? Well that's good to know. When the news came out, I assumed it was effective immediately but if the game is untouched until November, I'm going to look at reviews and consider moving this up to the top of the backlog because I was a bit interested in it when it came out.

Any CAGs put a good amount of playing time into Ascend that can recommend it or not?
I played the game over the span of two months.
I tried to play it each day for about an hour, seeing how much I could accomplish. In the beginning you'll struggle because you're weak and the armor and weapons you have will not last. Also, your magic will seem ineffective. If you play to the end you'll find your magic can grow to be almost too powerful, and your reliance on melee will be so remote that you won't really worry about weapons. Think of it almost like an X-Men Legends styled game, but you're alone, leveling your character as you smash and battle things with little to no plot. Overtime it'll be dull, but if played lightly it can be a fun game, especially as it goes on.

The best advice to offer is to focus your souls (the money of the game) on your magic spells, and to only really focus on magic that is projectiles and chain attacks. There will be magic spells that briefly make you stronger or faster, and while they seem like a great thing to potentially have, they're really useless when you can have projectiles spammed at targets, preventing them from ever getting near you. Each time you Ascend you can switch gods, and you should; you're awarded a new, additional passive ability each time, and each god offers different ones, so variety is good for making your warriors stronger. The initial magic ability you can buy with souls from each god is a projectile attack. You really should get each of these. You can have 5 magic spells available at a time, which is why it's good to have many projectiles spells, so that you can shoot one while another recharges. Over time your spells will get better, stronger, and faster, so that what may seem weak when first unlocked will eventually prove to be very strong later on.

The game offers a sort of online world, where you can see other players ghostly forms as they move through the same areas as you, almost like orbs of other players in a Fable game. If you see a player, and you have a blessing or a curse, you can set it on them. Blessings are what it sounds like, where you send a person something; it could be shields, or speed, or faster magic recharge or even XP bonuses. You cannot bless yourself, and the person you bless has to actually press A on the blessing for them to obtain it, so if you put it too far behind someone they may not go back to get it.

Curses are a bit different. If you curse someone, a cursed objected appears in their world where you stand, and specific enemies begin to come from it. You'll know the enemies as you play the game, and the curse will refer to it as such; example, the wolves curse will summon wolves that attack the other player. If they destroy the object in their world, the curse ceases, if they don't though the enemies keep coming. Don't be surprised if you get cursed back for giving a curse to someone else. Some may even curse you for giving them a blessing. If you want to be really cruel, curse someone at a spot where there are many enemies or sub-bosses. Killing an enemy via cursed foes gets you extra XP I think.

There's more to the game, but I don't want to go on too long. It's a decent length, but unfortunately you'll be nowhere near the level of Transcendence if you play the game until the end. You can still keep playing once you finish it, but it's just disappointing to have to keep grinding with no real value. Also, the dungeons are almost all the same, with the same textures for most of them, same enemy spawns, twists, turns, and treasure locations. This is why I'd say play it briefly each day. Just set a small goal for yourself each time; this time I'll capture this area, or finish this dungeon, or get to this level, or Ascend. It makes it fun to play that way. If you start that now you would have plenty of time to finish the game before November.

If people have questions about the game, I really could be more detailed and let you know a lot more about it, but I don't want to bombard the thread with an ultra long post.

Does anyone even play that game?
I finished it recently and found it to still be very active, but you really don't need others to play it. A.I. invaders are what you'll actually face, not other people, aside from blessings and curses.

F2p that you can't play with friends don't usually do well. Not exactly a bad game, but without friends, there is less motivation to grind through the pay wall (I believe in this game it is a boss that cannot be beaten without paid weapons or it is extremely difficulty.
Fortunately, none of that is true. I played through the whole game and never spent any money on it. I'm not even sure why people would, as you'll find good items as you play through it. I often wondered how, if at all, they made any money off the game. If you haven't played it yet because you're worried about needing to spend any money on it, I can definitely say not to worry about that. Early on it will seem like you might need to, but over time you will figure out how to play and upgrade to fit your style, making the game much simpler.

Thanks for the advice Ebbtide. I'll be starting this up as soon as I finish Metal Gear Rising.

Ebb, you're not kidding about changes. I loaded Reach and it seems like a better game already. I appreciate them having a sprint button and wish they had that in Halo 1 and 2 (and for that matter 3). Speaking of changes, is there a point when Halo games automatically save? When I was playing Halo 2, that hair trigger of an eject button stopped the game and I lost my progress. I miss the days of gaming where the game would pause when something like that happens. In addition, do they ever get rid of those enemies that sound like ewoks?

Thanks for the input. I'm curious to see how these games play in multiplayer mode. I sure could have used it during Halo 2 on Normal mode where I was getting my butt kicked multiple times.
The games do feature checkpoints, and will usually say it during the game to the left of the screen. It'll usually coincide with loading, so it should look like;

Loading....

Checkpoint.

If I recall, you can quit at that point, come back to the game later and hit resume at the campaign, and you should come back to that point with the weapons and ammo you had. Just know that this goes away if you play with other people or if you start another level (the game should alert you that you will lose your previous checkpoints by doing so).

If you have a hard time in Halo: Reach, or ODST, try looking at the skulls. In Halo 3 you have to find the skulls, but in Reach, ODST and 4 the skulls are automatically unlocked. Most skulls make the game harder, but some can make it a bit easier. Grunt Birthday Party Skull is one I like, as you know for sure you scored a headshot on a grunt (the purple-blueish, small enemies); when you score a headshot on a grunt confetti shoots out of their head and children shout with joy - it's weird, but at least you know they're dead. Also, for the similar reasons, I tend to turn on scoring when I play those Halo games to know I've killed an enemy, especially for long range things, where you may not know.

You may already know this, but in the Halo games your AI buddies have infinite ammo. If you have a Rocket Launcher, Spartan Laser or Sniper Rifle that only has one shot left, you might want to give it to an AI partner (Spartans will not swap, but Marines and most ODST will). They will not resupply the weapon with ammo, but they also will not run out of ammo for the weapon either. They can be a liability (Rocket Launcher betrayals!), but the AI also have better accuracy at points, especially if they're in a Warthog in motion. They can hit targets in a moving Warthog much better than human teammates can, so it's a good option to use for levels that may offer that opportunity.
