• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Yeah, I only use my PS4 Pro to play exclusives these days. I probably won't get a PS5 until something smaller is available, and that's going to be quite a while.

I'm sure I'll get a PS5 eventually, for Final Fantasy XVI or the next Uncharted or whatever, but I'm conflicted. I'd love to save money on the cheaper version, but that locks me into digital purchases that I can't resell. I'm not really into building up a long-term library on a machine that only gets dusted off every couple years for big exclusives.

Samurai Shodown Series X patch looks to have gone out early.
The load into the game is now 20 seconds and into battles Is 11-12 seconds which is basically cut in half off muscle memory. Now supports 120hz. It wasn't supposed to be out till next week but got upgraded today with the update. However I don't know if it was there before but story cutscene prematch had screen tearing. I don't think this is in the normal battles unless it's super brief and didn't notice it but there is screen tearing in story mode. Overall all load times decreased seems the biggest benefit for series x/s I'm not noticing a visual upgrade difference and if it is I couldn't tell sitting a foot away or so from the screen.
I don't have a 120hz tv so somehow would have to chime in with one.

Seconded, just went to load it and got the "Upgrade is Available" pop-up. Super excited because the load times was the only downside to this game.

Add to that the $70 price tag for PS5 games. I lucked out that all but two PS games I was going to buy turned up on PS+.

I could only get my hands on the all-digital version. But most of my PS4 games are physical. And wouldn't you know, those are the games I want to play the most on the PS5. At least it was $100 cheaper. But I'm not buying anything new for PS anymore because I want the physical versions. So, I'm just using the all-digital PS5 for PS Plus and review keys. I sure hope Sony isn't losing too much money on the hardware.

A couple thoughts on the last day or so of discussion. First, I wouldn't judge JRPG music solely in DQXI. The mainline Dragon Quest has been a series that thrives on tradition, changing very little aside from graphical fidelity in 30+ year. This includes the out of touch, racist, homophobic, 90 year old composer who refuses to change any method of operation this entire time. He phoned in the efforts for XI and somehow held back a full ochestral version of the score from being added to XI S due to weird composition rights he has over the series.

There is still plenty of talent out there in that lineage, from the more experimental stuff like the Nier composition team, groups of younger talent like modern Final Fantasy tends to use, to other veterans like Koji Kondo or Nobuo Uematsu, who still make plenty of fresh stuff, even if Uematsu is mostly wasted on mobile games.

As for ID and battle royale and Quake. Personally I get the impression they lost the drive to make competitive games for a long time, probably a couple years after Romero left. They shifted to mostly single player for like 15 years and then outsourced Doom 2016's MP and much of Quake Champions. I don't know if they even have people at the studio that could make something satisfying in the vein, Battle Mode in Eternal sure doesn't make it look feasible.

I was at AEW Revolution tonight and I haven't been this disappointed since Halo 4.

The strange thing about Fallen Order is it shows under base games, not either kind of enhanced when you sort by console type. Should show One X enhanced like BF2.

I didn’t think the show was as bad as some others did. Did the ring explosion come off better live than it did on TV?

I’m playing on an OG X1, and it’s runs great. I think my problem with FM has been playing the full PC version. The Xbox version is based on FM Touch, which streamlines a lot of the decision making, making it much more accessible. Not the full list of available leagues, but unless you want to play as a USL League 1 side or take a team from the 9th level of English soccer to the premier league, you won’t notice.

I just browsed through the game a bit and I liked how many leagues from around the world are there because I enjoy playing different club DTS than my favorite team. After reading what you wrote, I got my hopes up the USL was in there. My city just got a MLS team but I will keep supporting our USL team over MLS.

I too was going to wait until a slim version was released but I am a big VR gamer and when I read that a lot of VR games I want to play and PS4 games in my backlog were enhanced and ran better on a PS5, that sealed it for me. It arrived today and I have been playing for over 3 hours. Astrobot is a delight like the first game was. The controller is awesome! Just booting up the PS5 and playing the included game with the new controller felt way more "next gen" than when I started up and played my Series X. PS5 has a bunch of new stuff with videos that show you everything new and again, including a game with the console that really shows off the new controller and celebrating all the years of Playstation games and products is genius. Sony and MS rip off Nintendo a lot with Sony doing it more but they get it right for the most part. They ripped off the Switch Pro Controller/Joy Con but I think it might be even better. So far, I am very impressed with the game and interface.

It's a MONSTER console though. So ugly and bulky. I definitely understand wanting to wait until Sony releases a design that actually makes sense. Again, I was going to wait until I read about how much it improved PSVR games and other PS4 games in my backlog. There are plenty of good exclusive games for it right now though and in the coming months and year. Not sure where the no exclusives comes from. Seriously, Astro's playroom is incredible and it's freaking included!

I'll definitely wait for a ps5 slim version since my current backlog only consists of digital versions of God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn that I picked up cheap on cdkeys. Or even better maybe playstation will maintain backwards compatibility going forward so I can just keep alternating between waiting until next gen, or midcycle updates and then never pulling the trigger.

Decided I liked Control enough to pay $10 for the DLC. In the end I started to get a little frustrated with the game but I stuck it out and got all the achievements. If I would have tried this game without the difficulty adjustments I would have most likely had a different take by the end. Story was cool and I am excited to see where it might take us.

The PS5 is big, but its aesthetic has grown on me. It could also be I have a spot large enough for it to lay down though that endears it to me, ha ha.

Just happy CAG has allowed me to save enough to snag both an X and PS5 at very little cost after trades, sales, etc.

I enjoyed both. The Cartel is complete turd, but almost anything can be fun in co-op. Colonial Marines and Crackdown 3 are good examples of that.

I feel like Microsoft would want to be as coy as possible since there's little downside to them waiting until closer to release of each game. If people think Bethesda will be exclusive, it sells more consoles while people wait for the clarification. If it is exclusive, some people will vilify them, but they're already doing that now anyway. If they are multi-platform, it will be good press when announced, but doesn't help Microsoft until they are ready to do pre-orders for some game(s).

The best reason to clarify exclusivity for titles like Elder Scrolls and Fallout now is to sell more consoles in advance... but no one can get the console now anyway.

They could just be waiting for systems to be on shelves before dropping that bomb.

Or maybe there's some other reason they're being coy, who knows. I'll get all of these games day one in Game Pass regardless, I'm not too fussed about who else does or doesn't get to play them.

Could use exclusivity as leverage to make deals with Nintendo or Sony for cross platform of other titles. That’s the future I would hope for, get more games on more platforms so gamers can play wherever they want. Would love to be able to have my Overwatch skins on all systems, same with Apex. I wish all the companies would allow cross play on stuff with items carrying over.

Make them all day one on GP and $70 on PlayStation. That’s almost as good as being exclusive.
