Dead Island (PS3/360) $45.99 at Amazon

i hear this game is awesome but the save glitch seem to be a big problem, i will just wait for permanent fix before i buy this game.

The save glitch makes the game unplayable (it's been unplayed since the launch week). I'm at the mercy of the developers to make a patch.

Is the save glitch PS3 only or for both systems?

Is the save glitch only in certain areas? Im 55% through main story and havent had a single probem. I will destroy all mankind if it glitches on me now

I really dont know the details with it, but I have heard of people losing their saves late into the game. If you have a usb drive I'd recommend backing up your saves to it.

Daz whats up! Good find OP! I havent had any issues with saves and im 76% thru on the 360....does anyone know if Best Buy will match this price?

Won't buy until they iron out the bugs. Launching a game incomplete or with broken programming is unacceptable. I learned my lesson with New Vegas.

I beat the game yesterday on 360 and I never encountered the save the glitch. Of course I didn't notice any glaring bugs or glitches either.

whats up bro, may be a big YMMV but I dont think BB will PM Amazon

I beat the entire game (40~ hours into it) and never encountered the save glitch. Never signed out of PSN. To my knowledge it only really occurred if you played in a multiplayer game.

so I found this to help explain the whole save glitch:

Early adopters of Dead Island have been battling with dozens of reported issues since the game released earlier in the month. As with some of Bethesda’s games, these glitches range from the noticeable and sometimes comical to directly wearing down the game experience. One of the most notable known issues causes auto-saves to cease, completely stripping players of hours of work. After some thorough investigation, we’ve found the culprit, and have devised an FAQ to help people understand the root of the problem, and better yet, how to avoid it.

What causes auto-saves to become glitched?

Testing has revealed that data becomes corrupted when Dead Island‘s online infrastructure attempts to join two or more players with the “Join” feature.

How do I know if my game has been affected?

There are a few tell-tale signs that your game has been glitched. The most certain signs are the following:

During game saves you will no longer see the save indicator on the top-right. This happens because saved games are no longer being written.
After completing the requirements for a trophy the trophy doesn’t unlock and/or a trophy unlocked message doesn’t appear.
Can I recover my hard-earned progress?

Unfortunately, once a game has been glitched all progress made is lost.

How can I prevent this from happening to me?

Since the glitch is caused from the behavior of online connections, the best way to avoid your saves from being impacted is to limit yourself to the single-player experience until a patch is released. The best way to accomplish this is to configure yourself for one of the following two models:

Play Dead Island while disconnected from the PlayStation Network. You can either disable the internet connection on your PS3 or sign out of PSN to accomplish this.
Set your Game Visibility setting to LAN under Game Type: Cooperative under Settings.
Techland hasn’t replied to the thousands of reports involving corrupted saves, and no fix has been announced either. With that said, due to the scale of the issue, chances are that the developer is working hard on a patch to remedy the issue (Update: Techland have revealed that they are working on a patch to fix the auto-save problem). Stay tuned, and until then, save yourself the grief and disable your connection.

i love this game, but my save has been corrupted twice now. but youre able to restart with the same character at the previous chapter i believe, but you lose all you inventory (weapons, items, and mods). with my current save, im at 80% with no problems.

so i recommend this game, but be weary of playing co-op through live or psn. thats what corrupts your save (or so it seems).

I agree, it's a good game. I had a game save (85% and 40hours) get corrupted already, but, I will not play it online until it's patched.

so...i should wait for this for hit $20 by black friday? didnt they already release a patch for this game? were there really worse issues than a save corrupting glitch?
so I found this to help explain the whole save glitch. . .
Yeah, look at the date on that: almost two weeks ago. The patch they did release initially (for PS3) only further complicated things and had to be removed. I've had constant issues joining my friends on the PC when they're at earlier stages than me. When I finally do join, it crashes sporadically within 5 minutes. There's been a thread on it for the longest time, yet no patch has surfaced nor has Techland even addressed it.

The game was pushed out the door to beat the holiday rush and it shows. Sad really, since the game could have been great.

The only problem I've really ran into was my save being corrupted. By no mena is the game perfect though, but I do really enjoy it,

I'm glad I read this thread before I went to Best Buy to pick it up. The little bit I played of it so far from a Redbox rental was really fun but I didn't get very far into it. I was planning on buying the PC version but I'm not gonna touch it if they're still having all these glitches.

It seems like they have a long way to go before they have a stable, playable game. Until then, I'll just sit back and let them fix it while the price drops.

I havent had any issues with the game.
If anything it would fall under fallout and fable 3 where some people might run into glitches while others don't.

Both this and fable 3 I played release day never running into the problems others have.

Personally I find this a great price for the game especially if you have friends who want to play it as well.
What about the crappy degrading weapons? Which you have to "repair" constantly, or they degrade to uselessness? Sounds lame to me.
Just like in Fallout, you'll get more durable weapons as you get further in the game.

I bought it for $59.99 on amazon and was glad I did. If you are only planning on playing single player or offline, I would just wait for a price drop, but if you have a few buddies who own this game I say bite down and let the good times roll!

Almost done completing with Logan and then I might try Sam B.

It only serves to drain your money and piss you off. They will never break, so you can repair from zero but at that point you're better off using your fists because broken weapons do jack shit. They even put two talents in my character's skill tree to reduce the degradation by a %. The skill trees are a joke and had no thought put into them. I just picked stuff that increased crit or damage from weapons, but after I made the mind-blowing knife it all seemed pointless since I'm one-shotting all normal zombies with it.

Seriously rushed game.

This couldnt be any more true! :applause:
No deal! Needs to be at least $20-$30 cheaper than this before I'll consider it.
I agree but others out there will jump on this price

Great game, haven't encountered any problems on 360. That said I think this deal has been going on for some time now and was possibly mentioned in another thread?
Did they fix any of the problems with this game?
That is holding me back from buying this game. The last thing i need is to get really deep in this game and suddenly have my save data fucked up

At this point it wouldn't really matter, because everyone has moved on.
