General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I bought one with a controller from a pawn shop for $300 last fall, so I'd guess $150 there is the lower limit for what you can get. My local Craigslist only shows a few that have been up in the months since, variously from $200 up to $350.

HAHAHA, good luck with that when people like me troll with the semi-truck just rocking first and reverse over the flag. One game I single-handedly locked the flag down where they scored like 3 flags all game.

I decided my time was better spent in Skyrim Anniversary. Now my issue is that time keeps disappearing, including last weekend.

Just finished The Medium. It was ok I guess. I’d say it falls closer to a walking simulator than any other genre, although there is slightly more gameplay than most of those games. Thank god there is a run button at least! The puzzles were super simple and it wasn’t scary. I’m not sure how you’d understand what was going on if you didn’t find at least most of the collectibles, as they provide maybe 50% of the story. Glad I didn’t pay for it, especially since I’ve never seen it for very cheap

Figures with this talk about movies. Vudu has UHD of the John Wick movies for $7 and I’m tempted to get them to replace my HDX versions.
 
Been Playing dying light 2…my monitor says I’m playing 120hz pretty smooth, story is good, reminds me of assassins creed with zombies. It keeps me playing.

Seen the dumb folks of Reddit calling it cyberpunk 2.0 lol…i swear every sub I visit on Reddit is just people mass complaining about everything…it’s pretty depressing lol.

I have seen a bug or 2 nothing I haven’t seen before, or game breaking…buy it If you like zombies n assassins creed style games…or wait because it will probably come to game pass since dying light 1 was on there before.
 
Anyone have recommendations for the anime sale? I was thinking about grabbing Jojo and I am a Hero, maybe the Death Note movies, so then got to thinking about the punchcard. But I don't really need any of the games.

It really depends on your taste. I’m a fan of comedy, action and Isekai. I picked up several I wanted around Christmas but I’m going to at least pick up Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out and Gamers! Maybe Rising of a Shield Hero too.

I ended up going back to FH4 and grinding out all the Eliminator achievements.

FH4 Eliminator talk.

I almost go the no car drops pretty early on. Actually almost did it in the level 1 Mini. Got to the finish line and hit a building while having a small lead on a level 10 car. Got second. Thought maybe it would be fairly easy but ended up being a grind. Not sure WTF happened but it was one of those games with like 5 people. Got down to the final two. Thought the much higher level car was going to challenge me right before the show down. But he didn't. I went the right way and I have no idea where he went. I had to pass through a tunnel through a mountain to get to the finish line. Plenty of time for him to turn around and blow my doors off. No need to cut through the woods or anything. Never really saw him show up on the mini map after the start. Easily beat him some how.

Ended up wining my 3rd FH4 Eliminator in my last game. I needed 10 or 11 car drops to get 100 for the last achievement. I was driving around and picking up anything. I think I had a level 7 car and picked up a level 4 car for the achievement. Somehow I won this race in the level 4 car. Again same finishing location as my 2nd place. And I still hit the same building. But some how was able to get to the finish JUST a head of the higher level car. Didn't need to win for any achievement but still was nice to win after picking up every trash car I could find.

I think the worst car is that level 6 Quartz thing. Its a monster truck or something. Perfect for catching as many trees as possible while cutting through the woods. I would legit swap out to a lower level Audi if I was playing to win.

Will have to look over some of the achievements I never got. I think about 6 of them are in the high 90% range. That was my original intent in going back to maybe do the PR challenges I missed and whatever else I think I could reasonably do.

Looking forward to hopefully getting the last achievement in FH5 (before DLC anyway) tomorrow.

I really like it, I had to put it in performance mode to make it smooth, I really wanted to do the ray tracing mode or 4k but I just couldn't handle how it felt. Reddit is getting really bad about that, don't join the battlefield 2042 reddit literally all they do

You might want to throw up some parameters here. I think there is something like 400 shows stretching roughly the past 15 years in this sale. Lot of decent stuff but also not too much I'd call must watch.

Looking at the games, I know I'm a sucker for an anime fighter, so Demon Slayer and MH One's Justice are on my list. Also, with Code Vein leaving Game Pass, I was picking that one up too. One Punch Man too, since the achievements are all offline.

Possibly stupid question...

If I bought a 3 month Game Pass code on Amazon around Black Friday but it is still sitting in my email untouched (I've been playing through some backlog on other platforms and I don't want to "waste" my sub) it should still be good to go right? 

I just want to make sure that it won't expire or anything.

Codes bought from (reputable) retail sources typically don't expire. The only codes that tend to expire are promotional codes like you would get for redeeming MS rewards points or from GPU or from some contest or giveaway.

It’s all about the money. If a significant portion of sales are coming from non-Xbox and PC, it makes sense to develop for other platforms. At least until cloud-play is good enough.
 
The main draw will be that games launch on Game Pass, incentivizing Microsoft's ecosystem. I currently can't fathom that the next Tony Hawk , Diablo IV, or CoD in holiday 2023 will launch on Game Pass at no additional charge. 

 
I just want Microsoft to cut Call of Duty to every other year. Let 2 of the big 3 studios have 4 years to make each one which will free up the 3rd to make something original. With 4 years they could make a campaign that is longer than 6 hours and not need as much help from the "support" studios. Having 9 studios working on a single game each year doesn't add that much value to GamePass.

At some point Microsoft won't be discussing Xbox exclusives, they will be discussing GamePass exclusives...stream on any GamePass compatible device...seems like the direction they are heading to me anyway
 
I'm definitely interested in Dying Light 2 but I also wish they would release the Series X update for Dying Light that they claimed to be working on last year.

I went to the local Wal-Mart today in the hopes of finding some clearance priced games for my Xbox One. No such luck (unless you consider NBA 2K22 at $50 to be a fantastic deal...), but I did grab a Seagate Backup Plus Slim for $53. Two and a half terabytes of space should give me a lot of breathing room; considerably more than the two 500GB drives I had used previously.

$53 for two terabytes of storage is a pretty good price, right? Even if it's not the best deal ever, I really needed that extra room for my games. A single terabyte doesn't get you as far as it used to!

Yeah, compared to CT it just doesn't stack up. The music was my favorite thing about that game. I couldn't even tell you much about the story and I beat the damn game, haha.

Listen, I'm just happy Square is acknowledging something in their library that isn't Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest related so I'll goddamn take it.

...

But damn if the talks of a remake/remaster of the game for over a year now didn't make me hope for more.

 
It’s a rare PS1 JRPG on Xbox. You will buy it and you will like it, dammit!!!

Chrono Cross is one the polarizing games I ever played. I remember thinking the game is exciting and interesting to tedious and stupid with every new exposition dump. It looks amazing for a 2000 era PS1 game but is filled with some of the worst character designs I've ever seen in a videogame. The soundtrack is amazing though, I actually bought the CD OST shortly after release.

I'm really excited this is coming out, on Xbox especially! I hope the New Game+ options are available off the bat and I'll be using a guide as I remember the ending I got was completely terrible and unsatisfying.
