The NCAA most likely didn't renew their partnership because of a lawsuit by former and current college athletes claiming improper use of player likeness. The NCAA pulling out is mostly irrelevant because all that changes is the name on the box and the NCAA logo and name missing from the game. The Collegiate Licensing Company(CLC) who handles most schools rights has renewed it deal with EA, but from what I have read, it sounds like individual universities can opt out of this deal and some schools handle their own rights, including USC, Oregon, and Ohio State. I could see a scenario where a major school pulls out because they don't want a lawsuit from former players and their decision creates a domino effect. Even if they are only missing a few major schools, I can tell you that I would not buy the game anymore.
