I shipped of my copies of Uncharted Drake's Fortune and Ski-Doo to sum41rcks1 for $54. I shipped first, and I have traded with him in the past and had no issues. But he stated that he would pay me by the end of last week. And on friday of last week he sent me a payment of $20. And delivery confirmation stated the games were delivered. I'm still waiting on his payment of $34 and he still hasn't payed up. I tried contacting him via PM and paypal money request, and have gotten no response. I even tried contacting him through AIM but he signs off as soon as I politely ask for his payment. Any help on what I should do?

"I will only send trades/money to those people who have already sent me their items. For the items I have not received I will not pay for, because I have gotten way in over my head over this and do not have the money, I apologize for this.." - sum41rcks1

He told me to tell everyone about this and the fact he is leaving this site and all other sites he has dealt with after everything is cleared up.

I know this sounds bad but at least you got 20 bucks. Some people get scammed and then left with nothing but still sucks big time for you man. Im glad i never dealt with that guy. Have mods been contacted if not do it quick.

He tried valiantly to get my copy of Star Ocean: TLH. Then when we finally had a trade and a date, he backed out. On his page, he began selling his items (without telling me or even saying "can't trade, but I'm selling them...)

At the same time he was selling a RE5 and other games he's bidding on the SAME STUFF in other lowballs. It was insane.

O GREAT! I have a trade with him also that also could have went wrong. I should have known it was a bad trade from the start. We agreed to ship our games out at the same time, and I'm yet to receive mine.
 
Why isn't he banned is the real question. I would think dv8mad's blog should be proof enough. Sorry about this man, we really need to send a PM to everyone on CAG with a list of people of who NOT to deal with.
 
Why would you ship two games without getting paid first? I thought that was standard CAG protocol. Someone should visit this kid's house. He's probably 12.

This is a case where the CAG protocol failed. sum41's feedback score was higher--so Asian shipped first.
 
Wow, sorry some of you had to deal with that guy. He reminds me of that anbu zim kid that got banned.

I almost traded systems with him a few months back and I backed out thanks to instinct and nothing else. I am happy I didn't go through with it. Granted he was sending first, but god only knows what kind of shit he could have pulled.

He's a frequent member at GTZ as well, maybe we need to let the members there know.

OP: Hope this resolves fast for you with a postive outcome. Thankfully it's only $20 at stake, but whether $1 - $10000, it still matters.
 
Either way, it looks like he doesn't belong in a public trading forum. I think a banning is proper for people like this. It isn't my decision, but my personal opinion at least.
It seems he can't keep his mouth shut and screws up people's bids and backs out of deals left and right. Plus, obviously he can't pay on time or let anyone know what's going on.

Not to mention, he was leaving anyway, right? :p

For what it's worth, I posted a message on the GTZ forum (another trade site he frequents) directing them to this thread, to let them know what's going on.
 
I'm contacting his local Police Dept. tomorrow about this, and you should as well OP. Dude is crazy if he thinks hes scamming me outta two games.
 
Wow, I'm sorry to hear about this...and tbh, I'm a little surprised. I sold him RE3 a little while back. He paid immediately and I had no problems with him.
 
From what I have been hearing, he's been a decent trader in the past. It only takes one time though.
I don't know if he was just holding his true colors until he felt he had the entitlement to do what he wanted or if he dropped some acid, but regardless, he's proven he's not a good addition to this site.

His erratic behavior has not been a new thing, but rather it has been consistent. It just depended on whether he had to stall to get you the stuff or not.
 
Sorry to hear about this OP. Hope things work out for all the people that had to deal with him.

If he really did lose his job, it kind of makes you crazy and do stupid things sometimes. Honestly, though, he sounds like some little spoiled kid that likes things his way or no way.
 
I PMed the OP and he lost his address and only remembers the city, but if anyone has sum41's addy PM it to me. He lives really close by.
 
This is what i found from him, if he says he will pay on particular deadline, the chances are slim to none that he will pay on that date. good luck, a little pressure from the mods might help.
 
He was a member on GameTZ and I think he was banned since his pages can no longer be found. I found these pages using Google cache and as you can see, he wasn't exactly an ideal trader. He had 5 canceled trades and frequently put off paying sellers.

OP, if I were you, I would call the police department too as another CAG is doing. If they get enough calls, they should investigate it.

I almost traded with him once but I'm glad I didn't... I just got a bad vibe from the guy.
 
Just found this thread as a result of Sparta_Omni posting at GameTZ (where I spend most of my time). Here was my response to the thread:

He is now HollywoodUndead. While our trade did work out, he was a DICK during it. I was warned about him by several other users but decided to trade with him anyways. After waiting forever to send, he promised that he'd send something EXTRA to compensate and to ship via Priority instead of First Class, so naturally I agreed. Days later when he finally DID send, he claimed to have sent via First Class despite his promise before, told me that I should be LUCKY that he didn't send media mail, and then the item arrived via Priority. His "extra" was a roll of scotch tape thrown in the box. I didn't know what to expect with this guy, but I really can't complain about anything but courtesy, and even then shipping the item via a faster method is quite courteous in my book.

All in all a positive trade experience with him, but I can't say that I would recommend him to anyone else simply because he doesn't seem to have his act together. I'm sorry to hear that he supposedly scammed other people. That just plain sucks.

For reference, it was agreed in the terms of our trade that he would send me Spore and Crysis Warhead mint complete for PC for Fable II mint complete for Xbox 360. We were both to send via First Class mail and he was to send first. He did send first (after the complications listed above), and the games were in fact fully functional and as described (despite a small EA licensing issue related to DRM with Spore that was promptly resolved by EA). So disregarding the little bit of bullshit from him during the trade, it was a pretty much successful trade. Again it sucks that you guys got taken by him.

I joined GTZ a week or so ago just to get the story out there. I simply linked the blog post in my profile info there, but alas, I have only had about 40 profile views since I opened the account. I don't know GTZ well enough to get the word out though...

I knew this was going to happen eventually, so I tried to get word out as well as I could here and even posted after him a few times linking the blog again.

He has yet to pay me for items that he won on the lowball sale. Considering my sale was going on simultaneous with dv8's, I didn't really get the message that anything was wrong until the sale was almost over.

I knew about the lost job situation and had heard that he sometimes takes his time paying, but figured I'd let everything take its course and see what happens.

All of that aside, he doesn't strike me so much as a scammer but as someone who gets in over their head. My understanding is that he has paid everyone eventually. Many people here, myself included, aren't in the business of extending a line of credit and expect to receive payment quickly (this is one reason why I have always insisted on payment before shipment). This is in direct conflict with how sum41rcks1 has been operating and tends to rub us the wrong way.
