• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I actually forgot they made NT, was thinking Bamco in this instance. Still, the rumor says Souls inspired so that mostly fits Ni-oh, and they did say they were not currently planning on a Ni-oh 3.

Thinking of getting Stubbs the Zombie while it's on sale. Is it just an HD remaster (basically just like an Xbox Original ported to next gen consoles)? No new stuff in it? Should I buy it?

If you have been waiting to play it for a bit it’s probably just enough of a discount to make sense. Outside that being the case 50-66% will probably be the biting point for most.

Also if it matters to you there are a few grindy and frustrating looking achievements.

RE7 definitely feels like an off-shoot until the last 90 minutes of the game, then it all kind of comes together. I really appreciate the game as a reboot for the series where you can enjoy it with zero knowledge of previous games (new characters, locations, and seemingly zero connection to the other games at first).

I was initially concerned about RE8 being more combat-heavy since I really disliked the emphasis on over-the-top action which started in RE5, but RE8 manages to keep the tone and sense of dread / survivability pretty consistent. I'll probably finish the story today or tomorrow.

More than anything, I'm surprised Capcom was able to make first-person RE games that still maintain what makes the series great, Metroid Prime is the only other series which has managed to do that without it feeling like a mistake. I do hope we get another entry which is more traditional ala RE2/3 remakes though.

Just echoing what others have said, I was hesitant to pick up RE8 but I just finished it last night and it was fantastic. I also complained that they wanted to make it less scary but the game is much better for it. More varied locations, the combat improvements make the game more fun, and there is still just the right amount of horror and dread mixed in. Plus the graphics on XSX with raytracing are amazing, especially the lighting. 9.5/10 for me

There are now rumor swirling from a couple sources that there is a Final Fantasy spin-off being made by Team Ninja, whose closest relevant games would be Ninja Gaiden and Ni-oh. Souls inspired, and believed to be the revealed next month, which probably would mean it is the exclusive we were talking about.

My wild guess is a remake of Crisis Core or Dirge, or maybe even a console version of The First Solider.

Thanks man. I guess I can hold out on it then. I wish it was both compatible for 360 and One though, like getting the game gives you a copy for both platforms. That way I can have my kid also play it on his 360. That would probably be worth the price for now.

I hope it reviews well. The one big question mark for me has been how protected the play throughs have been so far, limited to ~4 hours. It seems to have Immortals Fenyx Rising potential, where it’s underrated at launch and ends up being a sleeper.

I Feel the main complaint seems to be it's a buggy ass mess, which can hopefully be patched and be more stable.

Meanwhile playing the two year old Rage 2 and characters in cut scenes occasionally not showing up and sound just stop working entirely in the game unless restart. But hey it's got ing double jump so yes! Video games!

I wonder if they could do more with that in the future. Like if you had a controller connected, could the second screen offer more information?

Remember how Titanfall had a companion app that could act as a full map for fights? What if that was the lower display?

Imagine if in Rainbow Six: Siege the lower screen could let you cycle through camera footage, all while able to move around and fight still, instead of having to stop and use your current screen to check cameras for movement.

The old G.R.A.W. games let you use your upper left HUD screen to cycle through teammate POVs to see their combat situation. Something like that adapted into Halo: Infinite, letting Spartans 'interconnect' to share data with that bottom screen could be neat for multiplayer (maybe even competitively if speeds were reliable or things could be hardwired in a revised version).

Even in Forza, the second screen could become a review with other data available.

If Microsoft looked beyond the second screen as just a controller, and instead started to relay extra information to the 'already there' second screen it might become more interesting to some gamers who also want a phone with two screens. It's almost like the Gameboy Advance to the Gamecube, where you might generate interest in this Cloud Gaming device with extra features on a lower, in-view screen. I'm not saying it should be exclusive to this device only (it should go to any mobile device), but it might begin to make something like this more enticing to people who play (or want to play) Xbox games.

Was waiting for a punch card too, but it releases tomorrow and no show yet, they had the RE8 and the ME Legendary about a week before release, I just preordered today to get the Mercenary class included, might kick myself if a punch card shows up tomorrow but really wated to support the small team of developers working on this, not everything has to be AAA and explosions, I've been pleasantly surprised with some mid-tier games with newer ideas.

Yeah as someone who purchased the first 2 and likely will the 3rd as well, I’d also like to know. RE8 ended up being totally worth it but I didn’t need to purchase ME Legendary. Same for biomutant, I don’t need it but will probably get it.

My leading theory is I saved a ton of Bing points to get XSX but due to availability I got it at Walmart, so I’m just spending them like crazy now and getting these games for free

Part of the fun with big SP games is the internet exploding with conversation about them at launch. There are some I can wait for, others I want right away.

It helps I paid a total of $35 for both RE8 and ME: LE out of pocket thanks to MS Rewards. Deals on launch games keeps the frugality alive, I've bought RE2 / 3 / 8 all at launch and paid less than $40 each.

I caved on Mass Effect, but only because the steelbook from BB seemed to be getting harder to find and I wanted to see it in person. Still don’t plan to pay $65 after tax though … hoping for a Walmart PM in the next 2 weeks or it goes back and I wait for BF as originally planned.

RE8 is worth full price … quite good imo.

Biomutant … I don’t get the hype for what appears to be a very middle of the road, small studio game. I definitely don’t see the CE becoming super valuable and it’s definitely not a 9.5/10, so no clue which site gave it that. With that said, might still be fun, but it has wait till BF written all over it for me.

These anniversary things are always indicators of how old you are. I still remember reading comics in the 80's and there was a Spiderman issue celebrating his 25 anniversary. Now Spidey is gonna be turning 60 next year and I feel ancient.

Meanwhile I'm over here being a total cheapass game wise. Not counting Sims 4 DLC for the GF, I've spent a total of 14.99 on games this year. I doubt I'll ever purchase a game at/near launch again. I'll let the fools rich people with more patience than me pay to Beta test games at launch from now on.
