General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Couple things: Hades has touch controls through cloud gaming, which I thought was cool. I enjoy the games that have touch controls. Also, for anyone that plays MLB The Show, there is a perk in the Game Pass app for 7 free packs of cards

There’s a brand new Castlevania game coming….to Apple Arcade.

Edit: Apparently this was a F2P title that got cancelled. Guess Apple swooped in and bought it. At least it won’t have micro transactions!

Still exciting … sad how long it’s been since we’ve gotten an actual new Castlevania game. Would love a remake of Simon’s Quest (even though it’s not the most popular in the series). Was playing Bloodborne the other day and noticed how much parts of it feel like a next gen Castlevania game … hopefully we get a sequel to that sooner than later.

At least there's the rumored Castlevania Advance collection which showed up on the Korean ratings board or something. And no excuse not to include the DS games, modders online have long since patched the touch screen portions of those games to be optional.

I am not so patiently waiting for Konami to announce the Advance collection. Hoping it does include the DS entries but wouldn’t be shocked it it doesn’t.

The action is so fast-paced though. Can you efficiently play the game using touch controls? Think it'd be hard to see the screen.

I played with headphones - super intense for immersion, and also my partner has mental health issues and the whole voices in Senua’s head thing would’ve completely freaked her out.

Also, the new enhancements may be a good excuse to replay the game on easy - I missed ONE DAMN RUNE and of course they don’t tell you which one.

Has anyone played Lawnmower Simulator? I was watching someone stream it and it looks fun and relaxing. The demo doesn’t work anymore.
 
Amazon Prime making me grateful I still own Evangelion 1.11 on blu because Jesus Christ just let me watch it in Japanese with normal English subtitles not this closed captioning only bullshit.

Apparently chapter select is getting added to the game. Previously you had to replay the whole game if you missed a collectible.

PS: 12 minutes is out in one week. How come it's not in the coming soon section of gamepass?
 
I google searched for "Boyfriend Dungeon" on my work computer, now I'm fired and I have plenty of time to play Game Pass. Thanks Boyfriend Dungeon!
 
Played 2 hours worth of Hades last night. It is the epitome of "Just one more run". I have to do the dishes, but one more run. I have to go to bed, but after this last run. Just the right amount of difficulty. And by that, I mean, I can't get past friggin' Meg. Who knew Hercules' gal was such a badass?

 
Playing Quantum Break and I feel I care for the live action segments as much as I care for the Animus segments in "modern day" in Assassin's Creed. Just who are these assholes and why are you acting like I care? Besides that the game feels fine, but damn does it just get choppy at times for no reason like during cut scenes.

And I know people like giving 343 Halo games allot of shit, but holy fuck playing Halo 5 campaign co-op is still fun Halo co-op. There's just something undeniably bare bones basic fun about Halo co-op where it isn't skill tree based or loot based, but instead here's a bunch of weapons and vehicles and up close encounters and go. Just never gets fun throwing a well placed sticky grenade on a grunt's head and watching them freak out.

 
Anyone that is playing the Diablo2R early access via XB...is it easy to link up and play with a partner? My spouse and I want to play together but not with a bunch of randos...I've seen on reddit the matchmaking is not true to the original on console.

Does anyone know when they’re removing Forza Horizons 4 from the Xbox store? I miss when they remove 3 and I know when 5 comes out it’s only a matter of time.

Given past precedent (4 years after release), next year would be FH4's turn. Maybe that will change since FH4 was the first Forza title to launch on Game Pass. (GP started in 2017 before FM7, but it wasn't until early 2018 that MS said first party titles would launch on Game Pass.) MS could have renegotiated licensing for newer titles.

 
I finally beat Streets of Rogue today.

Today's daily run gives you infinite ammo for any guns that you're carrying with you, so I just mowed down anyone and everyone until I killed the mayor at the end.  My reflexes aren't what they used to be, so I'm surprised that I pulled off such a miracle.

I unlocked about five or six achievements along the way, but at least I can say that I've beaten a game this year.  :D/

Just finished a run on the original Psychonauts for the first time since it was new as a refresher for the sequel. I’ve got to say it was still a lot of fun. The humor, voice acting, and art style are all top notch. The graphics look great on a 1X. For the most part the gameplay was decent, although there were some really infuriating 2005 vintage platforming sections, particularly towards the very end. Super hyped to play the new game
 
This one does not have the nostalgic attachment for me, but Nightdive Studios (Turok & Shadow Man remasters) is remastering the old Sega Saturn/PS1 game PowerSlave for new systems.

Also lots of rumors that id will be showing off a Quake remaster or remake on the 19th. Gives me hope that a Heretic/Hexen collection is still in the realm of possibility.
