• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I read through it, and one interesting thing they mentioned was that developers duplicate data in the game to improve seek times for traditional drives, something that wouldn't be a factor with SSD and could lead to smaller installs. Though that doesn't take into account fragmenting, where data could still be scattered around the disk.

I meant fragmentation defeats the purpose of duplicating game data to improve seek times on non-SSD drives. For optical media, it makes some sense, because the data is always going to be in the same location on the media. But when dealing with non-SSD drives, fragmentation can have data scattered around the disk, meaning the drive heads will have to take a little time to move around. Since the current gen required the game data to be installed to the hard drive, then there's little sense in having duplicated data, unless the console's system software was constantly defragging and reorganizing the HDD to keep related data closer together. Download sizes should have also been smaller, because even if the installed game had data duplicated to improve seek times, some parts should've only been downloaded once and been written to multiple spots on the HDD. Maybe it does do that, I never tracked how much was downloaded for a game compared to what the final install size was.

I would prefer the S personally. I like the smaller size and clean look. I don't have a dedicated gaming space so it is more practical to go with the X for the BD drive. I have a large disc collection of all 3 generations too but that's really not what's holding me back. I'd set the S up with a nice monitor at a desk but I'm just not set up for that atm.

Spent most of this weekend playing Gears 5 horde since it's been awhile and I gotta ask, is it possible to do levels past beginner without Jack on your team? How often do you discuss marital finances with other couples? In my experience never. It's easier to share with people online because we have no idea who each other is. Married people don't regularly share their financial situations and arrangements with their friends. I'm sure you've met several married couples that have separate accounts and have no idea. I've never once shared with family or close friends how my wife and I have our accounts setup.

I have two kids with another on the way. Separate accounts have never been an issue. Wife pays for some things, and I pay for others. It's really not that complicated. A lot of things seem impossible to people that have never done them.

I really feel like we would be better off if we were more honest with each other about where we all stand, rather than hiding it.

It's a line of credit with 0% interest, the balance is preloaded on that account. Unless I'm just failing at stacking rewards, you can't pay one credit card with another outside of balance transfers. At least every CC I have only accepts checking/debit card info for payments.

I'm just going off the wording in the All-Access FAQ and what I could make sense of in the legalese of the T&C. They call it a line of credit, which sounded to me like they pay the upfront total to M$ and then bill you monthly at 0% interest. I could totally be wrong tho, I've never done anything like rent to own so I dunno the details. Pretty sure my car loan was a line of credit, with that I can see the total amount owed and I make monthly payments which deduct from it.

Anyone tried the All-Access route for X1S that can share some filthy deets on how it works? We're apparently sharing couples financing advice/experiences now, so don't hold anything back.

I mentioned it, so I'm obliged to state that I've never had a joint account. My two longest relationships each lasted 5 years, but it seemed to work fine roughly splitting bills. Occassionally there would be arguements about money, but I assume they would have come up with a shared account as well. So what's the first game everyone is going to play on their next gen Xbox?
I'm still not sure if I'm gonna get it but if I don't it will be solely because I bought a download of Cyberpunk for xbox and I really want to play that on my OLED. I'm debating that and buying a new graphics card and playing on my PC. I prefer playing games on my sofa but lately I've been trying to play more games on PC.

Maybe Blinx: The Time Sweeper. I wonder how much of a difference the Xbox Series X will actually make upscaling it to 4k with 120fps and HDR. Because, on my Xbox One X it just looks like it did on the original Xbox.

All 4k with 120 fps games are only if you have a TV with HDMI 2.1, am I correct?

Most are just better versions of current gen games. There are a few that launch same day.

I keep seeing places say The Medium and Scorn are launch, but no real release date news on those yet.

Pretty sure Yakuza and Tetris Effect are launching in Game Pass also. Only reason I mention is because i see EliteWillie saying he's going to buy it day 1.

I am not sure. But, my mom does have one of those, and I might buy myself my first TV if there are any good Black Friday sales.

I've not seen anywhere say Yakuza is coming to Gamepass day 1. Pretty sure it's not

Microsoft has only specifically said that every first party game is coming to GamePass day one on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. They haven't said anything about third party games like Yakuza 7 that is also coming to the PS4 and PS5 on launch day. It would be a nice surprise though if we got it. Has any SEGA game ever been on GamePass before?
