Picked up Steamworks Lost Planet for a rainy snowy day. I don't feel safe getting any GFWL unless they have a satement. And even Age of Booty, Flock, and Dark Void Zero (which I didn't find fun) have securom!
Every time I see AOB on sale I really want to buy it and then I go to the Steam game page and see SecuROM glaring at me from a scary red box. Makes me cry because I love me some pirates but I want them to be able to sail across as many computers as they wish to plunder. There were no such restrictions during the "swashbuckling era".

This thing is celestial. Shit should be passing around a collection plate.
It looks like a better controller overall but, like I said before, hardly a KBM replacement. See where he plays CS:GO? He can quickly aim the controller near the guy's head for a headshot, but then he has to slooowwwlyyy adjust it to get to the head. And these were static targets! I appreciate the comment about not needing autoaim, but this would not cut it in any multiplayer FPS (and many singleplayer ones too). Even scrolling around the Civ map seemed cubersome compared to a mouse.

I keep my categories generic

Edit:

Sky Jacker is in kickstarter once again for the third time. Hopefully this time they will get funded.

While I agree, I think the more apt comparison would be to a controller. This certainly isn't going to be marketed directly to the competitive multiplayer/FPS crowd. It does provide an opportunity for possibly cumbersome KB&M living room arrangements to be circumvented at the same time still being an improvement over a standard controller.

Decided the SSFIV:AE deal was to good to pass up. Got the controller from my brother and was excited to have some fighting game fun. Bought the Complete DLC for SSFIV:AE and everything but the guy hosting the 4 pack didn't get ahold of JakeNome in time. No fault of his.

If anyone has an extra copy of it lying around let me know.

Is there any easy way to just sort of reset the categories? I tried that depressurizer but it didn't do anything. Probably used it wrong.
I'm trying it now and it seems to be working for me. I'm just trying to finalize my actual categories, but did a test to try out it's functionality. Seems a whole lot easier than doing this through the client.

Edit: One issue I just noticed is you can't set up empty categories. I had a few set up, but didn't move any titles into them and when I opened Depressurizer back up, the empty categories were not saved.

I agree, but that's what worries me: more and more games will be made to fit within the controller's limitations, and the precision and finesse of a KBM will slowly be deprecated, even for SP games. We'll see how it goes.

Okay, maybe it's b/c of how I am - but I often groups things either by publisher or dev, 1st and foremost. As I've lately been buying and accumulating more games from certain publishers in bundles and stuff over the years - i.e. Take-Two, Focus, EA, Meridian 4, Valve, Zenimax, Microids, etc - I been going that route on sorting my categories through that. Especially since more publisher and dev-focused HB's and stuff from Groupees been popping up.

In some cases, I go a step further.

1st off - let's go w/ Zenimax (i.e. the parent company of Bethesda and Id). I have so many Id games, I have "Zenimax - Id Games" and another category is "Zenimax - Bethesda Games" b/c I have a bunch of Bethesda games [Skyrim, Fallout 3 GOTY, FO:NV (even though FO:NV was made by Obsidian, I feel it belongs near FO3 - I don't have enough Obsidian games on Steam, to make an Obsidian category)].

2nd off, let's go w/ 2K - For 2K, I have so many sports and non-sports and some Rockstar games (b/c I'm a big Rockstar fan), I have them in 3 different categories. "2K - Sports Games" and "2K - Non-Sports Games, and "2K - Rockstar Games."

Now, for games I don't own yet.

Any game that have had a "Free Weekend" before that I've downloaded and I don't own out-right, they're in a "Free Weekend" category.

"Demos" also get their own category, as well.

This it to let me know if I do like a game, I do need to buy a game eventually.

Any companies that barely put out many games, I just throw them into either a "Now Installed" category (general category for Installed games); "Not Installed" (if I ain't installed them yet); or specifically the "Indie Games" category (if it's made by an Indie company).

I also add lots of Non-Steam games to Steam - so gamers know what I'm playing, in case they got the same game or want to buy that game 'cause might want to get a MP-game going; or wanna know about more info from me about what I'm playing; or whatever the case may be. Those games, get "ZZZ - Non-Steam Games" category."ZZZ" is used purposely to force it to the VERY bottom so I know they're non-Steam games and so I know I can't it doesn't have full-blown Steam-version support there - those don't belong anywhere remotely even near the rest of my Steam-games, IMHO - b/c they ain't Steam-versions!

I'm always editing and moving games on my list, so it's a never-ending battle - especially as I get more games. I'm always rearranging stuff.

EDIT:

Also, b/c I own lots of games on Steam (over 360, currently) - I often just use the search to find a game or category. It's MUCH easier. A lot of times, I don't feel like going through my long list and scrolling. Since I do type fast and all - "search" command works much better for me.
That's a decent way to categorize it. Developers tend to have their own distinct "flavor," regardless of genre.

This exactly. It's so cheap I might just get it so I can stop considering it every sale, but it's just so dumb to have that sort of DRM in a game like this :headache:

Has anybody here ever asked Capcom to just remove the crap DRM?

I mean, this game's old and been cheap a billion times - why still shackle it w/ the DRM?

Makes no sense.

Nuclear Throne(aka Wasteland Kings is out now!) aww yiss, gonna have to farm some painkiller cards and then only pay 3 bucks for Nuclear Throne, yay. Anyone play Viscera Cleanup Detail on Shadow Warrior? Its free if u already have the game and looks like fun.

I don't categorize my library cause I've heard that Steam resets it randomly. I used to add all my non-Steam games and give them nice custom icons, but then Steam deleted most of them so I stopped.

If you categorize in depressurizer it's faster and you can save your configuration, so if it gets reset you can load it back up really quickly.

Hmm. I took a look at that and it sounds like it does a lousy job of assigning pre-set genres, but if you can set custom categories and then save that, that might make it useful to me. Thanks.

I actually found it after my library was already configured. It imported my configuration and saved it, so now I have it backed up. You could do that, but I also believe you can create custom categories, so you're not shoe-horned into their genres.

I'll check it out.

One thing that Steam should address is in Backup utility, the default storage media is set to 650MB CDR. Not even 700MB, let alone 4.7GB DVDR. Get a grip, Steam. Nobody is backing up multi-gig games onto 650MB CDRs. At least let us customize the default size.

What's even more annoying is it won't retain your custom backup location so I have to navigate to my external hdd every time.

Speak for yourself. I have a mile of CD-Rs in storage with every Steam game I've ever bought.

sooo this just came out. thoughts?

Pre-ordered cuz zombies.

I back up games to DVD-R. I save a Steam backup in CD size, then RAR that package up in 100 or 200 MB chunks, then toss those into the discs. It works well.

crap, nvm. looks like Iesabel is a direct port of the iOS/Android game. From what I'm seeing in gameplay videos, they didn't alter the interface to suit PC.
