• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Have you played Xcloud? Streaming over wifi is NOT like playing a game already installed on your HDD. The input lag alone makes me picky about what type of games to play via streaming.

Yeah I do play it. Have you tried it on a modern computer and you live in a major metropolitan area? It's actually my primary way to play Xbox since the load times are so slow on a mechanical drive (the stock Xbox One hard drive). Don't play anything that requires twitch reflexes like an online shooter or a fighting game. For single-player games, it's almost as good as playing games natively, just with no downloading, installing, updating, and reduced load times.

Considering that PS Now, xCloud, and Geforce Now all run like a dream for me, and that most people won't be trying to S-rank levels or play on hard difficulty, the tech is like science fiction when it works as intended. The most important criteria for your streaming experience is how close you live to a datacenter. Most tech companies will have servers in California, NY, and other major hubs. If you don't live close to those, then you'll have a subpar experience.

I believe there is some limited testing being done for a dedicated application, however! xbox.com/play is now working in Edge on Xbox consoles and you can load a cloud stream through the web browser on any system. So technically it's available but it's not optimized. Ironically it even gives you a warning that the browser isn't supported (does the same thing on Windows 10) but it works. I loaded up a game or two this last week and it's functional but inconsistent. I may try to get a video of how it's running but it's kind of a pain in the ass.

That must be what I saw, the thing about xbox.com/play and also reports of xcloud now available in Australia, but that must mean that we actually have xcloud for phones, even though we have the preview so we sort of had it.

Like gamegirl said, you can use xcloud on One X via the edge browser. Marvel's Avengers was definitely "playable" but was just slightly grainy and the occasional graphical glitch for a split second. Ultimately I went back to playing it natively on One X as it runs pretty well there but I tested out Sable on xcloud and the game runs like a dream compared to the One X which runs like a slideshow so I'll definitely be playing it on xcloud. This is definitely the way of the future. We're already so close to this being a reality. Pretty insane.

I think 5G is probably going to be a bigger deal than home wifi in 5-10 years. Upgrading fiber optics / cable internet is so ing expensive and requires so much construction, permits, etc from localities, meanwhile a cell tower can be upgraded. That said, it already runs pretty well on my home wifi, but the majority of homes that aren't tech enthusiasts aren't upgrading their routers or consoles every ~2 years, but they are upgrading their phones.

You can play it now on a PC, which should have a better wifi card than any Xbox One. If you bought a laptop within the last few years, the wifi there will almost definitely be faster. It's kind of bizarre that they're investing so heavily in this space. If xCloud runs so well and includes the majority of Game Pass games, what is the point of buying an Xbox? You can save $300 or $500 and still have plenty of games to play.

Your Internet speeds only need to be about 70Mbps, which most broadband connections are. The only major caveat is that streaming quality declines if someone else in your household is also streaming something.

Uncle Phil already said their primary goal is not to sell consoles right now, it's to get people to invest in the Xbox ecosystem, while maintaining that having a console is the best way to play. Same reason all first party games are being released on Steam now too, there aren't any strict console exclusives with Microsoft anymore in a traditional sense. With all the promos and discounts, not to mention cost of getting games on the service, there's no way Game Pass is profitable right now. It's a giant shift in philosophy, and it's no coincidence all first party games now also have some kind of optional microtransactions to supplement the model.

When the PS4 and XBO launched, there was a lot of editorializing that as game development becomes more expensive, traditional console cycles and generations may no longer be affordable or practical, especially as mobile gaming shows it's here to stay. I think the Series line with full BC and now xcloud, we're seeing it evolve.

These kinds of blanket statements aren't helpful and it seriously depends on what game you're playing, your local connection, and your hardware.

-I played about half of Boyfriend Dungeon on my laptop via xcloud and it felt like it was running native, ZERO lag

Meanwhile Gears 4 and Doom 2016 have the slightest input delay on my laptop, enough that the camera is pretty useless on all but casual mode, but Halo runs like a dream. My guess is that the actual amount of latency / input lag within a game engine may not be noticeable when playing locally / natively on hardware but becomes noticeable over stream if it exists. Digital Foundry has covered this kind of optimization when they compared all versions of Mega Man 11, for example, and how how responsive the controls are on all versions of the game despite having some variation in latency (around 8:50, starts pretty close to that):

It's not as simple as whether or not it lags or not. The device, the connection, the time of day (for potential throttling), and the actual optimization of a specific game may all influence the end user experience, at least until ultra-fast internet is the standard everywhere.

This is true. I have a modern computer with fiber optic internet connected with an ethernet cable and I still notice a lag on the games I play on Xcloud. I only really use that for Game Pass quests for games I do not want to download, especially the quests where you just have to start the game up. Xcloud would be great if I was away from my Xbox and NEEDED to play something, but not worth it when my Xbox is right here.

Anything real-time is a pain so it's only stuff that is turn-based or not action-y. This is on an older wired PC and a newer laptop on WiFi. As a comparison, I can play games on Stadia using either computer and the lag there is WAAAAAY more tolerable. The difference between MS and Google in this regard is a mile wide.

Another factor might be geographical in nature. I'm in DFW FWIW.

It sounds like you don't know notice the lag and you have no idea WTF you're talking about. I work at a videogame company with tools where you can measure the delayed response for testing purposes. It doesn't matter what game you are playing under what high speed service, you will ALWAYS have more input lag streaming than on a dedicated device with the game already installed. The fact you claim PS NOW, of all things, plays like a dream and then say to avoid 'twitch' games leads me to believe you either have bottom of the barrel standards or are just being disingenuous.

Your subjective experience with noticing lag is 100% irrelevant to the objective reality that it exists and is a valid reason why someone would want to have a dedicated console to play them on instead of streaming them on any device.

Cloud streaming has latency that is not present if playing something natively. It might be slight or it might be huge, but it's there regardless of where you are.

You'll also notice it less and/or it isn't as important with turn-based games versus an FPS or something action heavy.

I never said it didn't have lag. I said it was very close to playing games natively, and that the conveniences of not having to download or install games, or even own a console is a huge paradigm shift for those who have a satisfactory experience with the tech. If you work for a game company and still can't get a satisfactory experience from it, that's embarrassing that you can't get it working, though most people who can't never mention their Internet speeds or location, which are the most important criteria. Most people who try it are using whatever Internet plan that's fast enough to stream Netflix or YouTube, and whatever junk router their ISP gave them.

Take a look at this article. TL;DR: the writer has 400Mbps speed Internet - way faster than most people's. "I completely forgot I was playing over the cloud." That's a sentiment you hear a lot from people who get it working.

Here's something I've done that I don't see mentioned often online: you or a friend under the same roof can play on the console and TV while the other person streams from PC or mobile device. You can join the same game, and it's like a second TV and console setup. You're effectively making any online multiplayer game like Forza a couch multiplayer game. But you're in disbelief that people can stream PS Now at a fluid rate. Sounds like a you problem.

360 games are hit and miss. Try getting an achievement in one of the other games and it should pop. I used Undertale.

I've been playing Sable over the weekend. I've been really enjoying it. I wish the game wasn't so buggy and had a better frame rate. It reminds me a Breath of the Wild with no combat.  Real nice chill game with fun puzzles, story and a really cool watercolor style graphics.

A friend came over and I was going to do co-op with him so I quit my game (the game up to this point indicated it was saving at each checkpoint) thinking I would need to back out to the main menu and log him in and then resume my game. To my horror the game sent me back to ACT 1. I always see the notification that I am being logged in to the Xbox network and that my cloud saves are being synced whenever I open the game so I don't understand why it would not save my progress. I played through Act 1 with my friend in co-op and then exited to the main menu to see what would happen and it didn't save the progress.

The only way it seems to save your progress is to not exit the game but to just suspend it. Hopefully someone else reads this and doesn't lose their progress. Does anyone know of any other XBOX games with this problem? I wonder if Microsoft just didn't optimize the saving features on the modern consoles when doing backwards compatibility.

This won't help you, but there seems to be some issue I've experienced with Cloud Saves and Xbox 360 as well. I checked in the summer to find that both my Halo 3 and Reach progresses were lost for the 360 and One. I know they share progress, but I was surprised as it had previously been okay on my 360. I was hoping there was an error on the One side, and that by starting it on the 360 it would override or just resubmit my save file, but no. Reach does give me all of my Currency, so I had to rebuy all the armors, but Campaign was back to the start.

Like you, I recently tried playing through Gears of War 3 and found I had lost everything (except Rank for some reason, and achievement progress, for some of them). Both campaign saves were lost for the main game and DLC, character selection for multiplayer and weapon skins were also gone. I expect it would be the same for Judgment. I also know when I checked for Gears of War a few months back I had also lost my campaign progression.

Another odd one is Perfect Dark for Xbox Arcade. I've kept campaign progress in some modes (like Cooperative and Counter Op), but lost solo progress, with only half the main game showing as completed. Also, crown progress was lost, but it does still show them for me on the leaderboard. Likewise, it acts like I've never played Arcade versus before, with my stats all at 0.0%.

It's odd that some things are lost completely, but others still show. Obviously, some things are server side for the games, but I thought Halo kept server information for Campaign progress. If anyone else wants to go back and check on these games, or other 360 games via the One or Series, it would be interesting to see if they have also lost saves or progress from Cloud storage.

Nick Brawl is available with region changing. Feels good, although jump is Y and that's going to take some getting used to. Hbox is already streaming among others. No crossplay stinks, but hopefully the game does well enough to get it a la Power Rangers Battle for the Grid.

They did a similar thing with Cyberpunk but that promo was better. You got $1 MS credit with every can. I wonder what the code limit will be per account for this one. This would be better of course if you won the Series X console bundle or the jeep.

Question, how do I get to activate my Dolby Vision? I know my TV is capable of it and it already worked with different streaming apps, I also activated Dolby Vision for Gaming on my Series X in the Settings (all checkmarks are green as well) however when I start games that should have Dolby Vision, they are only showing HDR and I haven't figured out why that is. Like I said TV is capable of Dolby Vision (and Dolby Atmos as well)

Yeah, I had to as well with my CX. 120Hz DV support has been in beta for the CX for several months so it should be released soon hopefully.

I just went back to 120 for now. There aren’t really enough games supporting DV yet anyway.
