Through the console, after first selecting to download a GoD you are greeted by a familiar gray confirmation screen that pops up displaying the size of the download as well as confirming the price. At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:

On Xbox.com they've made it much more obvious, the confirmation "extra step" pop-up after clicking the download link displays a link that simply says "Use Microsoft Points" directly under the price in dollars at the top of the page.

WWE '13 is absolute hairy balls online where people spam moves and the glitches seem to come up more than usual. Offline, it's a somewhat enjoyable experience, definitely moreso with multiplayer. If you played the SmackDown games on PS2, it's the usual arcade junk style.

Should I get Orange Box for $5? I got Perfect Dark Zero thinking no game would be bad enough to not be worth $3 and I was stunned.
Yeah perfect dark zero is the worst. I had the disk years ago and got rid of it after playing it once.

Orange Box is great. If you haven't played Portal 1 then it's a must buy.

Opinions:

Bishock Infinite: I started but never got past an hour into Bioshock 1. Not because I hated it, but because I was about to get Infinite and Columbia is a much more rich world than Rapture, in my opinion, look-wise. Columbia has some beautiful vistas and great set-pieces. It's like the opening of Bioshock 1 except continuously. With that said, it was a phenomenal game for me. I really like strange stories and twists, but man. In all likely-hood, this game will be in the GOTY running versus The Last of Us and GTA V, so if you wanna be in that conversation get it now. I know a lot of people might not get to it if they wait with the new consoles and games starting next month.

Gears of War: Judgment: I am a Gears fan. I liked one, loved two, and liked three. With that said, Judgment is very clearly the weakest from the bunch. You can view it from two sides: A: They stuck to the formula too much; B: They changed too many things for the sake of it. Hardcore players might think B. I think B. I dislike the new control scheme. It makes Gears much more fast paced and lighter when the game wasn't meant to be played like that. I do think that Judgment is still a good game compared to other games, but as a Gears game, it's okay. I picked it up from Craigslist for $15 early June, I think that's a pricepoint good for this game.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: This game is rad. We did have a clash of action games with Rising and DmC at the beginning of the year, but I love Rising. The story can be so corny, the characters can be outlandish, but man, Raiden has some style to his moves when you get in that groove. Once you pick up on how to play the game, the action gets so smooth and quick. There's definite replay value to be had. If you are that type, play the game.

XCOM: YES. I never even knew what XCOM was last year, but I heard every podcast I listen to talk about this game so Black Friday I made it my goal to snag the game. I was so glad I did. XCOM is not a kickback kinda game. When I play it, I have to get in the zone and be ready because it's stressful. Building your group can be rewarding, but when the enemy kills that person, back to square one. I think a good way to play this game is to name the soldiers after friends on Twitter and do play-by-plays every now and then. If you like strategy even remotely, HIGHLY recommend the game. It can be buggy and freeze now and then, but I honestly think it's one of the best gems to come out of last year.

For the love of god please tell me how Crysis 3 is. No one is talking about it, but from what I've read on the interwebs the campaign is about 6hrs long. I don't mind picking it up since I enjoyed Crysis 2 and I bought Crysis 1. But what are your opinions of the game?
If you enjoyed Crysis 2 i say pick it up. it probably won't get any cheaper til around Black Friday.

PDZ is still one of my favorite games this gen. Of course I played it in 2005-06 so alot has changed. To this day though no game has felt as challenging as PDZ online. Oh the power of a headshot in that game. And the campaign, on dark agent is still one of the most difficult on 360. VERY HARD 1000 and probably one of my most proud completions.

Great sale, I caved in and bought some games even though they were a little high

My haul

Bioshock Infinite (only because i LOVE Bioshock)

Borderlands 2

Forza Horizon

Far Cry 3

Hitman Absolution

Mass Effect

Tomb Raider

Witcher 2 (Only because there was so much praise)

Thinking of picking up Xcom and Left 4 Dead 2...must...resist....unless you guys tell me to buy them  ;)

If I have the ultimate edition of DAO would I be able to buy the GOD version and play it off my HD without needing my disc in order to play the DLC?
According to everyone earlier in the thread and what I read online, yes. I had the ultimate edition myself, but I installed all the extra content and sold my copy, then bought the digital copy for $5.

You should try to get back into Bioshock 1. IMO Infinite is hands down the worst Bioshock game. I actually view the setting the opposite as you though. Rapture is such an amazing dark world and then Infinite throws this colorful crap at you. I re-bought and re-played both Bioshocks after Infinite just because it made me miss how amazing the other two were compared to the new one.

Got L4D2 today on Sale and one of the DLC (Cold Stream) and have to say after 2 games... what the hell Valve? Both games kicked us back to the Valve Bald head logo screen. Tried Dedicated and Local connection and it still did it. Looked online and this problem has been going on forever now and still no fix. I really hope the sale helps for them to get noticed because thats bull. It may not happen all the time but 2 for 2 to start the game is worrying.

I own it and plan to play it after I knock out some of my newer purchases. I just think the scenic view was a breath of fresh-air. I like vistas (one of the reasons I love Halo). Though I do appreciate that Rapture is the main thing in Bioshock while Booker and Elizabeth are the main concern in Infinite.

Picked up:

-Borderlands 2
-Bulletstorm
-Left 4 Dead 2
-Forza Horizon (Might Never Play)

Gonna pick up all the Borderlands 2 DLC tomorrow probably and Perfect Dark Zero.

I'm probably the only person who decided to buy Bioshock infinite.  I used my cheap MSP.  so i technically only spent about $12-13 for the game which really isn't bad at all.  people are probably going to think i'm an idiot for it but at least i didn't spend $40..

Xcom is excellent. it's different from every other game i've played. I don't normally play strategy type games but Xcom made me interested in the genre. mainly because it's challenging and really makes you think about your decisions in the game. i definitely recommend xcom to anyone who can play a game that requires thinking.

Left for dead 2 is fun but will probably be forgotten about within a month or two after purchasing it. Every game plays more or less the same. It's a good coop game and the demo does a good demonstration of what the game will be like from start to finish. I do think it's one of the better zombie games out though. A used copy of the first left for dead game is probably really cheap by now and if you just want a taste of the LfD game then you can probably just get your fix from the first game.

Picked Up the following....

Far Cry 3

Crysis

Bulletstorm

Lego Batman 2

Lego Lord Of The Rings

..the rest i own on disc, played prior or have no interest in.

So would anyone still recommend Mass Effect to someone that has played 2&3, and knows most of the major story points (PS3 comic). I'd have already got it if I had 2/3 on 360, since I'd like to play through the whole series with the same character, but I'm not very familiar with RPGs and wonder if knowing what happens might make me lose interest quickly. I know it's $5, but would still love some input if anyone was/is in a similar position :)
If I understand your situation correctly, then I would have to recommend not buying ME1 for 360. You own ME2 and ME3 on PS3, correct? If so, then just buy the PS3 version of ME1 that was released digitally last year. It's $15, isn't it? Obviously, that's three times as much as it currently costs on the Xbox marketplace, but it's worth it to be able to carry your character over throughout the entire trilogy. Besides, I'm sure that it will go on sale and/or become a free PS+ game or whatever eventually.

Of course, you could always buy the Xbox versions of ME2 and ME3. But that would obviously cost much more money, especially since you would have to rebuy all of the free DLC that came with the PS3 version of ME2 (in addition to any DLC you may have already gotten for ME3).

If I'm misunderstanding and you don't actually own ME2 and ME3 for PS3, then by all means go ahead and get ME for 400 MSP from this sale. But then you'll probably want to get the other two games too so that you can play through the whole series, in which case you may just be better off waiting for a good price on the Mass Effect Trilogy collection.

Bottom line, ME1 is definitely worth getting and playing, but only on the same platform as the other two games in the series. This especially holds true now that the first game is finally available to PS3 owners. There's really no excuse for (and not much point to) having the different games in the series split between different platforms.

So...odds ME or Dragon Age ends up as one of the freebies?  I'm still teeter tottering on both of them.  It just seems as though Microsoft will mostly be giving out old games and ME may especially be a prime target for it.

I bought Tomb Raider for $20, yeah It's not $15 or $10 but I was holding all those points just for the game.

Dissapointed a lot of games didn't go cheaper, but w/e.

Really dissapointed in today's sales, considering how discounted the last few day's games were. But oh well, Dishonored DLC to look forward to, and then hopefully a strong start to august.

My buys from this sale:
Crysis
Divinity II
The Witcher 2

Got the following:

Max Payne 3
Crysis 3
Witcher 2
Left 4 Dead 2

Holding out hope that day 4 prices aren't already set. If not, I'll take another look at the persistent ultimate sale deals.

I still find it confusing that some people dont know how to buy stuff on xboxlive with MS pts. Is is that hard to read the purchase screen and price? It tells you at the bottom.

These are the same people that overlook the OP, and ask here instead of doing a 2 second Google search. They're not the brightest people around.

Here's what I picked up:

BL 2 DLC;

-Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty

    -Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage

    -Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack

Crysis 1 & 3

Hitman: Absolution

Left 4 Dead 2

ME 3 DLC; Omega

Max Payne 3

Prey

The Witcher 2

What did everyone else get?

Since people are asking....so far I've picked up:

Borderlands 2

Dragon Age Origins

Witcher 2

(all i had on disc....flipped disc for profit and bought the digitals)

Thinking about:

Orange Box

Hitman

Crap, can this sale be over? I picked up

Borderlands 2 GoD

-Mr. Torgue

-Sir Hammerlock

-Captain Scarlett

-Psycho Pack

-Slaughterdome

-Vault Hunter Upgrade

Assassin's Creed III GoD

Orange Box GoD

Left 4 Dead 2 GoD

Mass Effect GoD

So is there any known compression for The Witcher 2 vs playing it off the retail discs?

At this point, I'd rather just pay the $10 for it than pay $25 for the disc, unless the cutscenes/audio is compressed.

Any known issues/thoughts? Thanks

Is anyone else debating whether or not to grab the games just because they are cheap while also having them on disc or on another platform? The internal struggle to resist (in both purchasing and not purchasing) is driving me nuts.
you are not alone

you would be wrong then. Bioshock 1 has a far better and far more original setting. infinite stands 0 chance of getting GOTY simply because people will compare it to the first two where it is factually far worse on nearly every front. not to say infinite is a bad game as it isnt it just does not even compare to the first two on any level. just about everything infinite does the first two manage to do better including the save system. i'd be highly shocked if this game is a GOTY nominee. the other problem is infinite has a weird ending and the story is not tied together very well.

i can understand someone calling infinite great if they never played the first two. that said the first two are also quite a bit harder on hard mode as well and ive heard of people getting stuck on it.

it seems the sequels this year are off to a bad start. dead space 3 is the weakest link. gears of war judgment is the weakest link and bioshock infinite is the weakest of the bunch.

My haul is Monopoly Streets, Mass Effect (since I sold my disc long ago), Prey (same as ME1 but now I can finally beat the game). I already own or played most games from the sale. Also picked up the ME3 Omega DLC and Gatling Gears.

I'm glad I passed on Borderlands 2 GonD. I played my disc yesterday and my Badass Rank, Golden Keys, heads and skins and storage all got reset AGAIN. This happened after the last update too. I'm so frustrated. I took a long break after the last time it happened and now I'm convinced it will happen a third time whenever the next update occurs. Makes me not want to play even though I own all the content. All that progress lost yet again. Damn. Gearbox has no solution either according to their forums.

bioshock infinite (sold disc copy)

Far cry 3 (sold disc copy)

XCom (sold disc copy)

Borderlands 2

Bulletstorm

Crysis

Prey

Hitman Absolution

Forza Horizon

I'm thinking about getting Tomb Raider.  i sold my disc copy but i don't know if i would even play it if i bought it.  It'd just be another addition to my collection.

I just did a count and i have about 70 games for my xbox 360.  I wouldn't have so many if it weren't for this website helping me find great deals.  Thanks guys.

What I've bought so far is

Far Cry 3

Crysis

Lego Batman 2

Forza Horizon

Hitman Absolution

Xcom Enemy Unknown

Bulletstorm

My haul:

Tomb Raider

That's the only game i really wanted from this sale. I wish it was cheaper, but you know i'm not spending a damn cent on it. I used MSP from bing. So pretty worth it.

My pick Ups

Bulletstorm

Prey

Forza Horizon

The Orange Box

Brothers in Arms:Hell's Highway

FC Instincts Predator

Perfect Dark Zero

Whoa...more than I expected..

Trying to resist Forza for the next couple of hours since I know I'll want Xcom, Dragon Age, and at least one other before it's over. Already bought FC3.

Forza is really good but I can easily see it being back to this price either digitally or on disc before the year is out.

I ended up getting:

  • $10 - Hitman
  • $5 - FC Instincts
  • $5 - Command and Conquer
  • $3 - Prey
  • $5 - Divinity 2

So $28 total for 5 games. Overall a great deal. I just wish Crysis 3 was $10, but I knew that was a long shot.

I was just looking at what i bought so far,  here it goes:   Far Cry 3,  Prey,  Hitman absolution,  Orange Box,  WWE 13,  Crysis,  Bulletstorm,  Max Payne 3,  Mass Effect,  Left 4 Dead 2.

Not bad for 4760 in points,  im still debating on if i should grab any dlc for bl2, i already have Mechromancer Pack, I wish i had grabbed the digital copy of bl2, but i'll live with my disc version. On the bad side of things,  i have gone from 95gigs free to 27gigs left on my 250gig hard drive.

I call Infinite amazing. And I have played all of them. Same with Dead Space 3. And I have beaten all of them. You cant expect a game to drag on forever and never change anything. Infinite changed the setting and made it awesome. Rapture was awesome as well. But cmon...if we had a Bioshock 3 and it was just more of the same setting you would be complaining that nothing changed. Same with Dead Space. All three are great and have horror, and in three they FINALLY changed the setting as well. I prefer to see more than the same ship or underwater city over and over.

Ended up buying Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2, Forza Horizon, Hitman Absolution, The Witcher 2, Mass Effect, Bulletstorm and Crysis. Still not sure if I should buy WWE13 for the Local Multiplayer, as it would cost me 7€ but I've already spent 20€ :/

From this sale, I grabbed :

Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, Lego Batman 2, Lego LOTR, C&C Red Alert 3 and Divinity 2.

I'm still pondering about  FC Instincts Predator, Prey and Perfect Dark Zero. If anyone can offer opinions on these, I'd appreciate it.

I also have Bulletstorm, Crysis, BIA : HH and Hitman on PS3 and still debating whether or not to pick it up with MSP in this sale.

Someone please talk me in or out of this misery!
