• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
• On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Flight Simulator is downloaded and patched but the built in store is extremely difficult to navigate. Downloading all the free world packs and finding my premium edition content was really difficult.

Problem is it downloads in game so I don’t think I can close this and speeds are not great so far

New Mass Effect stats out. Nothing too crazy. Femshep is up to 32% from 18% back in 2013.

40% of people still play as solider, although I watched a few streams and a lot of people don't customize their shepard so you don't even get to pick a class, you just get soldier automatically.

Kaidan of course is the least popular in ME1 still.

I'm definitely part of that 40%. I've played a soldier in literally every Mass Effect playthrough across all four games.

I'm about halfway done with ME3, which I only played once when it first came out and don't remember much of. My biotic femshep has a 200% power recharge rate and can spam Shockwave and Flare, it's ridiculously overpowered and hilarious. Hard to imagine going through as a Soldier at this point.

Ashley will always die on Virmire because she is the worst. I actually dislike Kaiden more in ME3 but worth it to not have Ashley.

Played some Sega Classics. I do not remember most of these titles (with the xbox one title) so decided go achievement hunt using Alex Kidd today. Got it! Nice graphics for such an old game.

Did some of the Grounded daily quests from Burgl. I got the ladder with my raw science. I guess my goal is to unlock everything. They have a twitch tomorrow so I may tune if I remember.

I see the posts about Flight Sim. Reminds me of when I got one of the Rainbow Six (I forget which one?) games and I had to delete some items on 20g xbox 360 hard drive, it was painful. Sounds similar from what I’ve read. I believe this one of the few titles that require the Series X/S hardware to run. I think it was the Halo MCC that was essentially broken when it launched, its really improved from what I’ve read. I’m sure they will improve Flight Sim too. I’m not in any rush to get a Series X/S as I gather they are still hard to get at this point. I can wait.

Been flying around for hours. So awesome. Flew over my house, which obviously isn’t going to show my actual house. But jumping over to do some sight seeing - NYC, Grand Canyon, Mt. Everest, etc. is simply amazing.

Once you’re in the air, if you set things to easy, it’s much easier to control than I thought it would be. Will probably take off some assists over time. But right now, it’s just a relaxing beautiful experience.

Edit: and Back on Ashley. Her only previous experience with aliens before the game is from her family fighting in the war with the Turrians. Her animal line is problematic, but seems out of context and just implemented/thought out poorly by the developers. I've seen a quote somewhere that the writer regrets that line because of how people run with it. She isn't trusting of aliens at all at first, but she grows quite a bit and pretty fast moving away from those opinions as she gets to know all these species for the first time. Her first impression isn't great, but she improves a lot more than the species that have hated each other for centuries.

Just a heads up, I was able to get the 2tb official Xbox hard drive for $44.99 today at target. My target circle account had a $5 off $25 coupon as well so got it for $38 after red card. It comes with a month of game pass and when I redeemed it it gave me a second month to turn on auto renew. So two months of game pass and a 2tb hard drive is a pretty solid deal if it's available near you.

The 1tb drive on the Series X sucks. I would have rather paid $1,000 for the same console with a 4tb built in drive. I’m trying to figure out how to fit anything. Flight Simulator says it can’t update because of no space, Valhalla is having the same issue, call of duty takes 200gbs?!?! I have like 7 games on the internal. My son tried playing Destiny 2 on the external and it won’t play and wants to update so now it’s locked and pops up trying to update every time I turn on the console. This is a nightmare.

So anything that says S/X in the corner is unplayable from the external now? Or can I still just play it without upgrades somehow?

What's so special about this HDD? Is it any different than the one that came out like 4 years ago? A target 10 min from me says it's in stock at that price on brickseek but app has it for full price so I will check it out tomorrow. It's gotten great reviews so seems like a steal. Thanks.

Nothing special about it other than it’s branded with an Xbox logo. Otherwise it’s just a standard HDD. If you are looking for a 2TB and can pick one up it’s not a bad deal at all. However, if you need more storage than that you should just spend more on a bigger drive (on sale of course) to get a better $/TB ratio

I feel your pain. I like to have my whole collection installed and ready to play. It is going to be harder to do that this generation with the cost of the high speed NVME SSD these new consoles need.

I got the 1TB SSD external for the Series X and it definitely helps with space. Since it is an SSD it has almost all of the 1TB is available for use (no need for redundancy). I forget how many Series upgraded games I have installed, but my external is now close to being full and I have over 700 GBs available on the internal drive.

I got the external using Microsoft rewards points earlier this year. Getting it that way kind of reduced the pain in my cheap ass brain.

Jealous of those in the Infinite flight. There's no special setting for Infinite, right? Be marked for console flights on the page and cross fingers afaik.

It takes a few days after each purchase for the punchcard to activate most of the time. I have seen some people here have successfully contacted MS Rewards support if the purchases do not register in time before the punchcard ends.

As far as the games you metion are concerned, the X/S enhanced versions need to run on the internal or the official expansion drive. I seem to remember that MK11 would run on a standard external USB HDD, I am not certain about that though.

Hmmm….pretty sure every one of those are also 1X enhanced too. Has anyone ever tested and determined for sure that it’s the Series version that’s running off external or just the 1X one?

Isn't this what the Gen9Aware tag pointed out recently is for? Native = internal and Aware for External allowed is how I understood it.

Can you play Valhalla/etc on a Series S? ......... Why couldn't you? What am I missing? It's what it does.

I've had my Series X since launch and haven't felt constrained by 1TB internal, but last night I came home excited to fire up Flight Simulator only to see it was stalling due to space issues. Moved some things, deleted other things, then 30-40 minutes later the 27GB update downloaded.

My experience so far has been... underwhelming. The game has crashed a number of times, always before I reach the destination I was hoping to fly over / around, and once during the original splash screen loading. Many of the textures for roads and buildings don't fully load, a major highway looked like a dirt road for the entirety of a flight. I have Verizon 1000mps so data speed isn't an issue, but I assume it would run better on ethernet. Hoping it gets further optimized and becomes more stable.

Also, I am a terrible pilot.

I too am a terrible pilot. Even on easy I crashed my plane into Everest as well as my town trying to fly low and see landmarks.

Although if I actually did the tutorials I think it would probably help lol

On paper at least, removing the frame-rate cap brings about a huge improvement to performance, with Series S and Series X routinely hitting 90fps and even briefly flirting with 120fps - as verified by real-time refresh monitoring on an LG CX OLED TV. The frame-rate is highly variable though, anything from 50fps to 120fps, and while the improvement is clear, it also serves to make the stuttering issues on Series X more noticeable (Series S is more consistent overall). It's definitely worth trying if you have the means though.

Wondering if that’s why I’ve had a better experience. I have 120 FPS and VRR enabled paired with my LG CX.

I’ve lost my streak a couple of times in the last two months even with me doing everything each day because it’s a set part of my day. I had a streak close to two years that ended. Then I got to 31 days which I monitored more closely then the next day my streak was gone. I’ve lost streaks two more times including today. Seems bugged.
