• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Hotshot Racing actually looks pretty fun. Will be checking that out today.

So, in one or two ways the Xbox One X is more powerful than the Series S. I can see why Microsoft chose to discontinue it. Why buy a Series S when you can buy a One X that not only plays games in 4K (some at 60fps) but also does 4K Blu Rays.

I think they discontinued it because they are worried people will see those specs and think the same thing. Everything I'm hearing says those specs don't mean much compared to the architecture. So the Series S should outperform the X1X. But who knows until Digital Foundry gets their hands on these systems.

Trying to justify getting the Series X the day that it comes out, when I only got the Xbox One X less than a year ago.

You can't count playing a port as backward compatibility and the original playstation was $299. Lots of consoles can use other consoles controllers with adapters. Most of the time you are just wrong. Accept that.

You mean "rent" those free games? I mean I just got a Switch for my birthday, humble brag, but even my ass knows I'm renting those games. I don't own them. That is far different from the value I get with XBL or Game Pass before you even snark back. I get to keep my 360 games and with Game Pass I earn my points to cash in towards space bucks.

I think they discontinued it because they are worried people will see those specs and think the same thing. Everything I'm hearing says those specs don't mean much compared to the architecture. So the Series S should outperform the X1X. But who knows until Digital Foundry gets their hands on these systems.

I still think the discontinue was why have 5 Sku's on a shelf? I agree, I don't think the just Tflop number is a be all end all with new CPU and GPU architecture. Look at a couple weeks ago with Nvidia and the new cards. The jump from 1080 to 2080 wasn't that big even though it launched at a similar price as the 3080 which at least in the "very controlled" Digital Foundry video was already up to an 80% boost in performance. The AMD show next month will be interesting because that's the tech these will be using.

First of all, no one should be willing to paint Nintendo as a value choice in virtually any comparison contest. The reference gamegirlpocket is making is probably the fact that the Xbox Series console is launching with two different models at the same time. This would be like Nintendo launching the Switch and Switch Lite at the same time rather than waiting a couple years like they did.

After the price announcement I can see why the discontinued 1x...it doesn't fit anywhere in the lineup assuming the 1s drops to $150 or $200. That gives them a cheap BD/BC console with access to GP, their "budget" next gen digital model to drive GP, and the best on the market model they can champion.

Edit: I assume the digital 1s version has been discontinued? It seems to have disappeared...

Kind of a bummer on the SADE cause I might have grabbed one to toss in another room, then again might get Xbox One S close to that price over the holidays and I could also watch one of the 5 4K UHD blurays I own it, some day.... maybe

Looks like GamePass for PC is going up in price, from $4.99 to $9.99. Granted not an issue if you are already on Ultimate, and it is a quite more compelling product now than when it launched. I'd also have to think the next step in Xcloud is getting it on to the PC.

The only available retailer for the XB1 All-Access is Best Buy, but when Microsoft Store gets added wouldn't you be able to pay using your existing account? I see in the FAQ that it's a line of credit through Citizens One/Bank and that's who your bills will be addressed to, so you're probably correct that they won't accept M$ funbucks.

Dang, 20% off $35/mo and dropping the upfront cost to put into a new TV had me excited. Oh well. My TV is fine for now and I can still use funbucks to buy an XSX at a significant discount. Gonna have to wait for holiday hot deal tho, I missed out on the last hot deal for credit. I'll also need to buy some more 15-20% off cards when those go on sale again, between that last newegg deal and stockpiled bing rewards I only have about $280.

Citizen's One is who handles the Apple Store iPhone Upgrade Program too. It's going to be a credit check and a credit card on file at sign up, after which they'll bill that credit card every month (you're signing up for automatic payments ultimately) unless you tell them to bill another credit card. You can't bill it to a giftcard or trade credit.

Not immediately (only the One X and SADE are discontinued as of now) but I'd expect it to become hard to find before too long, just like every new console generation. And with this particular transition there's even less reason to keep the old machine around, because the new consoles are fully BC and the Series S already exists as a budget option.

Not sure if this has been working or not but as of today I have my main account on 3 different Xbox One consoles. Now all 3 consoles have my full library of games and can play online without any extra purchase of Xbox live gold. I'm pretty sure it's already been mentioned but only my "home xbox" and 1 other Xbox can play games at the same time. I was thinking you could play any games on any console just as long as it's not the same game but unfortunately that's not the case.

Not sure if this has been working or not but as of today I have my main account on 3 different Xbox One consoles. Now all 3 consoles have my full library of games and can play online without any extra purchase of Xbox live gold.

This sure doesn't sound correct (the post from Aug 25). I recall signing in on one console has signed me out elsewhere within the past few weeks but I don't recall the date it last happened. If it's true, it will probably get abused enough that Microsoft will change it back. I have several Xboxes with shared games for myself and kids and this has generally been a problem (except for the home console).

The 3 different consoles is correct and will work on Live as long as you are signed in. I actually have my profile and games on about 6 machines and I assume you can do it infinitely as long as it's your home console or you are not signed in on more than one non-home console.

I will say that, regardless of whether you can be signed in on multiple consoles, Microsoft handles this in a much friendlier way (and easier to keep up with) than Sony or Nintendo. Sony will let you do similar, but the saves only work on the "home" console unless you manually upload them and they won't sync across devices. Nintendo is apparently the worst on this and limits you to one Switch and one Switch Lite per account from what I can tell.

I Think in the very least 250 point for getting an achievement one is almost definite since UFC, Madden and EA Golf game that doesn't have Tiger Woods in the title all got one, a purchase one is a maybe, but it's one of the major sellers on XBox so good chance.

I noticed this was listed in the Insider app, so it may not be active for plebeian regular users. I don't have access to multiple consoles to test if both systems have to be registered for insider updates, but if it's being tested now it may be so it can premiere when XS launches.

I'm debating if it's worth even explaining to the people I'd want to extend sharing to. They aren't the most technically literate and might find it too much of a bother to sign in another profile in the background.

Looking forward to completing it, like most games in the genre it starts pretty slow for world / character building, but by the end of each episode we were pretty interested in seeing where the story goes. It's a line of credit with 0% interest, the balance is preloaded on that account. Unless I'm just failing at stacking rewards, you can't pay one credit card with another outside of balance transfers. At least every CC I have only accepts checking/debit card info for payments.

Nah, Sony would’ve just lowered the price after Xbox announced and then be perceived as higher quality since the anchor/original price was higher than Xbox. Like you were getting a better deal with Sony.

You had to watch on Twitch with your Ubisoft account connected. I believe whatever DLC they send us will either be put into our Twitch drop box for the PC versions, or sent directly to the PS4 or Xbox One versions of our games, if we have our Ubisoft accounts and our Twitch accounts connected to those.
