Wow, today's Capcom deal is excellent!

Definitely picking up RE6 in some capacity. I might hold off on RE:R for now as it probably won't get touched for awhile in the backlog. It's extremely tempting and resisting will be a struggle. :whee:

Speaking of Silent Hill, I was tempted to pick up a used PS3 copy of Silent Hill HD Collection (2+3 "Remastered"), but I've heard it looks pretty bad and not really "remastered". That would be wonderful if they were ever released on Steam.

Edit: Here's to hoping!
You know, that's a good point - I probably won't play RE: Revelations for a bit, if I do buy it.

Especially since I'll probably take on RE6 first.

But, dammit - at 75% off (of $50) for a Capcom game, still VERY tempting to just go ahead and backlog RE: Revelations.

Though, I'd kick myself a bit if I ain't touched it, yet MSRP drops to say $40 and it hits a 75% off sale again.

I'm probably gonna at least buy RE6 (75% off $40 price-tag).

I just....am finding it hard to resist THIS deal at 75% for $10.

Felt free.

Added you. :D

EDIT:

Oh, that'd be cool. :D

Oh, yeah - Dead Rising 2 + Off The Record. Good points.

I really wish Dead Rising 3 was PC bound.

Oh, and that they'd bring Dead Rising 1 to PC, as well.

Did we have Lost Planet franchise day yet?
lp not yet

it too late for me heh.

but which dlc is avialbe through re net store?

with all this capcom/fighting game talk going i was looking through my library (a meager 787 compared to most other cags http://steamcommunity.com/id/shrinerr/games?tab=all ) and I found that I don't have a single traditional fighting game in the mix. the closest thing i have is VF2 from the SG&MDC. a few reasons why...

a) not very many fighting games in indie bundles

b) don't wanna play play fighting games with 360 controller, i have the wireless dongle

c) i have an irrational bias towards consoles for fighting games. I'm probably gonna get USFIV for ps3 even though i can save money getting it on pc. just stubborn like that i guess.
ur better than me i have 406 gamesl ol

I completely agree. Capcom titles 75% off will definitely test my ability to resist such purchases.

For all the people looking to dump your backgrounds and emoticons, I know a few people in here would want them regardless of what they are. If there is an emoticon or background you want, I'm sure a trade can be worked out. I personally come across stuff all the time. I'll even go looking for cards you need if you make it worth my time.

re6 is trasssshhhhhh

it's honestly not worth any amount of money or HD space

i say that as a big fan of re5 too. the game is just shit. QTEs, horrid level design, and dudebro shootin built on boring mechanics.

If I had to guess I bet Remember Me is featured tomorrow (-75%) $12.49. What else is really left for Capcom to highlight? Maybe Dead Rising 2 I suppose.
I think we'll see the Dead Rising series and Lost Planet series get featured tomorrow. I hope that Remember Me will have a further discount, too. Oddly enough, this article here says European Playstation Plus members are getting Remember Me for "free" in November; wonder when/if we'll see it here in the good ol' USofA.

I really want to pick up resident evil revelations, but I'm not sure if the game will go any cheaper sometime soon maybe during the sale in November. Anyone know if there's any big difference between the PC version of the game vs console or 3ds?

haven't played it yet, i'll wait for an msrp drop. i've heard it's not bad though.
Hmmmm - RE: Revelations PC actually has a Demo on Steam.

Maybe I'll give it a look.

EDIT:

Demo is only somewhere b/t 500-600 MB. Yup, I'mma check it out.

It's a love it or hate it game, I can understand why some hate it but I absolutely loved it for the co-op. Enjoyed it a lot more than RE5.

Do you have any thoughts on RE: Revelations?
RE: Revelations is a good game, but slightly overrated. It has some noticeable flaws, and in some aspects is worse than RE5/6. It being designed for the 3DS really held it back. The enemy designs are all generic (MORE generic than the enemies in RE5/6), the hit detection on the enemies seems really off, where as in RE5/6 it seems spot on, you really know which body part you're hitting and the enemies react more in those games. The graphics could use some work too, but that's forgivable seeing how the PC version is a port of a 3DS game. The main redeeming factors for RE:R were the atmosphere, weapon part upgrade system, and the story (which is much better than RE5/6). I wish the AI partner wasn't so useless, they're not helpful at all, and it makes it seem like the addition of co-op wouldn't have been hard to implement since the AI follows you around for most of the game.

I would say the overall gameplay in RE5/6 is better than RE:R, but the weapon part upgrade system is nice and something that RE5/6 lacked. The atmosphere in RE:R is also better than RE5/6. None of the games are scary though.

Actually recently finished up Remember Me.  I like a lot about it, but it's honestly not a great game.  I don't regret the purchase because I really enjoyed everything else about it, but the gameplay just kind of exists as a bridge between cut scenes/story bits.  The combat is adequate at best, a bit repetitive, reminds me more of Prince of Persia Sands of Time than anything else.  The platforming controls are stiff and the paths very linear, which after playing Tomb Raider 2013 made it all the more glaring how stiff it was.  That being said, I love the setting of the game.  It's got a nice neo-noir sensibility to it, the environments are gorgeous if static, and while the story isn't amazingly deep I like it enough to give it points for the ideas present even if they weren't perfectly executed on.  I think it would make a great movie/mini-series where they could run with some of the themes around memory, corporate power and mind control and all the other concepts that exist kind of just under the surface of the game that aren't fully explored.

I'd say it's certainly worth a look at 75% off but most of the value for me was appreciating the potential there in some ways more than the actual game I was playing.

I just tried the RE:R Demo - dammit, it doesn't save! Anyways - I liked what I played. Are the controls w/ 360 gamepad for RE6 very similar to RE:R?

I was playing RE:R Demo in "Shooter" mode for 360 gamepad. They also have a "Classic" set-up, which is similar to older RE's w/ gamepads, I'd guess.

I can't answer that since I haven't played RE6 or RE:R with gamepad.. I can say that RE:R controls great with KB/M. RE6 is fine with KB/M for the most part but they made a stupid design decision and don't let you bind weapons to keys..

One of the best things about RE6 is for the first time that I'm aware of, a RE game has some resemblance to a modern control scheme. Very refreshing.

Great to hear that RE6 and RE:R play better nowadays with KB/mouses (as opposed to in the past). :D

Bleh @ binding weapons to keys, though.

Anyways - how long/short are RE6 and RE:R?

I would say RE6 is around 30 hours while RE:R is 10-15, but I may be a bit off.

Holy balls...for an action/survival horror game, that's already too much usually, even w/out the final five chapters.
Yeah. I mix up the chapters between the 3 different campaigns and it still feels like it's dragging on for soooo long. I stopped playing it a couple of months ago and don't have much desire to go back and finish it. I should do it, though. And then you unlock a 4th campaign after that, I assume the 4th one is shorter than the rest but I don't know.

Thanks, Spoder!

RE6 is 30 hours for a survival-horror game? Wowsers.

That's HUGE.

RE:R sounds more normal for that type of game - at your 10-15 hours timeframe.
You clearly haven't played it yet. Its such a drag to complete all 4 campaigns. Its not survival horror, its mediocre run and gun gameplay with zombies.

The 4th one is a lot shorter. The chapters for the other campaigns are about 1:30 each. The 4th campaign chapters are :20 to :30.

Make sure you play with a friend for maximum enjoyment. Same with ORC.

This. Honestly I didn't think it was a drag.. I was having too much fun in co-op to care how long it was.

What Snake said. Heck, I've played through the entire thing already, and remember it being pretty grueling. And yet here I am, considering picking it up on pc to give it another chance. And cards. Always those damn cards.

So basically if we don't like playing co-op (*cough* or have no one to coop with *cough*) then RE6 and RE:R is pointless to get then?

Just ordered RE6 and DL'ing it.

So, since the game's long for linear survival-horror - maybe gamers should play each campaign at different times apart from each other?
Play them in order. That's the best advice I can give you. Leon's is best, play as Chris's partner instead of Chris, and plough through Jake's campaign.

Still fun, but it's more of a run and gun by yourself. The bot is a super invincible beast.

In co-op it's more of run and piss yourself because ammo doesn't help until you unlock the super weapons. That's assuming you have ammo.

I'd really like to buy RE5 and Lost Planet 2, but the uncertainly of not knowing whether or not GFWL will be patched out is staying my hand. Come on Capcom, be cool. Patch it out, for ALL your games.

Okay - is Chris and his partner's campaign the same? Or close to it?

Is there overlapping?
They're virtually identical aside from a few "separate the partners in equally deadly rooms" scenarios. Also, Chris is a bit of a cunt in this game, and playing as his partner makes the story feel better as it progresses.

RE:R was made for singleplayer. RE:R's Raid Mode is kind of tacked on, their lazy way of implementing a co-op mode. The real meat is the singleplayer. If you really don't have anyone to co-op with in RE6, you can always hit me up.. I wouldn't mind playing through RE6 again.
