Welcome to the Xbox Deals and Discussion thread.

General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Game Pass potential departure dates

Last updated - 2024-06-01
What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

If you have any questions about the list, please ask in the thread.

To counter that, I submitted a receipt almost three weeks ago that was rejected for seemingly no reason. I resubmitted it but was told that I couldn't because it was duplicate submission. I contacted support and was told that they would accept it and send me the code. Two weeks later I still have nothing.
Sorry, dude. I made sure that my Kellogg's items were the first items that I scanned when going through the self-checkout lane just so they would appear at the top of the receipt. Not sure why they didn't accept yours, but maybe you can try it again?

That's what I figure, if they allow the X/S patched game to be playable from an external drive, then the enhancements work from that without the speed of the internal drive. These are my current X/S enhanced games that do not require to be installed on the internal drive. I think you are correct since all of them have the XboxOneGen9Aware tag in the file info:

CyberPunk 2077 (Gen:Durango ConsoleType:XboxOneGen9Aware)

Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Gen:Durango ConsoleType:XboxOneGen9Aware)

Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Gen:Durango ConsoleType:XboxOneGen9Aware)

Rocket League (Gen:Durango ConsoleType:XboxOneGen9Aware)

Sea of Thieves (Gen:Durango ConsoleType:XboxOneGen9Aware)

State of Decay 2 (Gen:Durango ConsoleType:XboxOneGen9Aware)
Is there a list of these available somewhere? I'm playing with the games I have installed and I can confirm the following seem to work off of the external drive. One way to test it seemingly is to try copying the game from the internal storage to an external. If no warning comes up that the game will be unplayable, then it seems it'll work.

So Far:

Vermintide 2

Sea of Thieves

Star Wars Squadrons

R6 Siege will allow you to move the addons

For Honor isn't marked as XSX enhanced but apparently the patch this week enabled 60fps mode on Series X.

Everything else I own requires both the game and add-ons to be installed on the SSD storage.

Man, people sure love to hate on bad releases. This reminds me of Anthem, when people were clamoring in here about how bad it was when they were just going off memes. Don't get me wrong, Anthem had all kinds of issues, but it wasn't unplayable. CP2077 is 100,000x better than Anthem at launch, yet here people are memeing it up about how it's the worst piece of software ever released. WB didn't apologize for Shadows of Mordor running like garbage on 360, and I sure as hell couldn't have gotten a refund after the hours I put in before I got frustrated with it (not that digital refunds were even a thing in them days).
Reminds me of the 360 version of Dragon Age Inquisition. Textures take so long to load that a whole cutscene will be over before any of the characters' faces loaded in.

I feel like with all of these gamer controversies du jour, it's like a 50/50 mix between people who have their own opinion and lookie-loos just getting angry for fun.

Pretty sure it's 2020 folks. I'm sitting here, life shat out by the love of my life, living on my best friend's couch, just happy I had enough to get CP2077 and a TV to play it on.

I know full well there's people out there far worse than me tho so I'm pretty much sitting here one much minute pissed af, crying in my hands another and thankful the next I can even play this game period. Maybe it's being left right before Christmas but I guess I can't get into the usual gamer hate right now

Damn dude, sorry to hear that. Hope things turn up for you next year.

I never understand hating on a game to the level that people do, but I understand it far less this year with everything going on. Plus, it's the holidays, be thankful for what you have and realize how privileged you are that the worst thing you have going on is a game you wanted to like turned out to not be up to your expectations.

Nope, people should express how they feel. The world is always shitty and someone will always downplay what you do or say (I'm this way with the relationship/divorce talk in this thread but that's because I can't relate to it).

Personally, I'm loving Cyperpunk on Series X but if I had to play this on a VCR Xbox or something else.......I'd probably be up in arms about it's performance issues and wouldn't nearly get the same amount of enjoyment out of it.

Sony and Microsoft make use of a strange US law that says "If you start the download of a digital product, the purchase is finished".

They obviously do not want this to get in courts or get class action lawsuits because this law obviously is completely ridiculous.

But I think alot of people actually have a wrong impression of how customer service works. Some agents will like deny every refund because they think it ups their standing at Microsoft. Or they can deny a refund because they are having a bad day. Or because like every human they are subjective to having their own opinions.

Thats why its working so well for people on PlayStation to just chat with a couple of different agents. Some got the refund after a couple of tries. Same for xbox (dont even bother replying to a refund denied email. The agent will NEVER admit he made a wrong choice. Just make a new ticket!). Tho xbox generally was very nice with refunds since Watch Dogs Legion from my experience.

I also dont see why having played something for 2 or 30 hours you cannot refund it. Like on PS5 the latest Cyberpunk patch made the game crash. So this classifies as a broken product even if the definition isnt clear. So would this allow or a refund or not ? What does time played have to do with it? There is no way to roll back a patch on console.

Watch Dogs Legion was advertised as getting an online mode on begin of december so if you played it 50 hours before that but were really waiting for an online mode and it was delayed. Should you be able to get a refund?

By the time the online mode is out it will probably be like $30 with season pass. So telling customers "just wait for the update" is a little funny. You didnt pay $60 to rent the game for a couple of hours. If your washing machine breaks after 2 months you also get help right even if you used it every day.

Now of course they will usually fix the game so there is a point in denying refunds even if something is broken. Law basically anywhere in world says the seller/producer will have some time to repair/fix.

But I was so annoyed at xbox support at one point (they denied a refund where there store says I do not own it. I only was able to download it when I bought it automatically, and never able to run it. Its a BC game. I tried all troubleshooting, and even deleted it. But now the store just says I dont own it so I cant even redownload it. They completely denied any refund or looking into it.). So I was mad I started refunding everything that had the tiniest little issue. I CAN see how one reason they will deny refunds is because people will just ask for more and more refunds. And its videogames, very few videogames have no issues.

But their actions is very simple they will just deny most refunds even if its a broken $5.99 game you cannot run and refund you a $99 one easily if you are lucky.....

On the other hand, if somebody gets a refund for Cyberpunk what does it matter for Xbox & Sony? They can just automate the processes even and have no costs and the customer will be happy and just buy something else. (Well, they will have costs for refunding people to their external payment options. But usually they bill the game publisher this fee).

The "random feel" about refunds is what actually makes me think twice of spending money on new games especially day1 since $60 is basically never worth it anyways since very few games keep their price this high for months.

So I agree people are to blame partly too for having no patience even preordering digital games which serves no purpose at all, they wont run out lol.

Now if I knew I can play a game for 2, or 5 hours and always get a guaranteed refund if I dont like it, I definitely would be buying alot more and I think in total it would significally make them more money in the long run. But maybe not? It was found demos bring in less sales and trailers bring in more sales. So of course they now sell all games with trailers and theres barely ever demos.

But see fenyx rising by Ubisoft? It looks like such an interesting games if you ever enjoyed a Zelda game. But theres no way I am spending $60 on it to try it out... because I cant know if i enjoy it and I am not going to get into fights with their random customer support anymore. I just buy less unless its on a good sale :)

Really like the steam policy of 2 hours, there you know what you are getting and the rules are clearly layed out.

Alot of people are enjoying it on base ps4 and xbox one s. Including me. When I remember Watch Dogs on last gen (ps3/360) it was really bad. Cyberpunk in comparison is insanely amazing even on base consoles. They even started a huge sub on reddit just for those who enjoy the game its grown extremely fast to like 1 million subs. This elite behaviour "look i have a gaming pc, i would never play it on console." Or "look I play it on series x I could never play it on xbox one s" is actually ridiculous. Its the same game and it doesnt run that bad if you turn some stuff off as HUD (which makes most games nicer) and subtitles.

Most who complain about Cyberpunk I bet they havent even played it (OR havent seen much of it), they havent had a comparison of different platforms, and just like to rant about something online to forget about 2020 lol

This is exactly what's wrong with the world today (one of many things). People have no filter - especially on the internet - and feel free to say whatever. The reality is that people just need to shut up sometimes and keep it to themselves.

Even though I'm enjoying the game, I definitely understand why people are upset, especially with the hype through the roof like it was. The level of issues I have is still on par with a (non-76) Fallout game on launch.

I think something that helped me avoid negativity was the fact that I basically filtered the game out entirely once leaks started happening. I'm aware of the general vibes but haven't been in deep discussions about the details like I often am.

A friend of mine invited me onto his stream tonight to discuss the game so maybe my outlook will change some, but I've been able to play way more due to this 3 days off.

Glad to hear it's doing something good for you Logan, last time I had a major break up was when MGSV came out, and it sort of tanked my enjoyment of a flawed game I think I'd enjoy more under normal circumstances.

Alright, I'll bite. What is even the point of this? Alot of people are enjoying it on base ps4 and xbox one and alot aren't. I know, because they are very vocal about it! My social media feed is flooded with their complaints about it.

Is one set of experiences supposed to be valued more because it's more popular or 'positive'?

Thanks. I'm seeing the flaws on my X1X but between this and my bff\god daughter telling me it'll be ok, I just don't know. People can be upset at their disappointment, I'm just happy that I have it right now and just tired of the damn negativity but even saying this seems to be ruffling feathers lately

The haters just often make it seem as if everyone hates the game. And then they get supermad and try to shut everyone up who enjoys it like millions of people do. Your social media feed obviously will show you the content you want to reconfirm your bias and to keep you hooked, so thats why you get negative content on Cyberpunk. They know exactly what content you prefer lol

I am also beyond the point of 30 hours where alot of games (Watch Dogs, Valhalla) get kinda stale/boring and Cyberpunk just keeps getting better even on xbox one s...

Some story mission I just did was a bit rough with framerate really tanking but for the most part it does run suprisingly well, they did an amazing job. Really enjoying the gameworld and the side content and all the different ways you can play it. Also the 911 is amazing. With some stuff I am not even sure if its a bug or a feature, like in some areas you will see a shit ton of cars in the distance but the game never gets them coming close to you. You dont really see them despawn or anything. Makes this while utopia setting actually kinda more realistic to have areas like in desert with a massive highway and huge amazing city in background but pretty much deserted and abandoned. So could complain about cars despawning or just enjoy the setting? :)

Yes, of course people should express themselves and feel free to do it, but they should have a filter for how they do it. 20 years ago you would watch a football game and in a moment of passion yell out that a player sucks, etc. Now people will say it directly to them on the internet because it's easy. Or people will spill their feelings and actions to millions of strangers because it's easy and gives instant validation. Very few take time to reflect on things because the expression of their emotions can be satisfied with the internet and social media. And it's too easy to jump on a bandwagon of negativity to perpetuate those feelings or validate someone else's rashness. People do not think and act rationally when their emotions are involved and need to put things in perspective based on a larger experience.

Think of it this way, you had the love of a woman for what was it, 28 years? I haven't had more than a week of that and I'm old enough to have owned a Sega Master System. You'll be fine.

Exactly but thats mainly a problem of social media and old media. They divide people for clicks and attention. Even here the "like" feature, alot of people will even unconsciously make posts to get a dopamine reward from a like and post stuff thinking people will "like" it not because its what they are actually thinking. It would be a much better discussion if everyone actually appreciated different opinions instead of starting to call each other names.

Thats pretty sad even if you seem to be fine. Have you ever took breaks from gaming for longer periods of time (and not replaced it with other media addictions)? I always had some of the best months/years of my life when I took breaks from gaming. Tho sometimes escapism is pretty nice also.

The fact that you said that means you have zero clue. Zero. I'm not fucking fine. I won't be fine just cuz you are. My teenage sweetheart just went thru a damn meltdown after not grieving from the death of her father and tanked our 26 year marriage while I quarantined away from her. It's Christmas, I'm living penniless on my best friends couch trying not to ruin their holiday and wondering if the love of my life is going to be ok. No I'm not going to be fine. Jfc

Edit: I know ott, sorry I'm done

Yeah, overall I don't know what's going on with the general discord over 2077, it's definitely stronger than I would expect even with the hype. Seems like a sort of opposite force to the TLOU2 shitshow. I think it's partially some sort of CDPR defense force due to their good history thinking they can do no wrong, combined with a bunch of shitheads that came around (or revealed themselves) due to the "politics" issues about the transgender stuff. Way more than just people upset over the bugs and performance.

sorry I'm done
He was just trying to be nice. He was right tho. You should appreciate what youve had instead of complaining what is gone. Escapism, alcohol, gaming, probably is something you should stay away from. Write down your thoughts or see a therapist to help. Find some creative outlet, a book or sport/fitness to clear your head.

I 1000/1000'ed Far Cry 3 on 360 and never thought anything was wrong with its performance. We had different standards back then. :)

Not to mention all those N64 games that ran at 15 fps and everyone loved them anyway.
He linked the old far cry 3 analysis and it looks like it was worse on ps3, but the cutscenes went down to 15fps and gameplay in the low 20's with constant screen tearing the whole game.

you're right about the different standards back then.

My thoughts on the cyberpunk discussion if anyone cares ;)

I don't get excited by new game releases anymore. Especially ones that are hyped as much as Cyberpunk has been. I am content to wait for a sale with the dlc included hopefully. I do love certain franchises and buy them (Borderlands, Diablo, Civilization) on or shortly after release. I have a busy life and gaming time gets rarer every day for me.

Having said that I can see people being upset if the game does not work on their console.   Console games should work period. No excuse for Cyberpunk not working on base PS4/XBox One since it was released for those systems.

This is really ignorant and you should refrain from giving out advice on something you clearly have no experience in.

Switching gears, there’s a promo for Google Pay if you spend $50 or more at Target, you get $21 back. You can combine it with the current B1G1 15% off gaming cards. I just bought two $25 and two $15 Xbox cards for $74.

So after the $21 back, it will be $53 for $80 worth of Xbox cards.

(Note that PSN and Nintendo cards don’t seem to work with the offer).

Should see the offer in the Google Pay app. Just need to activate it and pay with the card you have linked to it.

I am simply trying to point out the positives to him. I look at things differently I guess. He could be out on the street in the cold with nothing and no friends. He has a place to sleep and friends and a TV and a gaming system etc. I look at the positives in life and he has things going for him others would kill for. I stand by what I posted.

I think he was just applying this to a real life situation:

“Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

― Alfred Lord Tennyson
Only people that haven’t loved ever find comfort in that quote.

I’ve been married to my wife for 17 years. I would be lost if she left me and it would take a considerable amount of time to get over here. When you spend that much time with someone they become a part of you.

What that person wrote was out of touch and insensitive, even if he didn’t mean anything wrong by it.

Sounds like he’s had a sad life and misery loves company.

Lol! Not even. Would you rather me State your life is over Dude? Something else negative like what a loser you are if someone left you? Why are people so sensitive here? Of course I meant nothing by it. I was trying to cheer him up. I have not lead a miserable life at all. Sure, I've never been in a relationship before but I have plenty of friends and family. Marriage is a Gamble. You know that going in. Relationships are a gamble. Nothing is guaranteed. Time Heals all wounds. Right now he's hurting but with time, he will get better. If he wants to be miserable for the rest of his life over this, then okay. Again, I'm trying to be positive. Looks like being positive here is not the right thing to do.

I don't think it's fair to assume a lot of meaning behind one sentence without knowing the people personally. Some people are not as sensitive about things in general or how they communicate support to others. He could be a total jerk or could be someone trying to say something supportive that didn't get across well.

Also, of course there's usefulness to the Tennyson quote. Maybe it's not useful when things are still raw, but there's a lot of truth in it.

Forget what I said earlier about contacting different agents at Xbox for refunds, I just got suspended for "marketplace theft". I heard stories about it but didnt think it was actually happening. Wrong

Anyone know if I will lose all my games? The site says nothing about removing my games or my store credit.

It just says:

Party privilege has been suspended

Payment instrument adjustment privilege has been suspended

MSA account adjustment privilege has been suspended

Voice and text communication privileges have been suspended

Multiplayer privilege has been suspended
Does this mean I can still spend the money in my xbox account? Can I still play my games when I go online with the xbox again? Or will the xbox greet me with a "BANHAMMER!!" message and I cant do anything?!

I can agree with this. Messages are often missed when typed. Fair enough.
