General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Yes, it was actually 3 months gamepass + the one month of gold that you got at platinum. Which converted to 2 months and 20 days of GPU.

I only have the level 2 multiplier, but it should get easier as you level up.

Combine the ambassador program with MS rewards and the sweepstakes entries and you're living that sweet (wifeless) CAG life.

Anyone else feel like they own pretty much all the games they are going to buy for this generation of xbox?  I look through these sales and i either have it or don't want it.  

What are you still looking to pick up if you dont have it yet?

There's a few random indie games and remasters I'm interested in but can wait until they are impulse buy prices (or make it to Game Pass, which is more likely):

-Saints Row 3

-Mummy Demasterred

I also plan on getting the Control Ultimate Edition and probably Cyberpunk, but with the gray area between generations on titles getting upgrades, I don't know if I'd count them despite Control being very much this gen. Anything else I'd get is probably PS4 exclusives.

I'm still waiting for Cuphead to either get it's dumb round head on Game Pass or get more than half off. Besides that, excluding current or future confirmed Game Pass games...

It's a Series 4 TV, so it's not top of the line, but it's a $150 55" 4K TV. That would be a GREAT replacement for a non-4K HDTV or a blank spot a bathroom or closet wall.

I was excited to get a current gen Shining game, but I cancelled my preorder after I played the demo. They just don't make them like they used to.

The new updated Xbox App is bad. No store, no redeem codes, no Achievements or profile feed.

I just literally used all these features yesterday and now they are gone. Not sure why they made these changes but I don't like them at all.

 
There are a handful of games I'm hoping for steeper sales on, but I own most of the major games I'm interested in, other than a couple from the past year. Working at a local gaming store meant I ended up getting good prices on anything physical when eventually came in.

The Halo news is a bit surprising, seems they're intentionally being a bit misleading in the MCC updates. It sounded like console FOV only just started being implemented and tested fairly recently. Not complaining, but it makes me wonder the status of the other recent mentions.

I still use the Xbox Console Companion, think it has most of the features and should still be available in the MS Store.

There's something weird with Rockband 3 in the Xbox 360 store on the web, the Country and Metal Track Packs were showing up for free. It's a situation where I'm pretty sure they were already delisted, but I don't think they can revoke you if you "buy" through the 360 store.

Not including what coming out with the new systems like AC Valhalla, I’d like to get the Interactive Movie bundle that has The Late Dhift and The Complex. Layers of Fear 2 when it drops enough and Greedfall.

I don't know if everyone has it but I have a rebates section in my Microsoft account. I made a purchase through the Microsoft Store link in the rebates section. I just cashed out a whopping .61 cents to my Paypal. I think I spent $10.00 on July 15 and I was able to cash out on October 15. Its about 2 months before you get any cash back.

So if you want to buy a game make sure to go through the Microsoft Store link in the rebates section of your Microsoft account.

I don't think those track packs exist anymore. Just turned on my 360 and couldn't find either via Bing or the Rock Band Music Store app.

Also couldn't get either track pack.  I guess I don't feel so bad about the $20 new Metal pack disc I bought off eBay.  Just redeemed the code it included and it worked.

I’m not into horror games but I loved Layers of Fear. I almost bit on Greedfall last time it was at $15. I really enjoyed The Late Shift and The Complex looks good. Hopefully they’ll go cheap around Black Friday. I just saw some of the season pass content for AC Valhalla and I am a bit tempted in getting gold edition day one now instead of standard.

Well I don't know what the difference is but there seems to be a listing for Doom Eternal and Doom Eternal (Campaign), if you click on the Doom Eternal Deluxe edition it shows that, not sure what the difference is

Interesting. Shows that I own plain old Doom Eternal, but not Doom Eternal Standard Edition. Guess I should download and see what all I can access
 
I'm starting to get the TV upgrade itch with next gen around the corner.  I'm using a 50" Panasonic 1080p plasma that's got some light burn in on the corners from game HUD stuff (Apex Legends life bars, Forza speedometer, etc).  Burn in is one of the reasons I'm wary of OLED TVs.  I know it's reduced and could take a long time to develop (https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real-life-oled-burn-in-test) but I'm not wanting to baby my TV anymore.

The Samsung Q80T 55" fits my budget and the spot where it would be wall mounted.  Anybody have any experience with this model?

Still waiting for a handful of games to go cheap (Shadowgate Remake, Civilization VI, Daymare 1998, Moons of Madness), their might be an oddball or two I'd pick up if they go cheap enough. Might switch some PS4 games over to Xbox digital to have for Series X's auto HDR, like Alien Isolation

I hope the FOV is implemented well, I couldn't use it on Borderlands GOTY because all the shadow effects clip at the original FOV. Not sure if they fixed that, but it was super distracting while driving around.

The JRPG collector in me just can't deny any JRPG that isn't all out God awful. Even if I rarely have time for most of them...or really all of them.

 
Scourgebringer is a lot of fun. Another great day 1 GamePass rouge-lite in a sea of many  (Neon Abyss, UnderMine, etc) The music rocks!
