"Bomb" hoaxes in Boston might be Aqua Team Ads

This is funny as hell.

There have been several devices found all over Boston today that they thought were a fake terrorist hoax thing. It turns out they might be ads for the new Aqua Team movie that is comnig out. At least one of them seems to be the case. The FBI / MA Police and everyone went around thinking these were bomb hoax and were all serious, it has been on MSNBC and CNN and is now being reported that it might just be a lot of ads!

Best marketing ever!

Boston police were investigating reports of suspicious devices at nine locations throughout the city today, including Sullivan Square, the Boston University Bridge, the intersection of Stuart Street and Columbus Avenue, Longfellow Bridge, Tufts-New England Medical Center, Harvard Avenue in Brighton, the intersection of Washington and Water streets, the McCarthy overpass in Somerville, and Memorial and Mass Ave. in Cambridge.

Is there any pics to these "bombs"?

Just curious to see what they look like, and why anyone would have thought they were bombs.
 
I'm more concerned with the fact that the video said these devices have been in place for 2 - 3 weeks. If the police/FBI thought they were bombs, it's not good to hear they sat there for that long in multiple cities before being noticed.
 
Are people that dumb that they think a flat sticker with blinking lights is an IED?

They didn't really think they were bombs, but blew them up anyways. I don't understand that statement, but that's the police's job.

I'm waiting for the Governor and Boston Mayor and the FBI to come out and say "We blew up some ads".

All they seemed to be is a motherboard with lights and a battery and during the day it freaked people out. One woman went "They have been there for weeks, I should have picked it up". I don't really kow what she meant. Pick it up as a gift for someone? :)

They put them all around BU. Right on the bridge connecting BU (Boston) to MIT/Harvard (Cambridge). Total waste of money. I guess people are that dumb.
 
I think it's a waste because all it is is the charater. Doesn't mension anything about the movie so what was the point.

So you think they had the whole thing planned? Yes it was their plan to have these things blown up! They called the police on these objects just so CNN can talk about them!

This is not going to change the minds of many people about watching the show / movie. You already love it or hate it.

How much you want to bet they have a bump about it on [as] tonight? I used to love [as] comedy a great deal but if they get taken down a peg due to this, I'll be glad. Their arrogance really has been out of control for some time now.

I seriously doubt anyone in Columbus would care, especially since the places they would advertise are in the college and art districts, where people would at least recognize the Mooninites as something not of a terror organization.

That's not what I meant. The attitude that Boston displays in general towards stuff like this, including this incident, is a reason not to live or work there. If you had common sense you would realize it wasn't a direct bash at BU, but you don't. And because of this, you had to make a classless comment about Columbus being "trash" when plenty of trash live in Boston. They're just wealthier.

Oh whatever. These things were up for weeks and noone said a thing. It wasn't until some probably white trash redneck during their annual trip to the city came across them that anything came of it. Quite frankly the Boston PD and Mayor's office is blowing this way the fuck out of proportion. Maybe I'll go put some lights on my yard sale sign this summer and leave it out on the corner and see how long it takes for the bomb squad to get called in. :roll:
