General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Disney/Lucasfilm Games and Ubisoft have plenty of money I’m sure so I’m gonna recommend you all get jobs on the new Star Wars titles. Lots of laughs here today - much needed.
 
I have a Switch question, so naturally I come to the Xbox forum help.  An good pro controller type joycons available.  The only one that keeps coming up is the Hori one and others people recommend?

I Got these for gaming with friends and for my niece and nephew as well and they love it and it's on sale right now. Only feature missing from them from first party controller is Amiibo support and can't turn Switch on with these controllers, but you can do things like adjust sensitivity on analogs and such.

I've had that code for years and just remembered it existed. Actually had two! Looks like it's just cosmetic, though. Haven't played the game yet, but I don't think it's anything major. You can also buy it for $0.99 if you really wanted it.

These are definitely great controllers, and support Bluetooth for PCs and pretty much any other Bluetooth device. I got one to use with switch games and also got the adapter for the SNES classic.

I know there are wireless adapters to use DualShock 3 and 4 controllers with Xbox, but I don't think there are any adapters to use these particular controllers, which is unfortunate.

GP / GPU is for Xbox One and newer consoles and not for Xbox 360. The only way I'd say it's worth the upgrade to GPU from XBLG is to extend your XBLG if you have cheap codes for either GP or EA Play (or whatever), as the subscription time from those services would add to the subscription time you have remaining for XBLG when you do the conversion to GPU.

I need your Fallout 76 expertise please. I'm on the mission I am become death, current objective is to launch a nuke from any silo[decrypted launch code required] I go to the places it tells me and turn the button green in the portapotty but nothing happens. Sometimes the icon on the map goes away and sometimes it stays. I have watched vids but they aren't helpful. They don't show where I am and what I am supposed to do. I have killed like 18 of those guys carrying the codes on their back throughout my playing. What in the world am I supposed to do?

The Jango Fett game was pretty damn good. I haven’t played it since it came out but I remember really liking it.

The porta potty is the exit not the entrance. I don't remember if the mission marker pointing to the wrong place is a regular glitch or if it means that silo is currently used up. There are 3 silos and they have a timer reset after they get used on that server before you can launch again from that one. Don't need to bother with those card carrying officers as you can cheat and lookup on the launch code for each silo on nukacrypt? I think. Just make sure you have a nuclear keycard from those flying cargo bot things you can shoot down, probably should bring extras in case you enter the wrong launch code and waste the card as it gets used up on a failure too.

Use the wiki to find location of the entrance such as Silo Alpha. Each one should have an elevator that takes you down into the robot filled silo. Be prepared to spend a lot of time and frustration clearing the whole thing and following objectives only for something to get screwed up. My first nuke launch was back when mission markers were totally broken for me so I had no clue what it wanted me to do or where. It took an hour to make it to the end when the game crashed 2 minutes before launch. Lol.

Standard Valhalla digital version at Walmart is $35 right this minute. I’m tempted but I’ll wait for Ultimate Edition, it’s Ubisoft after all. I’m going to try to finish Legion, Starlink, Odyssey, Far Cry 5 & New Dawn and Division 2 real quick first. Lol
 
Im not going to get excited about this Ubisoft Star Wars until some hands on impression are out in like 2 years. I'm enjoying Immortals but it's clear they only got away from the usual tower/stronghold simulator by taking heavy inspiration from one specific game.

Unless the top down creative changes actually have an effect on the company I expect another very safe, by the numbers game more in line with the Tom Clancy games than what is interesting in the good SW games or even the better Ubisoft output. The Division team and creative director are not a good first sign of this bucking trends to me.

Think they were asking for joycon-like controllers that attach to the Switch. The only third party joycon I have is the hori left d pad. I love it but it only works in portable mode and probably not “pro” style.

With game pass ultimate until October 2023, there are no games on the horizon I want to buy. Weird feeling. I’d be tempted to get every new controller but the new style is not as ergonomic for me. Guess I’ll just stockpile rewards points for a special edition Series console.

Yikes, that's a long time to wait. I'm slow-rolling the game right now, it's fun and fine to play on Xbox Series X but I feel like there's no point rushing through it asap when improvements are coming.

My first thought when I saw the Ubi news was "oh man, they are just going to reskin Beyond Good and Evil 2, right?" but EA still has 2 years left on their deal and BGE2 has already been in development for 5+ years.

Glad I bought it at launch ... 😑 ... told myself I’d wait til the next gen patch before opening it. Guess I’m just going to play the non-upgraded version.

Stranger of sword city is also on sale for $10. Not sure the last time it dropped so low.

Was a tough as nails game I beat way back in the day.

Saw the price drop for Star Wars Episode I Racer in my wish list and came here to report. $7.49 ain't bad for a quick N64 nostalgia injection, but man are those FMVs are chonky.

For achievement hunters, it seems like this game could be a pretty quick 1,000. I finished the first circuit in about 50 minutes and got over 300 achievement points

Just picked it up as my first game purchase of 2021. Will probably be in the backlog for a little bit before I play it but opened it for a second and was surprised the menu was so bad. Had a lot of nostalgia for it on the N64. Paid all in rewards credit so won't regret it too much if I don't enjoy it as much.

I don’t think I beat it. There was something at the I couldn’t beat or get past. Don’t remember what it was but besides that, it was great. I’d love to see a game like that again.

At least there would be "alternatives to fighting"

Although it is much easier just to murder everyone in AC as opposed to sneaking...could be a nice light/dark side mechanic in there...

(I'm only up to AC BF currently for reference, current gameplay could be way different now)

 
Yeah, SW Racer isn’t a terrible game. Just hasn’t aged very well IMO. I mean I almost paid $15 for it so I don’t regret it.

How long do you have until the credit expires? Is it the usual 90 days? Also, I know it usually auto redeems at the beginning of the month, but if I were to sign up today, would I get one for January right away?
I didn’t think I’d use the credit enough to warrant it but I’ve been making occasional smaller purchases and I think it might come in handy now.

Bethesda intended players to hunt those silo codes down through a quest triggered in the bunker. It would send you out to get one piece at a time, and was a PITA and nobody does it that way anymore. I couldn't even do it the one time I tired because the silo failed to show any of the code I needed to unscramble in the silo. Those pieces you've collected randomly all self destruct at the same time each week, so you probably don't have many if any at this point.

It's been so long since I did it I don't recall how far you need to be to be into the quest, but you can just get the silo codes from Nukacrypt - Fallout 76 companion app (roguetrader.com) they are listed at the bottom for each silo. As long as you have a nuclear keycard you should be good to go, no need to track down those code pieces or decrypting them.

I started a new mission under the quest line last night. I had to take an elevator down and there were so many robots and radiation and I had to repair leaking pipes and I died so many times and I got to the part where I need to repair mainframe cores and had to go to sleep. This is difficult but I will get through it. Hopefully making progress towards finally beating this NOT FUN mission.

I've gotten no emails from them.

Side note, I have a "kid" account for my kid (required to play some games co-op, even off-line)... anyway the other day I saw she had a message from Xbox Live. I opened it and saw that it was a $10 gift card for last year's Black Friday sale. Of course, it no longer worked. Blah.

Lesson learned... check those other Xbl accounts for messages occasionally.
