Just got Bioshock 2. I'm getting Mirerva's Den for the Single Player on sale. Is buying any of the MP DLC worth it? What would you recommend?
Pass on the MP DLC...
While I'm interested in The Baconing, I've yet to start playing Deathspank. Not interested in Thongs, though. Don't like the "warish" theme.
I can understand not being particularly enthused with the setting if you prefer the fantasy parody of the first game, but I would still recommend playing the demo of Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue. The gameplay was quite similar to the first game, but I thought a lot of the humor still worked incredibly well in the second game. Ron Gilbert was still involved with the series at this point. I had lots of fun with it and the "War" battlefield theme setting is only the very beginning of the game... minor spoiler, but Deathspank eventually invades the North Pole!

Pinball FX2 packs on sale? Hellz yeah, I'm gonna take part in that. This should greatly increase my score to earn those avatar awards.

MIGHT get Sega Rally Online & Bejeweled (gotta find something else that's 200. Already got Blitz when it was on sale. Perhaps another FX2 table?).

Looking at The Baconing and the ACB add-on. So that's 1000 of the 3400 points (a little over 3600 if the rewards points come through soon...) I have right now. Clearly I'm going to need to pick up some new points cards soon, especially with the end-of-the-year sale.

Anyone else not seeing the Marvel Pack for Pinball FX2? I can find the trial, but not the full version. & if I click it via the dashboard's advertisement, there's no option to buy it.

Thanks for the feedback. I remember really enjoying Deathspank's style during the demo, and I got the game at some point. If I enjoy the first game enough, I'll definitely look into the second.

Thanks!

Yup. It's... gone. Not listed online, and if you click the ad on the dashboard you get nothing. Hopefully they fix this soon!

Earth Defense isn't bad for a 200 point FX2 table. Didn't really care for Excalibur myself.

As for me, keeping an eye on the Marvel pack. Gonna hold off to see the individual sales, though as I only have like 1190 points (and 200 coming from bing rewards).

Yes! I feel like a winner! Stayed strong in waiting for the core and Marvel packs of Pinball FX2 to go on sale. I know others here are feeling the same thing. It was a long wait, but this sale plus the previously free Paranormal table is making me feel generous and I may now buy the Mars table too.

So far you guys are convincing me to get the Ass Cred Bro DLC before I even buy the game due to it not in any pack-in with disc, but a platinum hits version has yet to be released. What can you tell me about this DLC and its value?

Clearly the prize was the FX2 packs, but I will need quite some convincing to buy Fancy Pants Adventures. I passed up on it before, haven't even downloaded the demo. I have an old Playstaion (1) game called Rakugaki Showtime when the scribble/doodle artstle in a game seemed fresh, but that was way back in the Playstation (1) era; however, now, the doodle artstyle tells me it should be an iDevice or Xbox Indie game and EA is aping that. While I have read the game did start off as some web browser indie Flash game ("Flash game" rarely sounds appealing to me), but I figure maybe it should have tried harder as a paid game. This is my perception of the game before even trying it, but I welcome opinions on the game at 400MSP because this month I have morphed from broke@$$gamer to indebtgamer with all the sales and strong November releases adding to my backlog.

I blind purchased the previous two Deathspank games when they were on sale based upon critic reviews, and they stand as a couple of my largest regret purchases. I think everyone was enamored with the pedigree of a lead designer havin worked on the great Monkey island games of the past, they overlooked the substance of the games. The mechanics feel messy, a lot of running in the circle strafe style, positioning of quest goals may annoy, and the humor is mostly constant bombardment of toilet humor (as if they just keep trying until you laugh, instead of setting up for a laugh). That being said, I already went this far and a sale may tell me to just finish the series. Should I remain strong and not hate myself?

I know I may have sounded bitter with the Ass Cred series, Fancy Pants, and Deathspank series, but I also play games to hold conversations about them. Good and bad titles (to me) share my attention because I have a passion for my hobby.

Back to the sale, the FX2 packs made my week already and they have already blown up most the MS points I had readied for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Yet, that's better than the alternative: having sales with nothing of interest and just having MS pionts sit in my account.

Man, I'm glad they are pulling through with these. It's really nice to see some variety. I'd say that's a good indication that the BF sales will have a little something for everyone.
And at first I was disappointed to see that a lot of the discounts are for games I already own, but that just means there's a chance they'll show up on the BF sale.

I'm also really tempted to bite on the Pinball FX2 tables since I have never bought one. My only problem is that I know I'll enjoy them and just spend loads of points on tables.

I shocked people are buying Super Meat Boy now. It should have been bought the minute it was released.
As "Pops" from the Regular Show would say, "BAD SHOW!" :)

@reddjoey

When you update the thread, you should make a notation about the Pinball FX Classic DLC being the same DLC you receive when you own Pinball FX 1. I know its kinda obvious, but if you obtain it from having Pinball FX 1, it doesn't check it off on the marketplace as owned and so it may catch some impulsive people off guard .

Dunno, I have bought some games at full price and I had felt those games were worth it but I accept other CAGs can wait for a pricepoint more acceptable to them. For example, I was curious with Limbo, It was critically praised on release, yet I did not buy despite recommendatons; later on New Years, it was on sale for 800MSP, yet I still refused because other Summer of Arcade games went from 1200MSP to 600MSP just days before, so I held out again until finally it was on sale for 600MSP. While Limbo was finally at the right pricepoint for me to experiment and play (to at least talk about it), it did NOT end out to be a game I would love =(. Like Limbo for me, maybe other have waited on a better price like this to actually play it.

I did buy Meat Boy on release because it had an early adopter's sale 800MSP then raised to 1200MSP. I really did enjoy the game, and would recommend it but again my taste in games are uncommon. However I have not returned to the game once I finished it (aside from Teh Internets, the only reason one may retun is to top leaderboards, but the times people can get are insane for me).

Also at one time, DotW would discount 1200MSP games to just 800MSP (while 800MSP titles would get a 50% discount). Since the there have been some repeat sales, but those sae 1200MSP games were discounted more. So congrats to those who have waited and will jump on Super Meat Boy at 400MSP.

Oh and aheads up for anyone who likes to 100% games, Bejeweled Blitz Live is pretty easy and can be done in a few days, possibly one or two.

Bejeweled 2 on the other hand, requires an absolutely insane amount of time, effort, skill and luck. I'd avoid it as Blitz has just about everything in it only done better. Well, unless you're intro grabbing a few chivos or are rounding out a purchase so you don't have fractions of dollars.

Yeah, I remember when I first looked at the achievements from Bejeweled. It was an early game, and perhaps they thought achievements should be ungodly hard back then.

What's the likelihood of Summer of Arcade games getting discounted later this week? And do you have to be a Gold member to cash in on these?

Not a XBLA sale but I just noticed RAGE has a demo now. Why the fuck wouldn't you have released that before your game launched and your game sales were crap. I would say too little too late...maybe the $30 price drop will help this week.

I see the Marvel, Core, and Classic tables but not the Diverse pack.

Hey, for those wanting the Marvel Pack for Pinball FX2, if you've got the trials, select one of the Marvel tables (Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, or Blade), then do "Unlock Collection" while on Pinball FX2.

They do the same with the COD games.
They do the same with the COD games.
The main difference being about 19 million less copies sold :)

Making a demo takes time and resources, so many game developer's choose to not use time and resources before a game's launch to make one (read: when they should be working on the game, or more realistically, when they should be deciding what parts of the game to take out to make into DLC).

Bejeweled Blitz was fun, especially for 200 points. Pobably going to end up grabbing The Baconing cause I loved the first Deathspank (and enjoyed what I've played of the 2nd, but for some reason got distracted and haven't finished it). I've gotten over $100 in free Microsoft Points since the beginning of October so I see myself spending a few but I'll probably wait to see what the BF sales offer.

True...but this game took 7 years to make. I love the game (except the end) but the sales have been dismal for a game this high profile. With a new IP like this Id should have done the demo before release and not nearly 2 months after. The only thing that might salvage the game is the sale this week but I am not sure we will be seeing RAGE 2 which is unfortunate.

Just bought Sega Rally Arcade and The Baconing. Waited for the Baconing to come down in price since it supposedly was as good as the previous two games and it didn't include avatar awards.

Thinking about getting some of the Pinball FX tables since I enjoyed the free Paranormal one. Might get Bejewelled 2 since it's only 200 points but I try the trial first.

This worked... I didnt need the demo, it just downloads after you purchase it., thanks!

Fair point, but new IP's and games with long development cycles tend to bomb. Gamer's complain about wanting new stuff but when it comes to actual sales they tend to not buy new IP's and instead buy a new copy of COD and Madden every November.

Just a heads up for people looking at the discounted themes... probably shouldn't be saying this but since I'm in the beta I can confirm that the themes are definitely not as prominent as they are currently. More of it is grayed out and from what I've seen the background elements in the friend list doesn't show up anymore. You can still see it, don't get me wrong, but since the update is coming for all soon I figured that'd be a good warning for some of you.

This fan appreciation sale definitely overlaps with the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, right? I assume so, seeing the dates in the OP but I wanted to make sure so I don't leave myself short on points for these one-day sales.

Picked up the Pinball FX tables, but will probably hold off on the other stuff until we know what the individual sales hold.

Also have my eye on the following:
Sega Soccer Slam
Sega Online Rally
Fancy Pants
Baconing

I see myself probably skipping on the latter two. I blind bought the first two deathspank games when on sale and just got around to playing the first one last night. While ok, it felt like a chore to finish. Fancy Pants is enjoyable from the games I played before, but i don't know if the XBLA version adds anything or not when compared to the flash versions.

Only thing holding me back on Sega Soccer Slam is the fact I already own a disk for it. Would be nice to not have to unpack it though when I get the urge to play it. For Online Rally, do I really need another racing game?

This worked... thanks!
I already have FX2 and the Marvel tables. Is the FX Pinball Original worth buying for $5?
Not really. The FX2 and Marvel packs are leaps and bounds better.

How about the Diverse Pack? Not sure what it includes but would like to try to unlock it the same way possibly after I know what it is. Thanks in advance.
DOTW prices are up. ALso for the many that have homefront is the dlc worth it? I hear all this praise about the multiplayer. Does it live to the hype?
Homefront is quite good, multiplayer is still active , i have fun fun fun with it
Homefront is quite good, multiplayer is still active , i have fun fun fun with it
I have the game but have not played it yet. For $3 it might be worth buying just to increase MP options (if other people ought it I guess).
Just got Bioshock 2. I'm getting Mirerva's Den for the Single Player on sale. Is buying any of the MP DLC worth it? What would you recommend?
I would say pass too, unless you really dig the multiplayer. I played capture the sister for the first week it was out but tried again a few months later and no one was around to play it with.
How about the Diverse Pack? Not sure what it includes but would like to try to unlock it the same way possibly after I know what it is. Thanks in advance.
As I recall, all tables can be bought within the Pinball FX2 game hub. Though I don't see any "Diverse Pack", unless you mean the "Core" & "Classic" packs.

Well I'm glad I picked up a couple 4000 point cards every time Buy.com had them for $30-$40 on ebay. Should come in handy as the sales start to roll in.

So Pinball FX 1, 2, and the Marvel tables are all on sale?

Definitely snagging all the pinball tables as well as:

The Baconing!!!
Sega Rally Online Arcade

The maybe pile:

Stacking (have it free on PSN)
Fancy Pants Adventures (Kinda feel like 400msp should be regular price and 200 should be sale price)
Magic 2012 (Couldn't get into the first one based on the demo so why get the sequel? Still interested though idk why)

Solid sales this week already and BF hasn't hit. Already own Meat Boy (400msp is a great deal for it), as well as Phantasy Star, the Bejeweled games, Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi, and Outrun.

Well I wasted 400 points. I bought the classic FX tables pack and just as I did that I remembered that I had them unlocked because I bought Pinball FX 1.
