• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

There is no way Microsoft isn't aware of what is going on with different region codes being redeemed via VPN. It's become so mainstream that it has hit slickdeals on several occasions. If Microsoft decides it is out of control, they can easily close the loophole by doing what Sony does and only allowing people to redeem codes for the region their account is registered for. I do believe if they decide to end the ability to redeem out of region codes, it will just be a fix to the loophole and not a blanket ban, as that would kill far too many accounts.

As far as calling this marketplace theft? I don't see it that way. These sellers are buying the codes at the set price for their region. If someone in Argentina buys the game and plays it, how is that any different to them buying it and me playing it? Dev still got paid what they expected for the code sold.

Keeping up with the Argentina talk, Cursed to Golf is under $3 over on Gameflip.

Pro-tip: Always buy games on Sunday afternoon / evening on GameFlip, that's when they tend to be the cheapest, unless of course you want to play it right away.

I am sure anyone's account can get suspended/banned for no apparent reason and that to me is the more concerning thing being discussed here. The only smart way to do this is to make another account and redeem the codes on that account. Too much effort for me to do. A game I would not pay full/sale price the legit way is probably not a game I would want to risk my account for. It is not enough to get me to make another account, then jump through all the hoops to get a foreign code to redeem. I cannot see MS banning anyone at this point in time because they still need all the good will they can get.

I am careful on Forza as well. Before I heard that they were banning people from the game (or the online section) for bad liveries, I had reported someone who had a car that just said "I EAT ASS" on it. I assumed they would just remove the livery, I would feel a little bad if the kid got his game banned for acting the way kids act.

Kind of disappointed that Death Stranding is not coming to xbox not gonna lie even though I already own it on PS4 but never finished it. i guess 505 games ported the game over to PC for Sony so there's no extra development needed to bring it to PC game pass, Porting it over to Xbox would have required some development, not sure how much since both systems are pretty similar.

I do not think it is. Maybe I worded it wrong. I do not think MS will mass ban everyone who used foreign game codes. Right now the one thing XBox has going for it is they have been trying to be the peoples console. They raised the price of Gold or whatever that deal was, and people complained and they undid it. If anything they would just remove access to those games bought in less ethical ways.

But again, I would not bet my XBox account and all the digital purchases on it. People who do are braver than I.

I read through more of that than I really needed to, but the gist is he did do Argentina stuff though not exactly in the way it's been talked about on here. Sounds like he was purchasing Argentinian Xbox credit, redeeming it on an Argentinian account, and then buying and gifting the games to his main account.

At some point, the account was banned and no definitive reason was given. He fought back about it for 9 months and they finally reinstated it and lifted his ban. Again, Microsoft gave no reason why the account was banned or why they unbanned it.

The people on that forum are doing way shadier stuff than gets talked about around here. Certainly it's all a bit borderline and sketchy anyway, but I'd say if they're mostly getting away with what they're doing, Gameflip and the like are probably a bit safer overall. At the very least there's some ignorance that could be feigned should it get to that point.

I'm sure using a VPN to buy out of region games is somehow against TOS, but actually buying and redeeming a game while physically in another country doesn't seem to be. I've had to contact customer because I bought FF13 while I was in Hong Kong, which apparently is one of the few games that is region locked to a Hong Kong account, and they refunded my travel credit card without any issues. I have bought games using a VPN as well, and I'm not sure how they could look at my account and tell what was what.

I've actually had to contact MS customer service a few times to get currency issues fixed (for Software stuff, not Xbox), and the most I ever get from customer service is "wow, you must travel a lot."

*btw: If you speak Spanish, ALWAYS use the Spanish option for United States MS customer service. The reps are so much easier to work with.

With Hades about to leave Game Pass end of the month, I really honed in on clearing my first escape. Finally did so the other night. Extremely satisfying as I never looked up a guide or saw any spoilers regarding the story. I dont have the time to 100% to see all the character arcs, so I'll just wiki it. As much I enjoyed Dead Cells, Hades is just a tad better IMO. Now I need to finish either Artful Escape or Grim Fandango. Trying to tackle that backlog

I imagine MS knows about it but is happy to take the cut of any sales they get right now, as long as this doesn't go mainstream. Afaik, Argentina codes didn't always need a VPN to be redeemed but publishers probably caught on and pressured MS to stop it (much like the Rayman Legends situation) and that was MS' quick fix to wash their hands of it. I expect that games won't be region-locked to those regions or redemptions policed until either the general gaming public is doing this regularly and/or publishers raise hell about it enough to force MS' hand.
In the meantime, newer games have just been priced higher in these countries by certain publishers, so that's probably helped keep them calm.

If the developers set the prices than that's on them I guess. It's not a lost sale if someone sees a lower price in another region and wants to get the lowest price being offered in my opinion. I personally don't have the desire to buy games from other regions to save a few dollars. I get the games I want when they are on sale in my region. I do pay full price for games that are around $10 since I feel that price point is pretty fair for a few hours of enjoyment. That's about all the time I have to play games lately. Maybe when I retire in a few years I will finally be able to play games more.

Wow, awesome of you to do this. I wasn't even hugely into BioShock when it first came out, but I appreciate this series more and more over time. All three of the games are gems. BioShock 4 will have a lot to live up to whenever they finally reveal it.

The first Bioshock is one of my favorite games of all time. The game is a lot of fun and full of atmosphere that I have never seen replicated since even in the sequels.   I do enjoy the whole series too. Nothing matches the original for me.

I loved Hades so much that my hand started hurting from playing it . I liked Dead Cells too but gave up on the game after reaching boss cells 4. Just too brutally hard for me.

If you can justify the expense I highly recommend it. Also want to mention that my experience with greentoe was solid. The only setback was the wait. It came from a smaller freight courier rather than one of the big guys like ups or fedex. Took about 2 weeks to arrive at the local hub destination, at which point I was able to schedule delivery. Could have had it the next day but I had to work and had to wait till my day off at the end of the week to schedule. Not sure what the lowest accepted price is currently for greentoe, but a few weeks ago it was $3200. That’s an out the door price and includes any tax and delivery. I know it’s over budget for a lot of people, but if you have the funds it’s WELL worth it

I have the funds but definitely not spending that much on a TV. Maybe if I was in a retirement home and spent half my day in front of it.

I have the LG CX from 2 years ago and it has been great so far. I prefer Samsung's OS over LG's WebOS (Steam Link App not in LG's store) but the OLED screen is nice and it works with the Series X and PS5 for 4K120 through my Denon AVR.

If you like to watch movies and play games then it is great. I can't wait for regular TV shows and sports to get to the point where 4K HDR is standard though. I still use Xfinity (mainly due to sports for local stuff and no lag streaming) but most content is still 720p or 1080p for live events.

Gaming thoughts...

I Wish when sorting game by size on the console they tell you the game AND DLC size. It's stupid it's not included and I have no idea why it isn't by default.

I'm in a weird place in gaming where I'm playing two very meh games. Assassin's Creed Unity I'm getting around to because I realize I should finally get to all my Assassin's Creed games, but even though I haven't played an AC game in years, the gameplay just feels so dated. Like it's a familiar muscle memory, but you never get used to your dumb ass character clinging onto every damn thing or how you want them to drop down, but suddenly they decide to just grab everything. I Really hope they simplify the controls on this when I get to the next few games. Also it's been nearly a decade, allot of jank in animation still. Like sometimes my character is stabbing them to death with mind powers from ten feet away or cutscenes where characters are supposed to show PDA, but the characters have an invisible barrier from them getting close.

Next is Twelve Minutes, I want to like for the voice acting performances, but man this game really needs to let the leash of the player go. Like I think of 428 Shibuya Scramble on the PS4 and how it gave you different endings for every bad decision you make and it encouraged you to make different choices. This game is so goddamn controlling in you have only one route and it gets aggravating having to try everything until you get the right route and even then it's more aggravating when you can't figure it out and have to use a guide so it's all the more less of a game.

In the very least, almost done with both games and I think Twelve Minutes I'll finish by tomorrow.

Glad I wasn't the only one that dumped Twelve Minutes in equal time for the exact reasons detailed. Never played Unity but Valhalla was excellent, minus any of the DLC that fell flat for me/didn't finish.

And speaking of Ubi-homogenized-soft: they got me again with Wildlands now that it hit Game Pass. I've actually had the game for 5 years but didn't realize the season pass code would expire after getting the CE on sale from Amazon, sooooooooo I shelved it indefinitely after their shit customer service did nothing for me about the code. But of course after years of them live-servicing the game and my own "James Woods syndrome" tendencies of seeing shinnies on a map, I immediately knew this was only going to end in hundreds of lost hours. So an ultimate edition purchase later, I'm 15 hours in.

Also I'm enjoying Assassin's Creed Unity MUCH more when you just straight up stop playing it like you're the stealthy embodiment of stealth that ever stealthed and just playing it like goddamn Christian Bale in Equilibrium. Game goes by much quicker and more fun if you stop trying to stealth kill bullshit and just pull out a gun and start blasting everyone. No more clinging onto walls, no more double air assassinations that don't work more than 2/3 the time and instead just hide behind a corner and start shooting or if there's a group just drop a smoke bomb and slugs for everybody.

I use Private Internet Access on my PC and it also works on mobile (same login, no extra charge) for trips to Argentina. It's a paid VPN but works great on PC for free movie downloads and trying out games im unsure of buying and mobile for game discounts

Just finished the game. It's dumb and easily predictable if you're expecting a twist.
I enjoyed the gameplay and even the story to a certain point but the small scope of the game makes the loops end up incredibly repetitive and the story completely jumps the shark.

I have had the 77" C1 for a little while now, been great so far. I put mine on the stand and picked it up myself which there is absolutely no chance I could have done with the 83". LG partner program winds up being about the same cost as Greentoe I have found which I prefer but I realize that isn't an option for everyone.

Along with all the chatter here the last couple weeks and the Capcom announcing they were raising Argentina and Turkey prices, looks like another one from the Dead Cells developer. Wonder how long before they start doing it for Xbox games as right now contained to PC with Steam.

Some of the new games released from City Connection like (Strikers 1945 1, 2, & 3, Gunbird 1, 2 and others are more expensive right now on Gameflip with Argentina region codes than the Xbox store itself.

Did a quick trip and grabbed Dead Cells and DLC bundle for $4.29. Figure I might as well own it at that price.

That's not great, but it's not terrible either. I'll definitely play it when it gets cheaper.

Saints embargo is up and is all over the place. Seems to be good, not great, base but lots of bugs. I'm watching the DF vid, 5 graphics modes! RT ambient occlusion! My guess is the game will be in great shape for holiday sales when they get things dialed in. VRR is a big help with this game living sub-60 with stuff turned on.

Game sharing, I can't play co-op with my share buddy, right? Because it's technically still only one copy of the game.

I've always enjoyed the series and most reviews seem to say its fun in general with a bland story but good open world. I'm picking it up for some fun open world chaos with a friend. We always enjoyed playing the previous games co-op and I have some BBY rewards to spend.

It's odd when games get low scores because of bugs and you get games like Fallout that are way messier and they get praise.  I've played most of the Saints Row games and am getting this one and look forward to playing it.  I've had plenty of fun with 65ish scored games.
