IMPORTANT:

If you want a Nintendo Virtual Boy to display or collect, it is a great-looking piece. It is not functional enough to play games in its current state.

I saw a post like this in New Jersey, but it was best offer. It had Hagane, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy and some other stuff. I tried to call the guy a few times and he didn't answer. So I texted him. Get a text back "Fake Ad".

Then again, it can be true. Some people dont know what they have is valuable. Right before the birth of my first kid, I was cleaning house on a lot of my stuff in my house and started selling my games for $5 to a few guys at my job. All of a sudden 2 guys started fighting with a bidding war over Marvel vs Capcom 2 (this was before it was released on XBLA and PSN). I was going to take one guy up for $20 until the other gave up and showed me the going price on eBay which was $60 at that time.

Point of the story, I can understand low prices since some people are just in a rush to get rid of stuff and dont have the time to do the research. Selling crap for double the price though is a different story.

Maybe, it's just strange to list only valuable games. Maybe if it was a hodgepodge of some random stuff with earthbound thrown in I'd believe it.

I had Earthbound as well. Right now its probably sitting in a garbage dump since I left it at my parents house when I moved out and they threw it away when they cleaned out my room. And yes, I crigne everytime I hear about that game now.

It could be. I recently got a call from a friend of a friend who had purchased a building + it's contents. The building used to house an old vending company, and I was called to see if any of the machines were repairable. There was a Chicago Coin bowling machine similar to THIS one, a couple of crane games, a sit-down racing game with a lot of water damage, and 5 or 6 full size arcade games in varying conditions, of which included a 4-cart Neo-Geo, Simpsons, Mortal Kombat, and Blitz Football. I think he was more interested in seeing if they were worth trying to fix or just haul to the dump.

Yeah, I think the catch to the ad I posed is that you had to haul away everything so even if you did see something good you had to take all the other garbage away too. That could be a pain.

The easy way around that is to go and scope out the lot, and if there are certain valuable items to cherry pick out of a load of junk, pull the good stuff out and load it up first, then give the owner some excuse (or just straight out bail at the first opportunity) - "my truck/van/vehicle/donkey cart is fully loaded, so I will need to come back for the rest", "I need to take these illegal alien manual hourly/day laborers I picked up from Home Depot/buddies/myself on a break to get some food, be back in a bit", etc.

If one was new to using craigslist to sell, what tips would you guys give? I don't want to do it really but I want to see if I can unload some of my old books and other misc. stuff this way to make a little bit of cash before lowballing myself at retail chains that buy used stuff. I hear there are a lot of scammers out there so what can I do to avoid them or at least make it harder for them to harass me? And what's the best way to have people contact you, as I only have one # so I really do not want to give that out though I suspect I'm opening myself up to bots with an email address ugh.
