Welcome to the Xbox Deals and Discussion thread.

General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Game Pass potential departure dates

Last updated - 2024-05-16
What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

If you have any questions about the list, please ask in the thread.

Venba (on Gamepass) is really sweet. Mostly story but with some fun cooking. Only about an hour long.
I looked through the reviews on the Xbox store. A lot of racists coming out of the woodwork to give it 1 star ratings. :puke:

I beat Venba and then cleaned up the achievements based on some of you talking it up and I wasn’t all that impressed personally. If it was a 99 cent iPhone game then maybe, but I’d be upset if I had spent $15 on that.

I feel like the work around is to make the more demanding games playable on series S via cloud. That way all the games still can be played on series S, and you remove the bottle neck
Nah, games being streaming-only is a slippery slope that MS clearly is interested in already. Streaming is not good enough for it to be a solution for people that are specifically shelling out for hardware, even if it's the cheaper option. All of the streaming-only, Japan-only games on Switch have pretty bad even with their excellent infrastructure.

FYI, Huntdown for $3.99 is a steal. What an awesome game with tons of style. Forgo one drive through meal (not even sure $4 get you a meal in the drive-thru) and grab this gem!

Just received an email cdkeys is doing an xbox summer sale with a code for an extra 10% off any xbox game. The code is XB10, haven't triedyet to see if it its just games or gamepass and stuff too

edit: nevermind fineprint, topoffs and memberships excluded

There was a questionable leaked screenshot of the Tekken 8 roster posted on 4chan in the last day or two (some of the renders are placeholder). Seemed like a fake, but now Bamco has been issuing takedowns on people talking about it, so it might be real. There have been some datamined lists from the beta as wel.

Most of them should be recognizable enough if you know Tekken well, you can find lists of names if you look around. Only two newcomers.

EVO starts today so there will probably be some announcements. I'm guessing they're showing it behind closed doors so maybe that's the source.

How do you finish Diablo 4? I got to level 81 on a Rogue and then Season 1 dropped and now I’m a 51 Druid on Season 1, when do I hit the end?
When you play Remnant II and realize it's everything Diablo IV should have been and more.

I already beat both games but I'm having a hard time letting go of Remnant II because it's so damn fun. People are now slowly adopting the game as they realize D4 is years from being balanced and posting new broken builds for it that are not only ALL viable for apocalypse difficulty, but are a blast. It's actually mind-blowing they managed to make a game this balanced where everyone is arguing over the strongest, tankiest builds. Even crazier is most of it has to do with gearing and NOT pigeonholed class combos, which makes them viable for almost any class setup you want.

They honestly deserve the player-base Diablo IV doesn't.

Just curious for anyone who does Xbox Ambassadors.  How many points are you able to earn every month?  I just started doing quests a month ago, finished everything in the "Accessability" tab and now only have some "Community Quests" available.  Still about 4k points away from Diamond and wondering if there's any other ways to earn

I’ve been doing Ambassadors for awhile but I only managed Silver my first month and Platinum the second. After that you should get Diamond all the time. Though I honestly don’t remember how far I was into my first season when I started.

I have yet to do any of the LFG or GG quests and have hit Diamond for the past 3 seasons. Just a matter of checking the site every day or so and removing and re-adding friends each month.

I do like streaming as more than a novelty, the Logitech G Cloud is awesome for the $200 I paid for it and I really enjoy playing games on it that don't require a lot of quick reflexes, Vampire Survivors, other indie titles, but local streaming is my primary use. Playing FF16 in bed with Bluetooth headphones, it feels native.

If streaming was not included in GPU though, I do not see myself paying separately or extra for it. As a beta service that is bundled with something I already paid for, I'm glad to have it, but the functionality is not there yet to make it a primary option in any way.

Microsoft (specifically the Xbox division) has a bad habit of trying to predict where the gaming industry might head and trying to speed along the process instead of focusing on what consumers want in the current market.

We saw it with Kinect, we saw it with the cloud, we are seeing it with Game Pass. The only marketing I ever see from them is for Game Pass. I wouldn't even know they have a console or what their first party games were if I were a casual gamer. It's just "subscribe to Game Pass and play hundreds of games". Shockingly bad marketing for a company that had some of the best ads I'd ever seen during the Xbox 360 era.
To be fair, Kinect was really successful and revitalized the 360 in the last couple of years it was out. Unfortunately they overestimated its popularity when they forced it at a much higher cost last generation. If they had made it an accessory and then had a retail bundle where you could get it at a discount, maybe an Xbox One for $400, connect alone for 100, and a bundle for 450, things could have played out a lot differently. The fact that the voice commands ended up being available through Alexa speakers just goes to show that if they had not been so concerned about proprietary hardware and experiences, they could have normalized some of that functionality without the expensive hardware.

Game Pass also sounded like a huge gamble when it was announced, I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 or 20 years we see an article or documentary that Phil Spencer bet his career on its success, and it definitely paid off. Especially with regard to the idea of having a digital only console.

I just wish they were a little more focused on their vision, all of these services and options, but not a wide selection of exclusive compelling software.

Nintendo approved it time and time again that if you have great games, the rest will follow. This feels like what happens when the operation is ran by people in marketing instead of people who are really into gaming - although it seems pretty clear that Phil is a huge gamer.

For anyone willing to take a trip to Argentina on GameFlip Huntdown is $.75 also got Double dragon 1-4 for $.75 each and Sunset overdrive season pass for $.75.I recommend the seller GigaGames as he responds quick so you can bundle multiple games, with great prices.

I do everything but the LFG quests and I always hit Diamond rank each season.

They nerfed the amount of points you earn from certain quests and lowered the requirements for Diamond from 15K to 12K so we'll see.

I'm at 8700 points and three of my Friends/Followers quests having registered as complete yet.

I wonder if Game Pass is the reason they aren't focused so much on delivering high quality AAA games. We saw the budget leaks of Sony games and it's not feasible to make games that cost north of $200m to make available day 1 on a rental service. They need every $70 sale they can get for these to be profitable. Especially when they are single player only with no microtransactions.

They have Starfield, Forza and Halo which cost a lot to make. But then you see games like Avowed, South of Midnight, Pentiment, Hifi Rush which all have that "Game Pass filler" vibe around them even if they are good games. They're just not the kind of games that sell people on expensive hardware.

Microsoft's big selling point to the studios they look to acquire is that they will have a hands-off approach and let them have all the freedom they want. That's not always a good thing. Some studios need a boss to steer them in the right direction and filter out their bad ideas. Naughty Dogs and Insomniacs don't grow on trees.

Thanks for the responses everyone.  Since this is my first season, this is what I understand...

-Each season lasts 3 months, with Diamond attainable at 12k points

-Diamond is relatively easy to attain (especially in the higher tiers)

-Tier ranks will keep accumulating throughout seasons (lifetime XP), and you will move through ranks 1-4 as you progress (this grants bonus XP as you move through tiers)

-XP resets each season

-Friend/unfriend dummy accounts for maximum value with the community quests

Seems simple enough, although that site/program has been really confusing to me.

So between this, MS Rewards, and Alienware - I can get $15+/month in gift cards (MS Rewards), $30+ in Dell rewards (Alienware), and 1 month of GPU every quarter (Ambassadors).  Any other freebies you all do?

I believe that with the revenue they get from subscribers who are not in this forum, they could easily absorb the cost of a 200MM game.

Those games take years to make; if they were monthly releases, probably not.

When they bought Bethesda for 7B, expected payback was roughly 4 years or so.

I get they owe current studios their share, sure, but, I dont think this is why they dont make AAA games.

I think its because they dont know what to do when it comes to games which is why they give hands-off not realizing the MS cash makes studios less hungry which causes different issues.

The irony, of course, is that games like Redfall and Halo Infinite get stuck in development hell and they're paying salaries plus operational costs (property taxes, computers, utilities, benefits, etc) for games that end up not being profitable, even if subscriptions offset it. On the other hand, a game that launches at a 5/10 gets played wayyyy more by people if it's on Game Pass vs dying at retail because reviews tell everyone not to waste their money.

I agree in terms of studios having good leadership. There's a lightening-in-a-bottle element to the studios and their leaders that made games like Mass Effect 2, Last of Us, even Gears of War that no amount of money or time can replace. Todd Howard is hopefully still one of those people.

Saw this reveal live since I was expecting some sort of announcement given how random the 10th anniversary exhibition bout on the main stage felt. For sure thought we were getting KI 2 but it's something and it shows that MS at least has some awareness of how much they've been sleeping on a great game/series (in a genre they have no other representation in, and one Sony has not had any representation in for even longer, no less).

Fingers crossed the patch boosts interest in the game on Game Pass and they keep the band together for a proper sequel. I think the original game would have performed much better financially had it released now instead of 10 years ago.

With Rumbleverse flopping as hard as it did, I think this might actually be a hard pivot from Iron Galaxy. "Oh shit, our GAAS died hard, what can we do to get a project NOW?" The upgrade in the fall would line up with how long it probably takes to get a thorough balance patch and Series X conversion together. Microsoft has been saying they're interested in more KI but there wasn't a viable team.

The dev on stage did point to the next 10 years of KI, but that could go either way as far as new game or simply the community keeping it alive. It seems like a long shot but I could even see them resurrecting KI 2013 fully with a new season of characters, like Skullgirls is.

How exactly does this work? Does Xbox care?

currency conversion, you know when other places complain they pay more for the same game? part of it is dollar value.

so a trick, is buying a cheap key in are currency elsewhere. most tend to fight it strongly by A, forced a set price so other places pay more for the game so we don't get cheap keys. B, not allowing foreign keys to play English . C, DRM hard that locks you to certain things.

technically, a sell is a sell and they don't care, some even benefit if is a obscure enough game nobody buys it normal price. their been plenty of site selling steam keys cheap never a issues, even seen people import games in English from japan before game ever release in US but not cheap keys those. I myself bought keys from virous sites for steam games cheap day one release and recent dabble in absurd cheap game for xbox that i did not want pay normal price.

part of it is game maker has to choose to sell to these places for a cheap key to exist, they also have keep price low for cheap key to exist. as long as millions don't learn, share and use the " trick " I don't think they will ever really care but if it hurt profits to much? it be nip in the butt real quick.

i use eneba myself, easy to filter and look for specific regions, also use ebay but their prices slightly higher and games can take a bit to come, got have seller confirm you know you need a VPN. most tend not to talk about it too much

i only found out by seen day one or near it, think the game evil dead for $4 i ignore it as it was not worth it to me but saw many other games insanely low i could not resist.

Oh no..., he doesn't know.
We'll see if you still feel that way after you get through the series and End of Evangelion...

Now I am VERY interested in the Rebuild movies. Going to have to take a break after EoE though

Thoughts to be finalized

I greatly enjoyed the psychological aspects of the anime and they hit close to home in some ways. I'm going to have to think and sleep on it a bit more.

I've never even heard of Remnant 1. Wtf.

Diablo IV and Remnant II are perfect complements to one another for me. Diablo my go-to hack n slash and Remnant my go-to shooter at the moment. Remnant is a huge improvement over the first game though and loving it more than I ever thought I would. Shooter of the year IMO.

I Think Evangelion and the behind the scenes stuff going on with the creator, Hideki Anno, is just as interesting if you ever want to read up on that. Basically he was going through some shit (as you can tell with how the series progressed) and let's just say the feedback he got for the last two episodes of the series was...well, not the most positive. Which makes me respect him all the more he channeled all that spite into a whole ass big production animated movie to just basically go full nihilism on the series and the fans. With that all said, if you had never watched it you probably would've never known how incredibly dark and psychological it got with all the spin-offs and it popping up in goddamn kids shows or being used as advertising for major brands.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xli293P8fug

So yeah, Evangelion is weird yo. Also Rebuild is much more robot anime than the TV series which was dark psychological series disguised as a robot anime.

Remnant wasn't on my radar, either, but after looking at the achievement lists for both games, there is definitely at least one big Transformers fan on the dev team.

I tried Remnant today, really did want to like it but the difficulty is brutal and not in the fun way. Fighting a boss with exploding enemies constantly showing up behind you is just annoying.

yea the game does have some random stupid gotcha moment's with damage and hits but i played over 40 hours and enjoyed my time spent more than i hated it from my annoying deaths

Baldur’s Gate 3 is doing massive numbers on Steam.  I had a Twitch stream on in the background for the drops and it looks pretty fantastic.  The character models look great for a genre where NPCs can start to look too similar.  I wonder if the console ports will have MKB support.  Looks like it turns into Dragon Age Origins third person when you use a controller versus overhead point and click with a mouse.

thanks for that info! Lol don't think it will work for me keeps saying my phone number is invalid....oh well!

I just "finished" Immortality (credits rolled). For whatever reason I found it much more engaging than the other two Sam Barlow games, probably because of my love for cinema and the amount of acting on screen.

It is expected to leave at the end of the month but I think I will revisit it a little later to get to the other two movies I didn't scrub through.

Definitely worth taking a break. I'm curious how your take on Rebuild as a newcomer will compare to longtime fans who had to wait FOURTEEN years for them to be completed. The fanbase is split pretty hard on them.

If you want a different flavor of the series in the mean time, I'd recommended checking out Shin Godzilla. Anno made this between the third and fourth Rebuild movies and it has a lot in common with the series.

There is also Shin Ultraman and Shin Kamen Rider in that series but I haven't gotten to them yet.

I haven't watched Shin Ultraman, but Shin Kamen Rider is on Prime video and it is straight up ass. It suffers from an overabundance of anime to live action writing where no one can act with their face and body language, but instead say aloud their motivation and feelings even when no one is around. Also it just force feeds you exposition non-stop.

Dunno if posted already, but plus and total members at Best Buy have access to cheaper xbox cards.  $100 is $85, 50 for 42.50, and the cheaper ones are on sale too.

Where are you seeing that Immortality is expected to leave Game Pass? Is it from one of Bloomy's posts?

Immortality is a great game! I agree that each of Sam Barlow's games has gotten progressively better and the acting in this one was phenomenal. It was the main actress' first acting job ever. She definitely deserves some kind of award.

Guess I need to finish FF16, so I can play Sea of Stars before Starfield comes out...
I try to avoid playing games on launch as I'm still happily plugging away at my backlog while I wait for games to get a few patches before jumping in but I'm excited to play Sea of Stars eventually and see where it lands among the great RPGs especially compared to Chained Echoes which most agree is a masterpiece! 2023 is shaping up to be the greatest year in video game history.

I heard Ultraman is good at least. I plan on checking them out this week.

Yep from Bloomy's post. Also it came to Game Pass last August so I'm usually expecting games to leave after 1 year anyway. Manon Gage is quite awesome indeed!

I avoid playing games at launch for exactly the same reason you do. People rush shit out so I'm OK with hanging back and chilling. Not sure if Redfall will ever get "fixed" but I'll check it out...eventually.

I actually really liked what little I played of Redfall and I think you will too. It's a good game and there's definitely fun to be had there as long as the devs don't give up on the game. When you think about Sea of Thieves and Grounded which continue to improve and have millions of players. Even Halo infinite which continues to get a bad rap is actually one of the better online multiplayer shooters. Cyberpunk 2077 has been out for 3 years now and it continues to improve year after year.

Well I am about to get on a plane in the morning tomorrow. Really thought I was going to lose my achievement streak but MS cloud gaming and Coffee Talk episode 2 saved the day and I was able to keep it over 25 days of travel through Europe. 3055 days and counting.

Is anyone else having trouble with the Halo MCC weekly quest? I’ve been playing multiplayer via Cloud and just finished an MP match where I know I killed 5 enemies and nothing.
