General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I played, enjoyed and finished it and I didnt even realize there was a subscription part to it. I think that is just to get extra clothes and other items that are not that important.

 
The more I listen to Sarah Bond on the witness stand the more I like her. I feel like she is answering questions exactly how she should be. Can't wait to go through all the articles on the first day info tonight.

The game ended up being a slog for me. After that opening the game quickly devolved into just running around barren landscapes and doing basic combat. I forced myself to get through it in the hope that I'd see what a lot of people seem to like about it, but other than the soundtrack nothing really stuck with me.

That's what I was afraid of. I kept hearing about how much people loved it and how it's a masterpiece but I haven't seen that since the intro. Did you just finish one play through or did you work on the multiple paths?

It may be something I just slowly make my way through while playing other games.

Over the weekend I chatted with a rep and asked to price match, they said I couldn't do the 1TB one because it was "Low in stock" (currently says "temporarily Out of Stock") and their price match policy doesn;t cover Low Stock items. But I could do the 2TB version. So I provided the links to the dell item and BBY item, and they emailed me a purchase order. I did this too with the red Xbox controller. Used chat to price match Amazon at $44, and used $40 in rewards points.

True to Dell form it wasn't without issues. They rejected my first price match attempt (with Walmart) because the UPCs didn't match? Luckily it was the same price at Amazon and the 2nd agent I tried to chat with matched it easily. Then my order was delayed and had to be replaced over the phone due to my card not wanting to authorize the $7 payment. I guess Dell is synonymous with fraud and no one wants to deal with them. But a prepaid Amex card worked :lol: and my controller shipped out today.

I only did one full playthrough and it was something I chipped away at over time until I was done. I've always heard people say it gets better with multiple playthroughs but that's a lot of time investment for something that bored me as much as it did the first time through. Maybe someday when there's nothing else I'm playing I'll see what a 2nd run is like.

I think I'm at the same part as you. Having the same thoughts. Having heard the game is amazing for years I decided to pick it up the last time it went on sale, since it rarely does. Loved the intro but now it's not too exciting.

I think that's always been the case, or at least I don't think it was recent. I remember utilizing it to get achievements in Bad Company 1 back in Jan 2021. I also kept Marlow Briggs and Plants vs Zombies in the queue around September 2021.

At the moment, I still have BC1 in the queue since they delisted it. I still have achievements to get!

According to this post, you CAN cancel outright. The OP paid $1 for GPU instead of redeeming a code though so YMMV if cancelling available for the latter.

Nice find. I just checked my account and I am able to cancel. So according to that post you need to wait a day before adding the codes to get the conversion offer.

I'm going to cancel this last month since it was free and then try to get a 36 month conversion tomorrow.

Edit: well nevermind. When I clicked cancel subscription it says this

"We can't cancel your subscription. You have already paid for your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. It will expire automatically"

So I guess I'll have to wait it out and hope lol.

I could only do the first playthrough. I liked it enough for that first playthrough but didn’t want to play it anymore. Too much running back and forth over barren boring areas.

How did you convert the first time? Did you buy GPU directly from Xbox or redeem a code? The OP said they paid $1 last year so I wonder if cancellation is valid for up to 1 year or something.

 
Finished Star Trek Resurgence yesterday. I really enjoyed it, the writers clearly understand what makes a good Star Trek story compelling and the choices make a difference in the outcomes. There are some glitched achievements though, so anyone who cares about those things, I would recommend waiting until the patch comes out that they are working on.

Started FF16 and the Xbox will probably be neglected for a bit. Guilty Gear and SF6 will bring me back though when I need a change of pace.

I'm only a few hours in but it's a real shame that this will probably never come to Xbox.
 
I just spent $500 on a PS5 to play Final Fantasy. So it's pretty funny to me to see people raging over needing an Xbox to play Indiana Jones or Starfield. That's the way of the world, if you want to play the game, buy the console. Or don't.

This might be a stretch, but I can't see any other sane reason to do this. Either that or Sony is just throwing a massive temper tantrum to get everyone to agree to their terms. I'm surprised I haven't seen this event play out on /r/facepalm to be honest.

 
What's the best credit deal? Game hitting soon I want to buy so need to get creative. Disc vs digital is something. I could get disc for nothing out of pocket, but I want digital to gameahare.

I want to play SF6 but I can't put Diablo down.
 
Welp the judge just had Phil testify under oath that CoD will continue on Playstation. This effectively kills the FTCs argument. Essentially case closed at this point.

Ftc is making Sony look pretty bad rn. Asking Phil why Ps5 doesn't have the newest version of Minecraft, trying to trip him up, and he says it's because Sony didn't want to send them a devkit.

I want to say this is "boomer cares about Indiana Jones" and not hip young stuff like Marvel or JRPGs, but Spider-Man is older than Jones. And the head of the FTC is a year younger than I am.

I hope they move on now from the console SLC and Call of Duty now - At least talk about Game Pass and Cloud Gaming or something.

Though Sarah Bond debunked the xCloud stuff yesterday.

 
If I was Microsoft I'd make Call of Duty exclusive. Just change the name of the franchise. Drop the CoD part and call it Modern Warfare when IW makes it and Black Ops when Treyarch makes it.

 
I just hope regardless of the result of the merger, that MS uses all off their power to become petty AF. I love playstation's games, but after hearing all this I can't stand them as a company. Such hypocrites

It's clear that for whatever reason, Sony has the FTC eating out of their hand. FTC didn't know the first thing about how the video game industry works, they went straight to Sony to find out, and they're willing to believe whatever Sony tells them.

Me thinks FTC lawyer should have spent more time doing his research.

Also Phil Spencer confirming the reason why Microsoft bought Zenimax is because Phil caught wind that Sony was going to make Starfield skip Xbox.

The reason why Xbox signed exclusive deal for Indiana Jones with Disneys is because Sony has exclusive rights to Spider-Man which is also owned by Disney. Phil closes that with how its important to have important known IP on Xbox as well..

According to Phil they were in talks with Zynga before take two purchased them. That would have been an interesting purchase I feel like king is a better buy for sure

I Hope this is true about MGS4 so I can spend 80% of the game crawling on the ground in stealth camo because I play like a coward, but in 4K.

Also I hope they release it with the Game Boy Color Metal Gear game as well.

The online's been broken since about last September. Rivals came back sporadically, but I haven't been able to get into an online road trip since last year. For a while, searches would just fail, but lately it would connect to some sort of session, ask if you want to join, then fail out saying it couldn't allocate a server. Spent about an hour earlier this afternoon running some races and the online never connected. Usually it would connect after running a race or two (allowing rivals, leaderboards and the daily payout), but nothing today.

Hope it does come back before the scheduled end. Just need 2 more achievements in FH2 - at 20 of 25 online road trips and am about 2/3 of the way through the 168 championships (which should remain fine after the shutdown).

 
Tile on homepage of the X1 has $6.99 for the I Know What You Did Last Summer Trilogy. I might get it just for Jennifer Love alone but were the movies any good?

First one was okish. The others sucked but for $7 for three 4K movies is a nice deal.
 
Today's Microsoft-FTC with special guest Phil Spencer was more of the sassy gaming insider gossip I wanted. Also why is FTC riding Sony's dick so hard with them trying to guarantee games on Sony's Cloud platform before the judge shut them up?
