So this is the deal of the week we're carrying into the new year, quite inauspicious. I was almost regretting passing up on Full House Poker when it was a Black Friday offer when I realized I wasn't going to spend much on the countdown sales, but tacking on another 80MSP just to affirm Full House Poker's Black Friday deal price seems kind of wrong to me for DotW. That defiant pricing will make it easier for me to pass again, but with no regrets this time.

I think I too will have to add this is not a post due to a sense of entitlement, just saying I think I performed an un-CAG act by purchasing a full year of Gold (an old $30 card, which I do not see as "paid for itself" yet). I can wait for next week.
As mentioned by another, you shouldn't have to worry about being accused of having a sense of "entitlement" here.

This is CAG - Cheap ASS Gamer. All those who want to drop the "Entitlement" bomb can PISS OFF and get off OUR board. This is our sanctuary to be cheap asses and MS are such tight asses when it comes to sales and pricing that they deserve every bit of criticism they get; it is the duty of the consumer to note the discrepancy between what is offered on Live and what is offered on Steam and Amazon. We don't need any sanctimonious shmucks preaching to others about entitlement.

And I say this as someone who defended these sales in this thread.

At least there will be an EA sale too. Maybe that will have good things?

Kudos to Microsoft for putting games like Bastion, ITSP and Rock of Ages on sale for the first time (and within a good time frame)...

...because rehashed sales, like the coming fortnight, make it disheartening to wait another two weeks.

I should look on the bright side. I've barely started Red Dead Redemption GOTY, was given the Gears 3 season pass and have the game on the way from Amazon, and picked up Bastion. All I'd be doing with more good sales is adding to my list of unplayed games.
the family game night DLCs are 50% off, 400 msp each. And they're the ones not on the retail disc-Jenga, Pictureka and Connect 4x4.
no0b question: Are the other games on the other Family Game Night discs?
I'm guessing joey will have this info in the OP by later tonight. I just wanted to get a head start and see if anyone else knows.

wow a repeat dotw. I guess good for people who snagged dc2 for christmas and want new songs. That EA sale, maybe they might put the DS2 Severed DLC (I couldnt wait any longer so I already bought it). Only thing I look foward to is seeing if the 2nd and 3rd deathspank go on sale, even though I barely played the first.

Very interested in the EA sale - hoping it includes price drops for NBA Jam: On Fire (would sell like mad with the NBA season starting up) and Burnout Crash.

Also, if Marathon Pack 1 is the same as the one earlier this year, I'd probably bite. 10 good songs and 5 decent ones for $17...not bad.

I'll drop them entitlement bombs all day every day.

Why? You got it wrong in your post. MS aren't being "tight asses" with these sales. They're putting a ton of stuff on sale. Do people forget how things used to be? Hell, does anyone remember when we used to go weeks without even getting an arcade game?

"But derr game I want aint on sale! Boo MS you gready hores! booooO!" Right? Go create a blog and complain about it.

Uhh, FGN Fun Pack games are all disc only.

FGN1 is the one that is disc and DLC. The ones that are DLC only and NOT on the FGN1 disc are Connect 4x4, Jenga, and Pictureka. I got them last time they were on sale (last year) and finally completed the game with 1850/1850.

Edit: @drawingboard.
FGN Fun Pack, FGN 3, and FGN 4 all have a separate achievement lists from FGN1. They might share some of the same games but they are completely different discs.

To sum it up, if you buy the FGN1 disc, the only games you'll be missing from the achievement list are the 3 games I mentioned.

Krome is no longer supporting Full House Poker (or Game Room). Microsoft's engineers weren't able to fix Texas Heat, despite it being based on 1 vs 100's architecture. The MMO component remains broken, as do large tournaments with friends. It is also not that unusual to be dropped from standard online games.

Also, achievement whores should steer clear. Like 1 vs 100, there were seasonal achievements to Texas Heat that can no longer be earned. Speaking of which, there was no fall season, and there has been no announcement if there will be a winter season.

However, Full House Poker is worth $6 if you enjoy avatar games and do not have a Texas hold'em title on the 360.

People like you make me never want to post here. I've been reading this forum since 2003, well before the switch to vBulletin. There have always been jerks, scammers, and deviants, but at least the threads weren't filled with whiny children letting us all know why they were passing on a deal (who cares). At worst, a few people would be upset about missing out due to resellers.

The web changed with the rise of social media. Too many users feel they have a right to complain when things don't go their way. Unfortunately, most of these people are idiots who should never have been given a voice in the first place.

Microsoft has always been greedy. If you don't like their pricing policies, stop buying products they publish. Bitching here isn't going to change anything, especially when you're just upset that the deals didn't suit your fancy. It's useless, cathartic noise. Type it into a blank document and close the window. Unless you're willing to post a useful comment about what's on sale, kindly shut up.

It's interesting you mentioned Steam. Originally, the deal of the week would feature one 2+ year old game or a map pack for 25-33% off. Microsoft started offering multiple weekly deals in 2009 because of Steam's holiday sales. Deals of the Week are much more generous than they used to be. This year, the premium titles are available for two weeks instead of 24 hours. I wonder how this thread would have turned out if it had been the other way around.

Good response Sean.

I have not purchased any of the daily deals except Bastion. I was close w/ MK pass, but decided against it only because the ultimate MK disc will be out in a few months. The rest of the content on sale the past few days I will never use, but that being said there are thousands of other gamers who will use and enjoy the daily deals this year. So to complain about what is on sale because you don't want to buy said item is just being silly and perhaps selfish?

The only time I feel inclined to 'bitch' is when a game/dlc/etc is on sale multiple times while 100's of other titles have never been on sale for DOTW. On topic w/ this weeks DOTW is good and the weekly sale on TOP of the daily deals is fantastic!

Like Sean stated, there used to be zero weekly deals/discounted items, and when the deals started they were not even close to what we have today. MS started the DOTW, Sony followed suit, and I am still waiting for Nintendo's weekly deals. ;)

Thank you MS, game publishers, developers, and CAGS- and Happy New year!

Another pass for me both this weeks DOTW and next, and today's countdown deal (bought both Reach map packs on release). Hopefully the EA sales will have some good stuff in it but I'm not holding out for much. :(

Microsoft had the nerve to call Daggerdale one of the best XBLA titles of 2011. Sales could not help it, so I guess they have resorted to just lying to get some profit on it.

Seems I'm going to pass on Halo Reach DLC...I'd rather just limit my multiplayer downloads to games I like playing multiplayer. How often does it go on sale if I should change my mind in the future?
Buying Gold is un-CAG-like? Lots of us have Xbox Live Gold accounts, dude... Probably the majority of people in this thread, in fact.
He's probably used to PSN being free. Most of the time, Plus is not even worth it.

I'm hoping for Crysis to be discounted on the EA sale. Apart from that, nothing for me in the first two weeks of 2012, but it's cool, got plenty of good stuff to work my way through.

Still interested in Sonic 4 finally making its way down to 400MSP and for a discounted Gears 3 season pass in the run to New Year.

I would be all over Crysis if it is included. Here's hoping.

Dragon Age 1 dlc is also EA right? I would like to pick some of those up as well. I know they have been on sale numerous times but i only just recently played the game.

Hrm so what can we expect from this EA sale? Some Mass Effect DLC, and Dragon Age DLC. Does EA have any stand alone arcade titles that are worth picking up?

is the halo reach defiant pack worth buying at 400? i don't think i've gotten much use out of the noble pack since i bought it... hell i dont think i've played on those maps at all yet? do either of them include new firefight maps?

Well, we almost had a full week where people weren't bitching about sales and then other people weren't bitching about those people. The holidays are now complete!!

That said, I'll have to check out the DC tracks coming up next week. That EA sale, I'm not getting my hopes up. NBA Jam(if it shows up discounted) will prolly be 33% off for 800 msp. It's better if I don't get my hopes up...it'll prolly be a bunch of nba and fifa avatar gear lol

Cool, thanks. Looks like I'll likely have to grab those 3 games then.

I've pretty much given up on anything I want being on sale the next two weeks, so I went on a shopping spree and bought the xbla games I want at full price. Now I don't have to keep waiting/praying for sales. I am Microsoft's deals-slave no more...........for now. :)

An NBA Jam deal would be cool. Has there been any news regarding roster updates?I haven't seen any mention of it since the game first came out.Would have bought it by now if i knew the updates were legit

You do what you want champ, this is still CAG and though I may not agree with the complaining on these particular sales, they certainly don't have a sense of entitlement and anyone who says otherwise is still a shmuck. ;)

So go ahead fellow Cheap Asses, VENT your hearts out and ignore people like this guy who think if they keep quiet and sit still, good things will eventually come to them. :booty:

Defiant includes a firefight map, which I think is the best in the game, similar to outpost in ODST I think is what its name was. The MP maps are decent, but no one plays on them anymore, as for them to come up, everyone has to have that dlc. So you are basically going to pay for the firefight map. It depends on how much you play firefight i guess.

Yea I play firefight more than anything else for the most part, so looks like I might grab it. do I have to get anniversary maps too just to play the maps from the other two packs?

Good, then stop posting here. I registered in 2007 and have been lurking since 2005, CAG has ALWAYS been a place where "deals" are picked apart and criticized and I am absolutely thankful for it because it forced me to see how much a steal a true CAG approved deal can be. Complaining has always been a huge part of CAG, it is the lecturing that is relatively new.

I wonder why MS started offering regular deals of the week? Was it because of the people demanding them or because of those lecturing them to shut up?

MS started offering deals because people want deals. Just because they're the games you own/don't want doesn't make them less of deals.

It's cheap ass gamer. Not cheap entitled to whatever I want gamer. Although CETWIWG has a nice ring to it.

MS started offering deals because people demanded deals. I disagree that these haven't been decent deals but I disagree with sanctimonious lectures more.

As long as CAG is a haven for the cheapest, assiest gamers who are ridiculously hard to please, then it will always be a great place for the most ridiculously cheap deals.

And the louder they squeak, the more often MS will listen.

Every deal thread has CAGs who express their disappointment if the deal isn't good enough for them. I don't see what's so awful about that.

"Entitled" has become another overused Internet buzzword like "fanboy" was five years ago. Any complaint ever made about MS, Sony or Nintendo was hammered with "you're a fanboy!" Now any complaint or gripe about a deal is met with "you're acting entitled!"

Getting people to stop complaining on the Internet is as pointless as trying to get people to stop being pompous windbags on the Internet who feel the need to get on a soapbox and lecture.

Oh wait. Ironic post is ironic.

It is simple for me. We allow people to wish/rant/complain about physical media sales so I have no problem with the same thing for digital media sales. Why is it ok to rip Gamestop most of the time for their new game prices and lack of new game sales but suddenly people are "entitled" when they want a digital product to go on sale. Imagine if Skyrim, MW3, Batman, etc NEVER went on sale and was always $60. Do you think people on this site would not be screaming from the top of a mountain about it? The solution of just not buying the item does not work. There is DLC for games like Army of Two that have never seen a sale. A sale would definitely help games like this but for whatever reason MS has decided to keep many of their prices stagnant. Maybe complaining on THIS site won't change it so we can debate those merits but the idea of shut up and take what your given is a BS attitude.
no0b question: Are the other games on the other Family Game Night discs?
I'm guessing joey will have this info in the OP by later tonight. I just wanted to get a head start and see if anyone else knows.
I have that info in the FAQ.

EDIT: Looks like I only have FGN 1 in the FAQ. I'm glad someone else got you the right answer and looks like I get to update the FAQ to.

Sorry guys, I stayed up way too late finishing SR3 and I just woke up. After I walk the dog and shower, I'll update the OP.

How about a consumer who thinks having the same price for content six years ago when everything else is cheaper is stupid? I'm not paying the same money for a 2001 Camry as for a 2012.

Was really hoping the Dance Central sale would include the recently released Gaga pack too. Oh well, still got enough Dance Central 2 songs to learn in anycase.

Sometimes I wish Major Nelson would just kick me in the balls, it would be a less painful experience than reading his blog posts.
An NBA Jam deal would be cool. Has there been any news regarding roster updates?I haven't seen any mention of it since the game first came out.Would have bought it by now if i knew the updates were legit
no news, honestly all I want are the rookies added in they should have built them when the game was in production and added them as soon as the lockout ended...but oh well. If they did a roster update, I'm assuming it'd be a one time thing, so personally I'd prefer that they waited for the trade deadline (probably in 2 months or so) so that way it wouldn't just be needing another update in a few weeks which EA likely wouldn't do....although with 'download content' available on jam I wouldn't be surprised if they charged $5 or something for a roster update, but that's all speculation, you don't need 100% current rosters to enjoy jam, it's still fun. In 2vs2 online mode that is, playing with any computer AI on the court is a joke and totally not fun imo. But I hope it's on sale to influx some new people to the community, it gets old playing pros running around with the Cover Kings because once you get amazing at the game it's just a 3 point shootout and isn't really fun, it's best when people just play it in a fun way, not 'pick chris paul/swipeswipeswipe steal/ 3 pointer' which is what all the pro games online are. but regardless it was def worth $15 and would be a no brainer for cheaper

I wanted deathspank before but I learned the coop partner is really gimped and can't choose upgrades and such, so boo to games that do that. on an unrelated note i'd be amazed if sonic cd went on sale so soon after release. but i think i'll pick up sonic 2 solely to have a multiplayer match once in a while with a friend if its $3 or less. sonic 4 though won't ever get a purchase from me with those abysmal physics.

Can someone sell me on the gears season pass? I mostly play horde/multiplayer with friends, i haven't even gone through campaign yet. and considering i only spent $30 on the game, it kinda baffles me that the extra content would be worth >$20 or whatever the sale price is gonna be. is it just for the hardcore fan or did it significantly add to the fun you have with it?

/rant
I too defended the countdown daily deals in an earlier post, I just found the DotW on my dashboard too, and just threw in my thoughts on why Full House Poker couldn't be 400MSP instead of this week's 480MSP. I did not intend on instigating a debate. I use this forum mainly to find deals and maybe gain insight onto the value/worth of something on the Live Marketplaces. Sure, I can type onto notepad and close it, but sometimes I am looking for some feedback.

He's probably used to PSN being free. Most of the time, Plus is not even worth it.
Heh, I was amused by Daggerdale being part of the best of 2011, if the reports of the bugs/glitches/lack of support are true. I thought "was my 2011 on Xbox that bad such that a glitchy game is the best?" =P

Actually what I meant about being un-CAG about me buying Gold was how I am losing some value with my membership continually waiting on sales. I don't have much in the way of co-op partners, so my primary reason for the Gold membership are the Deals of the Week. That is why I hope the deals help me cover the cost of Gold and justify the purchase. I do not require nor do I expect every/many deals to appeal to me, I can wait out some weeks. Knowing the year end countdown, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday deals are open to all, I judge the value of the membership, to me, on DotWand Family Deals. It is how the subscription works with the purchase in contiguous months when I bought the year card, so I just hold out hope enough deals appeal to me within that timeframe. I am not judging Gold base on other formats of services like Steam, nor PSN, nor Nintendo's e-shop ... just on the strength of the Gold membership alone for my situation.
It's been a while since I played Reach.

I don't think I want to spend anymore (Got Bastion at half price). Are one or both map packs worth it?
Unless you like achievements you'll pretty much get no use out of them.
