Well, it's that time again! Actually, it's a good five months ahead of that time, but thanks to the writer's strike, we get a winter edition of Big Brother!

A regular season (not a Celebrity edition as rumored), Big Brother 9 is premiering on Tuesday, February 12th at 9/8c.

It will also have airings on Wednesday at 8/7c, and Sundays at I believe 8/7c. A definite change from previous seasons.

BB After Dark will return this season as well, on Showtime 2, beginning on Wednesday the 13th from 12AM to 3AM, and then airing seven nights a week.

This year we will see 16 houseguests competing for the big prize. In a commercial for BB9, it was stated that:

We’ve matched each houseguest with a soulmate. They’ll compete together, and if they’re not careful, be evicted together.
The cast can be seen here.

When more information comes up I'll be sure to edit the OP, and I'll try to keep the OP updated (in spoiler tags) as to the goings on for each week.

Actually, I heard it will be a regular season, but that the houseguests are rumored to be related to either actual big name celebrities, or past houseguests. Just a rumor though. I kinda hope it's not true. The show caught all kinds of shit for trying (in many cases outright cheating) to keep a lousy secret intact last year.

Dick knew Dilana last year (as well as a plethora of other music folks). That alone was enough to make me love him.

I hope that isn't true, as that sounds lame.

Seems that way.

I have Showtime now, so I'm glad BBAD is returning. I missed out last season. I'll have to DVR it, though, since I'm on the east coast.

Definately DVR it...watching it live gets bad...you keep watching even though nothing is going on and time flies...when you DVR it you can scan ahead for the good parts.

Just heard on a commercial:

"We’ve matched each houseguest with a soulmate. They’ll compete together, and if they’re not careful, be evicted together. "

The cast seems rather like the first few seasons, where it was generally normal people. Back when it was more about the experiment than ratings.

I gotta remember to add it to my DVR as well as ShowtimeToo's BBAD.
For me, I've always disliked the first episode but by the 2nd-3rd I end up getting sucked in.
I'm wondering if the "evicted together" part means this means it's going to be an abbreviated season, or if it's going for the full three months like the summer one.
I just realized that as well, there's 16 known cast members, that will mean 8 weeks, and that's if they don't do double evictions this season, unless its going to be 16 mystery soul mates that join the cast, that would make it 32 and we would have a 16 week season...doubt the latter.

How many weeks is norm for a seaon?

That's a very good point. Although I believe there are a few more contestants this time.

If they truly are always evicted together then that's pretty weak and won't last long.

Maybe it's just a gimmick for a week or two, like the dual heads of household that one time and then it's every player for themselves. From the TV listings, it looks like the first eviciton is tomorrow night.

Double evictions every week, while a good twist for the houseguests if they don't know their partners, will get old quick since it's really random who leaves, and gives the show even less skill element.

Yeah, but Big Brother has never run during the same time frame as Survivor. They fill each other's time slot throughout the year. I guess they don't want to lose CSI reruns or something.

Yes. Waiting from Wednesday to Sunday will suck. :[

Althoguh this year it'll be better since there's BBAD.

I'm pretty sure they occasionally overlap. Could be wrong, though.

...Oh good.

They're all single, they're all "looking for love," and the season seems to officially be called "'Til Death Do You Part."

I'm calling it right now, worst season yet. It's going to be like the fuckin' Real World.

That cougar is a horrible, ugly woman inside. Her behavior is absolutely disgusting.

It takes a "special" kinda of woman to make me wanna use the "C" word and she definately earned it from me.

Where does she get the nerve to insult that guy in front of the whole f'n house and has the gall to get pissy about him calling her "Ma".

Yeah, that guy was embarassed publicly (more like nationally) and the fact she's a "former model" explains her attitude. She's bitter because her superficial life ended and she just can't handle it. I hope there's a "divorce" competition and he wins it. What bugs me about her is she looked like she was about to cry because the "hot" guys got picked, as if they really wanted to share a bed with her to begin with. The ego on her is amazing. I have a feeling she's gone, by a majority vote. They'll toss her and simultaneosly tell the guy he's going out of respect, that if not for the rules he'd still be staying.

This season already has me thinking it's going to easily be the worst. The whole theme is so grade-school and juvenile. The "showmance" shit is exactly what people do NOT like about the show, and unfortunately that pigwoman Grodner just does whatever the hell she wants.

Thankfully it looks to be a shortened season that was only created to fill the writers' strike void and cash in quick on BB8 scoring the highests ratings in the show's history. But if they were hoping to hold onto the new viewers Dick Donato got for them, they dropped the ball with this soulmates bullshit.

I said the same thing when they revealed the theme of BB9. But after the whole issues with Sheila(cougar) & Adam, Jen & Ryan(Couple), and Jacob & Sharon(ex couple) could be very interesting. We'll just have to wait and see how this short season rolls.

Thats something else I wanted to say..

Ma was so upset at not getting a hot guy, she didnt bother to think wether or not the hot guys wanted her.

lol, that ma comment was hilarious
I don't know if you guys have eyes or not but there at least 3 super hotties which is more than last year.

I noticed that the girls look better than their pictures too.

I wasnt as interested in this season when I first started watching it, but by the end I ended up enjoying it and looking forward to more. I just wish they evict the annoying older lady who keeps bitching. Really annoying.

I don't see how you people can watch BBAD. It takes up sooooo much time. And it ruins the weekly episodes as well! However, it does give some interesting inside info.

Chicks are all hot.:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool: All except for the old lady. Apparently, she was once a Penthouse Pet. I wonder if she ever did any of the pee photos? Or were those only in Hustler?

Love the twist this year. Gonna be some hanky-panky, yo!
They said three months. It won't be shortened.
They, as in the people in the house? They have no fucking idea what's going on. The Jen girl was outright lied to by producers when they assured her she'd be paired with Ryan. No big surprise though after all the shit last year.

With two people leaving every week, it couldn't last 3 months. There's only enough people to last about 2 months, unless the pairs become solo players after a few weeks of forced matchmaking? That's gotta be what happens.

I'm glad that early 90s suburban gangsta Jacob shitheel got booted. Seemed like such a nice guy on the first episode but tonight was just unreal. His girlfriend was a douchebag too. That's all I gotta say about that. Oh, and Jen is hot as hell and the one chick looks like Sandra Bullock and has a disturbingly flawless ass. Alison is kinda hot too. Damn, they hit the female eye candy jackpot this year.

Holy shit.
The girl that got booted out tonight is back in the house. My guess is when a couple is kicked out, they compete and one gets to come back in and play solo.

Okay, I think the girl got to come back in because one of the gay dudes had a family emergency and he left. But the fucked up part is Big Brother matched the girl up with the remaining gay guy. Yet another season of the producers rewriting their own game rules on the fly. Pairing up two people of opposite sexual orientations?
