dude if you're in socal you should go out to Level Up or some of the other get togethers. I've been trying to get option to go to one. I know he'll do very well.

I went to the first level up wed night fights, then one more but it was crowded as hell and dave n busters but now they've moved somewhere? I don't know. Dave n busters was 12 min away, now they have moved to inglewood somewhere. that's 30+ and not worth the drive.

It is now at hollywood park, which is not bad but closer to me than D and Bs. If D and Bs was 12 min from yah then you must be in OC somewhere. Next thursday there is a small get together in Norwalk. Some OC favorites might be there (gasp! Shizza, AndyOCR, maybe Warahk).

I am gone for like a whole week so I plan on going to like every single event next week (Level Up, Norwalk and then Don's).

Going to something like level up is totally worth the drive in my book. Make sure you sign up for the tournament.

I've been going to these events and I'm still terrible. However I do know that I am so much better than when I started. I was sooooo bad. (i couldnt even do a super or ultra).

Keep at the blogs option, I plan to read them all!

btw i wont be in town next week, so if you plan to go out to the events just once, dont make it next week or we'll miss each other.

Speaking of blog, just finished another one (there's even a full video). Check it out guys, and tell your friends! (shameless plug -_-)

you should mention an easier way to fadc, or to do a perfect fadc, putting you in the best position possible framewise

forward + (mp + mk + forward)

slow down of in game sounds makes it sound bad
seeing you do the motions doesn't really help
a nice thing was the clean writeup, you could start a thorough wiki page

It's better he just mentions the proper way to do it first and let them find out all the little intricacies later.

It helps people to see it done first hand, gives them an idea of how to do it. I know my friends like seeing it done on a stick instead of just reading how to do it.

Well, I kind of worded it wrong, my bad, what I mean was that it's difficult to see the joystick motions and button presses in the video. So it only adds to its aesthetic value.

Most of the time, I'd like to know the best way to do things. I like information being fed to me. You would be amazed at how far some players get and how good they are, yet they don't know much about input command secrets. I mean, in option's blog about special canceled into super special, using ryu's hadouken xx super as an example, he shows overlapping commands with qcf + p xx qcf + p but it's NOT explained as to why it's not qcf + p, qcf qcf p. Or maybe it was explained in an earlier post.

My own anecdote: my friend plays balrog really well, yet he was still tapping down for quick get ups when I asked him why the f was he doing that since he loses his charge, when he can be pushing lp +lk. This was about 3 months ago. He's been playing sf4 since it came out.

another friend played ryu and had to learn how to dp when crossed up, which is just after holding block, do qcf in the direction your opponent lands on. from john choi in person. this was about a year ago. this is whack, I mean with all these forums to share knowledge, shouldn't he have come across this earlier?

oh, and I'm serious about the wiki the writeup is so shaq-fu-ing clean. almost everything online so far that I've seen is shit.

I wish I could cover every little intricacy, but then I'd go crazy.

I have to admit, it is kind of hard to see the button presses and joystick motions. Unfortunately, I don't have a webcame that's high res enough and can keep the sound in sync. (starts to chug at higher fps/res during capture). Hopefully people can at least get an idea of the rhythm/how fast to press buttons/input moves with the sound.

My main intention is that people just starting out have a hard time doing anything in the game. They figure out the motion for fireball and they call it a day. My friend had trouble getting the concept of the two in one. I honestly had to show him on stick/pad how to do it and explain it. The guy is smart, but honestly is totally new to fighting games.

Unfortunately, we don't all have some sort of Street Fighter or fighting game history. Some people are just jumping into this kind of game for the first time. A lot of times when they start learning from a "seasoned" player, they forego the most basic of basic info when it comes to fighting games. They're shown stuff like bnbs, anti-airs, etc. and they're like "what?" They simply don't have a grasp of the most simple aspects of the game mechanics.

Yeah, slo-mo sound does sound bad, I'll need to alter the pitch and what not. Maybe I'll update the video.

My friend that i've been trying to get to play SSF4 knows what to do, but is unable to get his button presses executed properly. He wont play SSF4 against me anymore, but he'll play SSF2T:HDR and just mash kicks with chun li (i just be an ass and play guile)

That is EXACTLY true.

Ideally, it would be great to have someone on their level learning and growing alongside them. But this is hard to setup.

You can't just pound them into submission, that'll make them quit even faster.

Showing them nothing but combo videos is totally ineffective.

It's usually a lose-lose situation. The person has to have desire, determination and the patience to practice/get good. Unfortunately, those things cannot be taught. It has to come from them.

You win some, you lose some. [/cliché]

edit: Also great games this mornin' j-cart.

Err...anybody here a noob at Tekken 6? I'm completely new at it, and just bought it today.

I looked at the command list for Jin, and there was about 80+ moves that he can do O_O

Daunting.

I use to play tekken 5 a lot but Tekken 6 nerfed my Bryan Fury so I skipped out.

Skip Jin and play as Kazuya. Then learn EWGF,

I want to play again, but I am waiting for the game to lower in price more ($20?). But once I get I'll be down to play.

I want to stick my guns with Jin. In Tekken 3, I learned to spam one of his moves (I think it was forward and the second punch), and it was called Tooth Fairy. Or something.

So many good memories. In fact, I probably bought Tekken 6/Soul Calibur IV just because of their previous games (Spent way too many hours in Soul Calibur II, and tons of fun with Tekken 3).

Also, darn Tekken Zaibatsu's images are all screwed up. The crap.

Dont know much about Jin in Tekken 6 (other than that Devil Jin is way better). But from tekken 5 his: db+triangle, triangle, X was his setup move since the X would drop his opponent (then it was ground juggle from there).

Sadly none of the Soul Calibur's were like the second one. I actually have the PSP version and I spent more time creating characters then actually playing (my favorite creation is John Wayne, ill get a pic of it).

Ahh well i actually havent played Tekken 6 on console, only played once at an arcade. His juggle:

df+X, uf+X, d+X, triangle, d+X, triangle, f,f+triangle was gone. That was my go to move in tekken 5. His d+x, triangle is different than before so it was just weird for me trying to do moves that they changed.

You can do df+3, u+3, db+2, f+1, b+1 B! uf+3, dash taunt_db+2 50:50 or juggle ender of your choice instead.

Yeah, d+3,2 is a juggle ender now. You can just use db+2 by itself in juggles instead, though.

Your go to move was taken away so obviously he was nerfed......

Yeah, Bryan wasn't nerfed by any means.
